Profits Are for People by Walter E. Williams

Just as Francisco d’Anconia provided his justification for profit Walter Williams provides a wonderful analysis illustrating why-
we need companies to profit
and why the Occupy Wallstreeters are siding with the people causing the problems.

I agree, we need companies to profit, but what we have been seeing is a greed unsurpassed…there are CEOs running companies into the ground while raking in obscene amounts of money to do so. Do offices really need to be refurbished in expensive decor? Do signs really have to be replaced because someone prefers red over blue? Are things being done to ensure those who work hard all thier lives that the insurance/ retirement packages they were promised will be there when they need them? Will hardworking people still have a job? The top layer doesn’t really care, they’ve got theirs, and very few ever give back.
That seems to be the problem, the growing divide between the haves and the have nots.
There is no return to the consumers. We get taken at every turn. If it was just a little bit, i doubt anyone would mind, we know corporations need to make a profit… But when it becomes this extreme, people resent the greedy, and start to vote with the few dollars left for them to spend. We have tightened our belts as far as we can! It is time for Corporations and Governments to realise that their wastefulness and greed are being noticed, and it is time for them to become more compassionate toward social issues, and less attatched to those Golden Parachutes they all have!
