a. A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.

b. A political philosophy or movement based on or advocating such a system of government.

2. Oppressive, dictatorial control.

 

Now there is a word that has been bandied about recently. It has become a catch-all phrase to describe any person or institution to be put down when the accuser doesn’t have an intelligent argument.

CNN Calls Anyone Who Disagrees With Them a Fascist | Armstrong Economics

I just had a conversation with a friend regarding labels, what they mean and the people that USE them.  CNN is a good illustration.

Labels like alt this, hate crime that are used to make others think the purveyors of such terms know what they are talking and are therefore actually doing something.

When a vote counting prosecutor says I am treating this murder as a hate crime what does that really mean? Does it mean other murders will get put on the back burner. Is my getting murdered more of a crime than you getting murdered? If you or I are a member of the oppressed group du jour, then yes. Read the rest of this entry »

Fresh off a hate-filled rant against populism (a.k.a. consent of the governed), Pope Francis recently delivered another mean-spirited, hateful diatribe about the “grave risks associated with the invasion of . . . libertarian individualism at high strata of culture and in university education.”
