Cloward-Piven Strategy – The Devil’s handiwork

Don’t presume the C-P strategy can’t – or doesn’t – work both ways. What if the internals of the bureaucratic Deep Swamp work in harmony with the overwhelming external pressures by slow-walking the very administrative solutions to the problem?

By Brian Wilson

Remember that famous recurring line from “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”?

Worse than the Pinkerton agents to Butch and Sundance, Cloward and Piven are to the stability and future of America.

If the Cloward-Piven Strategy is new to you, Fred Elbel’s  “Cloward–Piven strategy – fundamentally transforming America” does an outstanding job breaking it down into bite-size pieces.

“…developed in 1966 by Americans Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven – both sociologists and political activists…[t]he strategy focused on overloading the United States public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis, which would ultimately lead to replacing the welfare system with a national system of “a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty”.

It worked pretty well. So well, in fact, the outline has been applied in many instances to bring about the disruption of public programs, policies and systems:

1965 Immigration Act

2008 Financial Crisis

2014 Border crisis – Unaccompanied Alien Children

2015 Syrian refugees – importing terrorism

Time marches on and the Cloward–Piven strategy “remains an active instrument of change in America. Ultimately, it is the tool by which multicultural elites aim to “fundamentally transform America.” – Fred Elbel

To fully appreciate the genius of the strategy, just look around at the other pressure points of American society being clogged and hamstrung by the non-stop avalanche of C-P red tape.

The southern – and now northern – borders are beyond overwhelmed. Border Patrol agents are taken away from the flood of illegals and reassigned to paper pushing, babysitting and chauffeuring gigs. And the flood continues unabated even a little bit.

As the immigrant invasion continues – over 5 million by current estimates – local support structures and systems are overwhelmed: schools, housing, law enforcement, retail outlets are unable to cope at all, much less efficiently. The damage is not reserved to the systems. Visit a local hospital ER. And not just in towns in Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma and California. Identical issues around the country are similarly effected as ‘get-aways’ and exported immigrants make their way to Chicago, New York, Miami, LA, San Francisco. All those cities already had overcrowding problems left over from the Covid 19 “epidemic”. Crime stats are skyrocketing, primarily in democratically governed cities and Blue states.

Food shortages are ubiquitous. Baby formula to Brussels sprouts to ground meat to eggs continue to run in short supply as prices rise. Suspicious fires, bombings and ‘accidents’ at food processing plants are blamed without explanation along with droughts, avian flu and the dreaded (supposed) C19 super-duper ‘sub variants’ . Government regulations reducing the application of certain fertilizers on farms in Holland, Spain, France are proliferating, forcing crop, flock and herd reductions. Results: farms closing creating more food shortages, unemployment and increasing welfare rolls.

A Formula for Understanding – LewRockwell

Posted by M. C. on October 17, 2021

By Brian Wilson

Say there, Friend…have you been searching for an answer to ‘What the hell is going on?’ Do you find yourself saying repeatedly “This doesn’t make any sense!” Or using ‘WTF?’ in your business letters and Mother’s Day cards? Understanding the simple formula above can solve the problem.

CP stands for the Cloward-Piven Strategy, a 1966 political concept conceived by two American sociologists, Richard Cloward and Frances Piven (who also led an active activist life moonlighting from their gig at Columbia U.). The idea was based on their belief lotsa folks eligible for Welfare bennies weren’t getting their spot at the public-provided trough. To resolve that tragedy, they needed to foment a sign-up campaign so large, the sheer numbers would blow the doors off the administrating agencies, creating a crisis so big, it would shake awake the DC bureaucrats and emotionally driven Democrats, always sensitive to trading Boo-Hoos and Temper Fits for votes, government expansion, involvement, and dependency.

Being 1966, with the Ds in charge of everything, this was like mainlining catnip to Tabby!

Cloward-Piven “proposed to create a crisis in the current welfare system – by exploiting the gap between welfare law and practice – that would ultimately bring about its collapse and replace it with a system of guaranteed annual income. They hoped to accomplish this end by informing the poor of their rights to welfare assistance, encouraging them to apply for benefits and, in effect, overloading an already overburdened bureaucracy.” – Michael Reisch, “The Road Not Taken

‘Cloward-Piven’ became so popular in its simplicity and effectiveness, it morphed into a cliché. Its successful application is evidenced by the sheer volume of mind-numbing issues cascading over News consumers.’. Consider the permanent ‘COVID’ pandemic, vaccines, ‘variants’, mandates, the Afghanistan debacle, China, Russia, the southern border invasion of illegal immigrants, murders, riots, the economy, weak US labor data, inflation, recession, rising taxation, economic populism, collapsing supply chains, shortages and delays, soaring energy and food prices, CRT, public schools, social media censorship and the drumbeat of more appalling laws and regulations being schemed in the backrooms of Washington – everything happening concurrently. Who can comprehend it?

You can’t.

That’s the goal of the Cloward-Piven Strategy: Overwhelm to Overthrow.

Comprehension is not required.

The popular abbreviation, MSM (Main Stream Media), represents the necessary partner with those administrating the C-P Strategy. One could argue overwhelming government agencies commandeering the burgeoning Welfare State would have been accomplished eventually with typical political hubris, the unrelenting tenacity of Democrats, and vanishing principles of Republicans. However, that would have consumed more time than the Elite’s Timekeepers could allow.  The surprise election of Donald Trump ignited such panic within Deep State,  Swamp Things had to turbocharge their implementation of CP+MSM=T, an understatement easily supported by a pantload of yellow journalism.

When combined, C-P + MSM manifest the unholy matrimony between the political entities administering the C-P strategy and public conditioning by a weaponized MSM; to inundate an ignorant and apathetic populace with a perpetual torrent of incomprehensible disinformation and outright lies. Thanks to Alt Media, the Public gradually caught on to many of the lies, smears, and ‘fake news’ tactics but by then, the damage was done. Perpetrators, ‘empowered’ by the ease with which they pulled off their coup, were already on to bigger and badder things. ‘Disrupting’ and ‘overwhelming’ programs, policies and a Presidential election became mere playthings; the entire concept of America, a Constitutionally-Limited Government instituted to protect the unalienable Rights of Citizens was “oh-so-1776!”! It must be transformed.

The events of just the last 12 months are sufficient to understand the “ T” in our formula.

Tyranny. While the “T” word still gets derisive scoffs and snorts among the Raised Pinky set of the 99%, Liberal/Progressives policies championed by controlling Dems and marketed by their PR agencies embedded in the MSM, are eagerly marching the country down the one-way highway to Tyranny, the elimination of Freedom, to the point of not just ‘ruling’, but ‘owning’ us.

Resistance thus far has been sadly underwhelming.

Official Knee-Jerk Responses to public revelations of this campaign –  “Unacceptable!”, “Outrageous!”, “Unconstitutional!”, “UnAmerican!” – are transparent expressions of defeat, not the full-throated retaliation required. Where is the battle plan with specific recommendations for a counter-attack to defend and preserve the Republic? While there may be some cynically accurate answers, defeating the Cloward-Piven Strategy requires an equal and opposite reaction with identical operating principles and goals: a passionate, overwhelming and consistent response that nullifies the anti-freedom programs and policies incrementally established for the last 100 years.

All that’s needed is solving for X  in  L = X where L is Leadership and X is Who?

Brian Wilson [send him mail], nationally ignored talk show host and occasional LRC un-indicted co-contributor having recently released his fourth book, is now busily scribbling an unlikely screenplay for #3. With his spare hour, he is focused on splitting the atom and pursuing the elusive Whirled Peas, all from his technically challenged studios on the formerly pristine shores of the Great Unnamed Lake, allegedly in the Southeast

Cloward–Piven Strategy -Are COVID-19 Lockdowns and Shutdowns The Answer To The Progressives Prayers?

Posted by M. C. on April 16, 2020

The overloading the welfare system part is well on it’s way.

Will proposed monthly COVID-19 payouts turn permanent?

The Cloward–Piven strategy is a political strategy outlined in 1966 by American sociologists and political activists Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven that called for overloading the U.S. public welfare system in order to precipitate a crisis that would lead to a replacement of the welfare system with “a guaranteed annual income and thus an end to poverty”.[1]

The authors pinned their hopes on creating disruption within the Democratic Party:

“Conservative Republicans are always ready to declaim the evils of public welfare, and they would probably be the first to raise a hue and cry. But deeper and politically more telling conflicts would take place within the Democratic coalition…Whites – both working class ethnic groups and many in the middle class – would be aroused against the ghetto poor, while liberal groups, which until recently have been comforted by the notion that the poor are few… would probably support the movement. Group conflict, spelling political crisis for the local party apparatus, would thus become acute as welfare rolls mounted and the strains on local budgets became more severe.”[4]

Gillum: Medicare for All Won’t Work in Florida Alone, We’d Need ‘Confederation of States’

Posted by M. C. on August 30, 2018

No, I can’t imagine it. Progressive states New York, California and Illinois are already on the financial ropes.

Andrew Gillum is a prototypical socialist enamored, economically ignorant, free stuff loving millennial.

Florida can’t pay for this progressive government instigated fiasco so Gillum wants these other cash strapped progressive states to chip in. No one can afford to pay for their own medicare, so how is everyone (everyone meaning taxpayers like you) supposed to help Florida? How is this supposed to work?

These Bernie wannabes can’t possibly have capability of original thought.

If there is any thought involved it would be intent on facilitating a Cloward-Piven driven government collapse.

Medicare: Is there such a thing as an upside down, inside out pyramid scheme?

by Ian Hanchett

On Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “Cuomo Primetime,” Tallahassee Mayor and Florida Democratic Gubernatorial nominee Andrew Gillum said that for Florida to do a Medicare for all system, “we would have to do it as a confederation of states. We could not do it by ourselves solely here in the state of Florida.”… Read the rest of this entry »

NY Teamsters Pension Becomes First To Run Out Of Money As Expert Warns “Pension Tsunami” Is Coming | Zero Hedge

Posted by M. C. on March 2, 2017

Is this the Cloward-Piven Strategy in action? Collapsing the economy so everyone becomes dependant on government.

Cloward, Piven and president Barry all Colombia University alumni. Not much of a recommendation for the school unless you are a communist.

Of course, the Teamsters 707 and other Teamster pension boards attempted to submit plans that would have cut benefits in order to prolong payments to retirees but those plans were universally rejected by the Obama administration…better that the pensions just run out of cash completely
