This is about the Erie PA school district getting state money to help balance it’s budget. Board member Harkins complained to PA education secretary Rivera about having to take 10 hours of budget training annually.
The School budget-Harkins-Rivera-Jail time saga made for a good show but was doomed from the start.
The state uses men with guns and badges to take our money, usually before we have had a chance to look at it. We are made to beg and jump through flaming hoops to get what is ours back, less a service charge. Then there are the pages of rules and regs that dictate how we can use our returned goods. Ten hours of annual training due to budgetary ineptitude in this case.
The humorous thing is Secretary Rivera works for the same state that owns a crumbling transportation system caused by reallocating highway taxes to help pay for a myriad of other poorly run projects.
It is all about power, control and job justification. The higher up the government totem pole the smarter they are and the more we are like ants from the top of a capitol dome. No doubt big government lovers view this as a victory.
Some insight from Ronald Reagan – The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’
