If You Have Problems Trusting, You Will Have Problems Living A Life Of Freedom

Posted by M. C. on April 13, 2022

By Allan Stevo

As the regime around us falls apart, Americans (and all people) will increasingly look for more trustworthy leaders to turn to for answers.

That is where you come in. My job here is to rouse lions. Your job is to be that lion. Your job is to be that person who walks through the day unable to do anything but be his free self.

In all likelihood, it is the most natural thing you have ever done. It has probably been what you have always done.

It is probably the easiest job anyone has asked you to do — to live life as freely as you can each and every day.

As simple as it sounds, that level of authenticity from a lion, like you, is exactly what is needed to get us out of this mess.

You may not be able to change the world overnight, but through your own free, lion-like behavior, you can deeply impact your life, your home, and the community around you. That is to say that you can change the world as you know it.

Three Groups

I have written before about three groups of people who tend to form at times like these and who exist through all periods of time.

I speak of a lion as opposed to a more hyena-like person or a more sheep-like person. All three exist in all periods of time. It is the lion that determines the trajectory of history based on whether he is awake or asleep.

How A Hyena Behaves

The hyenas spend their days looking for who to take advantage of. Hyenas are plentiful in our era and are constantly presented in the media as people you are assured you can trust. When allowed to run a society, they do the most untrustworthy things. This takes place when the lions choose to sleep rather than when lions roam their territory. The mere presence of awake lions makes the hyena’s control of society impossible.

How Sheep Behave

The more sheep-like folks are the biggest mass of people in a society. They are generally looking for who to follow. Sheep spend a great deal of time is spent examining who is trustworthy. From one moment to the next, they are skittishly looking about for the best leader.

Notably, this may leave a sheep-like person following one group of people one minute and a totally different group the next minute. This is not necessarily a contradiction, since the values involved are not as important to most sheep-like people as that sense of security, even around following a seemingly trustworthy person.

How A Lion Behaves

The lions, notably, are not specifically trying to get anyone to trust them. That is something the hyenas and sheep are busy concerning themselves with. The lions are just trying to live more free lives. This brings about a notable conflict.

The hyenas are trying to look for people to devour or control. They, accordingly, specialize in looking trustworthy to others in order to get their way. The sheep are looking for people to trust. They are, accordingly, gullible because they often seek shortcuts to quickly find comfort in trusting a leader, even though such a leader is as untrustworthy as they come. The need to always be following a leader undermines the sheep-like pursuit of safety.

It brings the hyenas great happiness that the lions do not care more about being good leaders. It brings the sheep great frustration that the lions do not care more about being good leaders. In fact, such needs as “Who is trustworthy to follow?” tends to mean so little to a lion that he does not even want to play such a game. He happily leaves it for the sheep and hyenas to play with each other.

The lion is focused on being asleep at the job (where many lions today are), in which case he is focused on living his own free life off by himself, or a lion is focused on being on the prowl, roving his territory, in which case he too is living his own free life. By being awake and living his own free life, a lion spreads freedom better than anyone else in a society can.

In fact, the sheep can only ever experience freedom when following a lion, and a hyena can only ever experience freedom when at the mercy of a lion. Again, neither of those details tend to concern a lion. He is out there doing his own free thing.

Focusing On Trust, Prevents You From Achieving Freedom

All this is to illustrate a detail that tends to be true in life. If trust is a concept you are stuck on, then freedom is probably not an attribute you can fully embrace. The lion has moved beyond such a worry or perhaps never had it.

Asking “How do I get others to trust me?” or “Who do I trust?” misses the nature of freedom. Freedom is grounded enough to be able to not fear the consequences of not being able to trust your fellow man. The free man will be fine whether or not he succeeds in developing that trust in others. The trust is not primary, but secondary. Freedom is also grounded enough to be able to not fear the consequences of being unable to be trusted by your fellow man. The free man will be fine whether or not others trust him. Being trusted by others is not primary, but secondary. Only in the midst of having little concern for trust is freedom obtainable.

Firm Foundations

This is not to promote the lion as a loner. Far from that. In the midst of that behavior — in which one is neither needy for trust nor needy to be trusted — very solid relationships can be built on the firmest of footing.

There are plenty of foundations that lions build upon. I have proverbially built many little towers in life upon all manner of foundations. Time and again, I find that most important to me is grounding myself upon God. That is the most stable foundation I have ever known. It is so stable that the contrast between trust and freedom is apparent. If trust is a primary concern, freedom is virtually inaccessible.

Faith Or Fear?

For a hyena or sheep, faith that freedom will come becomes unobtainable because one is busily occupied on the topic of who to trust or who to get them to trust them.

For a sheep-like person, trust is a pathway to security and other life affirming characteristics. Sheep desire to trust as quickly as they can. This can be seen in the prevalence of sexual promiscuity. It can be seen in the adoration of the most undeserving political and cultural figures. It is trust for the sake of trust. The harm one does to oneself by being so needy to trust is vast.

For a hyena-like person, being trustworthy is something to virtue signal in order to have influence. The extent of virtue signaling in this era is, of course, important — in the absence of true leadership and in the absence of actual virtue, mere signaling is all people really need in order to convince most people, in the short term that they are the real deal. Again sexual promiscuity is notable as well as adoration of figures who do not deserve it. Practices such as neurolinguistic programming or pick up artistry become welcome shortcuts.

A Trade-Off Between Sheep & Hyenas

Sheep seek to trust as quickly as they can. Hyenas seek to be trusted as quickly as they can. There is often, then, a societal trade when the lions are asleep.

Left to their own devices, the hyenas look for people to take advantage of and the sheep look for people with trustworthy qualities. The hyenas will happily feign trustworthiness if it means they can take advantage of another. A sheep will happily let another take advantage of him if it means he can get comfortable in an environment in which all the right amount of virtue-signaling around trust and security is provided.

A Limit To The Sheep & Hyena Society

This cozy relationship all makes so much sense until you factor in 2 things:

1.) Hyenas, unable to truly deliver on what is fundamentally needed, fail and create crisis;

2.) Lions exist.

The Hyenas Fail

First, the failure of hyenas.

Eventually, the hyenas run out of room to take advantage of sheep and push things too far, proving themselves so very untrustworthy in the eyes of all watching. Crisis occurs as hyena leaders, each one more untrustworthy than the one prior jockey for influence. Leaders can be at a societal level, a local level, or a personal level. The fundamentals of that undeserved trust are similar. They have nothing of substance to provide and society increasingly finds itself in a mess. Crisis will rouse a lion from sleep.

The Lions Roar

Second, the existence of a lion.

You might be able to imagine that if sheep and hyena are seemingly comfortable together, the presence of a lion on the prowl is quite disruptive.

In the long term, the truth is, only a lion can ever provide the leadership a society needs — only a lion can live free and create the structure that allows both freedom and security to others.

It is exactly what the mass of people (the sheep) want, yet the lion refuses to placate them with phony shows of leadership. To even behave such a way welcomes the hyena spirit in. It shortchanges the natural potential growth that happens when a lion seeks to placate and destabilizes the future potential of the relationship. A lion is more likely to say, “If you need phony shows of leadership to see why I am better than a hyena, then I want nothing to do with you.”

What Does That Mean In Our Current Context?

To read this in the context of our current climate: A lion will say “If you need phony shows of leadership to see why I am better than a Tony Fauci, Bill Gates, or Klaus Schwab, then I want nothing to do with you.”

That Does Not Satisfy The Sheep’s Neediness

This does not work for a sheep in the short term. The sheep needs reassurances. The hyena will happily provide those reassurances. This is despite the fact that the hyena 1.) Lacks a backbone, 2.) Lacks a moral compass, 3.) Has no obedience to values, 4.) Cannot lead in all but the most shallow, stilted, carefully-studied, book knowledge, MBA-class-obtained, slithery definitions of the concept, 5.) Will say anything that needs to be said to survive, 6.) Will say anything that needs to be said to take advantage of every scenario for his own benefit, and 7.) Quite literally seeks to devour the very people who are foolish enough to trust him to lead.

So, other than the fact that the hyena is the very last person anyone should follow, the hyena is a really great leader. Sheep end up following the hyena and end up getting all their short term needs for security met. There is a lot of undeserved confidence in that equation.

Why The Lion Is Seen As A Threat

The lion living his own free life is clearly a threat to the hyena and can easily be seen as a problem to the sheep. He is different. He stands out. He is being free. He refuses to follow the rules that everyone else obediently follows. He knows the hyena has no authority over him.

The great mass of people can easily be convinced that the lion is the enemy in the short term, when in fact, the lion is the only long term leader that ever makes sense to follow. The roaming lion can easily be made into an enemy by sheep and hyena alike. The sleeping lion, as well, can be seen as a threat.

The sheep often know no better. Those who do want to put short term impressions security before all else, often carry a knee-jerk belief that freedom is the enemy of security, rather than seeing the truth that freedom is the enabler of all manner of good things that allow security to be possible.

The hyena sees this clearly and knows that empty words and superficial attempts at security are the best a hyena can provide, so the hyena is naturally quite threatened by the lion. The sheep see a lion as a kill-joy in the short term. His very presence shakes up the comfort of the status quo.

The presence of the lion leaves the uneasy feeling that something is wrong, and the undiscerning sheep, having no idea what that could be pays no heed to the hyena preying on the herd, but insists the existence of the roaming lion with his toxic, outmoded, and patriarchal notions such as standards, values, or conscience could be the only possible explanation of what is wrong.

Ultimately, The Lion Does Not Care What The Other Two Think

The lion, on the other hand, does not really care what either of these two think as long as they stay out of his way.

Dear Lion, if you can live your life as freely as possible, grounded on good foundation, ignoring the evil cackles of the hyenas and the frightened bleating of the sheep. If you can stay focussed on how you can live the most free life possible, you will ripple out freedom around you as you win this day.

If It Feels Like You’re Being Manipulated, It’s Because You Are

Posted by M. C. on April 13, 2022

Caitlin Johnstone

If you’ve got a gut feeling that your rulers are working to control your perception of the war in Ukraine, it is safe to trust that feeling.

If you feel like there’s been a concerted effort from the most powerful government and media institutions in the western world to manipulate your understanding of what’s going on with this war, it’s because that’s exactly what has been happening.

If you can’t recall ever seeing such intense mass media spin about a war before, it’s because you haven’t.

If you get the distinct impression that this may be the most aggressively perception-managed and psyop-intensive war in human history, it’s because it is.

If it looks like Silicon Valley platforms are controlling the content that people see to give them a perspective on this war that is wildly biased in favor of the US narrative, it’s because that is indeed the case.

If it seems like a suspicious coincidence that Russiagate manufactured mainstream consent for all the same shady agendas we’re seeing ramped up now like cold war brinkmanship against Moscow, internet censorship, and being constantly lied to by the mass media for the greater good, it’s because it is a mighty suspicious coincidence.

If it seems weird to you that so many self-styled leftists are responding to this war by fanatically supporting the extremely dangerous unipolarist geostrategic agendas of the most powerful empire that has ever existed, that’s because it is weird. Really, really, really weird.

If it seems a bit hypocritical to you that the empire is blasting us in the face all day with narratives alleging Russian war crimes while that same empire is imprisoning a journalist for exposing its war crimes, that’s because it absolutely is hypocritical.

If something looks wrong about the fact that we’re about to watch a judge sign off on Julian Assange’s extradition to the United States for practicing journalism while that same United States keeps pushing out narratives about the need to protect Ukraine’s freedom and democracy, that’s because it should.

If you’re beginning to get the nagging sense that the mainstream consensus worldview is a construct manufactured by the powerful, for the powerful and everything you were taught about your nation, your government and your world is a lie, that’s definitely a possibility worth considering.

If it’s starting to seem like we’re all being manipulated at mass scale to think, act and vote in a way which benefits a vast power structure that rules over us while hiding its true nature, I’d say that’s a thread worth pulling.

If you’ve a sneaking suspicion that the lies might go even deeper than that, right down to deceptions about who you fundamentally are and what this life is actually about, that suspicion is probably worth exploring.

If you’re feeling a bit like Keanu Reeves in the beginning of The Matrix right before the veil gets ripped away, I’d recommend following the white bunny and seeing how deep that rabbit hole goes.

If it has occurred to you that humanity needs to wake up from the matrix of illusion before our sociopathic rulers drive us to extinction via environmental catastrophe or nuclear armageddon, then your notes match my own.

If you believe it’s possible that these existential crises we’re fast approaching may be the catalyst we need to collectively rip the blindfold from our eyes and begin moving in a truth-based way upon this earth and creating a healthy world, then we are on the same page.

If there’s something in you that whispers there’s a good chance we make it despite the long odds we appear to be facing, I will tell you a secret: I hear it too.

CIA Admits Feeding Americans False Info About Ukraine

Posted by M. C. on April 12, 2022

It’s time to revisit President Kennedy’s post-Bay of Pigs wish. The CIA using lies to propagandize the American people toward war with Russia is just one of thousands of reasons to scatter a million pieces of that agency to the wind.

https://mailchi.mp/ronpaulinstitute/ciaukraine-116005?e=4e0de347c8

Apr 11 – Late last year, a Gallup poll showed that Americans’ trust in the mainstream media has fallen to its second lowest level on record. Only seven percent of Americans responded that they have a “great deal” of trust in the media.

That loss of trust has been well-earned by the mainstream media, and it explains the massive growth of independent media and alternative voices on social media. The response to the rise of independent media voices has been a rush to “cancel” any voice outside the accepted mainstream narrative.

Citizens of the Soviet Union would read manipulated media like Pravda not because the regime reported facts, but because truth was hidden between the lines of what was reported and what was not reported. That seems to be where we are in the US today.

Last week an extraordinary article appeared in, of all places, NBC News, reporting that the US intelligence community is knowingly feeding information it does not believe accurate to the US mainstream media for the American audience to consume.

In other words, the article reports that the US “deep state” admits to being actively engaged in lying to the American people in the hopes that it can manipulate public opinion

According to the NBC News article, “multiple US officials acknowledged that the US has used information as a weapon even when confidence in the accuracy of the information wasn’t high. Sometimes it has used low-confidence intelligence for deterrent effect…”

Readers will recall the shocking headlines that Russia was prepared to use chemical weapons in Ukraine, that China would be providing military equipment to Russia, that Russian President Putin was being fed misinformation by his advisors, and more.

All of these were churned out by the CIA to be repeated in the American media even though they were known to be false. It was all about, as one intelligence officer said in the article, “trying to get inside Putin’s head.”

That may have been the goal, but what the CIA actually did was get inside America’s head with false information meant to shape public perception of the conflict. They lied to propagandize us in favor of the Biden Administration’s narrative.

Those pushing the “Russiagate” hoax through the Trump years claimed that the goal of “Russian disinformation” was to undermine Americans’ trust in our government, media, and other institutions. Isn’t it ironic that the CIA itself has done more than the Russians to undermine Americans’ faith in the media by feeding false stories to establish a particular narrative among the American people?

After the Bay of Pigs disaster, President Kennedy has been quoted as wanting “to splinter the CIA in a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds.” That didn’t work out too well for him. As Senate Majority Chuck Schumer famously told Rachel Maddow in 2020, responding to the-President Trump’s criticism of the CIA, “let me tell you: You take on the intelligence community — they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you.”

As more information about the activities of the US Intelligence Community in trying to bring down Trump come out, it appears that, for once, Schumer was right.

It’s time to revisit President Kennedy’s post-Bay of Pigs wish. The CIA using lies to propagandize the American people toward war with Russia is just one of thousands of reasons to scatter a million pieces of that agency to the wind.

Germ Warfare

Posted by M. C. on April 12, 2022

The return of the neocons back to their ideological home on the Left has left a void in what is left of conservatism. For two generations they were a golem for neoconservatism, despite their pretensions. Without their animators, they have been left to stagger around without purpose.

https://thezman.com

One of the most underdiscussed parts of the current crisis is the war being waged against the infectious disease known as neoconservatism. It started in 2015 when Trump launched his bid for president. Even though he was never able to articulate it, he was running as a rejection of Bush and by extension the neocons. It was his win in the South Carolina primary, after he had unloaded on George Bush, which sent the neocons into a panic and started the Republican civil war.

It has been an interesting civil war in that it was mostly the party against Trump but it has turned into an old versus new since he left office. He had some allies in the party, for sure, but most were too afraid to be open about it. Some, like Lindsey Graham, pretended to be his ally so they could hell subvert his presidency, especially on the foreign policy front. Graham was sent in from the usual suspects to keep Trump in line on those issues.

Even so, there has been a slow realignment going in within the party as well as within what is left of the conservative movement. On the later front, the neocons have completely shed their skin and joined the Left. Bill Kristol runs something called the Bulwark, which no one reads. His other efforts are aimed at undermining his former party through the Republican Accountability Project. They used to be Republicans Against Trump, but that was too obvious.

Jonah Goldberg and Steve Hayes were both fired from Fox News for a lack of interest by the viewers. Hayes ran The Weekly Standard into the ground and now he runs something called the Dispatch. His partner in that is Jonah Goldberg, who was also jettisoned from National Review. Of course, they brought on the soy-faced wojack David French, who has stop pretending to be a Christian and instead has embraced the religion of post-Marx identity politics.

BRICS Ministers of Finance Hold a Meeting – It Is Time to Replace Western Financial Trade Mechanisms and Remove The Dollar

Posted by M. C. on April 12, 2022

The objective of the BRICS group is simply to present an alternative trade mechanism that permits them to conduct business regardless of the opinion of the multinational corporations in the ‘western alliance.’

Sundance

This is not some grand conspiracy, ‘out there‘ deep geopolitical possibility, or foreboding likelihood as an outcome of short-sighted western emotion.  No, this is just a predictable outcome from western created events that pushed specific countries to a natural conclusion based on their best interests.

You can debate the motives of the western leaders who structured the sanctions against Russia, and whether they knew the outcome would happen as a consequence of their effort, but the outcome was never really in doubt.  Personally, I believe this outcome is what the west intended. The people inside the World Economic Forum are not stupid – ideological, yes, but not stupid. They knew this would happen.

[Left to Right] Xi Jinping (China), Vladimir Putin (Russia), Jair Bolsonaro (Brazil), Narendra Modi (India) and Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), the BRICS group.

The finance ministers of the BRICS alliance (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) have decided to create their own financial mechanisms to continue trade between nations of similar disposition.  Once the internal issues inside the BRICS alliance are resolved, and once the mechanisms are created, then other nations will be able to decide to join or not.  The great global cleaving will commence.

(Reuters) – Russia, hit by Western sanctions, has called on the BRICS group of emerging economies to extend the use of national currencies and integrate payment systems, the finance ministry said on Saturday.

[…] On Friday, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov told a ministerial meeting with BRICS, which consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, that the global economic situation had worsened substantially due to the sanctions, the ministry’s statement said.

The new sanctions also destroy the foundation of the existing international monetary and financial system based on the U.S. dollar, Siluanov said.

“This pushes us to the need to speed up work in the following areas: the use of national currencies for export-import operations, the integration of payment systems and cards, our own financial messaging system and the creation of an independent BRICS rating agency,” Siluanov said.

International payment cards Visa and MasterCard suspended operations in Russia in early March and Russia’s biggest banks have lost access to the SWIFT global banking messaging system.

Russia set up its own banking messaging system, known as SPFS, as an alternative to SWIFT. Its own card payment system MIR began operating in 2015.

[…] They were part of Moscow’s efforts to develop homegrown financial tools to mirror Western ones, to protect the country in case penalties against Moscow were broadened.

The finance ministry said BRICS ministers have confirmed the importance of cooperation in efforts to stabilise the current economic situation.

“The current crisis is man-made, and the BRICS countries have all necessary tools to mitigate its consequences for their economies and the global economy as a whole,” Siluanov said. (link)

For a deep dive on BRICS, as predicted by CTH, {SEE HERE}.  The bottom line is – the 2022 punitive economic and financial sanctions by the western nations’ alliance against Russia was exactly the reason why BRICS assembled in the first place.

The multinational corporate control of government is exactly what the BRICS assembly foresaw when they first assembled during the Obama administration.  When multinational corporations run the policy of western government, there is going to be a problem.

In the bigger picture, the BRICS assembly are essentially leaders who do not want corporations and multinational banks running their government. BRICS leaders want their government running their government; and yes, that means whatever form of government that exists in their nation, even if it is communist.

BRICS leaders are aligned as anti-corporatist.  That doesn’t necessarily make those government leaders better stewards, it simply means they want to make the decisions, and they do not want corporations to become more powerful than they are.  As a result, if you really boil it down to the common denominator, what you find is the BRICS group are the opposing element to the World Economic Forum assembly.

The countries run by multinational corporations are in Yellow, the countries who have not yet chosen a side are in GREY:

The BRICS team intend to create an alternative option for all the other nations. An alternative to the current western trade and financial platforms operated on the use of the dollar as a currency.  Perhaps many nations will use both financial mechanisms depending on their need.

The objective of the BRICS group is simply to present an alternative trade mechanism that permits them to conduct business regardless of the opinion of the multinational corporations in the ‘western alliance.’

Lew Rockwell Was Right About China

Posted by M. C. on April 12, 2022

So yes, Lew Rockwell is right: China is fixed firmly in the crosshairs of the U.S. empire. The above “extreme competition” policies substantiate that view.

https://libertarianinstitute.org/articles/lew-rockwell-was-right-about-china/

by Patrick Macfarlane

Over the last year, I have focused much of my work on opposing the New Cold War with Russia and China—particularly with China.

In a recent piece, “‘No One is Calling for War with China,’” I tackled a claim that I’ve been hearing recently. I understand the argument to go like this: “advocating tougher China policy is not advocating war against China.”

In a very literal sense, this argument is correct. Those who advocate tougher China policy are not literally suggesting war with China. But even real dyed-in-the-wool China hawks aren’t demanding war. So, if not literally calling for war is the metric, then, yes, almost no one is calling for war with China.

This argument, of course, ignores the larger context of the times in which we live. That context warrants appreciation.

In March 2020, Lew Rockwell appreciated that context—even during peak COVID-hysteria. In a piece entitled “War on China?” he valiantly warned against the anti-China paranoia that rode the crest of the COVID-19 tidal wave:

People are understandably upset about the coronavirus epidemic, but if we’re not careful, an even greater danger lies ahead. Sinister forces in American political life are using the crisis to incite war with China and to stir up bad feelings towards the Chinese people. The Chinese people are in fact heroic. They are our friends, not our enemies. But the forces of evil want you to think otherwise.

Indeed, even those among us who are most concerned by a rising China do not see the Chinese people as the enemy. That said, Rockwell highlights the important context: the specter of war and American efforts to incite it:

The President’s talk about the “Chinese virus” fans the flame of ill-feelings, and some fear that the government may provoke a war with China in order to distract attention from a tanking U.S. economy. U.S. government propaganda has spread false claims about predatory Chinese trade practices to get the American people ready for hostile action toward China. As David Stockman has observed, “Indeed, the entire intellectual property theft meme is just a scam under which the business lobbies have enlisted the FBI and other law enforcement branches to function as taxpayer-financed patent attorneys and litigants.”

As we bear witness to escalating confrontation with China (especially an economic decoupling) we must appreciate this larger context. My Libertarian Institute colleague Connor Freeman provided that context in a piece written last summer:

America’s new Cold War with China is a bi-partisan imperial project. In 2011, former President Barack Obama began it in earnest, dubbing it the “Asia Pivot.” The ‘pivot’ entails surrounding China with hundreds of bases and shifting two thirds of all U.S. naval and air forces to the Asia-Pacific, the greatest military buildup since World War II.

Putative outsider Donald Trump took office and sizably enlarged the U.S. military’s footprint in what is now referred to as the “Indo-Pacific” region and significantly increased provocations of China.

Now President Joe Biden and his hawk infested administration are escalating tensions with Beijing to heights previously unseen.

Biden has said bluntly that the U.S. is in “extreme competition” with China. In his first address to Congress, Biden said we are competing with China to “win the 21st century.” Space Force has plans for the moon to be a “militarized front.” They see it as a venue for a future war. Washington is spending more on the military and so called “defense” than at any time in the nation’s history. The Republican Party’s neocons say that even Biden’s 2022 national security budget request for more than $750 billion is not enough to counter China and are demanding that number be increased by tens of billions.

Since the Ukraine crisis, U.S. tensions with China have only escalated. In late March 2022, the Pentagon released its first National Defense Strategy (NDS) since General James Mattis declared “Great Power Competition” with Russia and China in 2018. The 2022 NDS sees China upgraded to Washington’s number one threat.

The West’s economic blacklisting of Russia has further exacerbated tensions between Washington and China. It has caused the predictable result of driving Russia and China together.

If some advocates of liberty believe that the US should be tougher on China—in any sense—that is their prerogative. But they must appreciate what tough China policy has looked like in the above context of “extreme competition.” Substantively, the last few years have seen the U.S.:

So yes, Lew Rockwell is right: China is fixed firmly in the crosshairs of the U.S. empire. The above “extreme competition” policies substantiate that view.

As fellow lovers of liberty whose antiwar convictions are rooted in hatred for the state, we must loudly condemn the above policies—especially those of us who’d like to see otherwise tougher China policy—lest we slam the bolt home and prime the trigger.

Naming Names

Posted by M. C. on April 12, 2022

How did it happen that the 6’4” Thomas, oddly still in possession of normal male genitalia, got permission to compete against, shall we say, natural-born women?

You can ask Mark Emmert, the NCAA president, or Wendell E. Pritchett, president of the University of Pennsylvania, or Alanna W. Shanahan, Penn director of athletics, or Lauren C. Procopio, assistant director for men’s/women’s Swimming.

You see, there are real people behind all these disorders of our national life.

One reason American movies are so bad these days is they have forgotten how to tell a story. Stuff just happens to characters. Cause, effect and consequence no longer exist in the workshops of Hollywood.

And one might sense that these imperatives are likewise missing from what used to be known as real life in the USA, with all its stories and narrativesStuff just happens to the people in this country now. And then sometimes, stuff un-happens.

With the Russian operation in Ukraine alarming the populace, you might have forgotten the late COVID-19 epidemic that provoked so much public hysteria and government policy overreach.

Stuff happened during those two-plus years of COVID-19, and even with Ukraine blaring from the cable news channels, COVID-19 stuff is still happening. Vaccine mandates are still in force, in New York City, for instance — except for performers and ballplayers, who are exempted now, as announced this week by Mayor Eric Adams.

If you detect any specious reasoning behind that diktat, at least you know who made it happen.

“Safe and Effective”

But so many other things just happened with COVID-19, rather serious things, and no one has had to answer for them, certainly not Dr. Anthony Fauci, who just days ago talked up another booster shot of his obviously defective mRNA “vaccines.”

Dr. Fauci proposed that despite a raft of emerging statistics from the life insurance realm that indicate a shockingly high number of mysterious all-causes deaths for people in the prime of life. Several conditions appear to be killing them:

1) Blood clotting in the capillaries of various organs, apparently caused by the “vaccine’s” main active ingredient, spike proteins.

2) Heart inflammation (pericarditis and myocarditis).

3) A mystifying array of neurological afflictions.

4) Switched-off immune system toggles, including the cellular mechanism for preventing the growth of cancers.

This developing picture of a public health catastrophe, growing more robustly detailed by the week, has somehow not alarmed the general public, not least because the entire public health officialdom does not want them to know about it.

Names

In fact, as averred to above, they are all still busy promoting the “vaccines” that are responsible.

Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC, is rather well-known — though her duties appear limited to the public impersonation of a “concerned mom” — but whoever heard of Rebecca Bunnell, Ph.D., director of the CDC’s Office of Science?

Is the Biden Administration Trying to Prolong the Ukraine War?

Posted by M. C. on April 12, 2022

The Biden administration’s strident moral posturing may needlessly prolong the Ukraine war at great cost in both treasure and blood to the Ukrainian people. Calls for regime change and putting Putin on trial for war crimes are dangerously irresponsible.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has created a humanitarian tragedy for that country, and all reasonable people should want the increasingly bloody conflict to end as soon as possible. Policies that the Biden administration is pursuing, however, threaten to prolong the war and its suffering. The troubling question arises about whether Washington’s policies are merely inept, or whether they reflect a deliberate strategy to bleed Russian forces and inflict a geo-strategic defeat on a great power adversary – regardless of the cost to Ukraine. Indications are mounting that it’s the latter scenario.

Even the decision by the United States and other NATO members to pour weapons into Ukraine, including Javelin anti-tank weapons, Stinger anti-aircraft missiles, and Switchblade drones, has had the inherent effect of prolonging the armed conflict. Without those arms shipments, it is likely that the Russian invasion would have proceeded faster, perhaps much faster, and more decisively. Western leaders, though, had understandable motives for wanting to deny the invader an easy victory. From their viewpoint, not assisting Ukraine would mean seeing a case of military aggression against a sovereign state rewarded. Because the aggression occurred in Europe, the United States and its NATO allies had an even greater incentive to inflict pain on Russia for creating the biggest disruption of the continent’s peace in nearly eight decades.

Some other Western, especially U.S., actions are less understandable. Administration officials have been noticeably unenthusiastic about statements by Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelensky, expressing a willingness to renounce his country’s ambitions to join NATO and instead accept a neutral status with multilateral guarantees. A firm, written commitment that Ukraine will never become a NATO member was a long-standing Russian demand even before the war began. Zelensky’s newfound receptivity has increased the prospects for a peace accord. So, too, has Moscow’s decision to scale-back military operations near Kyiv and other areas in northern Ukraine.

US leaders should be expressing explicit support for such diplomacy and the compromises it has begun to reflect. Furthermore, Washington should state explicitly that it will respect the terms of any peace settlement the two belligerents might be able to reach. Thus far, however, the Biden administration’s reaction to the bilateral peace talks has been tepid at best, and it even remains uncertain whether the United States would refrain from discouraging or undermining an accord.
