The Fresh Face of Stalinism – LewRockwell

Posted by M. C. on March 28, 2019

Promises of the free stuff never worked, whether in the ancient Rome, Soviet Russia, Cuba, Vietnam, North Korea or Venezuela.

Marxist-Leninist program could “work” only when coupled with the mass murder practiced by the Soviet Union, China, and socialist puppet regimes of the Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shocked political observers after defeating 10-term incumbent Congressman Joe Crowley, D-N.Y., in the Democratic primary for New York’s 14th District by nearly 14 points at the 2016 primaries. Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez calls Ocasio-Cortez “the future of our party.

The 29-year-old “Democratic socialist” has used her popularity in the mainstream media to move Democratic Party further down to socialism. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ran on the same platform as Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong.

Her program of the socialist revolution in the United States is named the Green New Deal and uses the threat of the presumed “climate change” as the valid reason for a complete socialist takeover of the U.S. economy. “A Green New Deal will require the following: … providing and leveraging, in a way that ensures that the public receives appropriate ownership stakes and returns on investment, adequate capital (including through community grants, public banks, and other public financing), technical expertise, supporting policies, and other forms of assistance to communities, organizations, Federal, State, and local government agencies, and businesses working on the Green New Deal mobilization.” It is obvious that the public receiving “appropriate ownership stakes” is an acknowledgement that the government will own the means of production what is socialism. All promises and talking points of the Green New Deal can be found in the Manifesto of the Communist Party and the Soviet Union’s “Stalin’s Constitution”. It includes the government-guaranteed medical care, housing, education and the “right to work”. She goes even farther to guarantee jobs for everyone “unable or unwilling to work”. Stalin dealt with the “unwilling” differently, – they would be shot on the spot. Only after his death Soviet socialists “mellowed” and would “only” deport the “unwilling” to the forced labor camps in Siberia….

Climate Change Activist Admits: Being Green “Requires the End of Capitalism” | Mises Wire

Posted by M. C. on March 27, 2019

https://mises.org/wire/climate-change-activist-admits-being-green-requires-end-capitalism

Well, at least they’re now being honest about it. A headline this week in The Guardian reads: “Ending climate change requires the end of capitalism. Have we got the stomach for it?”

The article, by Phil McDuff, goes on the discuss the “Green New Deal” currently being peddled in the US Congress, and declares a radical turn toward socialism is really at the heart of saving the planet from climate change:

The radical economics isn’t a hidden clause, but a headline feature. Climate change is the result of our current economic and industrial system. GND-style proposals marry sweeping environmental policy changes with broader socialist reforms because the level of disruption required to keep us at a temperature anywhere below “absolutely catastrophic” is fundamentally, on a deep structural level, incompatible with the status quo.

The “status quo,” we have now is a form of capitalism that is highly regulated by states, manipulated by immensely powerful central banks, and distorted by global NGOs like the World Bank. Nevertheless, this system contains enough of a semblance of market-based freedom that many leftwing ideologues regard it as a type of radical laissez-faire capitalism marked by unrestrained and fossil-fuel powered consumption.

Not surprisingly, they think this system must be abolished.

Unfortunately for the billions of human beings who have benefited from what market freedom exists, the new green-socialist global state imagined by McDuff will undo decades of gains against grinding poverty — gains enjoyed by the world’s most at-risk and poorest populations.

The Decline of Poverty — and Its Effects — In the Developing World

Quality of life indicators have been consistently moving upward in recent decades…

But, pointing to a photo of a low-income women slaving over a wash basin, Rosling asks: “How can we tell this woman that she isn’t going to have a washing machine?”

It’s a good question, and it’s also a reminder that much of the talk over carbon taxes and climate regulations smack of first-world chauvinism. The rich world already has its cars and its washing machines. Sure, a global climate scheme would reduce the wealth of people in the rich world, but the impact in China, India, Africa, and South America — where most live closer to subsistence levels —would be far more devastating.

For many environmentally-minded suburban upper-middle class people in North America and Europe, this is just tough luck and bad timing for everyone else.

Greenpeace Co-Founder: ‘Climate Crisis Is Not Only Fake News. It’s Fake Science’ | The Daily Caller

Posted by M. C. on March 13, 2019

https://dailycaller.com/2019/03/12/greenpeace-patrick-moore-climate-crisis-fake-news-fake-science/

David Krayden | Ottawa Bureau Chief

Co-founder of environmental organization Greenpeace Patrick Moore said Tuesday that the climate change crisis driving much of liberal politics today “is not only fake news. It’s fake science.”

Moore also wondered during his appearance on “Fox & Friends” why people would be worried about global warming: “A little bit of warming would not be a bad thing, for myself being Canadian.”

Moore bounced back into the climate change debate last week in an online feud with New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez after he blasted her Green New Deal for being not ambitious but ridiculous. (RELATED: Report: Rep. Ocasio-Cortez Has Violated Her Own Green New Deal)

“Well, it’s a silly plan; that’s why I suggested she was a pompous little twit, twit meaning silly in the British lexicon,” Moore told Fox, adding, “She really rubbed me the wrong way when she said she’s ‘the boss’ because she can make up a proposal that’s completely ridiculous, and nobody else did.” Read the rest of this entry »

Why “climate change deniers” are better for the environment than politicians | The Daily Bell

Posted by M. C. on March 10, 2019

The UN’s Christiana Figueres said: The climate agenda is about destroying capitalism.

Climate change is the McGuffin. Alfred Hitchcock’s name for the reason for the story but not really the story. The uranium filled wine bottle in “Notorious”.

The only thing slated for be changed is you. Being told how to live in a government controlled socialist/communist environment.

Collectively, most of these environmentalists people acted through their privileged group called the Club of Rome. The founding meeting of the Club occurred in 1968 at David Rockefeller’s estate in Bellagio, Italy. In their 1994 book “The First Global Revolution,” they declared:

“The common enemy of humanity is man. In searching for a new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like would fit the bill. All these dangers are caused by human intervention, and it is only through changed attitudes and behavior that they can be overcome. The real enemy then, is humanity itself.”

That is right, YOU are the enemy.

Well no, David Rockefeller was and George Soros and David Attenborough are the enemy.

As I have said before I believe the future envisioned by Figueres is predicted by Isaac Asimov’s “Caves of Steel”.

By Joe Jarvis

Skeptics of human-caused climate change are more environmentally conscious than people who believe climate change is undeniably caused by human action.

A study last year found that climate change skeptics were more likely than the most ardent believers to adjust personal behavior to be more environmentally conscious.

“Belief in climate change predicted support for government policies to combat climate change, but did not generally translate to individual-level, self-reported pro-environmental behavior,” said the paper.

So they want the government to step in and force people to reduce their “carbon footprint,” but they aren’t willing to simply make those changes in their own lives. It’s the selfish attitude, why should I sacrifice if everyone else isn’t going to?

Except that normal people already treat their environment well, even as they are skeptical of how big the crisis really is, and what exactly caused it.

Meanwhile, climate change zealots aren’t doing their fair share to be environmentally conscious.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez proves this point.

There are few details about her “Green New Deal,” just general goals like achieving “net-zero” carbon emissions.

But when confronted with easy “green” choices, she simply didn’t care enough to walk the walk. Read the rest of this entry »

Greenpeace Co-Founder on AOC: ‘Pompous Little Twit’ — Green New Deal Would Cause ‘Mass Death’

Posted by M. C. on March 4, 2019

I left @Greenpeace 33 years ago because they were hijacked by eco-fascists.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/03/03/greenpeace-co-founder-aoc-pompous-little-twit-green-new-deal-would-cause-mass-death/

Moore, who now calls himself a “sensible environmentalist,” got attention for his tweet about Ocasio-Cortez

The Inquistr reported:

Despite Patrick Moore having a relatively modest social media following on Twitter, his acerbic words for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez drew nearly 7,000 likes in somewhat short order. As IdeaCity details, Moore is no stranger to public controversy and debate, having departed from the organization which he co-founded — Greenpeace — because activists and other sensationalists had, in his view, hijacked the meaning and the motivations behind the environmental and scientific communities.

Upon being informed by a Twitter follower that it was regrettable that “AOC” would have her voice heard to a much greater magnitude than his, Moore replied in equally blunt fashion.

“It won’t be long until she is exposed for the pompous know-nothing she is. Then again, that may work in her favour!!”

In a biography posted on the Heartland Institute’s website, Moore’s long and distinguished career is detailed, including his work to fight Greenpeace’s misguided opposition to “Golden Rice,” an essential food to fight disease and death.

“In 2013 Dr. Moore, with his brother Michael and other family members, founded the Allow Golden Rice Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to seeing Golden Rice approved for commercial agriculture. 250 million children, mainly in tropical countries, are deficient in vitamin A and as a result, 2 million die each year. The Allow Golden Rice Now! campaign demands that Greenpeace and their allies discontinue their campaign of opposition to Golden Rice, which could eliminate vitamin A deficiency if cultivated and consumed.”

Gas-guzzling car rides expose AOC’s hypocrisy amid Green New Deal pledge

Posted by M. C. on March 4, 2019

Like with ANY politician-It is about controlling YOU.

https://nypost.com/2019/03/02/gas-guzzling-car-rides-expose-aocs-hypocrisy-amid-green-new-deal-pledge/

By Isabel Vincent and Melissa Klein

Freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants to save the planet with her Green New Deal, but she keeps tripping over her own giant carbon footprint.

“We’re like, ‘The world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change,’ ” the progressive darling said in January, speaking of herself and her fellow millennials. “And, like, this is the war; this is our World War II.”

Last week, she ratcheted up the rhetoric: “It is basically a scientific consensus that the lives of our children are going to be very difficult” due to climate change. “And it does lead young people to have a legitimate question: is it OK to still have children?”

The guiding principle of her eco-vision is to bring about “a full transition off fossil fuels and zero greenhouse gases” within 10 years.

To achieve this, the GND fact sheet says, the nation must “totally overhaul transportation by massively expanding electric vehicle manufacturing, build charging stations everywhere, build out high-speed rail … create affordable public transit available to all, with goal to replace every combustion-engine vehicle.”

But the woman who boasts of a “razor-sharp BS detector” seems to have trouble sniffing out her own.

Since declaring her candidacy in May 2017, Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign heavily relied on those combustible-engine cars — even though a subway station was just 138 feet from her Elmhurst campaign office.

She listed 1,049 transactions for Uber, Lyft, Juno and other car services, federal filings show. The campaign had 505 Uber expenses alone.

In all, Ocasio-Cortez spent $29,365.70 on those emissions-spewing vehicles, along with car and van rentals — even though her Queens HQ was a one-minute walk to the 7 train.

The campaign shelled out only $8,335.41 on 52 MetroCard transactions…

EconomicPolicyJournal.com: The Facts You Need To Know That Will Allow You to Destroy Green New Deal Thinking

Richard A. Epstein, the Peter and Kirsten Bedford Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, the Laurence A. Tisch Professor of Law, New York University Law School, and senior lecturer at the University of Chicago, calls Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal a pie-in-the-sky proposal.

When you want to counter an argument of a GND supporter point out to them the Epstein facts listed below.

The below observations by Epstein are the best demobilization of AOC’s proposal that I have come across. This how you destroy  GND.

The Green New Deal blueprint introduced by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was crafted by three far-left organizations and is being pushed by a coalition of well-funded professional progressive groups and known leftist agitators.

Some of the organizations helping to promote the Green New Deal have ties to financing from billionaire George Soros and trace their roots to such radical groups as Occupy Wall Street and Black Lives Matter.

Earlier this month, Ocasio-Cortez posted an 11-page Google document in the form of a nonbinding legislative resolution that has become the most authoritative version of the Green New Deal, a broad outline for the current conception of the socialist-style plan. Read the rest of this entry »

New Deals (Even Green Ones) Are Bonanzas For Big Business

Posted by M. C. on February 18, 2019

https://townhall.com/columnists/jonahgoldberg/2019/02/15/new-deals-even-green-ones-are-bonanzas-for-big-business-n2541520

Amazon is taking its ball and going home, and New York Democrats are actually celebrating.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the deal New York and Amazon worked out. I don’t like corporate welfare, and the race among municipalities to bribe businesses to set up shop in their backyards has a lot of problems. The news that Amazon is spurning the Big Apple and searching for a different location will undoubtedly spark an unseemly frenzy among other cities, reminiscent of the search for the last golden ticket in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.”

But what’s just astounding to me is how Democrats can (almost in one breath, figuratively speaking) champion a Green New Deal that would use the powers of the state — taxes, subsidies, regulatory bullying, etc. — to herd whole industries into alignment with their vision of a just and green society, and at the same time denounce these very tactics when actually put into practice.

The most prominent architect of the GND is New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Under her proposal, cows might suffer, but humans will thrive thanks to all the wonderful new jobs and free health care her utopian scheme would provide.

AOC, as she’s ubiquitously called, rejects the idea that traditional market economics or fiscal bookkeeping should be any hindrance to her scheme.

“I think the first thing that we need to do is kind of break the mistaken idea that taxes pay for 100 percent of government expenditure,” she recently told NPR’s Steve Inskeep. “It’s just not how government expenditure works. … Government projects are often financed by a combination of taxes, deficit spending and other kinds of investments — you know, bonds and so on.”

When Inskeep pointed out to her that deficit spending is “borrowing money that has to be paid back eventually through taxes,” AOC reversed herself with an impressive lack of embarrassment, saying that’s OK because this isn’t spending, it’s investing. Borrowing tens of trillions for her “investments” will pay for itself, “Because we’re creating jobs.”

EconomicPolicyJournal.com: AOC’s Green Great Leap Forward is Nothing Short of Destruction of Life as We Know It

Posted by M. C. on February 17, 2019

The plan is so generous that it promises an income even to people, according to the Democrat’s press release, who refuse to work still will be provided a “living wage” income.

Alexandria Occasional-Cortex

https://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2019/02/aocs-green-great-leap-forward-is.html

By William L. Anderson

In what its supporters have claimed is “visionary,” the congressional media darling, Alexandria Occasio-Cortez (AOC) has released her short-awaited Green New Deal , and she has called for nothing short of destruction of life as we have known it:
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said she has no qualms about acknowledging a so-called “Green New Deal” will mean unprecedented governmental intrusion into the private sector. Appearing on NPR, she was asked if she’s prepared to tell Americans outright that her plans involve “massive government intervention.”
On one level, AOC is being honest; such a plan would be unprecedented, at least in the United States, but it hardly would be the first government-led massive intrusion into a nation’s economy. The 20 th Century was full of such intervention, beginning with World War I, and continuing through the years of communist governments. The century was full of intervention, and the earth was full of the dead bodies to prove it. What AOC and her political allies, including most Democrats that have declared they will run for the U.S. Presidency, are demanding is the U.S. version of Mao’s utterly-disastrous Great Leap Forward.
For all of the so-called specifics, the Green New Deal (GND) reads like a socialist website which is full of rhetoric, promises, and statements that assume a bunch of planners sitting around tables can replicate a complex economy that feeds, transports, and houses hundreds of millions of people. The New York Times declares the plan to give “ substance to an idea that had been a mostly vague rallying cry for a stimulus package around climate change, but its prospects are uncertain.”
Actually, there is nothing we can call “substance” in this proposal if we mean “substance” to be a realistic understanding that it would be impossible to re-direct via central planning nearly every factor of production in the U.S. economy from one set of uses to another, since that is what the proposed legislation actually requires. For example, the following is what AOC and others call the “scope” of the proposed law:
(A) The Plan for a Green New Deal (and the draft legislation) shall be developed with the objective of reaching the following outcomes within the target window of 10 years from the start of execution of the Plan:
