Since When is Waste in the Military News?

So the government is going to destroy $1B worth of ammo.

The article is unclear on the type(s) of ammo in question. Small arms ammo lasts forever. If they want to get rid of it, give it back to who paid for it originally.

But really, this is not news.

Two friends were in the army in the early sixties.

One said that whenever they went out to target practice the standing orders were…do not bring any ammo back. So they shot for a while then threw what was left in a pit and blew it up.

Another said when he first arrived in Korea shipments of barbed wire started arriving and no one knew why. By the time he left there was a mountain of rusting barbed wire and it was still coming in.

The first story was the result of ignorance, the second was likely a Military Industrial Complex pork barrel pay-off.

The right way, the wrong way and the army way.

Be seeing you
