Pete Buttigieg, President Joe Biden’s nominee to lead the U.S. Department of Transportation, this morning told a Senate panel considering his appointment that it’s crucial the country invests in strengthening transportation infrastructure nationwide.

And he launched the first suggestion for a tax hike. This one a gas tax:
