Watch “Smackdown! House Dems Desperately Walk Back Letter Urging Diplomacy For Ukraine” on YouTube

Posted by M. C. on October 26, 2022

How it started: 30 Members of the House Progressive Caucus penned a relatively timid letter to President Biden suggesting a bit of diplomacy before we march to WWIII. How it’s going: The House Progressive Caucus almost immediately began furiously backpedaling from their own letter. Meanwhile the US 101st Airborne is in Poland and “ready to fight.” Also today – MSNBC pundit: if you worry about inflation, you might be pro-Hitler. What?

101st Airborne Deployed to Ukraine’s Border ‘Ready To Fight Tonight’

Posted by M. C. on October 24, 2022

A commander said, “this is not a training deployment, this is a combat deployment”

The White House has deployed thousands of American soldiers just miles from Ukraine to prepare for war, according to CBS News. Officers speaking with the outlet revealed they were there for combat against Russia.

Brigadier General John Lubas confirmed nearly 5,000 troops from the 101st Airborne recently joined the 100,000 American soldiers already deployed to Europe. Lubas described his troops as being on “full deployment,” and they are preparing to fight Russian soldiers in Ukraine. “This is not a training deployment, this is a combat deployment for us. We understand we need to be ready to fight tonight,” he said.

CBS Reporter Charlie D’Agata was embedded with the American forces as they conducted military drills – at a forward operating base – within four miles of Ukraine’s border. The 101st Airborne is engaged in joint exercises with Romanian forces, simulating Ukrainian soldiers’ combat against Russian troops.

Colonel Edwin Matthaidess said his forces have been “closely watching” the Russian soldiers, “building objectives to practice against” and conducting war games that “replicate exactly what’s going on” in Ukraine.

CBS News reported, “[Russia’s] goal is to cut off all Ukrainian access to the sea, leaving the country and its military forces landlocked.” CBS News did not provide a source for that assertion. The Kremlin has publicly said its war goal is limited to eastern Ukraine.

Lubas declared the division was “ready to defend every inch of NATO soil.” However, Moscow has never threatened to invade a NATO country. Ukraine is not a NATO member. When President Zelensky said Ukraine should be allowed into the North Atlantic alliance last month, National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg rejected Kiev’s proposal.

The 101st Airborne is a light infantry division. It carries the nickname the “Screaming Eagles” as the Pentagon utilizes the 101st as a force that can deploy around the world within hours. Lubas described his division as bringing a “unique capability, from our air assault capability… We’re a light infantry force, but again, we bring that mobility with us, for our aircraft and air assaults.”

Romanian Major General Lulian Berdila told CBS News that the presence of American troops was reminiscent of WWII, “The real meaning for me, to have the American troops here, is like if you were to have allies in Normandy before any enemy was there.” The 101st has not deployed to Europe since the last world war.

If Trump Had Been Sworn-in Instead of Biden, Would There Be a War in Ukraine?

Posted by M. C. on October 22, 2022

By L. Reichard White

Since he apparently understands the Armageddon possibilities, is it too late for Biden to overcome his Administrative State handlers and stop the situation by cutting off aid to Ukraine and twisting Zelenskyy’s arm hard enough that he’ll pledge not to join NATO?

I’m not a Trump fan — and I’m not fond of Biden either. In fact, following the advice of U.S. founding father James Madison – – – “All men having power ought to be mistrusted” – – – I mistrust all of ’em.

So, with that disclaimer in mind, would there be a war in Ukraine if Trump had been sworn in instead of Biden? I know you probably don’t want to, but the first thing is to try to understand the Russian perspective. The question is, when it comes to NATO, is Putin paranoid?

To save you the trouble of reading “Is Putin Paranoid,” yes, he almost certainly is. And while you may not agree with them, the Russians have their reasons.

In a nut shell, in 1990 when U.S. Secretary of State James Baker III and others — with the equivalent of a gentleman’s hand-shake — promised the Soviet Union’s Mikhail Gorbachov that “NATO would not take even one step closer to Russia’s western border, NATO was 1,000 miles west of Russia’s largest city, St. Petersburg. NATO is now less than 100 miles from St. Petersburg.

Also keep in mind, NATO is run by the only country in history to use nuclear weapons on population centers, having dropped one on Hiroshima and another, three days later, on Nagasaki.

As U.S. President and five-star general Eisenhower put it, It wasn’t necessary to hit them with that awful thing. That doesn’t exactly inspire confidence among the Russians.

Further, after a CIA engineered Ukranian coup, spearheaded by U.S. operative Victoria Nuland, ousted Russia-friendly Viktor Yanukovych, it became clear that the CIA planned to get Ukraine into NATO. That would put NATO missiles directly on Ukraine’s border with Russia and only 5 minutes travel time to Moscow.

That would automatically put Russian nuclear forces in “ launch on warn” mode, meaning no time to straighten out any mistakes or glitches. That means no brakes on Russia’s retaliation nukes and pretty much the end of the world.

I don’t care how evil the MIC ((Military-Industrial Complex) propaganda machine has convinced you Putin is, if only in the interest of self-preservation, that possibility alone has to give him sleepless nights.

And there are the American HIMARS rocket systems recently delivered to Russian neighbor Poland that could reportedly launch nuclear tipped missiles.

So, yes, he’s almost certainly paranoid.

It seems Mr. Biden understands the situation – – –

Biden Says Risk of Nuclear ‘Armageddon’ Is Highest Since 1962 Crisis – The New York Times

The “1962 Crisis” Biden refers to is the Cuban Missile Crisis when “we” came very close to wiping out all life on earth. So, why doesn’t he do something about it?

For example, once you understand, it’s clear this whole mess could have been quite easily avoided in the first place. And, while not nearly as easily, probably still wound-down even now.

Respected Weapons Inspector Scott Ritter put it something like this: “To avoid the whole Ukraine Fiasco, all Ukraine had to do was to agree not to join NATO.

Choosing Sides in the New Cold War

Posted by M. C. on October 20, 2022

by Ted Snider

Outside the US, UK and Europe, the war in Ukraine looks more complicated than it does in the US. And many of those countries want to reserve the right to remain nonaligned and want to push for a diplomatic solution to the war. It is not true that the US does not ask those countries to choose sides, that it does “not ask any nation to choose between the United States or any other partner.”

antiwar.com

In his September 21 address to the United Nations General Assembly, President Biden said “We do not seek a Cold War. We do not ask any nation to choose between the United States or any other partner.”

It took a lot of courage to make that claim.

On October 5, OPEC+ announced that they were cutting oil production by two million barrels a day. That represents a 2% reduction of the daily global supply, larger than expected and the biggest cut in over two years.

That cut in oil production comes despite Biden’s plea to Saudi Arabia to increase oil production to offset rising prices caused by Russian sanctions and, crucially, boost the efficacy of sanctions on Russia. Biden offered Saudi Arabia an expanded “strategic partnership,” a “commitment to supporting Saudi Arabia’s security and territorial defense,” and a further commitment to uphold Saudi Arabia as the dominant power in the region.

Biden welcomed the pariah kingdom back into the world community in a trade for siding with the US by increasing oil production. He got rejected. And that is when the White House proved that they do ask nations to choose sides: “It’s clear that OPEC+ is aligning with Russia with today’s announcement,” announced White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre.

And there is a penalty for not being on America’s side. Several members of congress have called for the US to respond by putting an end to all US military aid to Saudi Arabia. Senator Bob Mendez, the chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, promised that, because of Saudi Arabia’s “decision to help underwrite Putin’s war,” he “will not green-light any cooperation with Riyadh until the kingdom reassesses its position with respect to the war in Ukraine.” Legislation has been introduced to remove US troops and missile systems from Saudi Arabia and to stop all arms sales to Saudi Arabia. The price that Saudi Arabia will pay is not for its decision’s effect on oil markets or anything other than choosing sides: the military relationship could be restarted if Saudi Arabia “reconsiders its embrace of Putin,” said Senator Richard Blumental and Representative Ro Khanna, describing the legislation they have proposed.

The experience of Saudi Arabia is not an isolated example that refutes Biden’s claim that the US does not ask countries to choose sides.

Dems Move To Transfer Air Defense Systems From Saudis To Ukraine As Punishment

Posted by M. C. on October 17, 2022

After 9/11 these clowns still think SA is our friend. They probably still think Iraq did it.

Now Ukraine is our “friend”. The Middle East doesn’t need a defense industry, they have US (taxpayers).

A group of leading Congressional Democrats are seeking to punish longtime US ally Saudi Arabia for the latest “shock” oil output cuts recently announced by OPEC, which was taken by the Biden administration as a direct slap in the face and shot across the bow.

Senator Chris Murphy and Rep. Ro Khanna are leading the charge to get advanced anti-air missile systems which the Pentagon has stationed in Saudi Arabia removed and transferred to Ukraine. The systems were sent there over the past several years following an uptick in missile and drone attacks by Yemeni Houthi rebel attacks on Saudi cities and energy infrastructure coming from the south.

Sen. Chris Murphy via ABC News

Murphy announced in a Thursday statement, “For several years, the US military has deployed Patriot missile defense batteries to Saudi Arabia to help defend oil infrastructure against missile and drone attacks. These advanced air and missile defense systems should be re-deployed to bolster the defenses of eastern flank NATO allies like Poland and Romania — or transferred to our Ukrainian partners.”

On Ukraine, Democrat and GOP Leadership Agree That War is Good

Posted by M. C. on October 4, 2022

by David Pyne

https://libertarianinstitute.org/articles/on-ukraine-democrat-and-gop-leadership-agree-that-war-is-good/

Over the past seven months, the Biden administration has pursued an increasingly escalatory policy to help Ukraine kill tens of thousands of Russian soldiers, destroy Russian military assets and even attack targets inside Russia itself. As I mentioned in my number one rated article in The National Interest published earlier today entitled “Will American Aid to Ukraine Provoke a Russian Nuclear Strike?”, Biden’s undeclared proxy war against Russia in Ukraine is increasingly likely to provoke the outbreak of an unnecessary World War Three with Russia. Such a war could cost the lives of over 200 million Americans and even more Europeans over Russia’s claim to 6.4% of the territory Ukraine controlled and 2.4 million of its citizens, many of whom have since fled, before the war in the Donbass region. Unbelievably, virtually no elected US leaders or anyone in the liberal mainstream media seems to care whether Biden’s continued policy of national suicide in fighting his undeclared proxy war against Russia in Ukraine ends up provoking a nuclear war with Russia or not. Here is a link to a video interview I gave on September 21st in response to Putin’s proclamation earlier that day that Russia would annex all occupied Ukrainian territory and that he has issued a decree ordering the mobilization of 1.2 million Russian Army reservists which would enable him to increase Russia’s troops in Ukraine by up to five to seven times.

There is a perverse, irrational, and historically unsupportable ideology which has infested the leaders of both major political parties in our nation’s capital of Washington, D.C., causing neoconservative Republicans and liberal internationalists to form an unholy alliance in support of fighting this never-ending war against Russia in Ukraine which is leading America down the primrose path toward a nuclear apocalypse. These U.S. leaders have proven incredibly ignorant and naive, opting to willfully blind themselves and bury their heads in the sand when it comes to the existential threats we face from the Sino-Russian military alliance which has recently achieved supremacy over the U.S. both in terms of nuclear weapons as well as nation-ending super-EMP weapons, which the U.S. does not possess and has no plans to develop. They seem blissfully unaware that the Russian Federation and Communist China could destroy our great nation within a matter of minutes while beating their chest about the need to risk nuclear war with Russia over Ukraine and with China over Taiwan, nations that do not constitute vital national interests and with which the U.S. has no security commitments.

Newly elected British Prime Minister Liz Truss exemplified this collective insanity and insatiable lust for war with Russia when asked whether she would use Britain’s nuclear weapons even if it meant global annihilation and she unthinkingly responded by saying, “Yes, I would” even though she was given no context to the question. Her answer implied that, as British Prime Minister, engaging in a full nuclear exchange with Russia which would destroy the U.K. would be her first consideration rather than a last resort.

Former President Trump has proven to be the most outspoken voice of U.S. national security interests, peace and sanity in both major U.S. political parties. At a rally on January 30th, Trump declared, “Joe Biden’s weakness and incompetence is creating a very real risk of World War III,” the former president said. “Washington is obsessing over how to protect Ukraine‘s border. But the most important border in the world right now for us is not Ukraine‘s border,” he said. “It’s America’s border and we do nothing about it.” “The first duty of the American president is to defend the American border,”

Who’s Winning in Ukraine? George Orwell (and Baghdad Bob)

Posted by M. C. on September 30, 2022

Left wholly unsaid is if the Russians hold the plant and the Ukrainians want it back, exactly which side is doing the dangerous shelling? Are the Russians shelling themselves?

https://libertarianinstitute.org/articles/whos-winning-in-ukraine-george-orwell-and-baghdad-bob/

by Peter Van Buren

Score another point for author George Orwell as his masterwork 1984 continues to serve as an instruction manual for our society.

In the world of the future, war was a constant feature, though the sides changed frequently. Oceania, Eurasia and Eastasia are the three fictional super nation states in George Orwell‘s 1949 dystopian novel. Using the government’s near-perfect control of the media and ability to rewrite history on the fly, whenever an old ally became the new enemy, everything was switched around to make it appear “Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.” Lies were the news. We are close to something similar with Ukraine, where it has become impossible to know who is advancing and who is retreating. The American media has become so entangled with the unreality of the war that Ukraine should have defeated Russia many times over and again by now.

Start with that nuclear plant at Zaporizhzhia. We are told the Russians hold the plant. We are also told by the Ukrainian side that a mass nuclear incident is ready to happen if the shelling of the plant does not cease. UN inspectors are on the ground to tsk tsk over what might happen if more bombs hit the plant and the cooling systems fail. Left wholly unsaid is if the Russians hold the plant and the Ukrainians want it back, exactly which side is doing the dangerous shelling? Are the Russians shelling themselves? Yet even while Ukraine attacks the plant the western media buy into the narrative that it is the Russia who are endangering all of Europe. It makes no sense but then again neither does the phrase “Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia” when you clearly still remember (but dare not say out loud) that last month you were sure the war was not with Eastasia but with Eurasia. And no matter the Russians have held the plant since March. Six months later it is time for this story to surface.

Articles wringing their hands over the danger openly mock our common sense, beginning by saying “The U.S. Embassy in Kyiv was quick to call the shelling of Europe’s largest nuclear power plant a ‘war crime.’” “We survived a night that could have stopped the story, the history of Ukraine, the history of Europe,” said Ukrainian President Zelenskyy. “An explosion at Zaporizhzhia would have equaled ‘six Chernobyls,’” he said, upping the odds by a factor of six with just words. But… but…

We are told the Ukrainians, when not not shelling the nuke plant, are engaged in a titanic offensive to recapture areas to the east previously taken by the Russians. None of it matters in the details, the tiny towns being fought over either strategic points when Ukraine captures them or unimportant hamlets when still held by Russia. Sources for this information are equally mocking, made-for-the-internet organizations like Kyiv Independent (Bodies Exhumed from Mass Grave Show Signs of Violence), The New Voice of Ukraine (World must be ready for Russia’s disintegration), Institute for the Study of War (Russia’s ‘strategic defeat’ could threaten his regime) or Ukrayinska Pravda (Ukrainian forces destroy Russian Mi-8 helicopter and kill over 120 Russian soldiers.) These sources have all the credibility of a late night infomercial — order within the next ten minutes and we’ll double the number of Russians claimed killed! There are also some curious patterns if you watch closely — when Zelensky stopped showcasing photos of kids with guns and old women making Molotovs the Russians stopped targeting “civilians” an apartment complexes.

Zelensky Reveals How Much US Taxpayers Give Ukraine Monthly

Posted by M. C. on September 28, 2022

By Tyler Durden

Zero Hedge

He immediately pivoted to repeating Kyiv’s longtime complaint that it’s not enough – because it’s never enough – though by and large the common American taxpayer seems oblivious amid the onslaught of constant war headlines.

Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky boasted in a CBS “Face the Nation” interview which aired Sunday that Washington is providing him with a whopping $1.5 billion per month for state coffers as the country piles up a large war-time deficit.

“The United States gives us $1.5 billion every month to support our budget to fight” against Russia the Ukrainian leader explained, but pointed out there remains “a deficit of $5 billion in our budget.” He immediately pivoted to repeating Kyiv’s longtime complaint that it’s not enough – because it’s never enough – though by and large the common American taxpayer seems oblivious amid the onslaught of constant war headlines.

Zelensky said, after revealing the astonishing $1.5 billion in aid on a monthly basis figure, “But believe me, it’s not even nearly enough to cover the civilian infrastructure, schools, hospitals, universities, homes of Ukrainians. Why do we need this? We need the security in order to attract our Ukrainians to come back home.”

“If it’s safe, they will come, settle, work here and will pay taxes and then we won’t have a deficit of $5 billion in our budget. So it will be a positive for everybody,” the Ukrainian leader continued. “Because as of today the United States gives us $1.5 billion every month to support our budget to fight- fight this war. However, if our people will come back- and they do want to come back very much, they have a lot of motivation- they will work here.”

“And then the United States will not have to continue, give us this support,” he concluded, though the way things are going it could be years before the US might “not have to continue” the nonstop aid. Zelensky appeared to be trying to present a strange “win-win” for American, though again if average US taxpayers grasped the full enormity of it, they certainly might question that narrative.

Ironically, or tiresomely, just a day after Zelensky complained “But believe me, it’s not even nearly enough”… Congress is poised to push through another $12 billion, according Reuters.

Fox’s Tucker Carlson says, This is insane!
