Violence

I love violence because they smell so nice-Bullwinkle J. Moose

A recent letter on violence in today’s Erie Times-News was inspiring and demands elaboration.

Can we agree theft, extortion, kidnapping, murder and unwanted invasion are violence? These forms of violence manifest themselves in ways we might not realize. Taxation, permitting, the draft, asset forfeiture, eminent domain, ‘military’ law enforcement, all your personal communications arriving at a ‘data center’ before reaching the intended recipient.

There is only one perpetrator, backed by lawyers, guns and badges, that indulges in all these activities every day without fear of retribution.

The cornerstones of Libertarian philosophy are self ownership, sanctity of private property and the Non- Aggression Principle. The NAP states no one has the right to initiate violence towards someone else. I like to think I have a personal philosophy. What’s in your wallet? What are you willing to tolerate?

Be seeing you
