If there is one thing freedom lovers are good at, it is making memes. As the meme wars rage on, it becomes ever more apparent that collectivists are sorely outgunned.

The left can’t meme. So lovers of government do what they always do when they don’t get their way: try to get a law passed.

If article 13 of new EU copyright protections passes, it could mean the death of memes and even GIFs.

The rule would more strictly protect copyrighted material. So if a still shot of a movie scene was depicted in memes, that would be copyright infringement.

Even a copyrighted poster in the background of an uploaded video could violate the rule as it currently reads.

GIFs that depict movie scene would also be at risk, and so would parodies. Read the rest of this entry »

UKIP leader Gerard Batten has accused the European Union of blackmailing member states into accepting migrants from “Islamic countries”, amid boos and jeers from fellow MEPs.

“You used the emotional blackmail argument of talking about helping defenseless refugee families. And yet, the reality is that the vast majority of these migrants are young men from Islamic countries,” said Gerard Batten, the head of the UK Independence Party (UKIP) on Wednesday while speaking in the European Parliament. “This is not immigration – this is invasion!”

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker had a moment of clarity once.  He famously said, “When things get serious, you have to lie.”

Given the state of affairs in his beloved European Union right now Mr. Juncker and company are doing a lot of lying.

It is rare in politics to get that kind of honesty from a politician, especially one currently in office.  But, Juncker’s statement shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone who is even a semi-serious political observer.

It’s why I find it funny that the Democrats and Antifa-Left get so bent out of shape when Donald Trump exaggerates or outright lies.  To him lying’s a tactic.  Catching Donald Trump in a falsehood is like trying to ladle water with a sieve.

So, by the Juncker Maxim, things must be getting very serious because the amount and type of lies being thrown around by people who are supposed to know better have been staggering.

To the point that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, “I simply don’t have any normal terms left to describe all this.”… Read the rest of this entry »

The fact that Russia is deemed to be making a switch to a war footing tells us they were not previously on that foot.  Why would they. Although a nuclear power Russia has the economy of Italy. War is a losers game.

According to news reports in the British press, Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed Russia’s industries to prepare themselves to be able to make a quick switch to war production. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/vladimir-putin-russia-business-war-production-sochi-military-talks-a8069951.html

Clearly, the Russian government would not make such an announcement unless it was convinced that the prospect of war with the West was real. For some time I have emphasized in my columns that the consequence of years of hostile actions taken by Washington and its European vassals against Russia was leading to war. It’s an open secret that the “Soros network” has an extensive sphere of influence in the European Parliament and in other European Union institutions. The list of Soros has been made public recently. The document lists 226 MEPs from all sides of political spectrum, including former President of the European Parliament Martin Schulz, former Belgian PM Guy Verhofstadt, seven vice-presidents, and a number of committee heads, coordinators, and quaestors. These people promote the ideas of Soros, such as bringing in more migrants, same-sex marriages, integration of Ukraine into the EU, and countering Russia.
