Do you still really care about Twitter?

Twitter CEO Elon Musk announced a blanket amnesty for Twitter users permanently suspended from the platform.

Musk made the decision Thursday in response to the final results of a poll he tweeted Wednesday. The platform will begin unbanning accounts en masse, except for those who broke the law or engaged in excessive spam, next week, he tweeted in response to the results. Musk has already unbanned a number of popular accounts that were permanently suspended before he took over as “Chief Twit.”

On Wednesday, Musk tweeted a poll asking whether or not to unban users that had been permanently suspended. “Should Twitter offer a general amnesty to suspended accounts, provided that they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam?” he wrote.

More than three million users voted in the poll, and the vote was overwhelmingly in favor of amnesty; nearly three-quarters of voters, 72.4%, voted “yes,” while just 27.6% voted “no.”

“The people have spoken,” Musk wrote after the poll concluded. “Amnesty begins next week. Vox Populi, Vox Dei.”

Before the poll ended, Musk seemed to indicate that in effect, the platform would significantly curtail content moderation to target illegal content and increase transparency.

…“We don’t hear much about Democrats and leftists being let back on Twitter. Why? Because they were never kicked off in the first place. Their lies and misinformation simply escaped all scrutiny. Censorship has been deployed as a one-way operation against conservatives,” D’Souza tweeted, tagging Musk in his post…

Musk’s Free Speech Moves On Twitter Have So Far Been Unimpressive

Posted by M. C. on November 21, 2022

Caitlin Johnstone

When Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter was first announced this past April I said that the purchase likely wouldn’t go through if the empire thought it posed a threat to its information interests. I said that any reduction of censorship protocols which Musk implements on the platform would probably not be of the sort that make any difference to the powerful, but would instead just amplify vapid partisan culture war nonsense.

So far since Musk’s takeover, this does appear to be the case.

In recent days Twitter has reinstated the accounts of Donald Trump, Kanye West, Jordan Peterson, Project Veritas, Kathy Griffin, and the Babylon Bee. This to date is as close as Musk has come to honoring his stated intention of making Twitter a haven of free speech where people have a “digital town square” to debate and discuss ideas.

And it’s not enough. Un-banning a few famous people will drum up a lot of headlines and online chatter and make it look like you’re really doing something, but in the end all you’ve done is reinstate a handful of Twitter accounts. You haven’t done anything to meaningfully scale back the speech restrictions on your platform.

I can already hear the Elon simps falling all over themselves in a mad rush to tell me it’s only been a few weeks and I need to give Daddy more time, but they can go lick a Tesla battery. Nobody gains anything by giving the billionaire the benefit of the doubt and refraining from pointing out that he hasn’t done nearly enough at this point. The time to start criticizing and pushing is right now.

Twitter is currently full of discussions about which famous people Musk should un-ban next, but they’re completely missing the point. Reinstating a handful of celebrities has no meaningful effect on the free expression of normal people.

I don’t care that I can see tweets from Trump and Kanye again; I care that people are still banned from the platform for questioning western allegations of Russian war crimes and voicing unauthorized opinions about the war in Ukraine. I care that people are still banned for questioning vaccines and Covid policies which affect everyone. I care that media from governments the US doesn’t like are censored and suppressed while its reporters are made to carry “state-affiliated media” labels that media personnel from US-aligned states don’t have. I care that mass purges of accounts are virtually always directed at people from US-targeted nations.

Free speech is important first and foremost not because it feels nice to be able to say whatever you want, but because being able to freely criticize the powerful puts an important check on power. Letting celebrities say whatever they want about trans people or what have you is of the “feels nice to say whatever I want” variety. We’re not seeing any increase in the freedoms of speech which put a check on power.

In fact, we’re seeing Musk pledge to use shadowbanning to algorithmically censor tweets with unauthorized speech.

Did Twitter’s New Owner Elon Musk Just Prevent World War III?

Did Twitter’s New Owner Elon Musk Just Prevent World War III?

https://www.dailywire.com/news/did-twitters-new-owner-elon-musk-just-prevent-world-war-iii

By  Candace Owens

DailyWire.com

All right, guys, question of the day today: Did Elon Musk just prevent World War III?

Yeah, he did. I’m going to explain to you how, but first I want to talk to you guys about Western propaganda.

This topic is something that fascinates me. Most people think propaganda doesn’t happen in Western countries. It should be so obvious by now that that is not the case. And that propaganda is a big reason why the Left feared Musk buying Twitter.

For example, on Tuesday, President Donald Trump announced he is running for president in 2024. We all knew it was coming and you could sense that it was coming imminently because the press sort of started this peer pressure campaign to divide the GOP: DeSantis or Trump? Pick a side!

And then in true Western propaganda form, they were in lockstep across the media just insulting him after his announcement.

The media instantly ran with all sorts of wild headlines. Here are just a few:

NPR: Donald Trump, who tried to overturn Biden’s legitimate election, launches 2024 bid

CNBC: Donald Trump, twice impeached and under FBI investigation, launches 2024 White House bid

NBC: Trump, whose lies about the 2020 election inspired an insurrection, announces third White House bid

OK, we get the narrative. You all think he’s an evil monster who won’t go away.

The media really seem to be saying they’re all making the same argument ‘because we are trying to uphold the truth — not because we all seem to be operating in lockstep.’

This brings me to the next person who I want to talk about who is engaged in propaganda and who the media loves to celebrate with the exact same tone: President Volodymyr Zelensky.

As I have said since the beginning of the war, he is a dirtbag. I can’t make myself any clearer on that.

Just when the media abandoned the COVID narrative and said ‘you all forget about the sloppy Afghanistan withdrawal,’ they told you that suddenly you needed to trade in your BLM flags for Ukrainian flags.

Zelensky became a hero overnight in the media. The media basically said, ‘You either get on team Zelensky, or we are going to smear you as a pro-Putin puppet.’

I didn’t take that bait because I don’t care what the legacy media thinks of me.

Why would I care?

He’s a fraud. He’s getting magazine spreads and Oscars from Sean Penn and meeting with celebrities while demanding more money and aid from the United States.

And now, in case you missed it, yesterday he recklessly claimed that Russian missiles hit Poland, killing two. He called on NATO to directly hop into the war and defend Poland — despite no proof Russia did it. In essence, it would have started World War III.

When I saw it, I said clearly this is a lie. The narrative defied common sense. Why would Russia attack NATO? They are losing the war. Unless you’re completely insane, it would make no sense for Russian President Vladimir Putin to attack the West — among other reasons.

But then something happened that proved me right.

READ IT: Elon Musk Sends Blunt Message To 3,700 Fired Twitter Employees

Posted by M. C. on November 5, 2022

Elon: Good luck separating the wheat from the chaff.

https://www.dailywire.com/news/read-it-elon-musk-sends-blunt-message-to-3700-fired-twitter-employees

By  Ben Zeisloft

Elon Musk, the incoming owner of social media platform Twitter, notified thousands of employees whether they would be staying at the company or departing amid efforts to reduce operating costs.

Reports emerged earlier this week indicating that the world’s richest man was preparing to dismiss 3,700 of the 7,500 employees at Twitter. Some managers had been asked to create lists of employees to fire, with the layoffs slated to occur before employees are scheduled to receive stock benefits as part of their compensation.

The first email, included in full below, informed fired employees that they would no longer have access to Twitter systems and can expect information about their severance packages within a week. Although they are no longer expected to work, the employees will still receive compensation and benefits through January.

The second email, included in part below, told remaining employees that Musk has been listening to customers and other stakeholders on suggestions for improving Twitter. The workers were reminded to demonstrate respect for dismissed colleagues and refrain from talking to the media in accordance with company policy. Twitter offices will be closed until Monday.

The dismissal of rank-and-file Twitter employees comes after Musk immediately fired multiple members of the company’s leadership upon taking control of the platform last week, including chief executive Parag Agrawal and legal czar Vijaya Gadde, who pushed for the suspension of former President Donald Trump and suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story days before the 2020 election.

Musk, who also leads Tesla, SpaceX, and a handful of smaller startups, released a statement last week explaining that his $44 billion acquisition deal was motivated by a desire to foster open dialogue and free expression. “The reason I acquired Twitter is because it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence,” Musk said. “There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right wing and far left wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society.”

However, Musk revealed that a number of corporate advertisers have since paused their relationships with Twitter at the request of left-wing activist groups, who claimed that Musk would promote the spread of hateful rhetoric on his platform.

Elon Musk Sends Email To Twitter Staff Notifying Them Of Mass Layoffs

Elon Musk Sends Email To Twitter Staff Notifying Them Of Mass Layoffs

The trick will be can Elon prevent backsliding.

https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-elon-musk-sends-email-to-twitter-staff-notifying-them-of-mass-layoffs

By  Ryan Saavedra

New Twitter CEO Elon Musk informed employees Thursday evening to not come into the office tomorrow as the company was laying off a substantial portion of its workforce.

The news comes after Bloomberg News reported earlier this week that Musk was cutting 3,700 of the company’s 7,500 employees on Friday. Musk is also reportedly canceling a work-from-anywhere policy and is going to force employees to come into the office to work.

“In an effort to place Twitter on a healthy path, we will go through the difficult process of reducing our global workforce on Friday,” an email from the company sent to all employees stated. “We recognize that this will impact a number of individuals who have made valuable contributions to Twitter, but this action is unfortunately necessary to ensure the company’s success moving forward.”

“Given the nature of our distributed workforce and our desire to inform impacted individuals as quickly as possible, communications for this process will take place via email,” the message said.

The email said that everyone will receive an email about their future at the company, regardless of whether they are being laid off or not.

“To help ensure the safety of each employee as well as Twitter systems and customer data, our offices will be temporarily closed and all badge access will be suspended,” the email concluded. “If you are in an office or on your way to an office, please return home. We acknowledge this is an incredibly challenging experience to go through, whether or not you are impacted. Thank you for continuing to adhere to Twitter policies that prohibit you from discussing confidential company information on social media, with the press or elsewhere. We are grateful for your contributions to Twitter and for your patience as we move through this process.”

Dear Twitterati – Leave the Road to Serfdom, Learn to Code

Posted by M. C. on November 2, 2022

Author: Tom Luongo

So, Elon Musk completed his purchase of Twitter and the pink slips are flying. From the C-Suite to the CS desk in a few weeks Twitter will cease to be the company we’ve all loved to hate delivering a product we hated to love.

From the beginning of this saga I maintained that it didn’t matter in the end if Musk prevailed or not. What was important was his ripping the duct tape off the hairy ass of the ridiculous double standard at work.

Every stupid argument you’ve heard justifying Twitter’s behavior was invalidated during Musk’s six month quest to overpay for one of the biggest pillars of the control engine operated by the patriarchy oligarchy.

From the moment that Musk made his initial overture to his walking in and firing the leadership, this story has been equal parts hilarious and thrilling.

First, Musk makes an offer the Twitter board can’t refuse without incriminating themselves, which puts to the test all the academic poison pill theories about how to defend against a hostile takeover.

As always, academic bullshit failed the real world sniff test.

You know kinda like what’s in the process of happening to the ultimate academic egghead Klaus von Commie Schnitzel and his moronic Great Reset.

Second he outed every bit of Twitter’s leadership and middle management as a feckless bunch of Davos trolls with layers of plausible deniability who never thought they would ever get caught. And then Pieter Zatko entered the conversation, blowing up the idea that Twitter’s censorship was just rogue purple hairs revealing brown shirts underneath their playful exterior.

But that doesn’t cover the half of it. The reality is that it wasn’t some evil mandated corporate conspiracy, but rather a poorly-built internal architecture which was purposefully allowed to remain broken for plausible deniability purposes.“ALL THAT TWITTERS IS NOT FAIRY DUST”

Ooops..

Because no one ever thought that Musk would turn his corporatist bribes, I mean Tesla shares, into weapons of mass formation psychosis destruction. Really? No one could see this coming? Then again this is the same media that can’t see anything that isn’t scrolling up the teleprompter.

Lastly, he called everyone’s bluff and just said, “Screw it, it’s just money.” And he’s more right than you can ever really imagine. Because the rise and fall of Woke Twitter is a harbinger of things to come now that Outside Money is getting its revenge against the depredations of Inside Money.

When civilization breaks down, legal claims tend towards zero value. Civilization breaks down through the systemic subversion of the agreed upon rules to the advantage of some at the expense of the other.

And what bigger subversion of the rule, “thou shalt not steal” could there be than a debt-based Ponzi scheme of inside money being used to suck up legal claims to most of the world’s valuable resources while actively suppressing the value of the competing outside money to defend people’s claims to it?THE INS AND OUTS OF WHOSE MONEY IS IT, ANYWAY?

What the credit bubble giveth on the way up — empowering billionaire Satanists to providing welfare jobs to harpy millennial chicks and the soyboys who simp for them — taketh away twice as fast on the way down.

What was that about Elon top-ticking Tesla again for FU Money?

I have to believe that part of Musk’s decision to finally just buy Twitter despite the fictitious valuation (and userbase) was the grief he got publicly for going against the war orthodoxy of the collective West (and specifically Davos’ enforcement of a single point of view) over, of all things, using Twitter to engage in discussion about what the outcome in Ukraine should look like.

I guess advocating for peace and to stop angry Slavs from murdering each other is no longer a core “European value.”

Actually, now that I type that out, it never was.

Musk could have dragged this out for months and proven in court that Twitter was a cesspit. But, we’re edging closer to a point of no return over Ukraine; a point we are being railroaded towards by psychopaths and solipsistic assholes who never met a dead member of the hoi polloi, especially of the wrong ethnicity, they didn’t give a second thought to.

And note which entity at the last tried to stop his taking over Twitter, the “Biden” White House who tried to claim it was a National Security issue.

Changing of the Guard: Can Musk Deliver on His Promises for Free Speech and Information?

Posted by M. C. on November 2, 2022

https://mises.org/wire/changing-guard-can-musk-deliver-his-promises-free-speech-and-information

Michael Rectenwald

Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter and his immediate firing of top brass represents a potential weakening of the Big Digital woke cartel that controls information, censors content, censures and bans users, and serves as a propaganda arm of leftist totalitarian statists. Given their cooperation with and promotion of leftist statism, it is more than evident that Twitter, Facebook, Google, and others have served as state apparatuses, as what I have called “governmentalities.” Musk’s takeover not only represents a potential blow to the woke cartel but also to the globalist statists whom it so assiduously serves.

I have argued that Musk’s Twitter gambit represents an important test case for the woke cartel because it pits “the world’s richest man” against these agents of the state. Musk’s takeover will now demonstrate just how much this cartel and the statists they support can manage to infringe property rights by controlling what Musk can do with his own property.

Already the European Union [EU] is threatening Musk with control of Twitter’s content. After Musk tweeted “the bird is freed,” EU industry chief Thierry Breton tweeted “[i]n Europe, the bird will fly by our EU rules.” Breton was indirectly referring to the EU’s Digital Services Act, which aims to ban “illegal and harmful content” across Europe.

Political ‘Justice’ in America

Posted by M. C. on October 25, 2022

Bannon’s sentence is meant to convey a political message to America: if you support Trump you are a criminal and you may find yourself in a cell next to Steve Bannon.

The media reported last week that Tesla and Space-X chief Elon Musk has come under a “national security review” over, it seems, his on-again-off-again purchase of Twitter and perhaps even his proposing a peace plan for Russia and Ukraine that does not include a nuclear strike on Moscow.

https://mailchi.mp/ronpaulinstitute/justice?e=4e0de347c8

Oct. 24 – Josef Stalin’s top henchman famously said, “show me the man and I’ll show you the crime.” What it meant was that Soviet justice was about politics, not the rule of law. First decide who, for political reasons, is to be punished, and then the state will provide the crimes for which he will be charged.

This dark era of politicized “justice” has returned with former Trump campaign advisor Steve Bannon’s recent sentence to four months in jail for “contempt of Congress” over his refusal to appear before the House January 6th Committee.

How is it politicized justice for Bannon to be punished for ignoring a subpoena from the US Congress? Because many before him have been charged with contempt of Congress – including Democratic Party luminaries such as Eric Holder, Janet Reno, and Lois Lerner – and were never sentenced to jail time.

Bannon’s sentence is meant to convey a political message to America: if you support Trump you are a criminal and you may find yourself in a cell next to Steve Bannon.

And you do not have to support Trump to understand the danger in this. Everyone should be afraid of political justice. It cuts both ways and there is no guarantee that Republicans if they capture Congress will not also follow this precedent.

Sending your political opponents to jail is what happens in a banana republic. It is un-American. But here we are.

The goal of the January 6th Committee is not to seek justice for the “crime” of trespassing and putting feet on Pelosi’s sacred desk, but to make sure that Donald Trump is never allowed to run for President again. That is the reason hundreds have been unjustly arrested and held in terrible conditions for non-crimes. As they say, if you want to make an omelet you have to break some eggs.

Speaking of contempt of Congress, the real contempt is the existence of the January 6th Committee in the first place. It has been a partisan show trial from the beginning, where the only two “Republican” Members were not chosen by Republicans but by Nancy Pelosi. The purpose of the Committee has been to prop up the false narrative that somehow a few rowdy protesters who broke into the Capitol Building were the equivalent of the storming of the Bastille.

The US Administration is also involved in narrative control in other areas. The media reported last week that Tesla and Space-X chief Elon Musk has come under a “national security review” over, it seems, his on-again-off-again purchase of Twitter and perhaps even his proposing a peace plan for Russia and Ukraine that does not include a nuclear strike on Moscow.

Musk has also come under fire from the “cancel culture” Left over his repeated vows to return Twitter to a free speech platform once he is in charge. As we have seen in so many cases, including with former New York Times journalist Alex Berenson, Twitter has been working closely with the Biden Administration to silence and ban any users who dare challenge the “accepted wisdom” on Covid, Ukraine, and a number of other things.

When justice becomes tangled in politics, freedom and liberty go out the window. We are not so naïve to think this is something that just arrived with the Biden Administration, but there seems little doubt it is spreading like a cancer. We must reject political justice if the Republic is to survive.
