Legally, ethically what can justify the government deciding who can or cannot marry? That goes for DOMA too. It is about control, as usual.
Licenses and permits. They are when government takes away your rights and makes you pay to get them back, if they think it is alright.
A bill prefiled in the Alabama Senate would abolish marriage licenses in the state and effectively nullify in practice both major sides of the contentious national debate over government-sanctioned marriage.
