Opinion from a Libertarian ViewPoint

Mr. Lubner was born a Republican (without a spine)

Kathleen Parker, in today’s Erie Times News, thinks the Tea Partiers should be banned to the nether regions for weakening the Republican party. Kathleen is right but backwards. The traditional Republcan party is the spineless half bother who, like in a Castle movie, should be kept locked in the attic. The R’s aren’t really much different from the D’s.  Both want to spend us into oblivion.  Empire building wars with borrowed money on one hand vs massive giveaways via tax redistribution on the other.  The current deficit reduction debate demonstrated how the republicans were quick to bend once August 2nd drew near.  Compromise!  The Tea Partiers didn’t want to compromise!  No Wonder!  The Republicans and Democrats compromise consisted of whether we are to die in a plane crash or a train wreck.  The Tea Partiers at least made passing attempt to really face some issues.  The tea Party had the courage of their lightweight convictions and held relatively steadfast.  Kathleen will be waiting a long time before those “substantial tax cuts” put in danger by the tea party see the light of day.  She doesn’t realize the deal struck is totally worthless.  There will be no savings nor debt reduction as noted elsewhere in this blog.  The Tea Party hasn’t been around long enough to tell whether they will last or be osmosed (my word) into Republicrats.  But for now they are showing they have some sand.  Ms Parker can’t see why FreedomWorks, the National Taxpayers Union along and the teabaggers don’t like what went down. All I can think of is the Screamin’ Jay Hawkins song “There’s Something Wrong with You baby”.

No one’s voice should be suppressed in the land of the free. Freedom of speech really means political speech, not pornographic expression.
