The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity : Censorship and Gun Control Will Not Make Us Safe

Posted by M. C. on November 6, 2018

The effort to silence “hate speech” is not just about outlawing racist, sexist, or anti-Semitic speech. The real goal is to discredit, and even criminalize, criticism of the welfare-warfare state by redefining such criticism as “hate.”

Some social media sites, particularly Facebook and Twitter, are eager to silence not just bigots but those using their platforms to advocate for liberty. Facebook has recently banned a number of libertarian pages— including Cop Block, a site opposing police misconduct. Twitter has also banned a number of conservatives and libertarians, as well as critics of American foreign policy. Some libertarians say we should not get upset as these are private companies exercising private property rights. However, these companies are working with government and government-funded entities such as the Atlantic Council, a group funded by NATO and the military-industrial complex, to determine who should and should not be banned.

Another Week, Another Example Of Hypocrisy Among The Elites

Posted by M. C. on October 8, 2018

Taking his cues from Teddy K and Rosie O.

https://bearingarms.com/tom-k/2018/10/07/another-week-another-example-hypocrisy-among-elites/

The latest example of this? NBA superstar LeBron James.

NBA star LeBron James loves his family, naturally enough. And when bad guys recently targeted them, he took steps to keep them safe. Specifically, the Los Angeles Lakers dribbler brought in some heavy-duty firepower – a whole team of armed guards. He’s taking “every possible measure” to protect his loved ones, as would anyone.

Meanwhile, as far as the little people are concerned, LeBron says “there is no room for guns.” And he wants to increase penalties for carrying firearms – “legal or illegal.”

Incredibly, even Chicago’s anti-gun priest, Father Michael Pfleger, has armed guards. Of course, Pfleger claims he has no armed bodyguards. Yet despite Pfleger’s prevarications, one of his favorite bodyguards caught was arrested for carrying a gun without a license not long ago. Right on the steps of Fr. Pfleger’s church.

If anti-gunners didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any at all.

I couldn’t agree more.

People like James can afford to hire professionals. They can afford to outsource their personal safety…

Be seeing you

Louisiana Attorney General Denies $600 Million to Citibank, Bank of America Over Gun Control

Posted by M. C. on August 19, 2018

https://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2018/08/16/louisiana-attorney-general-denies-600-million-to-citibank-bank-of-america-over-gun-control/

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry and the state’s Bond Commission denied $600 million to Citibank and Bank of America over the gun control stance adopted by both companies.

Citibank and Bank of America were both to be part of a road financing plan in the state, but were omitted from the financial plan after arbitrarily placing new gun controls on banking customers.

Louisiana Executive Division press secretary Ruth Wisher told Breitbart News that Landry and State Treasurer John Schroder have been working on the state’s response to corporate gun control “for some time.” Omitting them from the $600 million is part of that response… Read the rest of this entry »

The Ten Dumbest Things I Heard About Guns At The United Nations

Posted by M. C. on July 2, 2018

The United Nations. One of Hillary’s favorite political venues.

RFID chips to “track and document which individual has used a specific weapon, when and for how long.”

That’s right, chipping gun owners is on the UN agenda.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/tedbromund/2018/06/28/the-ten-dumbest-things-i-heard-about-guns-at-the-united-nations/

For the past two weeks, I’ve been attending the Third U.N. Conference to Review Progress Made in the Implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects — mercifully abbreviated as RevCon 3 for the PoA.

Unfortunately, the PoA doesn’t stick to the illicit international trade in small arms. And in the process of not allowing it to stick to its job, its supporters say a lot of stupid things. And yes, they do like to talk about gun control…

4. Mexico’s proposal to regulate “the end user.” For years, Mexico has argued that the PoA shouldn’t simply concern itself with the international illicit arms trade, but should reach inside national borders and regulate “end users.” In the U.S., that means individual purchasers of firearms, which is precisely why Mexico wants what it wants: it’s trying to use the PoA to mandate gun control in the U.S. Mexico’s proposal is part of the PoA’s curious tendency to forget that it’s supposed to be focusing solely on the international trade, and to wade off into regulating the “end user.” The highlight of this tendency is the proposal, made in 2016 by the U.N. Secretary-General and included in a PoA draft this year, to use RFID chips to “track and document which individual has used a specific weapon, when and for how long.” Read the rest of this entry »

AMA Says Take Your Meds While Doctors Take Your Guns | The Daily Sheeple

Posted by M. C. on June 20, 2018

For some reason, the American Medical Association — which was founded to promote the American medical community — wants to wade into one of the premier political battles of our day: Gun control.

The AMA has shifted at least some of its attention recently away from pushing Big Pharma meds that kill more than 100,000 Americans a year to jumping on the gun confiscation bandwagon pushed by the Marxist Left.

As reported by TownHall, the organization last week approved a wide-ranging list of “common sense” gun control demands that include banning the sale of “all assault-type weapons, bump stocks and related devices, high-capacity magazines, and armor piercing bullets.”

The list was okayed by the AMA’s House of Delegates, a pretend ‘legislative body’ that meets a couple times a year at overpriced venues to drink overpriced liquor and vote on medical and political ‘recommendations. Read the rest of this entry »

CNN’s long history of allowing Democratic town-hall plants

Posted by M. C. on February 22, 2018

Will the Clinton News Network ever plant questions about the complete incompetence of the FIB and who will get fired for it’s Nikolas Cruz epic fail? Or about the effects of psychotropic drugs? Or how Cruz’s school mates, school officials and family members- all sheeple- chose to ignore the obvious and did nothing to prevent disaster?

https://nypost.com/2016/01/06/cnns-long-history-of-allowing-democratic-town-hall-plants/

CNN has a long history of allowing political plants to flourish in its public forums.

At the cable station’s Democratic debate in Las Vegas in 2007, moderator Wolf Blitzer introduced several citizen questioners as “ordinary people, undecided voters.” But they later turned out to include a former Arkansas Democratic director of political affairs, the president of the Islamic Society of Nevada, and a far-left anti-war activist who’d been quoted in newspapers lambasting Harry Reid for his failure to pull out of Iraq.

At a CNN/YouTube GOP debate two weeks later, the everyday, “undecided voters” whose questions were chosen included:

  • A member of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transsexual Americans For Hillary Clinton Steering Committee.

Media Says You’re to Blame for Shootings Unless You Report Odd Behavior | The Daily Bell

Posted by M. C. on October 11, 2017

Beria and FDR’s Uncle Joe would have been proud.

Media Says You’re to Blame for Shootings Unless You Report Odd Behavior

“How do we fit the latest tragedy into our political agenda?” The media wondered. “Gun control is so cliché. And even though the tragedies get bigger and bigger, we still have little luck!”

“I have an idea!” Exclaimed one outlet, “We can convince people that if they don’t report their neighbors and family members to authorities for acting subjectively crazy, then they are to blame for crazy people’s actions!”

“Yes!” Agreed another, “And we can tell them that ‘micro-aggressions’, criticism of the government, and just getting a bad feeling from someone are all worthy of reporting to the authorities!” Read the rest of this entry »

I used to think gun control was the answer. My research told me otherwise.

Posted by M. C. on October 4, 2017

Washington Post!

Yes, the problem is deeper than a 20 second MSM/politician sound bite can do justice.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/amphtml/opinions/i-used-to-think-gun-control-was-the-answer-my-research-told-me-otherwise/2017/10/03/d33edca6-a851-11e7-92d1-58c702d2d975_story.html

Before I started researching gun deaths, gun-control policy used to frustrate me. I wished the National Rifle Association would stop blocking common-sense gun-control reforms such as banning assault weapons, restricting silencers, shrinking magazine sizes and all the other measures that could make guns less deadly.

Then, my colleagues and I at FiveThirtyEight spent three months analyzing all 33,000 lives ended by guns each year in the United States, and I wound up frustrated in a whole new way. We looked at what interventions might have saved those people, and the case for the policies I’d lobbied for crumbled when I examined the evidence. The best ideas left standing were narrowly tailored interventions to protect subtypes of potential victims, not broad attempts to limit the lethality of guns…
