Federal law requires car makers to start monitoring drivers

Posted by M. C. on September 14, 2024

Business Reform

The $1.2 trillion “Bipartisan Infrastructure Deal” contains provisions which implement a federal per mile user fee on drivers of passenger vehicles and requires car makers to build driver monitoring technology (aka driver facing cameras) into new vehicles.

Driver facing cameras. Everything you do, everywhere you go will be monitored, taxed, data banked and information sold.

Enabling a “Brutus” To Slay the Elon Musk “Caesar”

Posted by M. C. on September 13, 2024

By Alastair Crooke
Strategic Culture

Because, after the 2016 U.S. election, the U.S. political backroom élites blamed democracy and populism for producing bad election outcomes. Anti-establishment Trump had actually won in the U.S.; Bolsonaro won too, Farage surged, Modi won again, and Brexit etc., etc.

Make no mistake, the Ruling Strata are angry; they are angry that their technical expertise and consensus about ‘just about everything’ is being spurned by the ‘deplorables’. There will be prosecutions, convictions and fines for cyber ‘actors’ who disrupt the digital ‘literacy’, the ‘leaders’ warn.

War has broken out. There is no need for further pretence about it.

In the Washington Post on Monday, the headlines read: Musk and Durov are facing the revenge of the regulators. Former U.S. Labor Secretary, Robert Reich, in the British Guardian newspaper, published a piece on how to ‘rein-in’ Elon Musk, suggesting that “regulators around the world should threaten Musk with arrest” on lines of that which befell Pavel Durov recently in Paris.

As should be clear to all now, ‘war’ has broken out. There is no need for further pretence about it. Rather, there is evident glee at the prospect of a crackdown on the ‘Far-Right’ and its internet users: i.e. those who spread ‘disinformation’ or mal-information that ‘threatens’ the broad ‘cognitive infrastructure’ (which is to say, what the people think!).

Professor Frank Furedi observes:

“There is an unholy alliance of western leaders – Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz – whose hatred of what they call populism is undisguised. In his recent visits to Berlin and Paris, Starmer constantly referred to the threat posed by populism. During his meeting with Scholz in Berlin on 28 August, Starmer spoke about the importance of defeating “the snake oil of populism and nationalism”.

Furedi explained that as far as Starmer was concerned, populism was a threat to the power of the technocratic élites throughout Europe:

“Speaking in Paris, a day later, Starmer pointed to the far Right as a ‘very real threat’ and again used the term ‘snake oil’ of populism. Starmer has never stopped talking about the ‘snake oil of populism’. These days virtually every political problem is blamed on populism … The coupling of the term snake-oil with populism is constantly used in the propaganda of the technocratic political elite. Indeed, tackling and discrediting snake oil populists is its number one priority”.

So, what is the source of the élite’s anti-populist hysteria? The answer is that the latter know that they have become severed from the values and respect of their own people and that it is only a matter of time before they are seriously challenged, in one form or another.

How to Stop Cops From Using Your Neighbors Cameras Against You

Posted by M. C. on September 13, 2024

It’s not just the government spying on you; your neighbors might be helping them too. In this video, I’m diving into how the police use your neighbors to spy on your home—legally and without a warrant. You’d think your home is your sanctuary, protected by the Fourth Amendment, right? But as the case of Borg v. Town of Westport shows, that’s not always how it plays out. Imagine finding out that police were using your neighbor’s camera to conduct 13 weeks of continuous surveillance on your home—all without a warrant. And it’s perfectly legal.

You need to fence, wall off, essentially block visibility of your property from the street to mandate cops to get a warrant to spy on you…if you are lucky.

Support Your Local Lemonade Stand!

Posted by M. C. on September 10, 2024

True Economic Reform lies in a Change of Focus

In America (and the West in general) which is in deep economic decay, this is the kind of economic activity which needs support from the people now more than ever.

Professor Wall and Jason

https://keepgovlocal.substack.com/p/support-your-local-lemonade-stand

A short time ago, one of your respective authors was driving back to his home in the sticks after a busy day tending to business matters in the city. In a small town on the way, a familiar sight was on the curb in front of a neighborhood house. A small folding table complete with a frosty pitcher, a stack of cups, and a white poster board sign reading “Lemonade For Sale. $1 per Cup.” Four children tended the table from their folding chairs around it, and a parent sat on the porch a couple yards away keeping an eye on them. It seemed like a good opportunity to support the local economy and there was little chance of the big guy/girl getting his/her cut of the profits. Soon, an undiluted free market transaction benefited both parties; yours truly from a cold, refreshing drink, and the lemonade stand representatives from a cold, hard-earned, invest-able, save-able dollar bill…and a 100% tip.

Summer and Autumn are times when local economic opportunities are expressed more openly; from lemonade stands to farmers markets where locals trade with one another in town squares, pavilions, and parks. These are people committed to providing quality produce – an essential commitment because it has never been more convenient to pass up a farmer’s market and lemonade stand. Consider that groceries purchased online can be delivered in one day. Granted, the buyer has to open the front door and put them away, but the convenience is a no-brainer. Quality is the only selling point that these small businesspeople can use to compete, and many excel. Though they do seek monetary return for their labors, it is merely a part of the wholesome satisfaction that comes from a free, reciprocal, and unforced transaction. These are hard-working, honest individuals, who have no corporate overlord wielding a metaphorical whip over them. This means they have the freedom to more freely adapt to consumers’ changing needs and to make deals with those who have a special need or limited resources. They also more readily recognize and reward faithful patrons who continue to give them business. In short, this economic activity is the closest thing to the pure free market as described by Mises, Hazlitt, & Rothbard.
