Politico: Trump Repealed Social Security Gun Ban Behind Closed Doors
Posted by M. C. on April 11, 2017
The House voted to repeal the gun ban on February 2 and the Senate followed suit on February 15. Immediately thereafter the New York Times (NYT), New York Daily News (NYDN), and The Huffington Post (HuffPo) all reported the vote to repeal as a GOP effort to help the mentally ill get guns.
In reality, the repeal of the Social Security gun ban was about repealing an Obama administration gun control that could strip Social Security recipients of their Second Amendment rights without due process.
How can anyone tolerate legislation allowing Constitutional rights to be decided by nameless, blameless, unelected bureaucrats? The last thing anyone in flyover country needs is some lowly bureaucrat in Foggy Bottom making mental health judgments based on a ticked box on a form. Go to your local SS social security office and ask a question. You will see what I mean.
And here I have thought all these years that what the Constitution says said about only congress passing laws was true. But we mustn’t speak unkindly about the dead.
If this were about licensing word processors and keyboards based on fake news accusations the media reaction would likely different.
Be seeing you
