Prescription Drug Monitoring-Pharmacists Better Step Up

Posted by M. C. on July 20, 2014

It would in the pharmacists’ best interest to start tending their own store before the government screws them up more than they already have.

Deb Beck, president of the Drug and Alcohol Service Providers Organization of Pennsylvania and State Rep Joe Hackett plead the case for a prescription drug monitoring in PA in an Erie Times-News editorial.

They make the point that overdose deaths by controlled substances such as OxyContin, Vicodin and Benzodiazepines are a leading cause of death. We need to monitor drug dispensation more closely to watch who gets what and to prevent doctor shopping.

They may be onto something but wait! Is not the drug industry one of the most government regulated, dare I say strangled, industries in the world?

Could there be a connection between government drug control and the rampant misuse thereof?

The last thing we need is another bound to fail government program. Not to mention another massive data base of peoples’ private information that would be generated.

But wait again! The data base is already in existence, courtesy of your favorite pharmacist. I believe pharmacies already share information to some extent.

The world of science and engineering is ruled to a great extent in the West by The American Society of Mechanical Engineers. It is a large group of volunteer everyday people, one of whom may be living next door. They have developed rules and regulations for everything from plastic bottles to nuclear reactor design. Their word is law for regulatory agencies and insurance companies.

This is a self-ruling body that is held in high regard throughout the world. Needless to say it is not a government organization

In a similar fashion let the pharmacists step up. They tend to be smart people. They already have the information. Let their organization develop a way to put the information together and put it to constructive use.

The Center for Disease Control, CDC, has become a Progressive tool to gather information to control and monitoring to suit those in power. Note that yet again the CDC is encouraging doctors to gather information firearms in the home.

The last thing we need is another mal-used government data base.

Be seeing you

Just what we need more assholes trying to micro-manage our lives. Pharmacists are not anything special. Let me see……….If you can read you can do what a Pharmacist does, take drugs from a BIG bottle and put them in a SMALL bottle. What we need is a governmental department instructing us on how to wipe our butts. And if I can’t get it right then they should send out the Turd Police to put me in a choke hold. Then they can cover their tracks by stuffing my mouth with OxyContin. God bless America.
