Posted by Martin C. Fox on March 18, 2012

You have paid your mortgage faithfully for 20 or 30 years.  Maybe you even paid extra on the principle.  Now you invited friends over and had a mortgage burning bonfire.  You are home free.  Think again.   Maybe you get laid off or are on a bind and you try to squeeze a tax deduction where there isn’t one.  The property tax bill comes due and you decide the car payment takes precedence in order to keep your job.  You will find out who really owns your home.  Hint, hint.  It’s not you.  Eric Peters provides an explanation here.

George Washington said it best. “Government is not reason or eloquence. Government is force.”

Failure to comply with anything, however petty, that the government wants can lead to people with guns taking you to prison or killing you in the effort to do so.
