David Ignatius-Government Shill

Posted by M. C. on October 17, 2011

The people I read have said David Ignatius is the government’s mouthpiece. I haven’t read much of his work, but today’s column in the Erie Times News has me convinced. Ignatius could have written the script for the Arab ambassador murder plot. “Extraordinarily brazen”, “authorized by senior levels of the Quds force”, “We are not going to tolerate…” The same old government grist. What a bunch of crap. This has all the trappings of another cooked up, lying CIA/FBI fiasco. “We knew about it from the beginning, no one was ever in danger”…sounds just like the other pathetic attempt to make us think the government is actually accomplishing something. Ignatius throws in a few references to alleged this or that but it does not mesh with the rest of the piece.

Think about what we are supposed to believe. A fairly sophisticated foreign government group hires an alcoholic car dealer to head up a $1.5M international murder plot against the Saudi ambassador to the US. The hit man is to be recruited from a Mexican drug cartel where, as it was shown, paid informers are commonplace. These are money hungry murderous drug dealers after all. Certainly not the epitome of fidelity and honor. Why would the Iranians buy the services of undesirable foreign scum when they have their own much more reliable, less expensive scum from which to draw? How about making an unencrypted international call TO THE IRANIAN REVOLUTIONARY GUARD to discuss assassinating an Ambassador in Washington DC. Look anywhere besides the lamestream media and you will read this is a transparent effort to rile up anger against Iran.

Why would the administration would pull such a dumb stunt. The first thought that comes to mind is the reflexive kowtowing to Israel, its desire for the USA to invade Iran and the AIPAC money supply.  Perhaps  a more likely reason is the state of the current administration. War means big government growth comes easy under the guise of saving the world. Along with that comes the obligatory reduction of personal liberties.  It permits inflating the money supply without too much guff from the unwashed masses for fear of being labeled an extremist. It takes the mind off of high unemployment, an economy that gets worse the more the government “helps” and a Federal Reserve that ran out of options years ago and hasn’t clue.  War feeds big government as the saying goes.

Why does Mr. Ignatius spew this tripe? Regurgitating government scripted lies is easy work. It keeps him on the good side of the power people. Exhibit some intestinal fortitude, ask the hard question, step on a few toes and you may end up out in the cold. Whatever the reason, paleo-conservatives won’t have to worry about tossing their Garet Garrett library to make room for David Ignatius’ handiwork.
