The Hypocritical Double Standards of Political Outrage – The Future of Freedom Foundation

Posted by M. C. on July 9, 2019

“She was asked what she had learned from the Holocaust, and she said that 10 percent of any population is cruel, no matter what, and that 10 percent is merciful, no matter what, and that the remaining 80 percent could be moved in either direction.”—Kurt Vonnegut

Please spare me the media hysterics and the outrage and the hypocritical double standards of those whose moral conscience appears to be largely dictated by their political loyalties.

Anyone who believes that the injustices, cruelties and vicious callousness of the U.S. government are unique to the Trump Administration has not been paying attention.

No matter what the team colors might be at any given moment, the playbook remains the same. The leopard has not changed its spots. Scrape off the surface layers and you will find that the American police state that is continuing to wreak havoc on the rights of the people under the Trump Administration is the same police state that wreaked havoc on the rights of the people under every previous administration.

Brace yourselves.

While we squabble over which side is winning this losing battle, a tsunami approaches.

Case in point: in Charlottesville, Va.—home of Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independence, champion of the Bill of Rights, and the nation’s third president—city councilors in a quest for so-called “equity” have proposed eliminating Jefferson’s birthday as a city holiday (which has been on the books since 1945) and replacing it with a day that commemorates the liberation of area slaves following the arrival of Union troops under Gen. Philip Sheridan.

In this way, while the populace wages war over past injustices, injustice in the here and now continues to trample innocent lives underfoot. In Charlottesville, as in the rest of the country, little is being done to stem the tide of the institutional racism that has resulted in disproportionate numbers of black Americans being stopped, frisked, shot at, arrested and jailed.

Just recently, in fact, Phoenix police drew their guns, shouted profanities, assaulted and threatened to shoot a black couple whose 4-year-old daughter allegedly stole a doll from a dollar store. The footage of the incident—in which the cops threaten to shoot the pregnant, young mother in the head in the presence of the couple’s 1- and 4-year-old daughters—is horrifying in every way.

Tell me again why it’s more important to spend valuable political capital debating the birthdays of dead presidents rather than proactively working to put a stop to a government mindset that teaches cops it’s okay to treat citizens of any color with brutality and a blatant disregard for their rights?

It doesn’t matter that Phoenix and Charlottesville are 2100 miles apart. The lethal practices of the American police state are the same all over…

Mind you, by “government,” I’m not referring to the highly partisan, two-party bureaucracy of the Republicans and Democrats. Rather, I’m referring to “government” with a capital “G,” the entrenched Deep State that is unaffected by elections, unaltered by populist movements, and has set itself beyond the reach of the law.

This is the hidden face of a government that has no respect for the freedoms of its citizenry.

So stop with all of the excuses and the hedging and the finger-pointing and the pissing contests to see which side can out-shout, out-blame and out-spew the other. Enough already with the short- and long-term amnesia that allows political sycophants to conveniently forget the duplicity, complicity and mendacity of their own party while casting blame on everyone else.

This is how evil wins.

This is how freedom falls and tyranny rises…

Life is good in America as long as you’ve got enough money to spare that you don’t mind being made to pay through the nose for the government’s endless wars, subsidization of foreign nations, military empire, welfare state, roads to nowhere, bloated workforce, secret agencies, fusion centers, private prisons, biometric databases, invasive technologies, arsenal of weapons, and every other budgetary line item that is contributing to the fast-growing wealth of the corporate elite at the expense of those who are barely making ends meet—that is, we the 99%.

Life is good in America for the privileged few, but as I make clear in my book Battlefield America: The War on the American People, it’s getting worse by the day for the rest of us.

Bolton Demands Iran Abandon Non-Existent Nuclear Arms Program – News From Antiwar.com

Posted by M. C. on July 9, 2019

https://news.antiwar.com/2019/07/08/bolton-demands-iran-abandon-non-existent-nuclear-arms-program/

US officials are continuing to express demands that Iran get rid of its nuclear weapons program. This is a long-standing demand, and Iran is well aware of it. The problem is Iran doesn’t have such a program, and has repeatedly disavowed ever having a program in the future.

They might as well not bother to have spent the last 16 years disavowing arms, with hawkish John Bolton clearly acting like it never happened, saying the US is determined to “increase the pressure on the Iranian regime until it abandons its nuclear weapons program.”…

US officials have been reiterating the idea of an Iranian “nuclear threat” so long, and against all reason, that at this point the facts don’t matter for most US officials. Policy is to escalate sanctions, and the escalation has become an end unto itself…

This puts Iran in a tough position with the US, because it plainly doesn’t matter what Iran promises, what Iran does, or what Iranian leaders declare as religiously forbidden. The US will always lead with the same nonsensical demand, and US officials will always feel justified with threatening Iran over plain lies.

So Let’s Ban Marijuana – LewRockwell

Posted by M. C. on July 9, 2019

Lawrence Vance again! I wish he wasn’t such a namby pamby.

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2019/07/laurence-m-vance/so-lets-ban-marijuana/

By

…

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a total of 2,813,503 Americans died in 2017 (the latest year for which figures are available).

  • Heart disease killed 647,457 people.
  • Cancer killed 599,108 people.
  • Accidents killed 169,936 people.
  • Chronic lower respiratory diseases killed 160,201 people.
  • Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases) killed 146,383 people.
  • Alzheimer’s disease killed 121,404 people.
  • Diabetes killed 83,564 people.
  • Influenza and Pneumonia killed 55,672 people.
  • Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis killed 50,633 people.
  • Intentional self-harm (suicide) killed 47,173 people.
  • Unintentional falls killed 36,338 people.
  • Motor vehicle traffic accidents killed 40,231 people.
  • Unintentional poisoning deaths killed 64,795 people.
  • Firearms killed 39,773 people.

So let’s ban marijuana, which, according to the federal government’s own Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), no one has ever overdosed from using.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), there were a total of 5,147 fatal work injuries recorded in the United States in 2017 (the latest year for which figures are available).

  • Falls killed 887 workers.
  • Transportation incidents killed 2,077 workers.
  • Cranes killed 33 workers.
  • Confined spaces killed 166 workers.
  • Contact with objects and equipment killed 695 workers.
  • Unintentional overdoses due to nonmedical use of drugs or alcohol killed 272 workers.
  • Fires and explosions killed 123 workers.
  • Guns killed 351 workers.
  • Knives and sharp objects killed 47 workers.
  • There were 91 roofers killed at work.
  • There were 258 farmers and ranchers killed at work.
  • There were 30 refuse collectors killed at work.
  • There were 112 miners and oil and gas extractors killed at work.
  • There were 258 farmers and ranchers killed at work.
  • There were 59 aircraft pilots and flight engineers killed at work.
  • There were 41 fishermen killed at work.
  • There were 14 iron and steel workers killed at work.
  • There were 26 power-line installers and repairers killed at work.
  • There were 244 goundskeepers killed at work.
  • There were 55 loggers killed at work.

So let’s ban marijuana, which, according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), no one has ever died from using.

According to the CDC:

  • Cigarette smoking is responsible for more than 480,000 deaths per year in the United States.
  • Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

So let’s ban marijuana and keep tobacco—one of the deadliest substances known to man—legal.

According to the CDC:

  • Excessive alcohol use led to approximately 88,000 deaths and 2.5 million years of potential life lost (YPLL) each year in the United States from 2006 – 2010, shortening the lives of those who died by an average of 30 years.
  • Excessive drinking was responsible for 1 in 10 deaths among working-age adults aged 20-64 years.

So let’s ban marijuana and allow people to buy and consume as much alcohol as they can, even if it will kill them.

According to the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), 6,227 pedestrians were killed on U.S. roads in 2018.

So let’s ban marijuana and spend billions to enforce the ban instead of investing in making it safer for pedestrians to cross the street.

The war on marijuana is not only ludicrous, it is unreasonable, irrational, and illogical.

Camera-Shy Antifa Hits Washington D.C. | The American Conservative

Posted by M. C. on July 9, 2019

The media notification sheet concludes: “Members of the media who refuse to comply with these reasonable guidelines will be removed from the [safe space] permitted protest area.”  Perhaps after they are attacked with lead pipes and left with brain damage, as Antifa recently brutalized journalist Andy Ngo in Portland, Oregon?

https://www.theamericanconservative.com/articles/camera-shy-antifa-hits-washington-d-c/

By James Bovard

Washington’s Pennsylvania Avenue saw two competing protests near the White House on Saturday—a Proud Boys’ “Demand Free Speech”  rally, and a left-wing counter-protest organized by #AllOutDC which promoted the immediate expulsion of all accused Nazis, Alt-Right, and White Supremacists from the nation’s capital.

I slipped into the latter protest and took some close-up photos of black-drabbed Antifa activists gathered there to ostensibly lend a hand. After I posted a few photos online,  I saw a copy of the notice that AllOutDC organizers distributed warning the media not to photograph the faces of the left-wing demonstrators without “their explicit, stated consent.”

Mea Culpa! At least I didn’t violate the first rule of furtive photography: make sure the durn flash does not inadvertently go off.  (I also took quirky photos of the right-wing rally, including an unusual number of pro-Roger Stone t-shirts and a “Bikers for Trump” dude holding a giant “End the Bolshevik Media Monopoly” sign, but I saw no micro-managing of the media there.)

Shortly after I left the protests, Antifa demonstrators tried to attack the conservative protestors but the D.C. police easily swatted them away. No wonder AllOutDC’s sheet warned the media: “Be aware that photographs or videos can be used as evidence in court. Please avoid publishing any potentially incriminating photographs or video footage.” Such as the Washington Post photos of Antifa zealots dragging that arch-symbol of fascism, newspaper vending machines, into the street before they were routed by D.C. cops. That media notice could be helpful if prosecutors wanted to prove that Antifa violence was premeditated. (D.C. police did an excellent job of minimizing clashes at the demonstrations.)

Antifa outfits always make me think of Cirque du Soleil rejects. Or maybe their attire was inspired by overdosing on Batman re-runs. The media warning sheet also declared: “Please ensure that you have explicit consent before capturing auto recordings or directly quoting interviewees.” (Emphasis mine). Were they worried that someone might capture the sounds of the Batmobile, or what? They meant “audio” but were perhaps too distraught by Trump’s July 4th military-themed speech to proofread.

Or when Antifa activists knocked Washington Examiner journalist Julio Rosas’s phone out of his hand on Saturday?  Or when Antifa attacked journalists in Washington after the counter-protest to the “Unite the Right” micro-rally in Lafayette Park? Or when Antifa attacked the police and the media last August in Charlottesville?…

Antifa and any other group should be allowed to publicly denounce President Trump as a fascist, tyrant, or serial golf score cheater.  But if the entire nation becomes like Portland, tacitly permitting masked Antifa attackers to maim who they please, American democracy is doomed.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak says you should get off Facebook | Daily Mail Online

Posted by M. C. on July 9, 2019

While you may not be able to stop it entirely, there are ways the average person can clamp down on their personal data – including getting rid of Facebook.

When asked if Facebook and Instagram users should delete their accounts, Wozniak said most would be smart to do so.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-7225593/Apple-founder-Steve-Wozniak-says-Facebook.html

By Cheyenne Macdonald For Dailymail.com

Steve Wozniak is the latest high-profile naysayer to speak out against Facebook.

The Apple co-founder, who deleted his own Facebook profile last year, told TMZ recently that he recommends most people ‘figure out a way to get off’ the site due to ongoing privacy concerns.

Wozniak warned that people often assume they have much more privacy online than they really do, and said he’s now ‘worried about everything’ when it comes to potential eavesdropping and data sharing.

TMZ ran into Wozniak at Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C. last week and asked him if we should be worried that our devices are listening to us.

And according to Wozniak, the answer is yes.

‘I’m worried about everything,’ Wozniak said. ‘I don’t think you can stop it, though.

‘Who knows if my cell phone is listening right now? Alexa has already been in the news a lot.’

The prevalence of connected devices today means your conversations might not be as private as you think they are, Wozniak said.

‘There’s almost no way to stop it,’ he added. ‘People think they have a level of privacy that they don’t.

‘Why don’t they give me a choice? Let me pay a certain amount and you’ll keep my data more secure and private than everyone else handing it to advertisers.’…

Antifa – LewRockwell

Posted by M. C. on July 9, 2019

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2019/07/no_author/antifa-behind-the-black-mask/

By Chas Holloway

I’m watching the latest Antifa protest on YouTube.  The mob is mocking and pummeling a meek, conservative reporter.  It looks like great fun.

So, why is a fascist mob claiming to be “anti-fascist?”  What’s their main malfunction?  Can’t they see the contradiction?  If you’re asking this question — and many outraged people are — you’re missing what is really going on.

Ask this, instead:

Do these “protesters” even know what fascism is?  No, how could they?  They are in their twenties.  Fascism is just a media image.  A legend.  An ancient myth of something that happened more than a half-century before they were born.  You might as well invoke Pancho Villa’s raiders or the Athenian League, for all they know.

Do they care what fascism is?  No.  They’ve simply found a way to annoy adults and have a wild party.  This is nothing new.  The 1980s had raves.  The 1960s had the Hells Angels.  The 1920s had the Ku Klux Klan.  Antifa is just the latest shocking violent party craze.  Now, they wear black masks.

Antifa is a savage bash.  Nothing deeper.  Rage against “fascism” is just an excuse.  The media gives them coverage, foams at the mouth, and that makes it even more fun.  They watch themselves on TV and feel accomplishment: “Hey, that’s us!”

Is Antifa dangerous to society?  Yes.  Because behind the scenes, unknown to the Antifa protesters, are the organizers.  The operatives, who put up the Antifa web pages.  Who schedule events.  Create slogans.  Show up at protests with a van full of black masks and printed banners and signs.

They are hard core socialists, and they don’t want the party goers to understand what fascism is.  In fact, the more ignorant they are, the better.  It keeps things malleable.  The organizers can change what “fascism” means, whenever they want.  The fascist can be Joe Biden.  Or Trump.  Or the idea of America, itself.

The “protesters,” themselves, only think in bumper sticker slogans.  And they only care about the rush of action — so, they are tools…

Trump’s “Salute to America” Is a Salute to Government Employees | Mises Institute

Posted by M. C. on July 8, 2019

Slavish displays of patriotism and loyalty to the state are inimical to the real meaning of the holiday.

https://mises.org/power-market/trumps-salute-america-salute-government-employees

Ryan McMaken

…More observant readers will note, of course, that the event is not a salute to “America” at all. It is a salute to the Pentagon. According to the presdient, the purpose of the event is “showing to the American people, among other things, the strongest and most advanced Military anywhere in the World. Incredible Flyovers & biggest ever Fireworks!”

Were the event actually a salute to America, it would celebrate the private sector and all the taxpayers who are forced to pay more than $5,000 per year, per taxpayer, just to fund the Pentagon and its related agencies.1

Rather than a grotesque display of military hardware — such as the trillion-dollar boondoggle known as the F-35 — the “Salute” would line up tractor trailer trucks and commercial airliners to be admired by the people who benefit daily from the goods and services made possible by them. Meanwhile, the Salute would honor the truck drivers, airline pilots, insurance brokers, and janitors who produce all the wealth that is eventually skimmed by tax collectors to pay for — among other things — giant DC government parties…

At the Salute, government employees would be allowed to express their admiration to these productive taxpayers, with phrases such as:

Of course, if the president and members of Congress want to pay for a fireworks display out of their own pockets to show their thanks to the people who pay the bills, that would be fine…

Independence Day should be a celebration against government and a reminder that Americans can once again walk away from tyranny, even if force of arms is required.

This does not defame or insult the American troops, but rather reminds us that we are a civilian nation and the government, and its troops, are supposed to be our servants rather than our masters. Slavish displays of patriotism and loyalty to the state are inimical to the real meaning of the holiday.

If Americans really wanted to celebrate the spirit of the Declaration, they’d demand a parade of smugglers, tax cheats, and secessionists. But then again, those people are usually busy working for a living, and it might be hard to get them to show up. Government employees, on the other hand, have plenty of spare time for yet another salute to themselves.

We are sock puppets.

https://www.haaretz.com/misc/article-print-page/.premium-th-u-s-ambassador-to-israel-s-flimsy-cardboard-wall-1.7449319

Zehava Galon

The coupling between the Trump administration and the Netanyahu government has created some iconic, unforgettable pictures. But none can compete with the messianic radiance on the face of the U.S. ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, when he was breaking down a fake wall with a sledgehammer in the tunnels under Jerusalem’s Silwan neighborhood.

That picture was more powerful than a thousand conferences in Bahrain. I’ve met tourists who’ve come down with Jerusalem Syndrome; they weren’t dangerous, but no one thought to make them an ambassador.

In response to the criticism, Friedman tweeted: “Fake News: ‘Friedman uses sledgehammer to destroy wall under Palestinian homes.’ Real News: ‘Friedman uses sledgehammer to break ceremonial cardboard wall to open once-in-a-century archeological discovery.’”

With someone else, a cardboard wall with photographers waiting behind it would have raised suspicions that this path had been opened before – but not with Friedman. Maybe he didn’t know that the place had already been inaugurated a year ago, and maybe it wasn’t important to him.

In any case, this engineered picture, planned down to the last detail, is the problem. The sledgehammer that Friedman hoisted didn’t blaze a path to any archaeological discovery, it just hammered another nail into the coffin of Donald Trump’s “deal of the century.”

The small hammer ceremony was only meant to produce a ridiculous video, and it’s another small gamble with the blood of the people who live here. But the U.S. administration doesn’t think that way. In an interview with the Walla news website, U.S. special envoy Jason Greenblatt said: “Not dealing with history, or in some cases falsifying history, has never helped the peace process.” This was for peace, idiots…

A Personal Declaration of Independence – The Organic Prepper

Posted by M. C. on July 8, 2019

As Albert Camus, a French philosopher and author said, “The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.”

https://www.theorganicprepper.com/personal-declaration-of-independence/

Some time between throwing some burgers on the grill and shooting off fireworks with a beer in one hand and a lighter in the other, ask yourself this question:

How free and independent are you?

How independent are any of us, really? We like to think we live in the “free-est” nation in the world, but do we really?  Think about it.

  • You never own your home outright, even when the mortgage is paid off. Every year, you must make your extortion payment to the city or trust me, you won’t be living in that house for long.
  • The same thing with your car. If you don’t pay your annual extortion payment on your vehicle and pay a hundred bucks for a tiny sticker that gives you permission to drive it, it will be promptly towed away by the city with the government’s blessing. Then, like a hostage negotiation gone wrong, you’ll have to pay even more money to cover their theft and storage of YOUR vehicle.
  • On a regular basis, you must pay a fee and ask the government for permission to do any number of things, such as driving a car, traveling outside the country, running a business, adding another bathroom to your home, or even catching a fish for dinner.
  • Permits and licenses are big revenue generators from start to finish – and if you proceed without asking permission, they will extort more money from you in the form of fines. If you refuse to pay the fines (or if you can’t) they’ll kidnap you and lock you in a cage, where you’ll be forced to perform manual labor for 10 cents an hour for whatever length of time the legal authorities feel is sufficient to teach you a lesson.
  • There are places in our nation where you can’t use your property the way you want. There are areas where you cannot collect the water that falls on your land. There are places where you aren’t allowed to detach your home from the grid. There are places that dictate where your vegetable garden can grow (or even if you’re allowed to have one), places that won’t allow you to hang your clothes out to dry, and places that make it illegal to sleep in your car.

The bottom line is, some places in the United States are freer than others, but we’re all still serfs paying fealty to lords…

As well, the supposed watchdog entities, like the Food and Drug Administration, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the United States Department of Agriculture are populated and led by those who have been hand-picked to support corporations, no matter what the detriment to the American people whom they pretend to protect. If Congress was like Nascar, the members would have to wear uniforms emblazoned with their sponsors. However, Washington DC does not have the transparency of professional car racing, so we must guess at the sponsors of our “representatives.”…

But some of us have seen the corporate government for what it is: a bully that reigns through fear of reprisal and grievous harm. They hold over us these fears:

  • We will die if we don’t eat things that were inspected and approved by them.
  • We will be jailed, fined, or have our children taken from us if we don’t toe the line, vaccinate them as ordered, medicate them as recommended.
  • We are unable to figure things out for ourselves because we are not “experts” and therefore we must suppress our own judgments and bow to their far greater knowledge.
  • We will die if we don’t follow their expert health and nutrition advice.
  • We’ll be murdered by scary foreign terrorists if we don’t allow the TSA to fondle our private parts and perform x-rays that show us naked before we fly.

Some people fear these things and believe these tales so thoroughly, they allow the government to enforce ridiculous, unconstitutional laws “for our own safety.” They say, “Better that I give up my rights as a human being and save the world from a terrorist.”…

You have a natural human right to be free.

A Complete List of Alternatives To The Google Search Engine – Collective Evolution

Posted by M. C. on July 8, 2019

https://www.collective-evolution.com/2019/07/07/news-a-complete-list-of-alternatives-to-the-google-search-engine/

In Brief

  • The Facts:Using Google as a search engine is no longer giving you access to unedited truth. As admitted by Google exec Jen Gennai, you will sew what Google wants you to see.
  • Reflect On:Is it time to swap search engines and give yourself access to a wider perspective? How much will this affect what you think is true or real in our world? How might this completely change the decisions you make in your life?

We are living in a very interesting time, one in where we have a ‘ministry of truth’ that is quite Orwellian. This ministry of truth is deciding what’s real and what’s not for people, and they hold a tremendous amount of power and resources. Google is part of this ministry, and they are playing their part in censoring, demonetizing, and hiding information and platforms that does not suit the plans, agendas and the wants of the people that run Google and who are tied to.

One of the most recent examples I wrote about was with regards to one of the top natural health/health awareness websites in the world, Mercola.com. They like many others including Collective Evolution, have been censored by Google as well as their other social media platforms for simply sharing information. No matter how solid the evidence or sources are, it’s simply being censored because of what the information implies and because of the consequences it may have for those in power, and whose powerful interests that information may threaten.

Have we really got to the point where simple information can be censored just because it is threatening? Why do we have to have global elitists determining what is real and what is fake for the population? Is the population not capable of doing this on their own? Who are these ‘fact checkers?’…

Alternatives To Google & Why

All this said, when you search for things on Google, you will see what Google wants you to see, and it WILL shape the narrative by which you see your world. It will also push you to search for certain things over others.

Here is a great example. When you type in “vaccines cause a”, nowhere in the list do you see autism, even though that is one of the most searched terms on the subject. Instead, you see a very different list, see below.

Another great example would be anyone trying to search about the Hillary Clinton email scandal.

If you type in “hillary clinton email” you get no suggestions at all

But if you tested that against “donald trump email” you get normal suggestions.

As per an admission from Google executive Jen Gennai, this is because Google is trying to draw a line in the sand and tell people what’s right and what’s wrong in our world. You can learn more about her statements here...

Here are ten alternatives to Google search:

  • StartPage – StartPage gives you Google search results, but without the tracking (based in the Netherlands).
  • Searx – A privacy-friendly and versatile metasearch engine that’s also open source.
  • MetaGer – An open source metasearch engine with good features, based in Germany.
  • SwissCows – A zero-tracking private search engine based in Switzerland, hosted on secure Swiss infrastructure.
  • Qwant – A private search engine based in France.
  • DuckDuckGo – A private search engine based in the US.
  • Mojeek – The only true search engine (rather than metasearch engine) that has its own crawler and index (based in the UK).
  • YaCy – A decentralized, open source, peer-to-peer search engine.
  • Givero – Based in Denmark, Givero offers more privacy than Google and combines search with charitable donations.
  • Ecosia – Ecosia is based in Germany and donates a part of revenues to planting trees….
