Q: What Is The Difference Between RiffTrax And Psychological Torture In A North Korean Prison Camp A: Nothing

DANGER! DANGER!
The material we discuss is often not cheerful. This gets tiresome. This posting is unfortunately along those lines. We were invited to view a film not knowing the format. Being the Whovians that we are, we were expecting to see the 1983 20th anniversary BBC Doctor Who special The Five Doctors as a normal theater experience. Enter RiffTrax.
The RiffTrax schtick is one where the film is broadcast nationally from a theater with a live audience to a theater near you. Supposed comedians provide commentary voiced over the film dialogue.
The so-called comedic commentary was infantile. A horrible experience. There was a fart joke that lasted so long one of the other comedians had to say ‘that’s enough!’. Any attempt to appreciate the actual film is repeatedly crushed.
Remember the time you were in a theater and there was the moron sitting right behind you loudly guffawing and repeating every unfunny comment. Multiply that times 3 for two hours straight.
If you thought Dumb and Dumber was an Academy Award worthy film, this is your kind of stuff. Otherwise, avoid like the plague.
Be seeing you
I am not a number. I am a free man!

you have no clue, do you? Five Doctors is almost 35 years old. If you haven’t seen it yet, you really didn’t care to watch it.

I am not getting your last sentence at all.

You’re wearing a monocle, aren’t you?

“Any attempt to appreciate the actual film is repeatedly crushed.” – You obviously don’t understand what Rifftrax is. Did your theater not list the event as a Rifftrax Live event?

Read the post. Fourth sentence. The advertised description did not include ‘infantile grade school humor’.

If he saw that it was a Rifftrax event and he didn’t know what Rifftrax was, he should have done a little research first.

Angry grognard doesn’t spend five seconds to check out the actual event he’s attending, comes home to spew his hilarious misunderstanding on the internet and get steamed when people point out it’s his fault, laughter ensues

That does not surprise me.
