Biden, Our Boneheaded Chip Czar | The Libertarian Institute

Posted by M. C. on November 4, 2022

Actually, it is unclear whether the Syracuse plant will even be built. The New York Times reported that Micron recently “reported a 20 percent drop in fourth-quarter revenue” and “slashed planned spending on factories and equipment by nearly 50 percent in the current fiscal year.” Fortune magazine noted that “demand for chips is collapsing just as Joe Biden signs bill” to boost U.S. production.

The one government excels at is proving time and again central planning does not work.

Jubilation erupted in Washington this summer as politicians lurched towards commandeering a key swath of the American economy. Congress passed Biden-backed legislation known as the Chip Act to spend $52 billion subsidizing semiconductor production. A Washington Post headline hailed “a big month for Bidenomics” and another headline celebrated “Biden’s hot streak.”

The Chip Act’s passage sparked a volcanic eruption of economic illiteracy from the media and top politicians. Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne proclaimed, “The chips bill means the Era of Hands-Off Government is over.” Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY), the Senate Majority Leader, huffed, “The old laissez-faire theory is: Leave the companies alone, and they’ll do great.” Inside the Beltway, anything less than total federal domination of the economy is derided as “laissez-faire.” Schumer scoffed at the failure of laissez-faire just after Congress sharply raised taxes on corporations. Jared Bernstein, a member of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, declared, “When it comes to establishing a lasting legacy in terms of existentially necessary economic transformation, history may well put President Biden in the same sentence as FDR and LBJ.”

The exaltation occurred because “many politicians believe that Beijing’s economic planning is superior to the U.S. free-market system,” as a Wall Street Journal editorial noted. Brian Deese, Biden’s National Economic Council director, declared, “The question should move from ‘Why should we pursue an industrial strategy?’ to ‘How do we pursue one successfully?’” And since Congress passed the law, that proved that Team Biden was successful.

The Chip Act made Biden the nation’s Semiconductor Czar, and he promised that he would “personally have to sign off on the biggest grants” to companies. What could possibly go wrong?

If a picture is worth a thousand words, is a political photo opportunity worth $50 billion? Biden rushed to exploit the new law for a campaign event before the congressional mid-term elections. Last week, Biden and New York Governor Kathy Hochul held a media circus outside of Syracuse, New York to celebrate subsidies for a Micron semiconductor plant that will not even break ground until 2024. Hochul swayed the New York legislature to enact a subsidy of up to $10 billion for semiconductor producers. Micron is expected to pocket more than $5 billion—the largest corporate handout in state history. Federal subsidies will be added next year when the Chip Act starts dishing out goodies. The total subsidy per promised job exceeds $600,000 and could rise far higher.

Biden boasted that Micron’s investment in New York is “the largest investment of its kind…ever ever in history.” Because the plant will run solely on renewable energy, its production costs could be sharply higher than unsubsidized factories elsewhere in the world. Biden also boasted that the plant would be constructed solely by union members paid high wages dictated by the U.S. Labor Department. The federal and state mandates effectively guarantee that the new plant will be uncompetitive even before the first spade of dirt is overturned.

Biden bragged, “With Micron’s $100 billion investment alone, we’re going to increase America’s share of global memory chips and production by 500%.” Actually, it is unclear whether the Syracuse plant will even be built. The New York Times reported that Micron recently “reported a 20 percent drop in fourth-quarter revenue” and “slashed planned spending on factories and equipment by nearly 50 percent in the current fiscal year.” Fortune magazine noted that “demand for chips is collapsing just as Joe Biden signs bill” to boost U.S. production. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index had declined by 35% from its high by the time the law was passed.

But Biden and Schumer, counting on the illiterates in the mainstream media, are still hailed as saviors regardless of the glut. Biden’s subsidies could help turn chip production in America into a cartel. Creating a surplus of chips could be ruinous for unsubsidized producers. The same pattern has repeated since the 1930s for federal agricultural subsidies that favored the largest farmers and helped drive small farmers out of business.

NY Gov Slams State Supreme Court Ruling Abolishing Mask Mandate, Pledges To “Reverse It Immediately” | ZeroHedge

Posted by M. C. on January 25, 2022

We wonder how the Empire State’s business community feels about the governor’s pledge to find a way around the ruling?

New Yorkers actually voted her and Cuomo into office. How does a rational prson do this?

In a decision that will likely be welcomed by many New York parents and schoolchildren, along with the countless workers, consumers and tourists in the Empire State, the Supreme Court of New York struck down Gov. Kathy Hochul’s statewide mask mandate. In its ruling, the court declared the mask mandate “unconstitutional” and “null, void and unenforceable”.New York State Supreme Court Justice Thomas Rademaker of Nassau County wrote in his opinion explaining the decision that the governor doesn’t have the authority to impose the mandate since the “emergency powers” once wielded by her predecessor, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, are no longer in place.Without the assent of the legislature, the Court determined that the governor doesn’t have the ability to order masks mandates, although the circumstances would be different if emergency powers granted by lawmakers were still in effect.

Gov. HochulThe ruling goes: “While the intentions of Commissioner Bassett and Governor Hochul appear to be well-aimed squarely at doing what they believe is right to protect the citizens of New York State, they must take their case to the State Legislature.”Gov. Hochul ordered the mandate last month amid a flurry of new restrictions ordered by various states. President Biden has seen SCOTUS and another federal judge overrule his vaccination mandates. In response to the ruling, Gov. Hochul said the following: “My responsibility as Governor is to protect New Yorkers throughout this public health crisis, and these measures help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and save lives. We strongly disagree with this ruling, and we are pursuing every option to reverse this immediately.”Put another way, Gov. Hochul says she doesn’t care about the legal precedent, and will do everything in her power to continue enforcing the mandate.

We wonder how the Empire State’s business community feels about the governor’s pledge to find a way around the ruling?

New York State Has Imposed New Covid Rituals. This Time There’s Some Resistance. | Mises Wire

Posted by M. C. on December 22, 2021

Nicolas Gregoris

Friday, December 10, New York State governor Kathy Hochul reaffirmed the state’s status as the nation’s most zealous practitioner of covid cultism with the announcement of a new statewide “vax-or-mask” mandate.

The mandate confronts businesses and physical institutions with a choice: either A) check vaccination at the door and turn away unvaccinated customers or B) require that all customers wear masks. Noncompliant property owners are threatened with a $1,000 fine and subject to “criminal and civil penalties.” Governor Hochul justifies the new mandate by citing concerns over the new omicron variant and New York’s strained healthcare system. The mandate will take effect on Monday, December 13.

The Definition of Insanity

For this new set of policies, the old adage “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result” comes to mind. Anyone who actually “follows the science” will see that this newest mandate (or any of the previous other dystopian policies we have been subject to) is about “public health” insofar as that means protecting the health of the community. Both measures involved in the mandate—coercive vaccination and mandatory masking—have little (if any evidence) supporting their efficacy.

There are countless admissions from out most trusted institutions such as the C.D.C., W.H.O., and the corporate press acknowledging that individuals who are “fully vaccinated” are still fully capable of spreading COVID-19 and its variants. Findings published by the C.D.C. at the start of the Delta Variant hysteria reveal that 74% of cases found in the study manifested in vaccinated individuals. A more recent example demonstrating the abysmal failure of vaccine mandates comes from Cornell University. The ivy-league Ithaca, N.Y.-based university began requiring vaccines (and mask-wearing at all times) for all students this fall semester and at the present moment, the student body has a 97% vaccination rate. However, despite this level of vaccination and compliance, Cornell just announced it will be moving to an entirely online curriculum for the remainder of the semester due to a spike in cases and presence of the omicron variant. To add insult to injury (for the narrative, that is), Cornell’s Vice President for University Relations Joel Malina released a statement saying “Virtually every case of the Omicron variant to date has been found in fully vaccinated students, a portion of whom had also received a booster shot…”. Can someone explain to me how mandating a vaccine that prevent transmission is going to “stop the spread”? Please go slowly, so I won’t miss anything.

Furthermore, revelations regarding the dramatic decline in immunity provided by vaccines as soon as six months after receipt of the final dose should raise further alarm bells about the intent of mandates. Why would an individual who was vaccinated in February 2021 (and whose immunity could have potentially waned by 50 percent since then) be allowed into an establishment but someone who was literally infected with covid-19 and acquired natural immunity a month prior be forbidden? The answer is found not in any rationale related to health or curbing the spread of a virus, but to the expansion of political power via the punishment of the governor’s political opponents, who, in this case, are those of us who dare to question the pronouncements of the pharmaceutical-industrial complex.

Perhaps the most concerning bit of the vaccine madness is that establishment politicians, journalists, other general hacks, and much of the public at large will openly admit that the vaccine do not prevent transmission or infection and then in the same breath spout the typical line that vaccines are our “best weapon against the virus.” It is scary to think about how much worse off we might be if the propaganda were actually good …

Lastly, the evidence regarding the effectiveness of mass mask wearing is scant—particularly in the context of the covid-19 pandemic. All it takes is a cursory glance at hospitalizations (or hospital capacity) and death rates across states and one will quickly see that negative outcomes are obviously not well correlated with mask mandates, compliance, lockdowns, or vaccine mandates. But if that’s not enough for you, here are a few more “legit” sources regarding masks and upper respiratory illness (the science is far from settled).

Bright Spots in a Dim, Dim State

New York’s new mandate is abysmal news for those of us who value human liberty (or humanity in general). However, a few “rays of hope” have come shining through in the form of rebellious county executives. Hochul’s mandate places the burden of enforcement on counties and several county executives have responded to the governor’s edict with a flat-out refusal to enforce it. Rensselaer County eecutive Steve McLaughlin responded with a statement ending with “Rensselaer County will not utilize resources to enforce this new state mandate. If the state wants to enforce the mandate, the state will need to utilize state resources for those actions.” Madison County board chairman John Becker was even more blunt: “In light of the Governor’s announcement on Friday … Madison County would like to announce we will not be enforcing this latest mandate.”

The response from these two local officials is encouraging. There was virtually no pushback against Andrew Cuomo’s mandates in 2020, so a willingness on the part of local officials to challenge centralized power, publicly refuse to enforce unpopular edicts, and exercise their political authority to protect the interests of their local constituency is exciting, to say the least. It also highlights a trend that we are seeing—an increased interest in federalism and other forms of decentralization, particularly in “red” areas. Governors like Ron DeSantis of Florida, Christi Noam of South Dakota, and Greg Abbott of Texas are more notable examples. Hopefully we will see governments at the state and local level continue to nullify these appalling and useless mandates.

This Is Far from Over

Even though statewide covid mandates seem to have cooled since the rollout of the vaccines earlier this year, the latest mandate from the Empire State serves as a stark reminder that our opponents have not given up on their vision of medical totalitarianism. Unfortunately, it seems obvious that there is still a lot of fight left and many more punches to be thrown. Author:

bionic mosquito: Beware the False Prophet

Posted by M. C. on September 30, 2021

Kathy Hochul

Revelation 19: 20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

http://bionicmosquito.blogspot.com/2021/09/beware-false-prophet.html

Prophet: person who speaks for God; one who foretells, inspired preacher, one who speaks for a god, inspired preacher or teacher

————————————–

False Prophet:

Deuteronomy 18: 20 But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.

21 And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the Lord hath not spoken?

22 When a prophet speaketh in the name of the Lord, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

Jeremiah 23: 14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness; they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

16 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord.

Mark 13: 22 For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.

————————————–

New York Governor Kathy Hochul:

God let you survive this pandemic because he wants you to do great things someday. He let you live through this when so many other people did not and that is also your responsibility.

[God] made the smartest men and women, the scientists, the doctors, the researchers – he made them come up with a vaccine. That is from God to us and we must say, thank you, God. Thank you.  And I wear my ‘vaccinated’ necklace all the time to say I’m vaccinated. All of you, yes, I know you’re vaccinated, you’re the smart ones, but you know there’s people out there who aren’t listening to God and what God wants. You know who they are.

Conclusion

Revelation 19: 20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

NY Gov Unhinged: “Vaccines Are From God…Be My Apostles!”

Posted by M. C. on September 28, 2021

Worse Than Cuomo!

New York Governor Kathy Hochul went into a bizarre rant in front of a church congregation, shifting a public health problem into one of religious significance. Is this starting to look like a cult instead of science? Also, Gov. Hochul signs executive order to fire thousands of nurses – amidst a critical shortage of nurses in NY. Make sense?
