In Defense of Marriage

Posted by M. C. on July 31, 2011

There is an aspect of the Defense of Marriage Act that everyone seems to be overlooking.  The act’s unconstitutionality and that marriage is a strictly religious issue. Government has no business messing.  It should be no big mystery why government got its meat hooks into marriage.  Government needs to show us the it has the power to say who we can marry.  It can be taxed.  It can have the blood sucked from our veins and deemed acceptable before bestowing approval.  Government can say whether you and your partner are deemed worthy to receive whatever benefits it sees fit to handout.  Notice how private enterprise is ahead of the curve and is dealing with “partner” issues just fine all by them selves, without government help. Government can decide whether it wants to shower its confiscated, redistributed taxes on your partner, but it has no right to say who your partner is. That is between you and God’s local representative.

The government, and their close buddies, big insurance companies, have decided that a married couple must meet certain legal requirements for benefits. This would be a state approved marriage with a valid marriage certificate. Same sex couples, however, are required only to be in a “committed relationship.”

Remember slaves were not permitted to marry. Controlling the masses is easy if you can make them believe you control their intimate feelings.
