Support Your Local Lemonade Stand!

Posted by M. C. on September 10, 2024

True Economic Reform lies in a Change of Focus

In America (and the West in general) which is in deep economic decay, this is the kind of economic activity which needs support from the people now more than ever.

A short time ago, one of your respective authors was driving back to his home in the sticks after a busy day tending to business matters in the city. In a small town on the way, a familiar sight was on the curb in front of a neighborhood house. A small folding table complete with a frosty pitcher, a stack of cups, and a white poster board sign reading “Lemonade For Sale. $1 per Cup.” Four children tended the table from their folding chairs around it, and a parent sat on the porch a couple yards away keeping an eye on them. It seemed like a good opportunity to support the local economy and there was little chance of the big guy/girl getting his/her cut of the profits. Soon, an undiluted free market transaction benefited both parties; yours truly from a cold, refreshing drink, and the lemonade stand representatives from a cold, hard-earned, invest-able, save-able dollar bill…and a 100% tip.

Summer and Autumn are times when local economic opportunities are expressed more openly; from lemonade stands to farmers markets where locals trade with one another in town squares, pavilions, and parks. These are people committed to providing quality produce – an essential commitment because it has never been more convenient to pass up a farmer’s market and lemonade stand. Consider that groceries purchased online can be delivered in one day. Granted, the buyer has to open the front door and put them away, but the convenience is a no-brainer. Quality is the only selling point that these small businesspeople can use to compete, and many excel. Though they do seek monetary return for their labors, it is merely a part of the wholesome satisfaction that comes from a free, reciprocal, and unforced transaction. These are hard-working, honest individuals, who have no corporate overlord wielding a metaphorical whip over them. This means they have the freedom to more freely adapt to consumers’ changing needs and to make deals with those who have a special need or limited resources. They also more readily recognize and reward faithful patrons who continue to give them business. In short, this economic activity is the closest thing to the pure free market as described by Mises, Hazlitt, & Rothbard.

A Federal Prosecution in Florida Is Keeping Us Safe from the Russkies

Posted by M. C. on September 9, 2024

The Russkies are using the law in the same way that U.S. officials are using it — to target and shut down media outlets that are funded by the U.S. government, such as Radio Free Europe. Talk about being hoisted on your own statist petard!

And yes, you read that right: The U.S. government, through the force of taxation, funds media outlets, just like the Russian government does.

By Jacob G. Hornberger

The Future of Freedom Foundation

If you have been pacing the floor over the possibility that the Russkies are trying to influence your vote in the 2024 elections, you can sleep well tonight. That’s because the feds are currently prosecuting four members of the African People’s Socialist Party in a trial in federal district court in Tampa.

What is the African People’s Socialist Party? Good question! I certainly had never heard of them, and I’m willing to bet that neither have you. It turns out that they are a small, obscure group of Americans who have been advocating socialism for around 50 years. In fact, one of the four defendants is in his 80s and another is in her late 70s. I suppose I should mention that one of the defendants recently ran for city council but lost the race after receiving only 18 percent of the vote.

So, why are the feds going after these people? To keep us safe, of course! The feds are saying that the defendants are serving as a conduit for the Russian government to “influence” the 2024 election. The feds are charging the defendants with violating a U.S. law that was enacted in 1938, during the regime of President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was the president who converted the federal government to a socialist welfare state and also converted our monetary system to a paper-money system without even the semblance of constitutional amendments. That 1938 FDR law requires people who are operating as agents of a foreign government to register with the federal government.

Mind you, it’s not against the law for people to work for the Russian government or any other government. It’s also not against the law to lobby or advocate for the Russian government. It’s also not against the law to defend the Russian government or take positions that favor the Russian government.

That’s not to say that the U.S. government wouldn’t love those types of laws. It’s that U.S. officials recognize that there is an obstacle to enacting such laws. That obstacle is called the First Amendment.

On Being a “Threat to Democracy”

Posted by M. C. on September 9, 2024

Power to The People?

To most average people, democracy means freedom. Hey, we live in a democracy. We get to vote! The vote is sacred to defenders of American “democracy.” Go ahead, pick your candidate. You have two choices. Two! Our democracy is full of choices. That’s why “pro choice” is kind of the foundation of our “democracy.”

Donald Jeffries

Merriam-Webster defines “democracy” as: “a: Government by the people especially : rule of the majority, b: a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections.”

Well, that sounds good. Do we have a rule of the majority? The majority of Americans, after all, about eighty percent of them, are losing in this rigged economy, and living paycheck to paycheck at best. I don’t think they’re “ruling” anything. We all (well, some of us) know that the 10th Amendment to the Constitution clearly states, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Again, sounds good. But when’s the last time you heard about one of our tyrannical judges ruling in favor of someone invoking the 10th Amendment? Since the Constitution delineates very limited powers to the central government, this should mean that the vast majority of power in this country resides in the States, or the people.

The 10th Amendment isn’t any more popular than the 1st, the 2nd, or the 4th. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have any “hate speech,” or “gun control” laws, or no-knock SWAT team raids on private residences. It’s pretty obvious that the people don’t have any power. There are, of course, distinct differences between democracy and the constitutional republic our Founders established. But today, in the year of our Lord 2024, we don’t appear to have either in America 2.0. Plenty of taxation, but no representation. Lincoln shattered the foundational principle of our War for Independence, the consent of the governed. Millions don’t consent to this tyranny and authoritarianism. It doesn’t matter. We can’t elect better leaders. 96 percent of these horrific incumbents are returned to office every election. It’s just as bad whether that’s because of fraud, or massive stupidity on the part of the voters.

Note in the illustration above that four of the ten hands are Black. Forty percent. Blacks are twelve percent of the U.S. population. Yes, I know that any television viewer would be shocked by that. I think that more than half the actors in commercials now are Black. I don’t need to mention how overrepresented Blacks are in sports and entertainment. So, how does all this excessive interest in our second largest minority group equate with majority rule? Which is what the dictionary says “democracy” is. What does “the people” mean? In our multicultural society, which people are we talking about? There are conflicting interests among these various groups of people. But the interests of White people- who are still clinging to a majority of the population- are ignored. Or belittled. By White elites.

Ballot referendums are a pure form of democracy. The voters decide on a policy, without any representative go-between. In 1994, a very demographically different California approved Proposition 187, which would have prohibited illegal immigrants from obtaining government services. Well, what could be more reasonable than that? The beloved Bill Clinton campaigned strongly against the measure, so you know it was a good one. Under the unconstitutional concept of Judicial Review, which I examine in detail in my book American Memory Hole, Judge Mariana Pfaelzer was able to quash the measure, and thus the will of the people, a month after the proposition was approved. To today’s Left, that was “democracy.” A judge overriding the majority of the people- you know, the ones who run things under a “democracy.” Millions of illegals later, we’re probably more “democratic” than ever.

In 2008, public opinion polls showed that 95 percent or more of Americans were opposed to the banker bailout. So, this being a democracy and all, every national political leader was opposed to the will of the people, and the disastrous bailout was implemented. In the 2020 election, millions of Americans were convinced that there had been massive electoral fraud, and that Joe Biden hadn’t been honestly elected. Was it a majority of the people? Hard to tell, but certainly enough that their voices should have been heard. That’s what would happen in any “democracy.” Instead, untold numbers of protesters were imprisoned, and some are still being denied due process over three years later. Those who appeared in court were subjected to Alice in Wonderland-style kangaroo trials, and given incredibly harsh prison sentences. We are told that these “insurrectionists” were a “threat to democracy.”

Ode to November

Posted by M. C. on September 6, 2024

I’m The Slime

Frank Zappa

I am gross and perverted
I’m obsessed and deranged
I have existed for years
But very little has changed
I’m the tool of the Government
And industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you

I may be vile and pernicious
But you can’t look away
I make you think I’m delicious
With the stuff that I say
I’m the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I’m the slime oozin’ out
From your TV set

You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don’t need you
Don’t go for help, no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold

That’s right, folks
Don’t touch that dial

Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin’ along on your livin’ room floor
I am the slime from your video
Can’t stop the slime, people, look at me go
I am the slime from your video
Oozin’ along on your livin’ room floor
I am the slime from your video
Can’t stop the slime, people, look at me go
