Where is JFK When You Need Him? – The Future of Freedom Foundation

Posted by M. C. on January 30, 2022

What are the chances that President Biden will stand up to the Pentagon and the CIA and come up with a satisfactory resolution of the Ukraine crisis? Slim and none. No president since Kennedy has been willing to stand up to the national-security establishment. It’s not difficult to understand why.

President Kennedy had a unique way of viewing his communist adversaries during the Cold War. He would put himself in their shoes and try to figure out what was motivating them to take the actions they were taking. He would then attempt to fashion a solution to a particular crisis that satisfied the other side’s concerns.

America’s Cold War generals lacked the mental capacity to think at that level. Their mindsets were always in terms of black and white: Communists are bad and cannot be trusted. There can never be negotiation with communists. Kill all communists.

A good example of this dichotomy occurred during the Cuban Missile Crisis, which brought the United States and the Soviet Union to within an inch of all-out nuclear war.

When Pentagon and CIA officials discovered that the Soviets were installing nuclear missiles in Cuba, their position was that Kennedy needed to immediately start bombing Cuba and then follow up with a full-scale ground invasion. Their position was much the same as the Russian position today with respect to Ukraine: They didn’t want Russian nuclear missiles pointed at the U.S. from only 90 miles away, just as today Russia doesn’t want U.S. nuclear missiles pointed at Russia from along Russian borders.

Thus, for the generals, the situation was black and white. In their minds, the only way to deal with this problem was to show toughness by bombing and invading Cuba. For them, failure to do that would display “weakness,” which would only encourage the worldwide communist movement.

Much to the anger and even rage of the generals, Kennedy took a different position. He tried to figure out what was motivating the Russians to engage in this dangerous nuclear brinkmanship.

Rather than immediately start bombing and invading Cuba, Kennedy imposed a blockade on the island, which he called a “quarantine.” It prohibited any Soviet ships with missiles from proceeding to Cuba.

At the same time, Kennedy figured out that the Soviets had placed their missiles in Cuba for two reasons:

One, the Soviets and the Cubans knew that the Pentagon and the CIA were hell-bent on effecting regime-change in Cuba through violence. Even though the CIA’s invasion of Cuba at the Bay of Pigs had failed miserably, the Soviets and the Cubans knew that the Pentagon and the CIA were more determined than ever to oust the Cuban communist regime from power and install another pro-U.S. dictatorship, either through assassination, terrorism, or outright military invasion.

That, of course, is what the CIA’s assassination plots against Castro, in partnership with the Mafia, were all about. The Soviets and the Cubans were also right about the Pentagon’s and the CIA’s insistence on invading Cuba. Consider, for example, Operation Northwoods. That was a top-secret plan that was unanimously approved by the Joint Chiefs of Staff that provided fraudulent pretexts for war with Cuba. To Kennedy’s everlasting credit, he rejected any and all plans that entailed fraudulent pretexts for war with Cuba.

Two, the U.S. government had nuclear missiles based in Turkey that were pointed at the Soviet Union. Given such, the Soviet position was that it had as much right to install its nuclear missiles in Cuba that were pointed at the United States.

Kennedy figured all this out and decided to fashion a solution based on his insights into why the Soviets were behaving in that way. The solution entailed a promise that the United States would not invade Cuba, along with a separate secret side promise to remove U.S. nuclear missiles from Turkey. The Soviets, for their part, agreed to remove their missiles from Cuba and take them home. The crisis was over.

But not the war between Kennedy and the Pentagon and the CIA, which had gotten increasingly worse after the Bay of Pigs fiasco. The generals were livid with Kennedy. During the crisis, Gen. Curtis LeMay, who loathed Kennedy, compared his actions to those of Neville Chamberlain at Munich. After the crisis was over, LeMay called Kennedy’s resolution of the crisis the biggest defeat in U.S. history.

There is no reasonable doubt that this was when the national-security establishment decided that Kennedy needed to be removed from office and replaced by Vice-President Lyndon Johnson, who was on the same Cold War page as the Pentagon and the CIA. By his failure to provide needed air support for the Cuban exiles at the Bay of Pigs, followed by his failure to approve Operation Northwoods, through his decision to leave Cuba permanently in communist hands, and by his decision to withdraw America’s nuclear missiles from Turkey, as far as the Pentagon and the CIA were concerned, Kennedy had proven that he was not capable of confronting and defeating the supposed communist threat to America.

For his part, after the Cuban Missile Crisis, Kennedy realized the role that the Pentagon and the CIA had played in causing the crisis. If the Pentagon and the CIA had not been hell-bent on bringing about regime change in Cuba and had not installed U.S. nuclear missiles in Turkey aimed at the Soviet Union, the Soviets would not have placed their nuclear missiles in Cuba.

More important, Kennedy came to the realization that the entire Cold War was nothing but a highly dangerous and destructive racket. Therefore, in June 1963, he delivered his famous Peace Speech at American University, where he effectively declared an end to the Cold War and called for peaceful and friendly relations with the Soviet Union and the rest communist world. If there was anyone in the military and CIA hierarchy who still had doubts that Kennedy needed yo be removed from office in order to save America from a communist takeover, those doubts would have been eliminated after JFK’s Peace Speech.

Don’t forget, after all, that establishing peaceful and friendly relations with the communist world is why the CIA violently ousted the democratically elected Guatemalan president, Jacob Arbenz, in 1954 and why the CIA would orchestrate the violent ouster of Chile’s democratically elected president, Salvador Allende, from 1970 through 1973.

Kennedy was not a dumb man. He knew the dangers he was facing from his national-security establishment. That was why he helped to make the novel Seven Days in May, which posited the danger of a military takeover, into a movie. He wanted to warn the American people of the dangers posed by the national-security state governmental system, which America had adopted after World War II. Before you call Kennedy a “conspiracy theorist” though, keep in mind that President Eisenhower, in his farewell address, had also warned the American people of the dangers that the military-industrial complex posed to America’s democratic processes. Keep in mind also President Truman’s op-ed that was published in the Washington Post only a month after the Kennedy assassination stating that the CIA had become a sinister force in American life.

What are the chances that President Biden will stand up to the Pentagon and the CIA and come up with a satisfactory resolution of the Ukraine crisis? Slim and none. No president since Kennedy has been willing to stand up to the national-security establishment. It’s not difficult to understand why. EMAIL

Bipartisanship: US House Races MASSIVE Ukraine Weapons Transfer to the Floor! – LewRockwell LewRockwell.com

Posted by M. C. on January 27, 2022

The Clinton/Blinken US state department is hell bent on war. Neither the pentagram nor Ukraine are worried about Russia.
Don’t be surprised when the “false flag” waves.

“Said Ukrainian Defense Secretary Alexey Danilov:
As of today, we don’t see any grounds for statements about a full-scale offensive on our territory. It’s even physically impossible… Maybe, [seeing Russian troops] is an oddity to our foreign partners who finally saw that there are Russian forces and they move a certain way.”

Ron Paul Institute

In Washington the global US military empire is a bipartisan affair. With a trillion dollar yearly military budget, there are plenty of opportunities for both the position and the opposition parties to thrust snouts deeply into the trough.

While Ron Paul was in Congress and GW Bush was president, we did a good deal to craft a bipartisan antiwar coalition in opposition to the Iraq war and other Bush-ite neocon misadventures.  Then Obama was elected and pursued the same policies of global military empire – but with a better smile – and our coalition disintegrated. Suddenly the Democrats (with a couple of exceptions) were uninterested in the antiwar issue.

Such is the case now, when Obama’s great “success” – the US-led coup in Ukraine – is back in the headlines. Now Obama’s second fiddle is “in charge” of things and those under him who pull the levers are determined to solidify their “great achievement” of peeling Ukraine away from its neighbor and dropping that basket-case into the lap of Brussels and Washington. So for the past five weeks they have been ginning up the idea that Russia is about to invade Ukraine – even when Ukraine’s own defense secretary is practically laughing at Washington’s breathless assertions.

Said Ukrainian Defense Secretary Alexey Danilov:

As of today, we don’t see any grounds for statements about a full-scale offensive on our territory. It’s even physically impossible… Maybe, [seeing Russian troops] is an oddity to our foreign partners who finally saw that there are Russian forces and they move a certain way.

It must be comical for Russia to sit back and watch the US Keystone Kops at the helm of foreign policy blunder and bluster, with Biden’s press secretary insisting that a Russian invasion of Ukraine is “imminent” even as the Ukrainians – who are in a position to know and also in a position to benefit if it was true – pour cold water on the Biden war-fear-porn.

But when it comes to Fed-generated counterfeit money, Congress is always ready to sprinkle plenty around to their favorite causes – usually war and corporatism.

That is why House Democrats are desperately trying to ram through a massive “free weapons” bill for Ukraine before the current lapdog media-driven “RUSSIA INVASION” propaganda dies down.

Just as Big Pharma is rushing to put a new omicron variant vaccine on the market before their Covid gravy train dies out, Washington’s Democratic warmongers (with plenty of Republican fellow travelers) are rushing to send half a billion dollars in weapons to Ukraine before the casual MSM consumer learns (they’re always last to know) that the whole “Russia is about to invade Ukraine” cook-up is another lie.

US military aid overseas is corporate welfare for US Beltway weapons manufacturers who in turn kick back millions to fund pro-war politicians and more millions to fund pro-war “think tanks” who warn us that there are Reds under every bed and that we need to spend moar moar moar!

As The Intercept reports, Pelosi is worried that the “RUSSIA IS INVADING” panic will wear off too soon, so she is “looking to skip marking up the bill and move it straight to the House floor, setting up the possibility of a vote as soon as early next week.”

Angry to be left out of the fleecing of America for foreign interests frenzy, Republicans are racing to offer more of our money to protect the borders of corrupt Ukraine (while foreign invaders are given the red carpet treatment on our borders):

Republicans have offered their own measures. Earlier this month in the House, Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, the lead Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, introduced the Guaranteeing Ukrainian Autonomy by Reinforcing its Defense Act, a companion bill to a measure sponsored by Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair Jim Risch, R-Idaho. The bill would give Ukraine $450 million from the State Department’s FMF account and impose sanctions related to the Nord Stream 2 project immediately, without waiting for an escalation as in the Democrats’ bill.

Only $450 million? Come on Republicans! Surely you can do better to flush our money down the foreign policy toilet! Slackers!

As the great Pat Buchanan once said, “Our two parties have become nothing but two wings of the same bird of prey.”

Indeed, Mr. Buchanan. Indeed!

Europe in the Trenches Against the “Invented Enemy” – Global ResearchGlobal Research – Centre for Research on Globalization

Posted by M. C. on January 27, 2022

By Manlio Dinucci

The State Department, “as a precautionary measure against a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine”, ordered the evacuation of family members and part of the staff from the U.S. Embassy in Kiev, which with 900 officials is among the largest in Europe, and raised to level 4 of risk, the maximum, the warning to U.S. citizens not to go to Ukraine. Immediately afterwards the Foreign Office announced, with the same motivation, the withdrawal of staff from the British Embassy in Kiev. These operations of psychological warfare, aimed at creating alarm about an imminent Russian invasion of Ukraine and the three Baltic republics, prepare for a further and even more dangerous US-NATO escalation against Russia.

The White House announced that President Biden is considering “deploying several thousand U.S. troops, warships and aircraft to NATO countries in the Baltics and Eastern Europe.” Initially, 5,500 U.S. troops are expected to arrive, joining the 4,000 already in Poland and followed by thousands more, extending their permanent deployment to the Baltic, as Latvia has requested. Special rail convoys are already transporting U.S. tanks from Poland to Ukraine, whose armed forces have been trained for years, and in fact commanded by hundreds of U.S. military advisers and instructors flanked by others from NATO. Washington, which last year provided Kiev with weapons for the official amount of 650 million dollars, has authorized Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to transfer to Ukraine US weapons in their possession, in particular Javelin missiles. Other armaments are provided by Great Britain and the Czech Republic. The US Plan of an Afghanistan Inside Europe

NATO informs that the European countries of the Alliance are putting their armed forces in a state of operational readiness and sending other warships and fighter planes to the Eastern Europe deployments. Italy, with Eurofighter fighter-bombers, has taken command of NATO’s “enhanced air policing” mission in Romania. France is ready to send troops to Romania under NATO command. Spain is sending warships in NATO naval forces and fighter-bombers to Bulgaria. The Netherlands is preparing to send F-35 fighters to Bulgaria. Denmark is sending F-16 fighters to Lithuania. Yesterday began in the Mediterranean Sea the great NATO naval exercise Neptune Strike ’22 under the command of Vice Admiral Eugene Black, commander of the Sixth Fleet with headquarters in Naples Capodichino and base in Gaeta. The exercise, which lasts 12 days, involves the US nuclear aircraft carrier Harry Truman with its battle group, including 5 missile launchers ready for nuclear attack to “reassure the European Allies especially on the eastern front threatened by Russia”.

Immediately after the NATO Neptune Strike ’22, the exercise Mission Clemenceau 22 will take place in February. It will involve, in an “Operation of three aircraft carriers”, the French nuclear-powered Charles de Gaulle with its battle group, including a nuclear attack submarine, which will enter the Adriatic; the Harry Truman with its battle group and the Italian aircraft carrier Cavour with the F-35 on board. This exercise, of course, is also directed against Russia.

While NATO enjoins Russia to “de-escalate”, warning that “any further aggression will involve a high cost for Moscow”, the foreign ministers of the European Union – meeting in Brussels and connected by teleconference with the US Secretary of State Blinken – have decreed yesterday other measures against Russia. The European Union of 27, of which 21 belong to NATO under US command, echoes NATO’s warning to Russia, declaring that “any further military aggression against Ukraine would have very serious consequences for Russia”. In this way the EU participates in the strategy of tension, through which the U.S. create fractures in Europe to keep it under their influence.

Pentagon Vs. State: Biden Team At War With Itself Over Russia-Ukraine Invasion Narrative

Posted by M. C. on January 26, 2022

While the US Embassy in Kiev released a statement urging Americans to leave Ukraine due to the threat of a Russian invasion, the Pentagon continues to back down from the scare stories. The government of Ukraine continues to pour cold water on Biden Admin scare stories. Is this whole thing a dangerous propaganda play? Also today: Most expensive US Naval ship can’t even defend itself, which countries are most corrupt, and Fairfax County Schools declare war on new Republican governor (and parents) over masks.

Stop the Neocon From Starting a War – LewRockwell LewRockwell.com

Posted by M. C. on January 26, 2022

Beaten in Vietnam, Iraq and now Afghanistan, the US is seeking a cheap victory in Ukraine.  But the northern rim of the Black Sea is not known for its low-hanging geopolitical fruit.  And Russia always surprises.

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2022/01/eric-margolis/sto-the-neocon-from-starting-a-war/

By Eric S. Margolis

Amid surging tensions over Ukraine, the head of Germany’s navy had the courage to voice Europe’s fears over this totally unnecessary, contrived crisis.

In a speech to an Indian think tank, Vice-admiral Kay-Achim Schonbach proposed the Western powers ‘respect’ Russian leader Vladimir Putin and accept that Crimea would remain in Moscow’s hands.

The German admiral’s remarks produced a major uproar in Washington and tut tuts in Europe where hatred of Russia has become a state fetish.  Most aggrieved were the British and Americans who deeply fear an alliance or at least entente between Germany and Russia that might undermine US domination of the continent.

Germany, Europe’s leading military force and mainstay of NATO, has hollowed out its military power.  Thanks to unqualified female defense ministers, Germany’s armed forces have degenerated into parade troops.  Armor and aircraft, once hallmarks of German military power, have become feeble toys, lacking in munitions, spare parts and capable crews.

Polls show Germans have very little interest in confronting Russia.  Memories of World War II are still raw.  Today’s Germans live in a nation that was 50% destroyed by US and British bombing.  Millions of Germans come from families driven out of eastern Europe.

There is not a lot of sympathy for Ukraine’s current government that was installed by a US-financed and stage-managed coup in 2013-2014.  Germany’s US-dominated media and government support Washington’s hard line on Ukraine but many ordinary Germans and French don’t agree.

America’s media and politicians strongly support the military confrontation with Russia, a low-cost way of being loudly patriotic without actually doing anything serious.

Only Poland, the Baltic states and American neocons really hunger for war – provided it is waged by the US.  US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, a rising star among the pro-war neocons, is pushing the confrontation with Russia – yet another bureaucrat with no military experience.

Military men quickly understand the logistic and climactic problems of fighting in the Black Sea region, but not Washington’s desk warriors and their European satraps.  The US has been unwise to provoke a confrontation with Russia in its backyard.  Though Russia has lost much of its Soviet-era military power, it would be a mistake to underestimate its combat capabilities and overestimate those of NATO.

Remember, Napoleon (who was seriously defeated in Russia) prayed ‘oh Lord, if I must go to war, please make it against a coalition.’

Washington’s sofa samurais are playing with fire.

Is Washington Under Alien Control?, by Philip Giraldi – The Unz Review

Posted by M. C. on January 26, 2022

Biden and Blinken get everything backwards in terms of US interests

https://www.unz.com/pgiraldi/is-washington-under-alien-control/#comments

Philip Giraldi

The drama currently unfolding in which the Biden Administration is doing everything it can to provoke a war with Russia over Ukraine is possibly the most frightening foreign policy misadventure since the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis and the 1967 Lyndon Johnson attempt to sink the USS Liberty and blame it on Egypt, either of which could have gone nuclear. I can well recall the Robert Heinlein sci-fi book The Puppet Masters, later made into a movie, which described how alien-slugs, arriving by way of a flying saucer landing in Iowa, invaded the earth and parasitically attached themselves to the central nervous systems of humans and became able to completely control their minds. What the humans know, they know. What the slugs want, no matter what, the human will do. And the tale gets really scary in geopolitical terms when some Secret Service Agents are “occupied” by the invaders and they are thereby poised to capture the President of the United States. I would point out that the movie came out when Bill Clinton was president, which should have provoked some concerns about whether it was fact or fiction.

Well, does anyone currently wonder why I think of The Puppet Masters when an incoherent Joe Biden in particular makes a speech? And also consider the befuddled look of Secretary of State Tony Blinken or the bewildered expressions of Vice President Kamala Harris or Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley, all of which might also suggest that the slugs now completely control the Administration. The Biden and Blinken possibly slug-controlled automatons are now stating their conviction, based on no evidence whatsoever, that Russia is about to invade Ukraine and they are threatening sanctions like Putin “has never seen before.” There will no doubt be more slug-derived pronouncements to reinforce that warning in the next few days after the latest round of talks breaks down. Evacuation of US Embassy staff families in Kiev is already underway, deliberately escalating rather than attempting to defuse the crisis which could lead to nuclear war, destroying the human race and replacing it with the alien slugs.

For God’s Sake Boys, Stop This War S**t!!! – Antiwar.com Original

Posted by M. C. on January 26, 2022

The US military is stretched to the point that the possibility, if not probability, of an incident/accident occurring that can set off a chain of events that will be disastrous for the world is explosively high.

https://original.antiwar.com/?p=2012344971

by Col. Ann Wright (ret.)

We’ve seen this before. The U.S. creates a situation, digs in its heels and makes ultimatums—and tens of thousands die.

I resigned from the US government in 2003 in opposition to another war-President Bush’s war on Iraq in which followed that war playbook.

We’ve seen it in Afghanistan and Iraq and now it may be over Ukraine or Taiwan, and oh yes, let’s not forget multiple missile tests from North Korea, ISIS fighters rioting and escaping from prisons in Syria, the millions in Afghanistan who are starving and freezing after the US chaotic withdrawal and refusal to unlock Afghanistan’s frozen financial assets.

Add to these dangers, the emotional and physical damage done to the US military’s own military forces by the poisoning of the drinking water of 93,000 persons, mostly the families of US Navy and Air Force personnel in the Indo-Pacific command in Hawaii, from an 80-year-old leaking jet fuel tanks that have leaked into drinking water wells that, despite warnings over a 20 year period, the US Navy has refused to shut down, and you have a military that is stretched to a dangerous point.

From the US military policy makers in Washington, to the boots on the ground in Europe and the Middle East and those in ships and aircraft in the Pacific, the US military is at a breaking point.

Instead of slowing down and backing off, the Biden administration led by a very aggressive Secretary of State Antony Blinken and a go-along Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and President Biden seems to have given a dangerous green light to escalation on all fronts at the same time.

While US war mongering has hit a speed button on steroids, both Russia and China are calling the diplomatic and military hands of the United States at the same time.

President Putin deployed 125,000 to the border of Ukraine bringing to a head the Russian Federation’s demand that the US and NATO finally after 30 years of poaching former Warsaw Pact countries into NATO despite the promise of President H.W. Bush that the US would not, that the US and NATO formally declare that NATO would not recruit Ukraine into its military forces.

On the other side of the world, in Asia- Pacific region, President Xi of China is responding to the US”Pivot to Asia” that has thrown out the 50-year US policy of diplomatic recognition of the People’s Republic of China and yet continuing, but not publicizing, economic and military support of Taiwan. The “One-China” policy was begun decades ago in the 1970s under the Nixon administration.

The US”Pivot to Asia” began after withdrawal of US forces from Iraq and a drawdown of US military from Afghanistan, when the Obama administration needed another military confrontation for the appetite of the US military offense (not defense) corporations.

The innocuous sounding “Freedom of Navigation” naval missions to stake out US domination of the South China Sea have morphed into a NATO naval mission with ships from the United Kingdom and France joining the US armada in China’s seaside front yard.

US diplomatic missions to Taiwan that had not happened in 50 years began under the Trump administration and now have the highest-ranking US government officials in five decades making highly publicized trips to Taiwan as a stick to poke in the eye of the Chinese government.

The Chinese government has responded to the US actions in the South China Sea by constructing a series of military installations on small atolls in a line of defense and sending its own naval vessels into its own coastal waters. China addressed increased US military equipment sales to Taiwan and the US publicity of its deployment of US military training personnel to Taiwan by sending fleets of up to 40 military aircraft at a time the short 20 miles across the Straits of Taiwan from the mainland of China to the edge of the Taiwan air defense zone forcing the Taiwanese Air Force to activate its air defense system.

Back to the other side of the world, after orchestrating and supporting a coup in Ukraine in 2013 (remember Victoria Nuland, now State Department’s Under Secretary for Policy, who 7 years ago as an Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs) identified the US sponsored Ukrainian coup leader “Yats is our man.” The US sponsored coup in Ukraine precipitated the vote of the residents of Crimea that invited the Russian Federation to annex Crimea.

Despite US media reports to the contrary, there was no Russian military invasion of Crimea following the coup in Ukraine and before the people’s vote in Crimea. Not a shot was fired in the lead-up to the vote in Crimea. A Russian military was already in Crimea under the 60-year agreement between the Soviet Union/then Russian Federation that provided for the stationing of Russian military in Crimea as a part of its Black Sea Fleet. The Fleet’s only access to the Mediterranean is through the Black Sea ports of Sevastopol and Yalta.

68 years ago in 1954, Soviet Premier and ethnic Ukrainian Nikita Khrushchev transferred control of Crimea to the Ukraine, on the 300th anniversary of Russian-Ukrainian unification.

United States to Give Extra $200 Million in Military Aid to Ukraine | The Libertarian Institute

Posted by M. C. on January 24, 2022

But “they” are the aggressor. Stinger missiles, can’t you shoot an airliner down with those?

https://libertarianinstitute.org/articles/united-states-to-give-extra-200-million-in-military-aid-to-ukraine/

by Dave DeCamp

The U.S. is giving Ukraine an additional $200 million in military aid that was approved by the Biden administration in December, a senior State Department official confirmed with reporters on Wednesday. The additional military aid was announced while Secretary of State Antony Blinken was in Kyiv.

The official didn’t detail what military equipment would make up the new aid package. Since 2014, the U.S. has provided Ukraine with over $2.5 billion in military aid. Under the Trump administration, the U.S. started giving Ukraine lethal weapons, including Javelin anti-tank missiles and armed patrol boats.

Earlier reports said the Biden administration was considering giving Ukraine more stinger missiles, mortars, and more Javelin missiles. Another plan under consideration is giving Ukraine military aid that was meant for the now-defunct U.S.-backed Afghan government that would include Russian-made Mi-17 helicopters.

With the constant U.S. claims of a Russian invasion, Washington is eager to give Ukraine weapons. On top of the $200 million, the 2022 National Defense Authorization Act authorizes another $300 million for military aid to Ukraine. A group of Senate Democrats recently introduced a bill that would authorize an additional $500 million for Ukraine if the president determines Russia is being hostile towards its neighbor.

By the Numbers, a Failing President – LewRockwell LewRockwell.com

Posted by M. C. on January 21, 2022

As for the coronavirus, the Biden administration neither anticipated nor prepared for the delta and omicron variants. And no one knows where we will be next November — hopefully, in a better place.

And how Biden handles the Ukraine crisis ginned up by Russian President Vladimir Putin may come to be seen as a reflection of his mastery of foreign policy, or his ineptitude.

Ukraine could be determinant in history’s judgment of Biden’s presidency.

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2022/01/patrick-j-buchanan/by-the-numbers-a-failing-president/

By Patrick J. Buchanan

If the left believed that draping the Capitol riot of Jan. 6, 2021, around the neck of former President Donald Trump and the party that refused to repudiate him would sink the GOP, it appears to have miscalculated.

For, as the left painted the Capitol riot as an “armed insurrection,” “domestic terrorism,” “attempted coup,” and political atrocity that stands beside Pearl Harbor and 9/11 as “a day that will live in infamy,” Republicans were displacing the Democrats as America’s first party.

Democrats began 2021 as the preferred party of 49% of the country. Only 40% identified as Republicans.

When 2022 began, the standings had been reversed.

Forty-two percent of Americans identified as Democrats, and 47% as Republicans, a turnaround of 14 points.

While President Joe Biden began 2021 with an approval rating in the mid-50s, he ended the year with an approval rating in the low 40s. One national poll showed Biden’s approval rating sinking to 33%.

On Wednesday, a Politico/Morning Consult survey came out that showed that 37% of Americans awarded Biden a grade of “F” for his first year, with another 12% giving him a “D.” School kids with grades like that risk being held back a year or expelled.

On his handling of the issues of immigration and restoring national unity, 40% of Americans flunked Biden. On the economy, 38% gave him an “F.”

Also, in that Politico survey, 68% of respondents said America is on the “wrong track,” more than twice the number who believe she is heading in the “right direction.”

In this same survey, Biden’s overall approval stands at 40%.

What is the message that the totality of these numbers conveys?
