Maryland Lawmakers Suggest Four-Day Workweek Program Where People Work Less And Receive The Same Pay | The Daily Wire

Posted by M. C. on January 28, 2023

Employers choosing to do this is one thing but…likely shortages, how many months for an appointment?, does this apply to police and hospitals, having to hire more people to get the same work done, more benefit expenses, skyrocketing costs, skyrocketing prices.

For those that haven’t been paying attention this is called central planning. That thing the Soviet Union did for 70 years before it died.

Lawmakers in Maryland are weighing legislation that would encourage government agencies and private employers to adopt a four-day workweek.

Proposals for a four-day week of eight-hour days, during which compensation would not be reduced from former levels, have increased in recent years after a worldwide study found that earnings improved for participating companies. State Sen. Shelly Hettleman (D) and several members of the Maryland General Assembly introduced the Four–Day Workweek Act for the purpose of “promoting, incentivizing, and supporting” experimentation with the arrangement.

“There’s growing evidence that reducing work hours boosts both happiness and productivity. Let’s try it,” State Del. Vaughn Stewart (D) contended on social media.

The legislation provides state tax credits as high as $750,000 per year for businesses that reduce at least 30 employees from a 40-hour week to a 32-hour week without a “reduction in pay or benefits.” The initiative, which would be managed by the Maryland Department of Labor, may likewise allow government agencies to participate and track their results.

Supporters of four-day workweek frameworks emphasize the arrangement’s benefits for employee wellbeing and work-life balance. Some 45% of workers cite lackluster flexibility when discussing why they left their previous jobs, while roughly 48% mention childcare difficulties, according to a survey from Pew Research Center. The aforementioned international study concluded that revenues increased 8% for companies involved with the experiment.

Is This The Beginning Of The End For Gun Control? | ZeroHedge

Posted by M. C. on December 19, 2021

The question presented is: “Whether the Constitution allows the government to prohibit law-abiding, responsible citizens from protecting themselves, their families, and their homes with a type of “Arms” that are in common use for lawful purposes?”

Submitted by The Machine Gun Nest (TMGN).,

If you haven’t heard yet, Firearms Policy Coalition has filed what may be one of the most critical petitions for writ of certiorari for Marylanders and possibly gun owners in general in the case Bianchi v. Frosh. The case itself centers around the Maryland “Assault Weapons Ban” (AWB), also known as SB281 or the Firearms Safety Act of 2013.

But before we dive into the law itself, let’s look at the question being proposed to the Supreme Court in this writ of certiorari. The question presented is: “Whether the Constitution allows the government to prohibit law-abiding, responsible citizens from protecting themselves, their families, and their homes with a type of “Arms” that are in common use for lawful purposes?”The way this question is asked, we can see that if decided in favor of gun owners, the overturning of the Maryland AWB would be an unprecedented victory for gun owners nationwide. A Repudiation of assault weapon bans would free states like California, Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey from their tyrannical state governments who’ve imposed their versions of this “Assault Weapon Ban.” FPC’s Adam Kraut affirmed that position saying, “This case presents the Court with an ideal vehicle to both address the scope of protected arms and constitutionally infirm analysis applied by these recalcitrant lower courts.”The petition correctly describes the term “Assault Weapons” as a “pejorative and inaccurate label for a category of common semi-automatic firearms.” Then quoting directly from Heller goes on to describe those same firearms as “in common use” and “typically possessed by law-abiding citizens for lawful purposes.”Maryland’s AWB is an assortment of inconsistent rules and regulations thought up by bureaucrats in Annapolis who have little understanding of firearms they seek to regulate. A few examples of inconsistencies: AK pattern rifle chambered in 7.62×39? Banned. AK pattern rifle chambered in 5.45×39? Good to go. AK Pistol in 7.62×39? Good to go. The only difference between the banned rifle and pistol? The stock. It also bans the AR15 and other “Scary” looking rifles but allows AR15s that conform to a Heavy Barrel Profile, or HBAR. It also allows for rifles that are functionally identical to the AR15, like the Ruger Mini 14.Ultimately, we won’t know if the Supreme Court will hear the case until sometime in 2022, as The Supreme Court will hear it in their 2022 session. But the chances are good for the Court to take this case up. Many of the Justices have signaled that they’re ready to hear 2nd Amendment cases. If the recent NYSRPA v. Bruen is any indication, we will likely see them tackle more gun rights issues that have far-reaching implications. Also, the makeup of the Court has changed in recent years. With the addition of Amy Comey Barrett replacing Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Court has a solid conservative majority. As lower court judges, Justice Barrett and Justice Kavanaugh signaled they think courts need to rethink the framework used to often measure how gun regulations are evaluated. This framework is known as “Intermediate Scrutiny.” When intermediate scrutiny is applied, a law has more of a chance to survive legal challenges because the government must prove only that it is “substantially related to an important government interest.”This intermediate scrutiny clause is what has kept not only the Maryland Assault Weapon ban in place but many other AWBs nationwide. If the Justices are looking for a case that has far-reaching consequences for the 2nd Amendment and the process by which states uphold these unconstitutional laws, they need look no further than Bianchi v. Frost. This is why I posed the question: “Is this the beginning of the end for gun control?”In our coverage of gun control issues over the past year, we’ve seen a clear pathway that the anti-gun lobby is taking. Using the NFA, 1968 GCA, FOPA, and other gun control laws on the books, they’ve managed to ban Bump Stocks and inch closer and closer to regulating semi-automatic firearms under the NFA or outright ban them. This Case, Bianchi v. Frost, would put a significant roadblock in front of that.

Maryland Gov. Orders “Drastic Actions” – The Organic Prepper

Posted by M. C. on March 17, 2020

Hogan says State Troopers and National Guard will enforce orders saying “We’re not playing around anymore.” “Emergency orders will carry the full force of the law,” Hogan re-iterated.

Maryland Governor Larry Hogan announced a series of dramatic executive orders today to prevent the spread of coronavirus. These actions are to be enforced by police and the National Guard.

According to WBAL-TV he ordered the following social distancing measures.

  • shut down all bars, restaurants, gyms and movie theaters, effectively starting at 5 p.m. Monday. Drive through and carry out services will be allowed to continue.
  • Following CDC guidelines, settings of 50 of more individuals will be prohibited across the state, including social and recreational events and religious and sports gatherings. (source)

These measures will be strongly enforced. Anne Arundel First Alert reports:

Hogan says State Troopers and National Guard will enforce orders saying “We’re not playing around anymore.” “Emergency orders will carry the full force of the law,” Hogan re-iterated.

“We have never faced anything like this before, said Hogan. He continued, citing “Drastic actions” being taken right now. He warned Marylanders the orders may seem scary and may sound extreme, it is absolutely necessary. (source)

Hogan has ordered the activation of 250 State Troopers for emergency service, 400 Army and Air National Guard, and 1000 more MD National Guard. As well, 1200 Maryland guardsmen are on enhanced readiness status if they are needed.

They will also increase medical resources and provide financial relief.

As well, any hospitals that have been closed will be re-opened to increase the capacity in the state by 6000 beds. They will also allow doctors and nurses with out-of-state licenses to practice in Maryland.

For those who may be financially struggling, the following orders were put in place:

  • Essential services such as grocery stores, banks and gas stations will be allowed to remain open.
  • The executive order prohibits utilities, such as electric, gas, water, sewage, cable, internet and phone lines, to be cut off nor incur late fees.
  • Evictions have been prohibited.
  • Maryland State Superintendent of Schools Karen Salmon has applied for a Federal waiver to provide three meals a day plus a snack to those who need it. Statewide, 138 centers already up and operating. Visit MDSummerMeals.org to find all participating locations. (source)

To some degree, this answers our questions about whether or not utilities will remain working. It appears that governments will try to keep things like power, water, and internet running as normally as possible for as long as possible.

How long with these extreme measures last?

According to Gov. Hogan, “It is impossible to know how long this threat will continue.”

This shows you how fast things can change.

These announcements were made at 11 o’clock Monday morning and take effect this afternoon at 5 pm. Our situation is extremely fluid and you can expect things to change rapidly.  For more advice on preparing for quarantines, go here.

Once the lockdowns begin occurring, expect them to quickly spread across the country. If you haven’t purchased everything you need, go here for advice on what to buy when the things you want are out of stock.

You need to be where you intend to be to ride this thing out, and you need to have what you want to have. Time is quickly running out, if it hasn’t already. Today, it’s Maryland. By the end of the week, it could be the entire country.

Demetrius Pitts charged in Cleveland bomb plot after FBI sting

Posted by M. C. on July 2, 2018

This time and effort could have been spent stopping a former Maryland newspaper employee who was all over social media advertising he wants to take out the paper with employees telling cops the same thing.

fbd65970e5519a3c42439a3218536150

the FBI took a closer look and determined that Pitts was interested in joining al Qaeda, training overseas and returning to the U.S. to stage an attack, the complaint said.

Pitts didn’t want to meet any terrorists, didn’t want to plan, didn’t want to do anything except watch. This is the same guy the FIB ‘determined’ wanted to go to the ME and train with the nasties.

Pitts couldn’t even figure out how to get a bus pass with FIB help. The FIB admits this clown couldn’t pull this off by himself. This is a sad joke.

So he wants to behead Trump, so does all of Hollywood. I don’t see the FIB arresting this has been. Oh yah, Griffin and the FIB are on the same side.

We are better off putting this guy where he can’t hurt himself or anyone else but… This is closer to a traffic stop than a major terrorism bust. This another half baked sting op focused on a halfwit, sort of wannabe to make the FIB look like it is doing something. Pathetic.

Think about that Maryland.

An Ohio man was charged Monday with plotting a Fourth of July terrorist bombing in Cleveland after a sting operation by the FBI, which gave him a bus pass so he could travel to scope out targets. Read the rest of this entry »
