Glenn Greenwald: CNN Dodging ‘Serious Ethical and Journalistic Questions’ About Lanny Davis Fake News Scandal

Posted by M. C. Fox on August 28, 2018

Master Liars – There is a reason it’s called the Clinton News Network

by Matthew Boyle

In an explosive piece laying out the landscape of an ethical minefield through which CNN is navigating poorly, Greenwald in the headline of the story accuses CNN of lying to its audience in a piece authored by Bernstein; former Barack Obama administration official and CNN chief national security correspondent Jim Sciutto, and CNN researcher Marshall Cohen: “CNN, Credibly Accused of Lying to its Audience About a Key Claim in its Blockbuster Cohen Story, Refuses to Comment.”

As Breitbart News has reported, the entire core of the piece from July from Bernstein, Sciutto, and Cohen is entirely fake news. CNN reported, using anonymous sources, that Michael Cohen–President Trump’s former personal attorney who just pleaded guilty to a number of charges brought by the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York–was willing to testify that President Trump knew in advance of a summer 2016 meeting between several senior Trump officials and a Russian attorney with Kremlin links. Cohen’s own attorney, Lanny Davis, later undercut that narrative, publicly claiming on the record nearly a month later that it was not true. Then Davis admitted he was a source for the CNN story–and that he had provided inaccurate information to the network.

Here’s how Greenwald puts it:

Michael Cohen’s lawyer has done real damage to the case against Trump

Posted by M. C. Fox on August 28, 2018

Cohen was supposed to be the guy flipping on Trump and telling investigators everything he knows about the skeletons in Trump’s closet. This episode has to make everyone involved wonder whether his claims are all they’re made out to be.

“Flipping” out. Flipping the truth.

Cohen should have taken the Clinton doctorate level coarse on creative lying.

One of the most bizarre aspects of the investigations engulfing the Trump administration is the lawyers involved. Here we have a presidency on the line, and this is Trump’s team? The top legal spokesmen for each side are . . . Rudy Giuliani and Lanny Davis!?

Up until this point, though, Giuliani was the Great Contradictor and Davis was merely a colorful character. Now that has changed in a big way.

In a new interview with The Washington Post’s Tom Hamburger and Rosalind S. Helderman, Davis is backing off two massive claims he made in recent weeks, including that former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen has told people he witnessed President Donald Trump being informed of Donald Trump Jr.’s 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer before it happened.

“I should have been more clear – including with you – that I could not independently confirm what happened,” Davis said, adding: “I regret my error.”

Davis also backed off his claim that Cohen has information suggesting that Trump knew in advance about Russian hacking of Democrats’ emails in 2016.

“I am not sure,” he said. “There’s a possibility that is the case. But I am not sure.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity : Trump is Right About ‘Flipping’

Posted by M. C. Fox on August 28, 2018

How many times have you read of a prisoner testifying against a fellow prisoner? How valid is the testimony when you know there is something in it for the witness?

A cop’s job is to make arrests.

A prosecutor’s job is to get convictions.

Truth and justice? What?

written by jacob g. hornberger

In the wake of the federal criminal conviction of former Trump official Paul Manafort and the guilty plea in federal court of former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, the mainstream press is singing the praises of special prosecutor (and former FBI Director) Robert Mueller and the Justice Department.

In the process, Trump’s critics are condemning his denunciation of “flipping,” the process by which federal prosecutors offer a sweet deal to criminal defendants in return for testifying against a “higher-up” who the feds are also prosecuting. The press and the anti-Trumpsters say that such a practice is part of the “rule of law” and essential to the proper administration of justice.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Whatever else might be said about Trump, he is absolutely right on this point. The process of offering sweetheart deals to people in return for their “cooperation” to get someone else convicted has long been one of the most corrupt aspects of the federal criminal-justice system, especially as part of the federal government’s much-vaunted (and much-failed) war on drugs… Read the rest of this entry »

Fox’s Hannity revealed as mystery client of Trump’s personal lawyer

Posted by M. C. Fox on April 17, 2018

The only thing missing from this “news” is why it is “news”. Maybe the guy is just a good lawyer.

Now you know where the terms Lamestream News and Presstitutes come from.

U.S. President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer was forced on Monday to reveal in a New York federal court that Fox News personality Sean Hannity, one of Trump’s most ardent defenders, was also on his client list.

Michael Cohen, Trump’s fiercely loyal and pugnacious lawyer, disclosed Hannity’s name through one of his own lawyers at the order of the judge. Stormy Daniels, an adult-film actress who says she had a sexual encounter with Trump, watched from the public gallery….

ACLU Celebrates Raid on Trump’s Lawyer: ‘The Rule of Law is Alive’

Posted by M. C. Fox on April 12, 2018

I used to think the ACLU was right more often than wrong, except for 2nd Amendment issues.

This is an eye opener.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has published an article celebrating the FBI raid on Donald Trump’s personal lawyer as a victory for the rule of law — not a violation of attorney-client privilege and the president’s constitutional rights…

Leaked documents show that Fusion GPS colluded with anti-Trump media

Leaked documents show that Fusion GPS colluded with anti-Trump media

Fusion GPS admits under oath that they colluded with mainstream media.

Yesterday Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein made an unprecedented move by unilaterally releasing the entire transcript of Fusion GPS founder Glenn Simpson’s testimony to the US Senate.

Fallout over the released, highly redacted document started within hours as Donald Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen filed a pair of lawsuits on Tuesday against Buzzfeed and Fusion GPS. Read the rest of this entry »
