US government shuts down military lab studying Ebola and the plague over safety fears | Daily Mail Online

Too bad the government wasn’t so concerned about Plum Island or Kenema hospital in the Congo.

  • Scientists at Fort Detrick, Maryland, study Ebola, the plague, and rabbit fever
  • The CDC issued a cease-and-desist notice last month citing a number of safety concerns
  • They said decontamination practices are not sufficient, and staff are not being retrained often enough

The US government has shut down all research at the nation’s top biological warfare lab amid fears deadly microbes could leak into the water supply.

Scientists at Fort Detrick, Maryland, study Ebola, the plague (caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis) and rabbit fever (caused by the bacterium tularemia).

But last month US health officials from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sent a cease-and-desist order citing concerns that the lab does not have ‘sufficient systems in place to decontaminate wastewater.’

Caree Vander Linden, spokesperson for the center, said research is ‘on hold’ and may be suspended for months.

It comes just weeks after uproar over a new book on Lyme disease, Bitten, which suggested the tick-borne illness, now plaguing the US, was unwittingly unleashed on Americans by biological warfare researchers at Fort Detrick decades ago.

The cease-and-desist notice automatically terminated the center’s registration with the Federal Select Agent Program, which grants special permission for the study and possession disease-causing materials.

In order to get re-approved, the center will have to improve its decontamination processes.

Regulators also took issue with the lack of periodic re-training of staff who are handling the dangerous bacteria…

5 Reasons We Need to Pay Attention to Ebola – The Organic Prepper

Posted by M. C. on June 14, 2019

by Daisy Luther

People like to think of Ebola as a disease that only strikes superstitious locals in the deepest jungles of the Democratic Republic of Congo. But just like the last time the disease made it to our shores, there are warning signs and it’s time to start paying attention.

There are several events in the news that when looked at together, lead to concerns we could be looking at a replay of 2014…

1) The DRC is in the midst of the second largest Ebola outbreak in history.

According to the World Health Organization, confirmed cases of Ebola have exceeded 2000 in the DRC. This makes it the second-largest outbreak in history, after the 2014-2016 epidemic…

2) Ebola is no longer contained within the DRC

Today it was reported that Ebola has hopped the border into Uganda, where today, a young patient died. The five-year-old deceased has two relatives who have also tested positive…

3) The Department of Border Patrol just apprehended a large group of people from Africa

In a press release, the Border Patrol announced on May 31 that they had apprehended 116 people from Africa trying to cross the Mexican/US border…

4) And these aren’t the only people from the DRC coming into the United States through Mexico.

Border Patrol says that there’s an uptick of migrants from this part of the world entering the United States through the Southern border…

5) The medical screening process is overwhelmed

Another concern is the quick screening process performed by physicians at the border. There has been a massive influx of immigrants crossing through from Mexico into the United States and the system is overwhelmed…

The stage is being set for what could be a catastrophe of epic proportion. Here’s what you need to know to prep for a potential Ebola outbreak in the United States and here’s a detailed book about prepping for a variety of pandemics. Here’s more information about how Ebola is transmitted.

The United States dodged the bullet last time Ebola cast its shadow here. Will we get that lucky again?

U.S. Cities Overwhelmed With Numbers of Illegal Migrants Arriving From Ebola-Stricken Countries

Posted by M. C. on June 12, 2019

It is saying something when the LA Times headlines “Crisis”.

Things are not looking good for the good ol’ US of A.

It is not just the flood of unskilled people that taxPAYERS must support that is the worry.

When Europeans first came to America it was immune-deficiency that killed most “Native Americans”.

Guess who are the new “Native Americans”.

How many vaccines do you think are available in the US for diseases we haven’t seen for 70 years? We can’t even get a flu vaccine that is more the 20% effective.

UPDATE: Migrants From Ebola-Stricken Congo Marched Through Streets of San AntonioSome U.S. cities are becoming overwhelmed with the number of illegal African migrants arriving from Ebola-stricken countries, with Portland, Maine, complaining that they are beyond capacity.

Large groups of migrants are arriving from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which has been hit by one of the biggest ebola outbreaks in history, with 2,000 recorded cases in the last 10 months.

Border Patrol officials said that 500 people from African countries had been arrested by Border Patrol’s Del Rio Sector in Texas alone in the six days after May 30.

Hundreds of the migrants are being sent to a city-owned shelter in San Francisco.

According to Interim Assistant City Manager Dr. Colleen Bridger, officials were not informed by Border Patrol that the migrants were on their way.

The migrants are then being transported to other areas of the United States, including Portland, Maine, where officials complained they were incapable of processing any more.

“The plan was 350 of them would travel from San Antonio to Portland. When we reached out to Portland Maine they said, ‘Please don’t send us any more. We’re already stretched way beyond our capacity,” Bridger said. “So we’re working with them [the migrants] now to identify other cities throughout the United States where they can go and begin their asylum seeking process.”

Residents of San Antonio expressed concerns about the arrival of the migrants, some of whom were being housed in a nearby church.

The charity Catholic Charities of San Antonio is helping to fund the transportation of the migrants to other areas of the country.

“We’re looking at roughly $14,000 a week on bus tickets alone,” the group’s spokesperson, Christina Higgs, told KENS 5. “We’ve been asked several times if we’re worried if the money will run out and we are. It’s obviously a finite resource.”

Meanwhile, Dr Michael Ryan, the executive director of the WHO’s health emergencies program, told BBC News that the global spread of deadly diseases is becoming “a new normal” thanks to “large and highly mobile populations”.

‘First large group’ from AFRICA wades across Rio Grande into US

There is typhoid in LA. Is Ebola next?

VIDEO: ‘First large group’ from AFRICA wades across Rio Grande into US

By Kyle Olson

A group of illegals from Angola, Cameroon and Congo waded across the Rio Grande River and into the United States, video from Customs and Border Protection shows.

The video shows male and female adults walking through the water and into Texas, several with children on their shoulders.

The attempted invasion occurred on Thursday, according to the agency.

The river — or “natural barrier” — was so shallow, the surface didn’t reach the adults’ waists.

The White House tweeted additional video:

According to CBP, it’s the first large group from Africa to try to breach the U.S. border via Mexico…

One Good Thing About Ebola-It Exposed The DHS

Posted by M. C. on October 21, 2014

The Department of Homeland Security was created in 2003 by former PA governor “two-face” Tom Ridge.

Cost as of 2011 runs to $645B.

Presumably that includes cost overruns.

This DHS is supposed to protect us against attack in all its forms including biological. Instead Washington has concentrated its efforts on preventing exposure of failure to you and me.

Big brother can find a telephone call we made five years ago or reserve us a FEMA camp cell but can’t deal with one victim of a communicable disease. Read the rest of this entry »

Why Are We Sending Ebola Patients To The US?

Posted by M. C. on October 13, 2014

We are sending up to 4000 US troops to Africa to build treatment centers primarily for health care workers. When the inevitable Ebola cases start showing up among the troops will they be sent home for treatment? How many non-symptomatic carriers will be sent home only to spread the disease in the US?

We have had an infectious disease research center in Sierra Leone since at least 2006. Why are we so in the dark?

The conflicting stories on how ebola is spread tells me we don’t know all the transmission vectors. It is obvious we are scrambling, know little about what we are dealing with and are shooting from the hip. Read the rest of this entry »

What the Hell am I Talking About? Ebola or ISIS? I Can’t Remember.

Posted by M. C. on September 19, 2014

We will send as many 100 “advisers”, no make that 300, no 1000+ to fight the enemy.

The “advisors” are fully armed and accompany the locals to fight the enemy. But they will magically steer clear of the fighting. We will not mention the “specialists” nor the inevitable CIA presence.

The enemy can mutate into an unrecognizable form in an instant leaving us at a complete loss as how to fight it. Not that we knew how to fight it to begin with.

What DOES the enemy look like today?

We will no doubt end up helping to feed and spread the enemy even as we are battling it. Our lack of knowledge of even the most elementary aspects of the enemy will result in an epidemic of collateral damage and innocent lives lost. Read the rest of this entry »

Ebola- Another US Government Success Story?

Posted by M. C. on August 13, 2014

Remember the anthrax mailings to some Senators in 2001? After much prodding the government finally admitted the bugs came from the Army’s Ames Research Center.

Researcher Bruce Ivins was accused but no one really believes it was him. Ivins couldn’t take the pressure and pulled his own plug. The FBI pulled out and declared victory.

Then there is Plum Island. This facility near Lyme CT was started to help combat contagious animal disease such as hoof and mouth. It is now a restricted access biological disaster area. There have been past reports of disfigured animals washing up on nearby shores. Read the rest of this entry »
