Ocasio-Cortez Fails to Name Three Branches of Government

Posted by M. C. on November 20, 2018

Hopefully Cortez will soon dig a hole deep enough that we won’t be able to hear her.

https://www.breitbart.com/video/2018/11/19/watch-ocasio-cortez-fails-name-three-branches-government/

Representative-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez failed to accurately name the three branches of the federal government while speaking on a video conference call with prospective left-wing candidates on Saturday.

“If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress — uh, rather, all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House,” Ocasio-Cortez said Saturday, speaking on a video call with Justice Democrats.

Contrary to Ocasio-Cortez’s claim, the U.S. government is divided into branches and not chambers.

According to the USA.gov website, the U.S. government is divided into three branches: the executive branch, the judicial branch, and the legislative branch.

An Ohio Republican state representative then called her out on Twitter for failing to correctly name the three branches of the U.S. government:

What is a chamber of government, @Ocasio2018? 🤔🧐

Maybe instead of Republicans drooling over every minute of footage of me in slow-mo, waiting to chop up word slips that I correct in real-tomd, they actually step up enough to make the argument they want to make:

that they don’t believe people deserve a right to healthcare.

Ocasio-Cortez, the 29-year-old Democratic Socialist from New York who has crafted an image of herself as a working-class woman despite being raised in the affluent suburb of Westchester County, will be the youngest female member of the House once she is sworn in this January.

EconomicPolicyJournal.com: Socilaists Are Now Pitching Universal Healthcare as a “Jobs Program”

Posted by M. C. on October 23, 2018

The only thing that socialist healthcare can do is shift jobs in a distorted manner that will result in greater inefficiencies in the jobs market and in healthcare.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tweets:

@Ocasio2018

US House candidate, NY-14

Medicare for All is a bill on the floor of Congress.
It means:
✅ Single-payer healthcare
✅ Physical, mental, & dental coverage
✅ Payment-free at the point of service, so we don’t delay care for large cash payments
✅ A jobs program to transition + expand healthcare work

Shefali Luthra

@shefalil

Medicare-for-all is increasingly popular — but it turns out, candidates often mean wildly different things when deploying the phrase. @RosenthalHealth and I went long in the @nytimes about why this mattershttps://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/19/opinion/sunday/medicare-single-payer-health-care.html?action=click&module=Opinion&pgtype=Homepage

Which means she is as dumb as Trump when it comes to jobs.

Markets clear, including the jobs market. No “jobs programs” are required.

The only thing that socialist healthcare can do is shift jobs in a distorted manner that will result in greater inefficiencies in the jobs market and in healthcare.

Should the Electoral College Be Abolished? – LewRockwell

Posted by M. C. on October 17, 2018

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2018/10/walter-e-williams/the-electoral-college-debate/

By

Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, seeking to represent New York’s 14th Congressional District, has called for the abolition of the Electoral College. Her argument came on the heels of the Senate’s confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. She was lamenting the fact that Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, nominated by George W. Bush, and Justices Neil Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, nominated by Donald Trump, were court appointments made by presidents who lost the popular vote but won the Electoral College vote.

Hillary Clinton has long been a critic of the Electoral College. Just recently, she wrote in The Atlantic, “You won’t be surprised to hear that I passionately believe it’s time to abolish the Electoral College.”…

A large part of Americans’ miseducation is the often heard claim that we are a democracy. The word “democracy” appears nowhere in the two most fundamental documents of our nation — Read the rest of this entry »

EconomicPolicyJournal.com: “The New York Times” Publishes a Genius

Posted by M. C. on September 1, 2018

So how do things get made and services performed if everyone sits back waiting for their free stuff?

Please explain. Oh yeah, taxes from people waiting for free stuff!?!?

Taxes are the penalty you pay for being productive and contributing to society.

“The New York Times” Publishes a Genius

The New York Times features an op-ed today by Corey Robin, a professor of political science at Brooklyn College and the City University of New York Graduate Center.

Under the title, The New Socialists: Why the pitch from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders resonates in 2018, he concludes his essay with this gem:

The socialist, by contrast, believes that making things free makes people free.

Oh yeah, who needs to understand supply and demand and that we live in a world of scarcity, just declare everything free for everybody.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Was Predictable | Mises Wire

Posted by M. C. on July 24, 2018

https://mises.org/wire/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-was-predictable

Beyond the typical R vs. D analysis that continues to grab headlines, what is most troubling about Ocasio’s meteoric rise to political fame is her complete disregard for basic economics.

A brief look at her platform is enough to realize that the ideas of socialism are alive and well in American politics.

Her platform is centered on the following policy planks:

  • Medicare for all
  • Free public university
  • Universal jobs guarantee
  • Housing as a human right

The common denominator of all her proposals is the amount of faith placed in the State to conduct private affairs. Channeling the spirit of failed presidential candidate Bernie Sanders , Ocasio describes her program asdemocratic socialism . Read the rest of this entry »

A 28-year-old Democratic Socialist just ousted a powerful, 10-term congressman in New York

Posted by M. C. on June 27, 2018

The socialism loving millennial culture is alive and well in the Bagel.

What New York millennials really want is New York’s Free lunch spread across the country. The problem with that is there will be no one left to tax to support it. Ask someone from Buffalo about their high taxes designed is to shore up NYC.

Like Maggie Thatcher said, socialism is great until you run out of other people’s money.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a 28-year-old Latina running her first campaign, ousted 10-term incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in New York’s 14th congressional district on Tuesday, CNN projects, in the most shocking upset of a rollicking political season.

An activist and member of the Democratic Socialists of America, Ocasio-Cortez won over voters in the minority-majority district with a ruthlessly efficient grassroots bid, even as Crowley — the fourth-ranking Democrat in the House — outraised her by a 10-to-1 margin.
