New Soros/Koch-Funded Think Tank Claims To Oppose US Forever War – Caitlin Johnstone

Posted by M. C. on July 2, 2019

Just make a mental note of the information you have about it now, and pay attention to what’s happening when you see the words “Quincy Institute” in reports from the political/media class going forward.

Good news. Too good to be true.

https://caitlinjohnstone.com/2019/07/01/new-soroskoch-funded-think-tank-claims-to-oppose-us-forever-war/

If you were to have asked me what news reports I definitely did not expect to see when checking my news feed this morning, “Malignant plutocrats join hands across partisan divide to end America’s forever war” would probably have been among my first guesses. And yet, weirdly, here we are.

A new Boston Globe article titled “In an astonishing turn, George Soros and Charles Koch team up to end US ‘forever war’ policy” reports that the two influential billionaires have chipped in a half a million dollars apiece to start a new DC think tank with the goal of doing the exact opposite of the sort of thing that billionaire-funded DC think tanks normally do.

“Besides being billionaires and spending much of their fortunes to promote pet causes, the leftist financier George Soros and the right-wing Koch brothers have little in common,” the report begins. “They could be seen as polar opposites. Soros is an old-fashioned New Deal liberal. The Koch brothers are fire-breathing right-wingers who dream of cutting taxes and dismantling government. Now they have found something to agree on: the United States must end its ‘forever war’ and adopt an entirely new foreign policy.”

“In concrete terms, this means the Quincy Institute will likely advocate a withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan and Syria; a return to the nuclear deal with Iran; less confrontational approaches to Russia and China; an end to regime-change campaigns against Venezuela and Cuba; and sharp reductions in the defense budget,” the article reads.

Responses to this news from Twitter’s blue-ticked commentariat have been largely supportive.

“Great to see that avoiding really stupid, costly wars has support across party lines,” tweeted author and professor Max Abrahms.

“Certainly understand skepticism of Soros and Koch money but with a platform of ending endless war and Trita Parsi at the helm, this sounds very promising and is sorely needed as we inch towards catastrophic nuclear war,” said journalist Dan Cohen.

“A new foreign policy think tank that will ‘promote an approach to the world based on diplomacy and restraint rather than threats, sanctions, and bombing.’ YES PLEASE,” tweeted In The Now‘s Rania Khalek.

“Finally. A think tank that aims to fight the blob and endless war. Hope Stephen Walt will be involved,” tweeted foreign policy analyst Joshua Landis.

Others have been a touch more skeptical.

“Hi Joshua, I’ve got a bridge on sale. You seem very interested in buying such. Gimme a call,” Moon of Alabama tweeted at Landis.

Such skepticism is warranted. It is true that the Quincy Institute’s co-fouder Trita Parsi has been a vocal opponent of US imperialism towards Iran and elsewhere, but it is also true that the Kochs and Soros have both acted as toxic facilitators of US imperialism.

The report claims that the new think tank seeks an end to America’s regime change agenda in Venezuela, for example, yet investigative journalist Greg Palast reports that the Koch brothers have been a major driving force behind that very agenda. The group claims to seek a de-escalation against Syria, yet investigative journalist Vanessa Beeley and alternative media outlet Mintpress News have documented extensive ties between George Soros and the various NGOs and narrative management operations which have been facilitating the agenda of toppling Syria’s government.

In 2014 journalist Mark Ames observed that Soros “funded many of the NGOs involved in ‘color revolutions’ including small donations to the same Ukraine NGOs that Omidyar backed. (Like Omidyar Network does today, Soros’ charity arms—Open Society and Renaissance Foundation—publicly preached transparency and good government in places like Russia during the Yeltsin years, while Soros’ financial arm speculated on Russian debt and participated in scandal-plagued auctions of state assets.)”

Charles Koch has been a major donor to the Iraq-raping think tank American Enterprise Institute, which has returned the favor by aggressively churning out narrative management on the public image of the Koch brothers. George Soros is a major funder of the NATO narrative management firm Atlantic Council, which has been a driving force behind the campaign manufacturing consent for escalations against Russia, something the Quincy Institute claims to oppose.

So if you’re interested in viewing world events through a lens that is untainted by corrupt narrative management, some skepticism of this new Quincy Institute is not just appropriate, but absolutely required.

The term “think tank” almost always refers to a group of academics hired by plutocrats to come up with reasons why it is very good and smart to do something very evil and stupid, and then to market those reasons at key points of influence. They are key tools of narrative management for the billionaire class, and the interests of the billionaire class are rarely in alignment with those of ordinary people. This is especially true when said billionaires are operating in a bipartisan manner.

But the good news is that all we have to do to know the truth about this new group’s purposes is watch its behavior over time, and pay attention to who benefits from the narratives it ends up pushing. Just make a mental note of the information you have about it now, and pay attention to what’s happening when you see the words “Quincy Institute” in reports from the political/media class going forward. If this think tank is what it claims to be, we will see this proven over time in the effects it has on dominant narratives and government policy. If it isn’t, we’ll see that, too.

Nolte: Poynter Temporarily Pulls Blacklist with a Big Lie and Promise to Return

Posted by M. C. on May 3, 2019

Poynter.org is a Journalism school that claims to “champion the values” of press freedom.

Why Barbara Allen and Poynter are important is unknown to me. Breitbart thinks they are but Breitbart like to publicize what rappers and Hollywood twits have to say.

Poynter is funded by George Soros’ Open Society and supporters that you might find funding NPR. So that tells you something.

https://www.breitbart.com/the-media/2019/05/03/nolte-poynter-temporarily-pulls-blacklist-with-a-big-lie-and-promise-to-return/

by John Nolte

Poynter’s announcement about pulling its blacklist of 515 news outlets is not only framed around a lie, but a promise the blacklist will return.

The lie is so audacious and flies so hard in the face of what we all know to be true, if Poynter were anything close to a credible institution it would list itself as fake news.

Twice in this three-paragraph statement, Poynter’s managing editor Barbara Allen tells this lie.

Here’s big, fat lie number one: “Our aim was to provide a useful tool for readers to gauge the legitimacy of the information they were consuming.”

And here’s big, fat lie number two: “The list was intended to be a starting place for readers and journalists to learn more about the veracity of websites that purported to offer news[.]”

Lie, lie, lie, lie lie… That is all a lie…

According to Poynter’s own words, its own introduction to its blacklist, the “aim” was to give advertisers a list of news sites that a) they should not advertise with or b) pull their advertising from.

Poynter’s own words promise that their advertiser “blacklist” (yes, Poynter actually uses that word) is better than your advertiser blacklist [emphasis added]:

Advertisers don’t want to support publishers that might tar their brand with hate speech, falsehoods or some kinds of political messaging — but too often, they have little choice in the matter.

Most ad-tech dashboards make it hard for businesses to prevent their ads from appearing on (and funding) disreputable sites. Marketers can create blacklists, but many of those lists have been out-of-date or incomplete.

Aside from journalists, researchers and news consumers, we hope that the UnNews index will be useful for advertisers that want to stop funding misinformation.

“Marketers can create blacklists,” Poynter helpfully points out, but since your blacklist might not be as comprehensive as our blacklist here’s a handy blacklist that will allow you to blacklist those we believe should be blacklisted.

Poynter’s list includes… Breitbart News, the Media Research Center, Pajamas Media, Washington Examiner, The Daily Wire, The Blaze, Red State, Project Veritas, Newsmax, Zero Hedge, LifeSite, Judicial Watch, Frontpage, The Washington Free Beacon, The Daily Caller, and the Drudge Report…

But nowhere on this list will you find the establishment media outlets — CNN, NBC, the Washington Post, Politico, the New York Times, MSNBC, etc. —  responsible for blowing the biggest stories of the last five years:

  • The Trayvon Martin Hoax
  • The Hands Up, Don’t Shoot Hoax
  • Donald Trump Can’t Win
  • The Russia Collusion Hoax
  • The Brett Kavanaugh Serial Rapist Hoax
  • The Covington High School Boys Hoax

Poynter’s blacklist was only about one thing, had only one goal — one — and that was to tell advertisers to starve alternative media, alternative thought and ideas to death…

Brussels Shows Its Fear of Euroskeptics

Posted by M. C. on March 11, 2019

https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2019/03/10/brussels-shows-its-fear-of-euroskeptics.html

Tom LUONGO

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has been under fire from the European Union for years for his opposition to German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s open immigration policy.

A policy which she herself has had to pull back on. And no matter how far Merkel has changed her stance and acceded to the reality of the damage her policy has created, Orban is still guilty of the sin of non-compliance.

Actually, he’s guilty of a whole lot more than that. Because Orban has not only stepped on the third-rail of European politics he’s stomped up and down while taking a massive dump on it.

That third-rail, of course, is naming names. Naming the very person who controls so much of EU policy through his co-opting large swaths of the European parliament.

That person, of course, is George Soros.

Now there is a push, ahead of May’s European Parliamentary elections, to kick Orban’s dominant Fidesz party out of the European People’s Party (EPP), a nominal center-right coalition and the largest single party within the EU parliament.

And with each victory over Soros Orban grows even bolder. After a successful re-election campaign predicated on the slogan, “Don’t Let Soros Win,” Orban has banned Soros’ major NGO, Open Society Foundation, as well as forced out his Central European University.

But his biggest sin was equating outgoing European Commission President Jean-Claude “When things get tough you have to lie” Juncker with Soros’ attempts to weaken Hungary’s border… Read the rest of this entry »

Soros Confirms He is Losing in Europe – Gold Goats ‘n Guns

Posted by M. C. on February 17, 2019

If there was ever a moment that signaled the end of the European Union, it was George Soros admitting, in public, that we should look on all his works and despair.

An end to both, one can only hope.

https://tomluongo.me/2019/02/12/soros-confirms-he-is-losing-in-europe/

TOM LUONGO

Last month at Davos, George Soros turned around completely on China, echoing the Trump administration (of all things) in warning the world against the rise of China versus his previous stance.

The main reason for this shift in Soros’ attitude on China stems from his fear that the European Union will not achieve its goals of becoming the next great world power and subjugate the Chinese, but rather dissolve like the Soviet Union on which it is based.

He finally aired those fears in another of his infamous op-eds over at Project Syndicate (link through RT here). In sum, they are simply that Europeans must chuck off that which makes them individuals for the sake of Mother Europe.

The European Union is the highest ideal and, as such, should be that for all decent Europeans. This is the highest form of collectivist thinking.

And it’s time to circle the wagons against the ravening hordes of people who don’t like getting slowly bled to death, their culture eradicated, their neighborhoods destroyed and their dignity as people shot in the face with tear gas.

I’ve read megalomaniacal treatises in my life, but this one was impressive to say the least. Read the rest of this entry »

Soros ‘person of the year’ indeed: In 2018 globalists pushed peoples’ patience to the edge — RT Op-ed

Posted by M. C. on January 2, 2019

Indeed, if the globalist George Soros wants to lend his Midas touch to ameliorating the migrant’s plight, why does he think that relocating them to European countries is the solution?

Any guesses who will be forced to pay down the debt on this high-risk venture? If you guessed George Soros, guess again.

https://www.rt.com/op-ed/447686-globalists-soros-france-protests/

Reuters / Bernadett Szabo

Since 2015, the proponents of neoliberalism have been pushing ahead with their plans for open borders and globalist agenda without the consent of the people. The last 365 days saw that destructive agenda greatly challenged.

In light of the epic events that shaped our world in 2018, it seems the Yellow Vests – the thousands of French citizens who took to the streets of Paris to protest austerity and the rise of inequality – would have been a nice choice for the Financial Times’ ‘person of the year’ award. Instead, that title was bestowed upon the billionaire globalist, George Soros, who has arguably done more meddling in the affairs of modern democratic states than any other person on the planet.

Perhaps FT’s controversial nomination was an attempt to rally the forces of neoliberalism at a time when populism and nascent nationalism is sweeping the planet. Indeed, the shocking images coming out of France provide a grim wake-up call as to where we may be heading if the globalists continue to undermine the power of the nation-state…

Have We Reached Peak Soros? – Gold Goats ‘n Guns

Posted by M. C. on November 29, 2018

Just this week, out of nowhere, Soros’ Open Society Foundation packed its bags and left Turkey after its founder was arrested for fomenting dissent.

https://tomluongo.me/2018/11/27/have-we-reached-peak-soros/

TOM LUONGO

George Soros is losing.  He still thinks he’s winning.  But, in reality, he’s losing.

All around you, if you look closely enough, you will see the spectre of George Soros lurking behind the headlines.  The caravan, net neutrality, regulating Facebook, the de-platforming of independent media, color revolutions and election meddling, refugee creation and manipulation, the trolls on Twitter, your blog and YouTube, etc.

All of these things we see in the headlines today are a product of George Soros’ money and his singular obsession with re-creating the world in his image.

Soros himself is a product of the times.  A multi-billionaire who could only exist in an era of unprecedented corruption of the basic foundations of society.  An age where the dangerous mix of Marxist ideology governs the somewhat unfettered free flow of capital has resulted in the mother of all bubbles in making money on money. WATCH: Female Antifa Member Allegedly Spits on, Punches Conservative Activist

Posted by M. C. on November 20, 2018

George Soros’ pay scale must be miserly. He attracts a low class of masked terrorist.

Portland does not look like #My kind of Town#. Could it be the next Londonstan?

Police arrested a 19-year-old Antifa protester Saturday for allegedly punching and spitting on conservative activists taking part in the #HimToo rally in Portland, Oregon.

Authorities arrested left-wing Antifa protester Hannah McClintock on a harassment charge, and arrested five others on other charges, including interfering with a peace officer and disorderly conduct, the Portland Police Bureau said in a statement.

video of the encounter shot by independent journalist Andy C. Ngo showed McClintock allegedly confronting the male demonstrators attending the rally.

The rally put a spotlight on male victims of sexual abuse and those falsely accused of sexual harassment. Left-wing counter-protesters also showed up to disrupt the rally and harass the attendees of the event…

Andrew Gillum Fought U.S. ‘Colonialism,’ ‘Genocide’ Through 2017 as Youth Director of Extremist Org

Posted by M. C. on October 30, 2018

Soros again

and Norman Lear.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2018/10/30/andrew-gillum-fought-u-s-colonialism-genocide-through-2017-youth-director-extremist-org/

by Aaron Klein

Florida gubernatorial candidate and Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum served as the director of a radical youth training organization whose mission was to challenge U.S. “predatory capitalism,” abolish the prison system, fight a “spiritual resistance” battle against “Christian hegemony,” redefine the meaning of “borders” while aiding “undocumented” aliens, and enact the “collective liberation” of “communities of color” amid what it described as the scourge of “white supremacy.”

Gillum’s group accused the U.S. of being a “colonialist” power perpetrating “structural violence” and “continued genocide.” It claimed conservatives in the U.S. judicial system were “justifying white supremacist policing practices.”

All of that extremist rhetoric and more was posted on the official “issues” sections of the organization’s website while Gillum not only served as its active director, but while his picture, position and bio were brandished on the same site on the “staff” page.

The organization in question is Young People For, or YP4, one of two youth training groups that Gillum directed and oversaw while he worked at the George Soros-financed People for the American Way, or PFAW, as field organizer in 2002 and then Director of Youth Leadership Programs from 2005 until January 13, 2017. He departed PFAW just ahead of his gubernatorial run. Read the rest of this entry »

Orban and Farage stand up to George Soros and his EU Parliament cronies (Video)

Posted by M. C. on September 13, 2018

Orban – Pro Chiristian, anti open border. No wonder the EU doesn’t like him.

http://theduran.com/orban-and-farage-stand-up-to-george-soros-and-his-eu-parliament-cronies-video/

By

The EU Parliament has moved to trigger what is referred to as the ‘nuclear option’ Article 7 against Hungary.

During the parliament session in Strasbourg, France, 448 MEPs voted in favour of invoking Article 7 against Hungary, while 197 voted against the motion and 48 abstained.

According to RT, Article 7 of the 2007 Treaty of Lisbon, often dubbed ‘nuclear option’, is designed to be applied if there is “a clear risk of a serious breach” of the EU values by one of the member states.

Once the motion was passed, it has to be approved by 4/5 of the European Council. Then, if the procedure is implemented fully, a decision adopted by the “qualified majority” of the EU states may lead to Hungary’s suspension in voting rights at the European Council.

Hungary, led by the right-wing government of Viktor Orban, had been accused by the Brussels of allegedly undermining the rule of law in the country, mainly by standing up to George Soros founded “Universities” and Soros regime change “NGOs”.

Orban confronted a hostile EU Parliament, and gave a fiery speech, vowing to keep Hungary independent and free of EU neoliberal, globalist dogma, telling MEPs, “you condemn us because we are not a nation of migrants.”

UKIP’s Nigel Farage defended Orban, blasting Eurocrats for their condemnation of the Hungarian PM, who has put in place measures to restrict the influence of George Soros.

Farage had a clear message for Orban and Hungary: “Come and join the Brexit Club, you’ll love it!” Read the rest of this entry »

Hungary Emerging as Protector of Persecuted Christians Around the Globe

Posted by M. C. on August 30, 2018

For Christianity, against George Soros. There is some logic there someplace.

https://russia-insider.com/en/node/24601

Dr. Stephen Turley

Transcript:

The nation of Hungary has announced its official policy to stand with and protect persecuted Christians around the world.

Breitbart News had an excellent and very informative interview with the Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Peter Szijjarto who outlined the top priorities for Hungarian foreign policy and financial assistance, and you will notice how radically different it sounds from the goals of globalist leaders.

Szijjarto argued that Hungary is first and foremost a Christian nation, and as such, it is going to prioritize helping persecuted Christians around the world. He of course is referencing particularly Middle East Christians who have been the victims of some of the most horrific violence imaginable, especially by ISIS.

By the way, ISIS has been so effectively neutralized, defeated and destroyed I am thankful to say. You know who has been responsible for that defeat and destruction of ISIS? It is the result of a joint effort between Russia and the United States. What do you know? Our media loves to talk about the great things that can happen when these two powers join together in a common purpose …
