I recently have advocated the use of cash over plastic to prevent tracking of your person and your purchases. The benefit for others comes when it is time to gift. Cash offers an obvious advantage for the recipient. Gifting provides another.
Tips are taxable, gifts up to a point are not.

Do your service provider a favor and lower their tax bill.
