Hunter Biden Admits He “Probably Wouldn’t” Have Got Ukrainian Board Seat Without VP Father Joe | Zero Hedge

Posted by M. C. on October 15, 2019

But mom, dad says everyone does it.

Yes son, but we democrats aren’t as good at hiding it.

https://www.zerohedge.com/political/hunter-biden-admits-he-would-probably-not-have-gotten-ukrainian-board-seat-without-vp

Hunter Biden has finally emerged from ‘hiding’ just four days after President Trump’s campaign had “Where’s Hunter” t-shirts.

In an interview with ABC News, the son of 2020 Democratic presidential candidate and former VP Joe Biden denied any wrongdoing in Ukraine and China, though he acknowledged that he exercised poor judgement in maintaining those associations.

“In retrospect, look, I think that it was poor judgment on my part,” said Hunter, adding “Is that I think that it was poor judgment because I don’t believe now when I look back on it — I know that there was — did nothing wrong at all. However, was it poor judgment to be in the middle of something that is a swamp in—in—in many ways? Yeah.”

“So I take full responsibility for that,” Biden then said. “Did I do anything improper? No, not in any way. Not in any way whatsoever. Did I make a mistake based upon some ethical lapse? Absolutely not.”

When pressed over his qualificiations to sit on various boards, Hunter admitted he would “probably not” have gotten them if he weren’t Joe Biden’s son, though he insisted that there was no impropriety.

Watch:

Meanwhile, from 2001 to 2005, Hunter received consulting fees from the MNBA corporation to work on ‘online banking issues’ while his father Joe was helping the credit card industry pass a law making it more difficult to file for bankruptcy protection.

Aides to Mr. Obama, who chose Mr. Biden as his vice-presidential running mate on Saturday, would not say how much the younger Mr. Biden, who works as both a lawyer and lobbyist in Washington, had received, though a company official had once described him as having a $100,000 a year retainer. –NYT

Washington Is Wrong Once Again – Kurds Join Assad To Defend Syria – Antiwar.com Original

Posted by M. C. on October 15, 2019

It was a colossally dumb idea to train and arm the Kurds in Syria in the first place, but after spending billions backing what turned out to be al-Qaeda affiliates in Syria to overthrow the Assad government, Washington found that the Kurds were the only willing boots remaining on the ground.

Now “our Kurdish allies” are fighting alongside the army of Syrian President Assad – who we are still told by US officials “must go.” Washington doesn’t understand that our intervention only makes matters worse. The best way to help the Kurds and everyone else in the region is to just come home.

https://original.antiwar.com/paul/2019/10/14/washington-is-wrong-once-again-kurds-join-assad-to-defend-syria/

When President Trump Tweeted last week that “it is time for us to get out of these ridiculous endless wars,” adding that the US would be withdrawing from Syria, Washington went into a panic. Suddenly Republicans, Democrats, the media, the think tanks, and the war industry all discovered and quickly became experts on “the Kurds,” who we were told were an “ally” being sent to their slaughter by an ignorant President Trump.

But it was all just another bipartisan ploy to keep the “forever war” gravy train rolling through the Beltway.

Interventionists will do anything to prevent US troops from ever coming home, and their favorite tactic is promoting “mission creep.” As President Trump Tweeted, we were told in 2014 by President Obama that the US military would go into Syria for just 30 days to save the Yazidi minority that they claimed were threatened. Then that mission crept into “we must fight ISIS” and so the US military continued to illegally occupy and bomb Syria for five more years.

Even though it was the Syrian army with its Russian and Iranian allies that did the bulk of the fighting against al-Qaeda and ISIS in Syria, President Trump took credit and called for the troops to come home. But when the military comes home, the military-industrial-Congressional-media complex loses its cash cow, so a new rationale had to be invented.

The latest “mission creep” was that we had to stay in Syria to save our “allies” the Kurds. All of a sudden our military presence in Syria was not about fighting terrorism but rather about putting US troops between our NATO ally Turkey and our proxy fighting force, the Kurds. Do they really want us to believe that it is “pro-American” for our troops to fight and die refereeing a long-standing dispute between the Turks and Kurds?

It was a colossally dumb idea to train and arm the Kurds in Syria in the first place, but after spending billions backing what turned out to be al-Qaeda affiliates in Syria to overthrow the Assad government, Washington found that the Kurds were the only willing boots remaining on the ground. While their interest in fighting ISIS was limited, they were happy to use Washington’s muscle in pursuit of their long-term goal of carving out a part of Syria (and eventually Turkey) for themselves.

We can never leave because there will be a slaughter, Washington claimed (and the media faithfully repeated). But once again, the politicians, the mainstream media, and the Beltway “experts” have been proven wrong. They never understand that sending US troops into another country without the proper authority is not a stabilizing factor, but a destabilizing factor. I have argued that were the US to leave Syria (and the rest of the Middle East) the countries of the region would find a way to solve their own problems.

Now that the US is pulling back from northern Syria, that is just what is happening.

On Sunday the Kurds and the Syrian government signed an agreement, brokered by the Russians, to put aside their differences and join together to defend against Turkey’s incursion into Syrian territory.

Now “our Kurdish allies” are fighting alongside the army of Syrian President Assad – who we are still told by US officials “must go.” Washington doesn’t understand that our intervention only makes matters worse. The best way to help the Kurds and everyone else in the region is to just come home.

Telling the Truth is a Crime

Posted by M. C. on October 15, 2019

https://drsircus.com/general/telling-the-truth-is-a-crime/

Sweden has the first feminist government in the world. This means that gender equality is central to the Government’s priorities – in decision-making and resource allocation. Or that is what they pretend. The reality is their policies have made Sweden the rape capital of the world. Feministic policies and decision making has led to a reality where almost a quarter of Swedish women are afraid to leave their homes over fears they will be attacked or sexually assaulted. After a string of four sexual assaults and rapes in the span of five nights, Swedish police in numerous cities advised women to not walk alone at night and to go home early.

Figures released last year found that 58 per cent of convicted rapists and 85 per cent of all convicted assault rapists in Sweden were born outside of Europe. In cases where the victim did not know the attacker, the proportion of foreign offenders was more than 80 per cent. Nearly 40 per cent of the convicted rapists are from the Middle East or from Africa, areas of the world from which Sweden has accepted large numbers of migrants in recent years. Ah, but that is raciest to say these things, better to hide the truth and pretend something else.

It is just like the movies but the bad guys are winning and the good guys are being hunted down yet many of the good guys are the bad guys. It is sickening to say that women politicians in Sweden are winning the race to destroy what was once a good country. With their perverted ideas of liberalism they are allowing their women and their country to be raped. Nice people, nice ideas. Some people just do not get it about the limited value of ideas and concepts so they create havoc…

France and the rest of Europe has, for years, been in a state of denial about the proliferation of radical Islam so they just pretend they are good guys and that we should give them money, housing, medical care and the chance to join ISIS or think and plan local acts of terrorism and rape. Soon in France, no one will dare to say that any attack openly inspired by Islam has any connection with Islam. It is pretty much that way all over Europe so hold your tongue or you might end up in jail …

Medical and Pharmaceutical Terrorism (Fascism) Is Alive and Well

In medicine things are really bad. One person wrote, “In the US you can get put in jail for helping or treating anyone (yes even your family), or even giving them information or directing them to Internet links that treat cancer without toxins. If you give a friend or family member some herbs or essential oils, nutrition advice etc you are ‘practising medicine without a license’ and that is serious indeed.” Another responded saying, “You can give information by not saying it will cure but is educational. This is done a thousand times a day in every natural foods store. It is done with a wink.” Medicine is not about truth it is about what they say it is whether helpful or not.

When republicans step up and shout this it the best economy we have ever had we have to wonder what hallucinogens they are taking. They think they are speaking truth and that’s enough to keep the herd from stampeding out of the system. But behind the scenes we read essays with titles like: Debt Market Suffering “Quiet Meltdown” As Billions In Loans Are Suddenly Crashing…

“The nation has been too preoccupied with political mud-wrestling to notice that the US debt has gone hockey-stick parabolic, racking up $814 billion just since August. Math majors may see that’s close to a trillion dollars, or 4 percent of the total $22,837 trillion, just in a few months. Zowie! (Hat tip Steve St. Angelo.) Parabolic trends don’t end well. In the meantime, the Federal Reserve, as usual, attempts to “fix” the problems caused by excessive bad faith borrowing with additional excessive bad faith lending in its overnight repo operations and revamped non-QE QE,” writes James Howard Kunstler.

“History doesn’t like vacuums anymore than nature does, and what we’re facing is a vacuum of authority that the USA has never experienced before. That’s the final consequence of a society in which anything goes and nothing matters. Better check what you believe and who you believe in the days ahead, and re-calibrate accordingly. This ain’t no fooling around,” concludes Kunstler.

Is the Interventionists’ Era Over for Good? – LewRockwell

Posted by M. C. on October 15, 2019

Today, the Middle East and world have been awakened to the reality that when Trump said he was ending everlasting commitments and bringing U.S. troops home from “endless wars,” he was not bluffing.

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2019/10/patrick-j-buchanan/is-the-interventionists-era-over-for-good/

By

President Donald Trump could have been more deft and diplomatic in how he engineered that immediate pullout from northeastern Syria.

Yet that withdrawal was as inevitable as were its consequences.

A thousand U.S. troops and their Kurdish allies were not going to dominate indefinitely the entire northeast quadrant of a country the size of Syria against the will of the Damascus regime and army.

Had the U.S. refused to vacate Syrian lands on Turkey’s demand, a fight would be inevitable, whether with Turkey, Damascus or both. And this nation would neither support nor sustain a new war with Turks or Syrians.

And whenever the Americans did leave, the Kurds, facing a far more powerful Turkey, were going to have to negotiate the best deal they could with Syria’s Bashar Assad.

Nor was President Recep Erdogan of Turkey going to allow Syrian Kurds to roost indefinitely just across his southern border, cheek by jowl with the Turkish Kurds of the PKK that Erdogan regards as a terrorist threat to the unity and survival of his country.

It was Russia that stepped in to broker the deal whereby the Kurds stood down and let the Syrian army take over their positions and defend Syria’s border regions against the Turks.

Some ISIS prisoners under Kurdish control have escaped.

But if the Syrian army takes custody of these prisoners from their Kurdish guards, those ISIS fighters and their families will suffer fates that these terrorists have invited.

Denunciation of Erdogan for invading Syria is almost universal. Congress is clamoring for sanctions. NATO allies are cutting off weapons sales. But before we act, some history should be revisited.

Turkey has been a NATO ally, a treaty ally, for almost seven decades. The Kurds are not. Turkish troops fought alongside us in Korea. Turkey hosted Jupiter missiles targeted on Russia in the Cold War, nuclear missiles we withdrew as our concession in the secret JFK-Khrushchev deal that ended the Cuban missile crisis.

The Turks accepted the U.S. weapons, and then accepted their removal.

The Turks have the second-largest army in NATO. They are a nation of 80 million, a bridge between Europe and the Middle East. They dominate the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus, the entrance to and exit from the Black Sea for all U.S. and Russian warships.

U.S. warplanes are based at Turkey’s Incirlik air base, as are 50 U.S. nuclear weapons. And Turkey harbors millions of refugees from the Syrian civil war, whom Erdogan keeps from crossing into Europe.

Moreover, Erdogan’s concern over the Syrian Kurdish combat veterans on his border should be understood by us. When Pancho Villa launched his murderous 1916 raid into Columbus, New Mexico, we sent General “Black Jack” Pershing with an army deep into Mexico to run him down.

With no allies left fighting on our side in Syria, the small U.S. military force there is likely to be withdrawn swiftly and fully…

Hence, it was stunning that the administration, at the end of last week, under fire from both parties in the House and Senate for “abandoning” the Kurds, announced the deployment of 1,500 to 3,000 troops to Saudi Arabia to bolster the kingdom’s defense against missile attacks.

The only explanation for the contradiction is Sen. Henry Ashurst’s maxim: “The clammy hand of consistency should never rest for long upon the shoulder of a statesman.”

Yet, this latest U.S. deployment notwithstanding, Saudi Arabia has got the message: Trump will sell them all the weapons they can buy, but no Saudi purchase ensures that the Yanks will come and fight their wars…

Undeniably, the decisions — not to retaliate against Iran for the attack on Riyadh’s oil facilities, and the decision to terminate abruptly the alliance with Syria’s Kurds — sent shock waves to the world.

Where the Americans spent much of the Cold War ruminating about an “agonizing reappraisal” of commitments to malingering allies, this time the Yanks may be deadly serious.

This time, the Americans may really be going home.

Every nation that today believes it has an implied or a treaty guarantee that the U.S. will fight on its behalf should probably recheck its hole card.

Expert: Hunter Biden Likely Still Has Millions in China-Backed Investment Fund

Posted by M. C. on October 14, 2019

If nothing else the current plethora of revelations shows that Trump is a relative newborn in the Swamp.

Russiagate is his to lose.

https://www.breitbart.com/politics/2019/10/13/expert-hunter-biden-likely-still-has-millions-in-china-backed-investment-fund/

by Charlie Spiering

Former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden announced Sunday that he was stepping down from his board position at BHR Equity Investment Fund Management, but he likely still has millions of dollars of value in the company.

Hunter Biden has a 10 percent stake in BHR, which he acquired through a company he created named Skaneateles LLC in 2017.

Although Hunter Biden’s lawyer has said that his client’s stake in the company is only valued at $420,000, a FactCheck.org analysis estimates it’s value to be millions.

“It is difficult to imagine, if not incomprehensible, that a 10% stake in those economics is worth only $420K,” Steven Kaplan of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business told FactCheck.org. “The distinction they appear to be making is they capitalized the management company with $4.2 M even if the fund manages $2 B. The value of that management company is likely far in excess of $4.2 M if they are managing $2 B.”

FactCheck.org cited Kaplan estimating that Hunter Biden’s share in the investment company could be valued at around $20 million and up to “hundreds of millions of dollars” over the investment lifetime.

Hunter Biden’s lawyer said that if Joe Biden won the race for president, he would agree “not to serve on boards of, or work on behalf of, foreign-owned companies,” but did not mention his current foreign investments in BHR.

President Donald Trump continues to target Hunter Biden’s foreign investments as corrupt, questioning Vice President Joe Biden’s knowledge of his son capitalizing on his father’s specific diplomacy with China and Ukraine on behalf of former President Barack Obama’s administration.

We’re in a permanent coup

Posted by M. C. on October 14, 2019

My discomfort in the last few years, first with Russiagate and now with
Ukrainegate and impeachment, stems from the belief that the people
pushing hardest for Trump’s early removal are more dangerous than Trump.
Many Americans don’t see this because they’re not used to waking up in a
country where you’re not sure who the president will be by nightfall.
They don’t understand that this predicament is worse than having a bad
president.

https://taibbi.substack.com/p/were-in-a-permanent-coup

Matt Taibbi

Americans might soon wish they just waited to vote their way out of the Trump era

I’ve lived through a few coups. They’re insane, random, and terrifying, like watching sports, except your political future depends on the score.

The kickoff begins when a key official decides to buck the executive. From that moment, government becomes a high-speed head-counting exercise. Who’s got the power plant, the airport, the police in the capital? How many department chiefs are answering their phones? Who’s writing tonight’s newscast?

When the KGB in 1991 tried to reassume control of the crumbling Soviet Union by placing Mikhail Gorbachev under arrest and attempting to seize Moscow, logistics ruled. Boris Yeltsin’s crew drove to the Russian White House in ordinary cars, beating KGB coup plotters who were trying to reach the seat of Russian government in armored vehicles. A key moment came when one of Yeltsin’s men, Alexander Rutskoi – who two years later would himself lead a coup against Yeltsin – prevailed upon a Major in a tank unit to defy KGB orders and turn on the “criminals.”

We have long been spared this madness in America. Our head-counting ceremony was Election Day. We did it once every four years.

That’s all over, in the Trump era.

On Thursday, news broke that two businessmen said to have “peddled supposedly explosive information about corruption involving Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden” were arrested at Dulles airport on “campaign finance violations.” The two figures are alleged to be bagmen bearing “dirt” on Democrats, solicited by Trump and his personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani.

Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman will be asked to give depositions to impeachment investigators. They’re reportedly going to refuse. Their lawyer John Dowd also says they will “refuse to appear before House Committees investigating President Donald Trump.” Fruman and Parnas meanwhile claim they had real derogatory information about Biden and other politicians, but “the U.S. government had shown little interest in receiving it through official channels.”

For Americans not familiar with the language of the Third World, that’s two contrasting denials of political legitimacy.

The men who are the proxies for Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani in this story are asserting that “official channels” have been corrupted. The forces backing impeachment, meanwhile, are telling us those same defendants are obstructing a lawful impeachment inquiry.

This latest incident, set against the impeachment mania and the reportedly “expanding” Russiagate investigation of U.S. Attorney John Durham, accelerates our timeline to chaos. We are speeding toward a situation when someone in one of these camps refuses to obey a major decree, arrest order, or court decision, at which point Americans will get to experience the joys of their political futures being decided by phone calls to generals and police chiefs.

My discomfort in the last few years, first with Russiagate and now with Ukrainegate and impeachment, stems from the belief that the people pushing hardest for Trump’s early removal are more dangerous than Trump. Many Americans don’t see this because they’re not used to waking up in a country where you’re not sure who the president will be by nightfall. They don’t understand that this predicament is worse than having a bad president.

The Trump presidency is the first to reveal a full-blown schism between the intelligence community and the White House. Senior figures in the CIA, NSA, FBI and other agencies made an open break from their would-be boss before Trump’s inauguration, commencing a public war of leaks that has not stopped.

The first big shot was fired in early January, 2017, via a CNN.com headline, “Intel chiefs presented Trump with claims of Russian efforts to compromise him.” This tale, about the January 7th presentation of former British spy Christopher Steele’s report to then-President-elect Trump, began as follows:…

Navy bans Satanists from holding ‘satanic services’ at the US Naval Academy after the group announced they were planning weekly meetings

  • An email sent to U.S. Naval Academy midshipmen on October 8 offered to hold ‘satanic religious services’ hosted by the Satanic Temple
  • The email offered to hold discussions of satanic philosophy, along with the ‘literary history of Satan’
  • A spokeswoman with the USNA asserted that it was shared prematurely, adding that the group originally asked to hold a ‘study group’
  • She added that the Satanic Temple represents ‘a non-theistic religious and politically active movement’
  • The military is forbidden from engaging in political activity

The email offered to hold discussions of satanic philosophy, along with the ‘literary history of Satan.’

According to the email, the aim of the services would be to ‘promote critical thinking and discussion on Satanic values as they pertain to our lives.’

And while the email was sent out on Tuesday with the expectation of starting meetings on Thursday, a spokeswoman with the USNA asserted that it was shared prematurely.

‘This email was sent without the review and approval of the Naval Academy’s Command Chaplain, as required by command policy,’ USNA spokeswoman Commander Alana Garas said in an email to Task and Purpose. ‘It did not represent the U.S. Naval Academy’s Command Religious Program.’ …

Here’s Why Hillary Is Running Again in 2020

Posted by M. C. on October 14, 2019

https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/07/heres_why_hillary_is_running_again_in_2020.html

By Joel Gilbert

That’s right: Hillary Clinton is running for president again in 2020.  She has actually ramped up her campaign since her defeat in 2016!  From her Twitter feed to university speeches to appearances abroad – from Ireland to Australia to India – the “I’m with her” campaign continues.  The message remains the same: Donald Trump is racist and sexist, and his supporters are deplorable.  Hillary also continues to preach that she won the 2016 popular vote by 3,000,000 votes, but because of the electoral college (that damn Constitution thing) and RussiaRussiaRussia, she was robbed of her rightful prize and place in history.

Her Path to the Nomination

Hillary has a highly plausible path to the Democratic Party nomination, something no other potential Democrat candidate for president can say.  In the primaries, Hillary Clinton’s name recognition and loyal voters would earn her an easy 25% of the vote, while the anti-Hillary vote would split among as many as ten other candidates at about 5-10% each.  This is not dissimilar to what Trump accomplished on the Republican side in 2016.  With a solid base of supporters, Trump was able to win primary after primary while the others split the vote.  Each time someone dropped out, Trump picked up about half of his supporters, with the other half disbursed among the other candidates.  This is a realistic path for Hillary to gain the Democrat nomination, and it is no doubt irresistible to her.

Hillary is the only potential Democrat with big money-raising potential and an existing fundraising mechanism.  That mechanism has been in place for 30 years!  Hillary also has as much as $1 billion in Clinton Foundation donations stashed away for just such a rainy day.  You didn’t really think all that Russian oligarch money was sent to hungry children in Haiti, did you?

Hillary knows that the MSM will not only not criticize her for running in 2020, but celebrate her campaign because “she has unfinished business.”  Hillary also knows that the MSM will repeat her talking points ad nauseam, as in “the 2016 election was stolen by the Russians” and “she’s doing this for women to break the glass ceiling” as they serve up $10 billion in free earned media.  In addition, MSM journalists want jobs in the Hillary Clinton administration and won’t risk her famous wrath if she wins.

The 2020 Campaign

Hillary knows that the Electoral College heavily favors Democrats, and that leftist organizers are already working hard in key swing states to register new voters to tip the small balance from 2016.  In addition, there is no doubt that Deep-State leftists will leak embarrassing info on Trump.  There are likely old “Access Hollywood”-style audio tapes hanging around, such as those actor Tom Arnold claims to be harboring that might harm Trump badly at the last minute.

Age will not be a factor for Hillary against Trump in 2020 because they are close to the same age.  Rather, Hillary’s 2020 age of 73 forces her to take a last shot at the Oval Office, because by 2024, the party will certainly reject her at age 77 in favor of a young ethnic candidate.

While she knows that defeating Trump might be an uphill battle, Hillary understands it’s critical to be in a position to easily take the White House in the event Trump doesn’t run in 2020.  She surmises that Trump might not be the Republican nominee in several scenarios, such as impeachment, a health issue, or if he just becomes sick and tired of the persecution of his friends by swamp investigations.

The DNC and the Democrat Establishment

As we learned from WikiLeaks in 2016, the DNC proved effective in quashing opposition to Hillary.  As Trump has said, “between superdelegates and the DNC, Bernie Sanders never stood a chance.” …
