In my mind Whitney Webb is one of the best investigative journalists on the web and does meticulous research on the topics she focuses on. In the video above, Marty Bent of the TFTC Bitcoin podcast interviews her about how the central bankers plan to use artificial intelligence (AI) to control the lives of everyone on earth.

This is one of the most shocking and concerning interviews I have heard in a long time as it has a dismal prediction as to how it is likely we may have only a year at best and maybe half a year to enjoy the internet as we know it now. Even though it is heavily censored it is still usable. This basic functionality may disappear if her predictions are accurate.

Divide and Conquer

As noted by Webb, the string-pullers always seek to divide people using emotional appeals, and this situation is a classic case of that. Are you with Hamas, or with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF)? It’s a false choice. The side we should be on is the side of innocent civilians, regardless of where they live. “We should just step off the chessboard and stop playing their game,” she says.

Indeed, only by being against war will we stand against the correct enemy because, ultimately, most if not all wars are fought for the benefit of central bankers and their globalist allies, not for the benefit of nations, humanitarian or democratic causes. As noted by Webb:

“Half the population of Gaza are children under the age of 18 [i.e., below voting age and did not vote Hamas into power], so promoting the carpet bombing of that [area] and the refusal to let humanitarian aid in … there’s no celebrating that.”

Webb also points out there’s virtually no chance the Israeli forces did not see the October 7, 2023, attack coming. “It’s just absurd that they wouldn’t have been able to know that was going to happen in advance,” Webb says, “and there are IDF veterans and Israelis that definitely are no friends of Palestine or Hamas that are saying that’s the case.”

‘Israel’s 9/11’

Israel referring to that attack as “Israel’s 9/11” could be another tipoff.

“If you’re familiar with the realities of 9/11, there’s only a few possibilities there. Either it was intentionally done by intelligence agencies, or it was allowed to happen by intelligence agencies,” Webb says.

“So, I think we can assume that similar possibilities may have happened here with Israel, because before all of this happened, Netanyahu was facing major issues domestically, a huge amount of protests against him, major efforts to remove him from power.”

As noted by Bent, 9/11 ushered in the Patriot Act (which had clearly been written and was waiting in the wings for just the right moment) that “led to the dystopian hellscape that we’re currently living in, and it’s just mindboggling that people can’t [recognize] the pattern … It’s the same playbook all over again.”

Indeed, the similarities are striking. The main difference is that we now have hindsight we didn’t have in 2001. Today, the ramifications of the Patriot Act have become clear, and as The Great Reset agenda moves forward, we can see how important the implementation of the Patriot Act was to that agenda.

During the COVID pandemic, the globalist cabal began to reveal its true intentions like never before. Many of the players ceased to even pretend that it’s about anything other than the subjugation of the masses.

Since we now know the aim of the globalists is to enslave humanity within a technocratic, transhumanist dystopia where everything we say and do is known by the government and can be used against us, we ought to be very wary about encouraging a war that can then be used to justify a global kind of Patriot Act.

A false flag is an incident designed to deceive people into thinking someone else actually carried it out.

It’s like the scene in the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

There’s a character who plays on the high school football team and has a fancy sports car. Later, his little brother’s friend accidentally trashes this car.

Terrified at how the big brother could respond, they devise a clever plan to shift the blame on someone else. They make it look like the rival football team vandalized the car, decorating it in the rival team’s colors and slogans.

The plan works.

The big brother is tricked into thinking that a rival football team trashed his car instead of the little brother.

This is the essence of a false flag. Governments and intelligence services use the same tactic to nefarious effect.

Take the Mukden Incident in 1931. The Japanese fabricated an attack to justify the invasion of Manchuria.

In 1939, before invading Poland, Nazi Germany staged an attack. They made the Poles look like the attackers.

There was the Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964. That’s when North Vietnam supposedly fired torpedoes at a US warship. The torpedoes missed, and there was no damage. But that made no difference…

President Lyndon Johnson interrupted national television later that evening. In a fiery speech, he rallied the American people against this attack on the US military.

It was the official start of the Vietnam War… one of the biggest disasters in US history. And it all started with the “attack” in the Gulf of Tonkin.

Except the torpedo attack never happened. It was a false pretext for entering the Vietnam War.

Fast forward to 2014, to the sniper attacks in Kiev, Ukraine. It catalyzed the overthrow of the pro-Russian government. But it’s believed to be a false flag attack.

Then there was the 2017 chemical weapons attack in Syria. Investigative journalist Seymour Hersh claims it was a false flag attack intended to get the US directly involved in the Syrian war.

So why am I telling you about this now?

So, the G-7 leaders are in agreement, more war with Russia. Without actually saying exactly that, that was the main takeaway from he meeting of the most feckless leaders in the world.

They also pledged $600 billion they don’t have to fund global infrastructure projects to ‘combat China’s Belt and Road Initiative.’ One wonders where all this money and, in the case of Europe, energy is going to come from to fund all of this.

But the question I’ve had from the beginning of this obvious war of attrition the West wants to impose on Russia is the following: Do we have the stamina, in terms of real production capacity, to cash these checks our leaders are writing?

A major report from the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI), one of the oldest military think tanks in the UK emphatically said not in anyone’s wildest dreams. Alex Mercouris of The Duran did an amazing job of breaking down what RUSI thought about NATO’s ability to wage war vs. Russia’s current military tempo, days before this idea caught fire.

In short, the gulf between NATO’s annual munition production and weekly consumption by the UAF is staggeringly vast.

I told you at the outset of this war that Russia was absolutely engaged in a war of attrition against the West, hoping NATO would take the bait of a ground war in Ukraine.  I didn’t have numbers to back this up, only the inference because of what I understood about Putin and his previous maneuvers against the West.

What’s obvious to me is the neocons and neoliberals controlling the West think they can turn Ukraine into a quagmire for Putin, but what if Putin thinks he can turn Ukraine into a quagmire for them?

Russia is not capable of conquering Europe. But he doesn’t need to to defeat them. He just needs to create a version of this map:

I knew that Putin wouldn’t commit Russia to this conflict if it couldn’t sustain fighting it.  I also knew that the West would LIE OUTRAGEOUSLY about the level of corruption within the Russian society to play on the biases of marginally-informed American armchair generals.

Dear Friends:

I was toggling back and forth today between terrifying indications of a coming violent clash in eastern Ukraine and the reality of a violent clash between the Canadian government and peaceful anti-mandate protesters in Ottawa. I became dizzy and disoriented, as looking at troop build-ups on both sides in Russia-Ukraine and troop build-ups (as in the above photo from today) in Canada blurred more and more together. 

Violence is the glue that holds government power together.

As ever, the battlefield was not only on the ground. Competing media narratives also battled it out, though the dominant (Washington/MSM) view in both situations was firmly in control of the microphone.

Biden told us today that he now (finally – after weeks of wrong predictions) knows that – for sure this time – Putin was going to sack and plunder Kiev with an army of hundreds of thousands (the number keeps increasing from one telling to the next). Asked how he is not finally convinced, he answered “we have a very good intelligence capability.” Well, considering its recent performance, that is a matter for debate.

A “false flag” from Russia was coming, said the warhawks who infest the Beltway. They would do something spectacular to establish a pretext for their planned invasion, we were told. Secretary of State Blinken said as much yet again in his cut-rate Colin Powell performance before the UN Security Council yesterday. And if for some reason they don’t attack Kiev, it’s because Biden’s steadfast defense of decency led Putin to “reverse course.”

As I said in an interview yesterday, the whole Washington performance is cartoonish.

Will the Russians attack? Well, they’ve been clear for years: a Kiev attack on three-quarters of a million Russian citizens in eastern Ukraine – who because of a Washington coup found themselves ruled by a government that came to power illegitimately – will be met with a Russian military response. 

In the breathless world of the braindead media hacks, the world began yesterday. But actually we are seeing a situation similar to 2008 in South Ossetia, where Russian passport holders (and Russian OSCE monitors) found themselves under attack by Georgia. The result was lightening fast, effective, and limited. Russia could have held and “regime-changed” Tbilisi. They did not. They made their point and left.

Even the US government-funded RFE had to admit that yes, in fact, it was Georgia that started the hostilities…and Russia that ended them.

Will Russia come to the aid of Donbas? Yes. They are not trying to hide it. They’ve been saying it for years. 

The renowned historian and international relations theoretician Edward Luttwak – never accused of being a political partisan – put it best on Twitter: The latest IC forecast: war is imminent and Russian forces will rely on exceptionally intense artillery bombardments, of Kiev too. That implies a reckless-gambler Putin, willing to make Ukrainians hate Russia & Russians forever. Neither is congruent with Putin’s record so far. This is the difference between astute analysts and the cardboard cut-outs who populate the media. People of intellectual substance like Luttwak are not in the business to grind an axe. They analyze past behavior and seek the truth. 

Sadly these days we are stuck with the former, with the latter being rarities.

Meanwhile in Canada, a liberal Western democracy has declared war – literally – on its own peaceful citizens who have gathered to oppose the absurd continuation of Covid-related mandates. Even insane San Francisco is in the process of eliminating its mandates, yet somehow Justin Trudeau’s Canada is willing to literally go to war with its own people to keep them in place.

What is funny about Canada (and this is also true of the US and many “Western” liberal democracies), is that they are very happy to preach to the rest of the world that peaceful protests must be allowed while literally at the same time brutally cracking down on same protests in their own countries. As in the late Soviet era, the hypocrisy is impossible to ignore. The regime disintegrates under the weight of its own contradictions. 
If like me you are toggling between Ukraine and Canada, watching violence and the threat of violence spilling out all over, you feel that old sickening feeling. You know things are about to get much worse. You know that the machine of evil is well-oiled with our blood and money. Our choice is to admit defeat or to keep fighting against government violence and those who promote it. We choose to fight.

The other day I asked, “What is Washington up to?”  It is already time to ask that question again. 

While writing my article suggesting that only a judicious use of Russian force would sober up the West, Washington doubled down on its anti-Russian position, predicting in two news venues–the Secretary of State’s UN speech and the State Department spokesman’s press briefing–that Russia was about to launch a false flag attack that Russia would use as the excuse to invade Ukraine. 

The State Department claims are pure fantasy.  Why after just rejecting the Russian’s proposal for a mutual security agreement does the Biden regime keep fanning the flames of war?

It makes no sense for the State Department to predict something that is not going to happen. As there is no aerial or satellite evidence or evidence of any kind except assertions that “US intelligence has concluded” of a concentration of attack forces on Ukraine’s border, the only way the State Department could know of a false flag event would be if it is a US false flag attack for which Russia is being set up for blame.

We have heard excessively about 150,000 invasion troops allegedly assembled on Ukraine’s border with Russia. We have not heard about 150,000 British and US trained Ukrainian troops on the border of the Donbass republics.  We have not heard about the massive arms that the West has sent to Ukraine or about the CIA trained neo-Nazi militias. If we hear anything, we hear that these Ukrainian forces are there to protect against a Russian invasion, a statement that is nonsensical.  Why would the Ukrainian forces be concentrated on the Donbass border? The Russians would simply come in behind them, and the Ukrainians would be trapped between the Russians and the Donbass forces.  How is it possible that US and UK military advisers would make such a mistake?

The Saker reports that the latest information from Donbass is that the Ukrainians are using UR-77 mine clearing vehicles to clear mines from the Donbass border.  This is the operation that is conducted just prior to a ground attack.  

It would seem that if any invasion is planned, it is a Ukrainian invasion of Donbass calculated to bring the Russians in.  The report of an invasion of Donbass would be labeled a Russian false flag attack, and the Russian intervention would become the predicted invasion.  If anything happens, I think I have described it.

Washington has prepared the narrative with Blinken’s UN address today and with the State Department spokesman’s press briefing.  NATO and the Western media know the narrative and would repeat it endlessly.  No actual facts would enter the story. Those who challenge the new narrative would be accused of being Russian agents.  Sanctions would be imposed. The military/security complex’s budget would be increased. Europe would be pressured off Russian natural gas. US/NATO military presence on Russia’s border would be beefed up.

The growing burden of deceit and frustration will one day make Russia dangerous.  To forestall an explosion of fury, Russia needs to enforce its red lines now.  Washington needs to be taught a lesson before Washington goes too far.

Update:  The scenario I sketched appears to be unfolding. In an “intelligence update” the British defense minister stated that reports from Donbass of “alleged abnormal military activity by Ukraine in Donbas are a blatant attempt by the Russian government to fabricate pretexts for invasion.”  The incompetent British Defence Ministry has prepared a map with arrows drawn of the lines of advance of the Russian forces.  As the Ukrainian army is concentrated on the Donbass border, there are no forces for the Russians to encounter in their advance along 9 lines of invasion imagined by the British.  https://www.rt.com/russia/549776-uk-military-russia-invasion-map/

How is one to gain and keep his freedom in a country made up of apathetic and obedient fools steeped in ignorance? This is a question for the ages, but in this twenty first century, it is a life and death struggle on the edge of darkness, where light exists only in the distance, and only in the minds of the very few. The reality of this dilemma is a story about survival, so should those that understand the dire situation we face, those that have the courage to fight for their own liberty; abandon the rest of society in favor of pursuing truth and freedom without being surrounded by the chains of weakness and submission that consume most of the masses? We are currently living in an irresponsible insanity, so should the societal cord be cut? Is that the only way to escape the collective mob mentality?

The polarization of America that has been growing in strength for years, continues to escalate at an even faster pace, and of course, this has all been accomplished by design through indoctrination, fear mongering, and brainwashing. Many believed that during the last criminal political administration, it could not get any worse, but alas, each time one evil and corrupt group replaces another in this absurd political process, division and hatred continues to grow, and things always worsen.

Since we are in the midst of what is referred to as a “Great Reset” of society, and the push for global governance, transhumanism, and a new technocratic ‘elite’ controlling system are being sought, it is brutally obvious that more lies, deceit, false flag events, threats, and liberty destruction will be forthcoming. But this time, the final push toward a totalitarian state is upon us, and an all-out assault on society seems imminent. With most of the population still going along with these scams, still obeying every order, and still unable to muster any courage to protect their own lives and families, what then are those of us that are informed and willing to defy ‘authority’ to do?

What is actually coming in my opinion will be a combination of extreme propaganda, fear-mongering, false flag attacks, fake ‘virus’ attacks, a deadly flu season due to ‘vaccination,’ more ‘vaccine’ mandates, and power and water grid shutdowns, creating an environment to allow for full or partial martial law. This will set the stage to reinstate lockdowns, quarantines, and isolation, to advance bogus ‘climate change’ agendas, and to create a regulatory climate so restrictive as to mirror that of a total dictatorial state.

First and foremost, the ‘variant’ threat will be easily advanced because many more will likely die this fall and winter than last due to widespread immune system failures because of the stress of the lockdowns and isolation, and the millions of poisonous injections that have already been administered. Excess deaths, actually most all deaths, will still be blamed on a ‘virus’ or ‘variant’ that does not exist, and this tactic will allow the purposeful spreading of extreme fear.

This government and all its propaganda arms will then go after the children by planned injection of the toxic ‘Covid vaccine throughout the government run indoctrination centers called ‘public’ schools. This will begin with children 12 and older, and throughout this year and next will be targeting every child down to babies and infants with this deadly concoction.

With more death and sickness, new and more severe lockdowns will be attempted, and very restrictive measures will be forthcoming. This plot will be enhanced due to planned cyber attacks that are ‘expected’ to shut down power and water grids across the nation. These so-called attacks will certainly be false flag terror against the masses, and could easily cause civil unrest, violence, and extreme aggression by the state in response to any dissent. These cyber attacks have been acted out for years, but simulations have been greatly intensified this year, and will culminate with the World Economic Forum’s Cyber Polygon simulation on July 9th, just one week from today.

Don’t forget about the fictitious manmade ‘climate change’ agenda, as it looks like the drive toward radical policy decisions based on climate are already in the works. This is very troubling, as it adds another dangerous level of tyranny to a society already consumed by dictatorial madness. It could easily be used to force more quarantines, travel bans, and allocation of utility services, that are all virtually controlled by this government and its partners. What comes with this agenda is mass restriction of life-giving water and power, the decimation of food production and distribution, supply line shutdowns, and unstoppable runaway inflation, especially concerning the most vital needs of this citizenry. When food becomes so scarce that many are starving, total chaos will ensue.

Economically speaking, any or all of these things happening will disrupt all economic activity for the masses, but will be used by the claimed ‘elite’ ruling class to continue to steal the wealth from all of you, just as has happened over the past year and a half. This has been the biggest wealth transfer in history, and it is not over yet. The powerful that are destroying the lives of billions, are continuing to live like kings while claiming ownership of all money and property. The goal of course, is for you to own nothing and be happy about it.

All these things spoken about here are just the tip of the iceberg. There will be much more pressure to mandate immunity passports, and surveillance of everyone will dramatically increase. Much of the general population will become enforcers for the state, and will monitor and report their neighbors in order to gain favor. It seems logical as well, that social scoring will become a distinct possibility, in order to add another layer of control to this society. Markets will eventually collapse, and what little savings are left will be depleted. As all this happens, the dollar will likely be replaced over time with digital currency so that each and every transaction can be monitored and scrutinized. This is the “Great Reset,” after all, and all the warning signs have been evident for many years, but blind indifference and voluntary obedience have led to the possible end of humanity as it has ever been perceived.

All the common people are enemies of this state, but those of us refusing to go along are going to face extreme hatred by our fellow men. We will be targeted, abused, and accused of causing any manner of public ills, and also of allowing the perpetuation of this state terror. We will be said to have caused mass death because we refuse to take the poison being administered by the real criminals. We will be hated by the government and the people at large as well, and may in the future even be hunted, jailed, or worse. None can force sanity on others, or make them protect themselves, so I am speaking to those that stand up and question authority, not to those that continue to acquiesce to their masters.

In my estimation, there will soon be violence in the streets; which could lead to medical and martial law. The more that refuse to accept this totalitarian domination, the better, as time has run out, but if a very large number of excess deaths occur this fall and winter as I expect, the wheels of tyranny will turn faster and faster in an attempt to finish this long-planned coup to capture and control the bodies and minds of humanity. At that point, we will have already lost, especially those living in the highest population areas such as cities.

I realize all this sounds far-fetched to most, but then most have no idea of what is coming. We are not in Kansas anymore.

What Happened: Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted pedophile who ‘killed himself’ and had close connections to many powerful people, also had some peculiar paintings in his home, as discovered after his death. Many were sexual in nature but not all of them. A couple of the paintings were by artist Ryan-Kleid. Apparently, Kleid had no idea that Epstein’s home was where these paintings ended up. One of the paintings inside Epstein’s home was of Bill Clinton wearing a blue dress, sitting seductively in a chair, crossing his legs and pointing a finger to the person looking at the picture. Another one was of George W. Bush, called “War Games” which features the former president sitting on the floor of the White House playing with paper airplanes in front of two fallen Jenga towers, obviously implying his manipulation of the 9/11 attacks which were used to justify the invasion of Iraq for ulterior motives. Who knows what the Clinton painting is supposed to imply, I’ll let you be the judge.

Parsing Bill and War Games were shown at the 2012 Tribeca Ball, a fundraiser for Ryan-Kleid’s alma mater, the New York Academy of Art. Photos from A Guest of a Guest, a party blog, show the artist posing in front of the two works at the star-studded event.

Earlier today, Ryan-Kleid said in a statement to artnet News that she had no idea where the painting had ended up until she saw it light up the news yesterday:

In 2012, as a grad student at the New York Academy of Art, I painted pictures of Presidents Bill Clinton and Bush as part of my Master’s thesis. When the school put on a fundraiser at the Tribeca Ball that year, they sold my painting to one of the attendees. I had no idea who the buyer was at the time. As with most of my paintings, I had completely lost track of this piece when it was sold seven years ago. So it was a complete surprise to me to learn yesterday that it wound up in Epstein’s home. Why This Is Important: 9/11 is a classic example of what’s happened on our planet time and time again for over one hundred years. I am referring to ‘false flag‘ events that are created by the same ‘powers that be’ who then in-turn use these events to justify actions that they desire to take. In this case, the invasion of Iraq after 9/11. Some still believe this is a conspiracy theory, but leaked documents, examination from physicists and engineers, whistle-blower testimony from high ranking individuals, the connections, creation, arming and funding of various terrorist groups like ISIS and Al-Qaeda to and by western governments, and much more make it quite clear for others.

That being said, a massive amount of propaganda was created after this event, and patriotism was used to glorify military heroes. These were soldiers not knowing what they were being sent to do. They themselves believed they were actually protecting their country, when in reality the invasion of Iraq and the entire Middle East over the years had absolutely nothing to do with that.

Wikileaks’ Collateral Murder video was a great example.

Beirut Devastated: The New Paradigm May Be Explosive — Strategic Culture

Sometimes the news cycle and the geo-political cycle simply part company. This is one such occasion – the devastation of Beirut Port. What happened there is destined to constitute a major geo-political event – whatever way its sequellae should cascade out and shape the future. There are good, historic reasons for this parting of the ways: One (which explains the regional silence), is that we have not yet had the forensics. Yes, satellite photos galore, but not the nitty-gritty from the ground. Not the forensics.

The main stream media is in a hurry to ‘shape’ its story of the explosion in advance of the Special Tribunal verdict on the death of Rafic Hariri (now due on 18 August), and which is expected to indict Hizbullah members. Yet there are still many unanswered questions. It will be a further few days until these forensics become available from the site. They will of course be contested, and may resolve very little.

Against this silence, awaiting word from key players, the western and Israeli media headlines are churning out ‘everything you need to know’, and their ‘wrap-ups’ from Beirut. It is however, far from wrapped-up. More questions arise as the days pass. And the region has a collective memory of such geo-political inflection points.

The ‘popular’ 1953 uprising against PM Mossadegh, which transpired to be an MI6/CIA coup, and which – subsequently – was to usher in the game-changing Iranian Revolution; the 2005 assassination of Rafic Hariri, which led to Syria’s exit from Lebanon – and on flimsy computer patterning of calls (of unknown content) on ‘families’ of cell phones – was institutionalised into shaping the culpability of Hizbullah, and concomitantly, the movement’s widespread terrorist designation. (Hizbullah has, from the outset, disputed the western/international narrative on the Hariri assassination).

Yet the truth is, that what happened to Rafic Hariri remains still obscured in the fog of partisan war (as maybe will be the fate of this week’s Beirut devastation). In Syria, the Chemical Weapons story for Douma became another ‘turning point’, amidst the roar of U.S. Tomahawk missiles (as Assad became a Chemical Weapons pariah). Yet, documents from the OPCW in last days show the chemical weapons claim was a fabrication.

Yes, the region has good cause to pause. On the one hand, we have not had the forensics on the Port explosion, and on the other, we have Trump’s assertion – later reiterated by him – that he was told by his military generals that what happened in Beirut was “an attack” (a bomb). The President did not “speculate” that it was an attack. He said plainly that his generals had told him so.

This statement cannot entirely be air-brushed out of the calculus. And nor can the exact mirroring of the strangely unified ‘shape’ and mushroom effect of the Beirut main explosion with a similar ‘unexplained explosion’ some months ago in Syria – be discounted. And finally, there is the question: Were there three explosions?

So, we await what is likely to be a perfectly binary outcome. Either the devastation resulted from culpable negligence by the port security authorities, or was a bold attempt to audaciously ‘explode’ the current regional dynamics; to re-shape narratives and radically to re-cast geopolitics. Both are possible.

What then? The Israeli narrative is that the destruction in Beirut will cause the Lebanese population to rise up against Hizballah, and will demand that its munitions be removed away from population centres. (Israel of course would welcome the visibility into Hizbullah’s arsenals that this would entail). The scheduling of an emergency UNSC meeting for Monday, and calls to place Lebanon under international supervision, suggest that western states will be seeking to use the crisis further to weaken and constrain Hizbullah.

March 14th will seek to capitalise on what has happened to mobilise the Lebanese against Hizballah, but it is unlikely to get the domestic resonance that others may anticipate. The port of Beirut historically has been a Sunni patrimony. It has no single security structure, and these latter are no friend to Hizbullah. The port is also open to inspection by UNIFIL. If the management of the facility were to be characterised, it would be said to be one of decay and rampant venality. It is possible that this – culpable negligence leading to accident – was responsible fully or partially, for what happened.

If so, it would seem that public anger may focus more on the corrupt Za’im (the ‘capos’ of the system that have been ravaging the economic structure for their own enrichment for decades), than necessarily be directed at Hizbullah. Indeed, the present government may have a tough time to survive – even though it was not in office at the time any negligence may have occurred. That responsibility belongs to the Old Guard.

Were it to transpire that Trump was broadly correct, and that what occurred was an attack of some sort, it would not be hard to answer to the question cui bono? Israeli journalists are already preening themselves over the ‘event’s auspicious timing: That “Lebanon [now] is bound to implode”, and that the explosion’s ‘shockwaves’ will discomfort Hizbullah for a long time to come, but more especially in advance of the Special Tribunal report.

One Israeli journalist added that the explosion “at Lebanon’s main port sends a warning message to Iran, too, who only about a month ago said it would deploy ships and oil tankers to Lebanon. There were even talks of a vessel that would host a power station, which would give Beirut electricity … Israel and the United States in particular, fear these ships, if they do make it to Lebanon, would start a regular supply line not only of oil, flour and medicine, but also of weapons, ammunitions and missile parts”.

Much then, hangs on the forensics: Was this a bold ‘false flag’ initiative to upturn the strategic status quo (of the kind on which Israel once prided itself), hiding beneath, and making use of a publicly known vulnerability at the Beirut port – the storage of 2,700 kg of ammonium nitrate – in order to destroy Hizbullah’s strategic place in the region, and to shift politics in an unexpected new direction (favourable to Israel)?

Or, a further example of Lebanese élite lassitude and venality, caring only for themselves and nothing for the well-being of its people?

If the former, and events presage a renewed attempt to crush Hizbullah, the new regional paradigm indeed may be explosive.
