The Re-Opening of the Swedish Assange Case Should Be Welcomed

Posted by M. C. on May 14, 2019

That the Swedish investigation into the rape allegation against Julian Assange is being re-opened is something that ought to be welcomed. The alternative would be for this accusation to hang unresolved over Julian’s head forever. The Swedish prosecutors now need finally, as my father used to say, either to piss or get off the pot. They need to decide whether there is sufficient evidence to charge or not.

There is no reason for delay. The Swedish police have had seven years to investigate this case and all the evidence has been gathered and all statements taken – the last being the interview of Julian Assange in the Ecuadorean Embassy in 2017. Hopefully to review the evidence and decide whether to charge will not now be a lengthy procedure. It is worth noting, contrary to much misreporting, Julian Assange has never been charged with anything in Sweden.

In the event that Sweden does wish to try to extradite, that should take precedence over the US request. There are three good reasons for this. Firstly, rape is by far the more serious alleged offence. Secondly, the Swedes entered the process many years before the Americans. Thirdly, the European Arrest Warrant is a major multilateral arrangement that is much more important than the discredited bilateral extradition treaty with the USA.

Julian only entered Ecuadorean political asylum because he feared onward extradition to the USA, not extradition to Sweden.

None of the above detracts from the many problems with the Swedish prosecution…

That prosecutor, Marianne Ny, herself decided to close the case in 2013, and was instructed not to by the British Crown Prosecution Service, in a series of emails which the CPS attempted to hide and some of which had been destroyed. Ms Ny also admitted to destroying communications from the FBI, and ultimately admitted to having destroyed the entire case file.

That is before you get to the problems with the Swedish judicial system, where rape trials hear all evidence entirely in secret, there is no jury, and two of the three judges are political party appointees.

Plainly, as always in cases involving Assange, there are plenty of reasons to be concerned about the impartiality of state justice. The United Nations has already condemned the disproportionate sentence given to Assange for breaking bail conditions and his being held in a maximum security prison. It has gone virtually unremarked by the MSM that the Ecuadorean government has, entirely illegally, handed all of Julian’s possessions over to the USA…

Trump’s Trade War is Already Over — Strategic Culture

Posted by M. C. on May 14, 2019

After that the real energy war starts as Russia completes Power of Siberia and begins pumping natural gas to China. And China directs its state oil companies to buy more oil from Iran while lowering its purchases from Saudi Arabia unless the Saudis accept Yuan for it.

That’s where the real leverage in this whole fiasco lies.

Tom Luongo

May 12, 2019

I hate to break the news to China bashers, but the trade war with the US is over. I’ve maintained for months that Trump has no leverage in trade talks with China. If he did China would have done a deal by now.

They haven’t and they likely won’t unless you are talking some form of deal which allows Trump to save face here. But to be honest I’m beginning to doubt whether anyone in the White House cares. This is about the Great Powers Game and the simpleton idea that for one country to win in trade another has to lose.

This is, of course, nonsense.

Trade is not a zero-sum game. Ideally, all voluntary trade is a win-win scenario for both the buyer and the seller. If it wasn’t the trade would not be made. Lost in the numbers is the comparative perceived value of the exchange.

China is still running a massive trade surplus and that is true. But from the perspective of US trade, that is as much a function of Trump’s own profligate spending habits as any structural inequalities.

Trump is running a $1 trillion budget deficit. This is money that is conjured up out of thin air by the miracle of selling bonds. $1 trillion in bonds. Where do you think those $1 trillion in government expenditures goes to?

The moon? Laos?

No. It goes to China. It also finds its way into the US equity market Trump is so in love with and other places that produce goods that we Americans buy with that money. If Trump wants to win the trade war with China he should consider spending a little less money allow consumer prices here in the States to fall and let his tax cuts continue to attract capital for the right reasons – the value the American work force is capable of generating…

Over at my blog recently I noted:

China’s not going to implode over these tariffs. It will give Xi and his central bank the opportunity to devalue the yuan in response to the slower flow of dollars. It has to protect the lion’s share of its trade with Southeast Asia and Europe whose currencies are already in trouble.

And it will bail out the most strategically-sensitive banks and businesses over-exposed to them. It’s what they did last year in response to the 10% tariff and it is what will happen this time.

Lastly, however, is the part no one actually wants to discuss which is that China has to protect its trade with Southeast Asia and Europe. The Yuan didn’t devalue in a vacuum. The euro is down 13% from its high as are currencies like the Indonesian Rupiah, the Malaysian Ringgit and Thai Baht.

What Trump and his team are arguing for in trade negotiation is no different than what they’ve offered Iran and Lebanon, surrender your sovereignty or face punishment.

So, China reciprocates and cuts off US soybeans and other food exports. Now, a year later, Midwest banks are facing surging bankruptcies from farmers hit with the double whammy of no exports to China (who now buys them from Brazil) and massive flooding from an abnormally vicious winter and spring.

They have Trump to thank for this. He didn’t help them by not thinking through how we could be hurt by China’s reaction to his belligerence…

Let’s shift gears now and talk about what’s really going on.

Trump’s team would be fine with a trade deficit if China was still recycling that trade surplus into US Treasury bonds. They aren’t. The Chinese have held their stock of US debt between $1.1 and $1.25 trillion for two years now.

They are sending a lot of those dollars back out into the world to fund their massive Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). They are also using them to power swap arrangements with countries feeling the bite of Trump’s sanctions. Countries like Turkey, Pakistan and Iran, for examples.

To the paranoid schizophrenics who run his White House can only see China rising as a threat not a complement to the US.

Again, these are people with a zero-sum view on trade.

They, like Trump, only see things in terms of power. And if China is running a surplus they are gaining it and we are losing it.

The push to sanction the world and stop the unapproved use of the dollar is beginning to have catastrophic effects on the world economy. People like John Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo don’t care about those things. In fact, the more our ‘enemies,’ as they see them, suffer, the better it is for us. Such is their reductionist view of the world.

In no way do I believe China is somehow blameless or anything. They have taken egregious advantage of the US’s terrible policies for decades. But they are also shifting away from their mercantilist policies as Xi shifts the economy away from exports and towards a domestic consumption model…

After that the real energy war starts as Russia completes Power of Siberia and begins pumping natural gas to China. And China directs its state oil companies to buy more oil from Iran while lowering its purchases from Saudi Arabia unless the Saudis accept Yuan for it.

That’s where the real leverage in this whole fiasco lies…

Canada’s Export Guarantee Program: More Risk for the Taxpayer | Mises Institute

Posted by M. C. on May 13, 2019

Reminds me of the Churchill quote. Never have so few owed so much to so many.

Or something like that.

https://mises.org/power-market/canadas-export-guarantee-program-more-risk-taxpayeru

Eddie Fizor

The CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation) broadcasts select NHL games on Hockey Night in Canada. These are “free” to watch on TV or stream online. “Free” is placed in quotations because the CBC’s advertises that their content services can be streamed for “free” by the public. It is worth noting that the CBC’s annual share of revenue for 2018 was roughly 1.2 billion. Hockey fans may attempt to recuperate their tax dollars by watching as much hockey as possible.

The aforementioned gives context, but it is not the CBC which is the main focus of this article, but a commercial advertisement which is played during CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada.

The advertisement is for Export Development Canada (which is also funded by tax dollars).

A quote from the EDC website:

Our Export Guarantee Program can help your bank provide you with additional access to financing. We share the risk with your bank by providing a guarantee on the money you borrow, encouraging them to increase your access to working capital…

What happens when Export Development Canada steps in to “de-risk” the project? EDC is funded by taxpayers. This means that projects will be undertaken with someone else’s money (the tax payer). Neither the entrepreneur nor the bank will fully bear the risk involved. What if the venture turns sour? EDC explains, “we share the risk with your bank by providing a guarantee on the money you borrow.”

In the end, someone must bear the risk. So, who will it be?

If the entrepreneur utilizes his own funds, then he has a vested interest. This also would apply to a bank acting as lender. The claim that “risk doesn’t stop you,” identifies the  EDC not as “ risk experts,” but as “experts” in promoting risky ventures, underwritten with tax dollars.

Here’s the advertisement which is aired during Hockey Night in Canada:

None of the entrepreneurs in this commercial appear to be concerned with risk. This should be a reason for concern on the part of the viewer. Such ads are misleading and promote a false of reality. The bearing of risk is unavoidable in any entrepreneurial endeavor. Future is uncertain. Resources are scarce.

Man shrugs his shoulders, “30,000 brake pads NO DEPOSIT. I said, why put the brakes on now?”

Indeed, why not? Why demand a deposit for surety? If the deal goes sour, someone else is left paying for your losses. It is easy to make risky decisions when the error of your way does not return upon your own head.

New EU Declaration Mandates Europe ‘Empower’ Children to Help Set Policy Agendas

Posted by M. C. on May 13, 2019

Europe’s future keeps looking better.

It is no wonder Theresa May, Tony Blair and Emmanuel Macron want to stay. They can relate.

https://www.breitbart.com/europe/2019/05/13/eu-empower-children-policy-agenda/

by Virginia Hale

EU nations must “empower” children to participate in “decision-making and policy development” at national and European level, according to a declaration adopted by the bloc this week.

The Bucharest EU Children’s Declaration and Experts’ Supporting Document was adopted at the first ever ‘Children’s Summit’ in order to “guide European leaders” in putting “structured mechanisms” in place to ensure that young minors’ alleged “right” to influence public policy is respected, Brussels-based media reports.

At the event in Romania, whose national government has just taken over the EU rotating presidency, government officials and NGOs stressed that boosting the participation of children in political decision-making was vital to building a “stronger” European Union.

Asserting that participation in decision-making “is one of the fundamental children’s rights”, Romanian Minister of Labour and Social Justice, Marius Budăi, said that he hopes the declaration “will lay out the foundation of a mechanism through which children’s opinion becomes a constant component of decision-making processes at EU level”…

In-Q-Tel: How the C.I.A. morphed into BIG BROTHER

Posted by M. C. on May 13, 2019

In a nutshell, The CIA Is and has been Investing in Firms That Mine Your Tweets and Instagram Photos from the onset.  Why?  To protect you?  Think again.

In-Q-Tel: How the C.I.A. morphed into BIG BROTHER

Dianne Marshall
The Marshall Report

THE MYSTERY “Q” – SOLVED OR NOT – ALL ROADS LEAD TO “In-Q-Tel”. BIGGER THAN BIG  BROTHER!

CIAiqtcia

Q Clearance Anon?  Are people being suckered or just sucked in?  What are the real clues that Q is providing?  It appears to me that the real rabbit hole to go down is that of the data mining wonderland.  I’ll start with Jim Breyer, head of Accel which is an American Venture Capital Firm with partnership to International Data Group named IDG Accel. CLICK here to find out more about IDG-Accel

Breyer invested 13 million dollars into Facebook, the same year Gilman Louie joined the Board of National Venture Capital Association of America (NVCA) who was also the first CEO of the CIAstartup “In-Q-Tel” which is an American Venture capital firm in partnership with IDG Accel.  CIA owns Facebook?

Print

In-Q-Tel is the strategic investor for the U.S. Intelligence and Defense Communities that identifies and adapts cutting edge technologies that (supposedly) make our nation safer.   In-Q-Tel was founded in 1999 for the purpose of funding companies that could develop technologies that the CIAcould — USE TO GATHER DATA.

IQT Labs (short for In-Q-Tel) explore the art of possible emerging technology in areas of interest to national security.  These areas include cyber security, biotechnology, commercial space, and advanced data analytics.  Click her to read about IQT Labs

In a nutshell, The CIA Is and has been Investing in Firms That Mine Your Tweets and Instagram Photos from the onset.  Why?  To protect you?  Think again.

While so much speculation has been placed on “Who is Q Anon?” Q has told the readers that he has the highest security clearance there is.  Everyone runs to the President or someone in his top advisory capacity as the highest clearance so they think one of these must be “Q” .  Meanwhile the agency that even the President can’t dig into is the CIA.  The CIA has grown to be a monster of its’ own making.  A secret deep state society of its’ own.  Meaning although the President can use Military to control it – the CIA appears to have gone rogue and take orders from some place other and can withhold information, even from the West Wing.  We are seeing that now.  It is now proven that the CIA has such secrecy it can even plan the assassination of the Commander in Chief, i.e. the President of the United States as they did to President John F. Kennedy. And get away with it.

Therefore, President Trump, who already communicates with his people daily in Tweets, and can use the emergency broadcast system any time to speak to the people and the world,  would not have to go on Reddit channel and seek a select group of people on line to give clues out hoping they will connect dots and be the next “we the people” CIA????  While there are indeed crumbs and many that only high clearance would know about…. the CIA’s In-Q-Tel is such a source, and a much more likely one.

SAUDI AP_17142467002109-780x547REMEMBER when President Trump visited Saudi Arabia, King Salman showed him the mother of all “terrorist finding” cyber technology.  Remember also CIA is Mossad.  Mossad was the House of Saud. CIA is In-Q-Tel.  King Salman arrested the House of Saud. What does this new cyber technology hold?  What is President Trump holding?  What can it do?  What does President Trump think of this new artificial intelligence?  What do you think of this?  What is CERN?

I believe all dots connect and point to Q-Annon as being CIA’S In-Q-Tel.  Why?  To use a new form of data mining that I shall call – effective trolling.  Approach alternative media truth seekers in their own (secret) forum – 4-Chan.  Come in like one of them to do some real time data mining.  Why?  They could want to find what type of  “I- Q’s” human critical thinkers have by playing real time data finding games with real live people?  Is “Q” an artificial program?  Or a real person?

What does “Q” (high level clearance person) have to gain by throwing out bread crumbs?  What does “In-Q-Tel” have to gain by throwing out bread crumbs?

  1. To see what people know?
  2. Analyze how fast people can analyze clues?
  3. Find out how truth researchers think things through – know their thought processes?
  4. See how many people will research and how many will rely on others to find answers?
  5. See how fast people lose interest if answers aren’t found fast?
  6. See how many are discouraged and how long it takes to discourage certain groups?
  7. See how long it takes the last one to get discouraged if nothing is forthcoming?
  8. See how many remain if any, in the end?
  9. See if anyone finds the real “Q” and how long it will take?
  10. Lure other alternative news seekers into one hub?
  11. Data mine the hub?
  12. Find out who listens to them and who their followers are?
  13. Size up strengths and weaknesses?
  14. Infiltrate and classify researchers into groups?
  15. Identify those who really know and those who don’t know?
  16. Find who is capable of finding the real threats to their secrecy?
  17. Allow people to bla, bla, bla and reveal the things their algorithms can’t detect?
  18. Take the information and use it against them with their paid disinformation agents?
  19. See who and how many will do what they are asked by “Q” without knowing who “Q” is?
  20. Create disinformation wars among credible people?

I am sure there are more reasons, these are the ones just off the top of my head.  Before you laugh, remember they (In-Q-Tel) are already data mining everything you say on Google, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and all social media sites…

TWO Saudi oil tankers were hit by a “sabotage attack” off the United Arab Emirates, it was announced this morning – as tensions flare between the US and Iran.

Posted by M. C. on May 13, 2019

Dumb ‘ol Iran.  What a convenient time to stage an attack, just when Bolton and Pompeo ‘suggest’ such a thing may happen.

Rather convenient for John Bolton and McDonnell Douglas.

Oh wait…we don’t really know who staged the attack…wink, wink.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9060525/saudi-oil-tanker-sabotage-us-iran/

The ships were struck off the coast of the port of Fujairah – with one of the tankers due to be loaded with Saudi crude oil bound for the United States.

Saudi energy minister Khalid Al-Falih revealed the tankers suffered “significant damage” – although it was unclear what the attack involved.

He said: “Fortunately, the attack didn’t lead to any casualties or oil spill; however, it caused significant damage to the structures of the two vessels.”

Trading and shipping sources identified the Saudi ships as Bahri-owned very large crude carrier (VLCC) tanker Amjad and crude tanker Al Marzoqah.

A huge US naval presence has built up in the Gulf over recent days amid a fevered standoff between Washington and Tehran.

US intelligence revealed Iran was on the verge of carrying out offensive action to disrupt and attack American and partner interests in the region.

It led to the deployment of US aircraft carriers, Patriot missiles and B52 bombers over recent days…

Bolton Is Spinning Israeli ‘Intelligence’ to Push for War Against Iran

Posted by M. C. on May 13, 2019

The United States is in danger of falling for yet another war ruse as malignant as those that led Congress and the mainstream media to accept the invasion of Iraq or the Gulf of Tonkin resolution.

https://www.truthdig.com/articles/bolton-is-spinning-israeli-intelligence-to-push-for-war-against-iran/

Gareth Porter

John Bolton has gotten away with a dangerous deception. The national security adviser’s announcement Sunday that the Pentagon has deployed air and naval forces to the Middle East, which he combined with a threat to Iran, points to a new maneuver to prepare the ground for an incident that could justify a retaliatory attack against Iran.

Bolton presented his threat and the deployments as a response to alleged intelligence about a possible Iranian attack on U.S. targets in the Middle East. But what has emerged indicates that the alleged intelligence does not actually reflect any dramatic new information or analysis from the U.S. intelligence community. Instead, it has all the hallmarks of a highly political case concocted by Bolton.

Further underscoring the deceptive character of Bolton’s maneuver is evidence that senior Israeli national security officials played a key role in creating the alleged intelligence rationale for the case.

The new initiative follows an audacious ruse carried out last fall by Bolton and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, detailed in Truthdig in February, to cast the firing of a few mortar rounds in the vicinity of the U.S. embassy and a consulate in Iraq as evidence of an effort by Tehran to harm U.S. diplomats. Bolton exploited that opportunity to press Pentagon officials to provide retaliatory military options, which they did, reluctantly.

Bolton and Pompeo thus established a policy that the Trump administration would hold Iran responsible for any incident involving forces supported by Iran that could be portrayed as an attack on either U.S. personnel or “interests.”…

Trump Is Being Set-up for War with Iran – PaulCraigRoberts.org

Posted by M. C. on May 13, 2019

The war that Bolton and Netanyahu are preparing to spring on Trump is likely to be much larger than they think.

https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2019/05/12/trump-is-being-set-up-for-war-with-iran/

Paul Craig Roberts

Trump destroyed his chance at being a successful president by the stupid appointments he has made.  At the moment he is being set up by his national security advisor John Bolton and Israel for a war with Iran.

Using the same format of lies that was used against Iraq, Libya, Syria, and Venezuela, Bolton has accused Iran of “troubling and escalatory indications” of a forthcoming Iranian attack on American forces in the Middle East.  To help protect against the attack, Bolton has ordered Patriot missile batteries, an aircraft carrier strike group, and a bomber strike force to the region.

Even the Israeli newspaper, Haaretz, pointed out that Bolton failed to identify the “troubling and escalatory” Iranian actions.  https://www.haaretz.com/us-news/u-s-sends-patriot-missiles-to-the-middle-east-to-counter-iranian-threats-1.7221997  No one else has seen any sign of them.

The reason for the Patriot missiles is not to deter Iran from an attack, but to prevent successful Iranian response to an attack on Iran.

This is the likely situation:  The deal between the Washington Ziocons and Netanyahu is that either Israel will attack an American ship or whatever is selected, and it will be blamed on Iran, thus forcing Trump to “defend America” and retaliate, or Israel using American disguise will attack Iran, thus provoking a response from Iran.

Iran is already on hair trigger from having been provoked excessively by Washington withdrawing from the Iranian nuclear agreement, reimposing sanctions, and making endless false accusations against Iran, as Washington has done against Russia, Syria, Iraq, Libya, Venezuela, Yemen.  It wouldn’t take much more to set off Iranian emotions.

Trump is clearly set-up.  If Bolton and Netanyahu want the US at war with Iran, it is their call…

US Special Forces Command Issues New Guide For Overthrowing Foreign Governments | Zero Hedge

Posted by M. C. on May 13, 2019

https://www.zerohedge.com/news/2019-05-11/us-special-forces-command-issues-new-guide-overthrowing-foreign-governments

by Tyler Durden

No kidding – this is not our headline, but Newsweek’s: “US Special Forces School Publishes New Guide For Overthrowing Foreign Governments” – and as far as we can tell they are the only major mainstream outlet to have picked up on the fact that the US military is now essentially openly bragging on past and future capabilities to foster covert regime change operations.

The 250-page study entitled “Support to Resistance: Strategic Purpose and Effectiveness” was put out by the Joint Special Operations University under US Special Operations Command, which is the Army’s official unified command center which overseas all joint covert and clandestine missions out of MacDill AFB, Florida.

Via “Rare Historical Photos”: The CIA sent 2,300 Stinger missiles to various mujahedin outfits throughout Afghanistan over the course of the Afghan-Soviet war.

“This work will serve as a benchmark reference on resistance movements for the benefit of the special operations community and its civilian leadership,” the report introduces.

The study examines 47 instances of US special forces trying to intervene in various countries from 1941-2003, thus special attention is given to the Cold War, but it doesn’t include coups which lacked “legitimate resistance movements” — such as the case of ‘Operation AJAX’ in 1953 which overthrew Iran’s democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh.

Though infamous disasters such the abortive CIA-backed Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba are highlighted, the US military report (perhaps predictably) finds that among those nearly fifty covert interventions surveyed, most interventions were “successful”… Read the rest of this entry »

Silicon Valley Giants Collaborate With The US Government On Venezuela – Caitlin Johnstone

Posted by M. C. on May 13, 2019

https://caitlinjohnstone.com/2019/05/11/silicon-valley-giants-collaborate-with-the-us-government-on-venezuela/

Whenever you speak out on a public forum against internet censorship, like the recent Instagram/Facebook banning of Louis Farrakhan, Infowars, and several right-wing pundits, you always offend two major political groups. The first group are the power-serving authoritarians who identify with the left side of the political spectrum; they argue that it’s good and right to trust Silicon Valley plutocrats to regulate political speech on giant monopolistic platforms. The second group are the capitalism cheerleaders who believe there’s a free market solution to every problem; they argue that these Silicon Valley giants are private companies which are completely separate from the government, so it’s not accurate to refer to what they do with their own property as censorship.

Is that really true, though? Is it really accurate to claim that these sprawling corporations that nobody’s been able to compete with are simply private companies, separate and distinct from the government of the nation they’re based in? If you look at their behavior, it certainly doesn’t seem like it.

The US government is working to topple the government of Venezuela and replace it with a puppet regime. On the off chance that you were still in denial of this self-evident fact, check out this April 24th fact sheet on the website for the US embassy in Brazil which openly boasts about the way economic and diplomatic pressures are being deliberately placed on the Venezuelan government to install Washington puppet Juan Guaido to the nation’s leadership. Trump’s National Security Advisor has blatantly threatened that the US will starve the families of Venezuelan military officers if they don’t overthrow their government, right there on Twitter.

This is a known, unconcealed US government agenda. And the Silicon Valley giants are actively facilitating it.

For example, as highlighted by journalist Max Blumenthal, if you go to Google and look up Venezuela’s embassy in Washington, DC, the result you get looks like this:

Google lists Venezuela’s ambassador to the US as Carlos Vecchio, who has no governmental power and no authority to issue Venezuelan passports, because he represents no actual government but rather the puppet government that the US is attempting to install. Google has no reason to refer to this US government propaganda construct as “Ambassador”, but it does so anyway in support of the US government’s aggressive campaign to replace the Venezuelan government staff in the DC embassy with the staff of its imaginary puppet regime.

Google, by the way, has been financially intertwined with US intelligence agencies since its very inception when it received research grants from the CIA and NSA for mass surveillance. It pours massive amounts of money into federal lobbying and DC think tanks, has a cozy relationship with the NSA, and has been a military-intelligence contractor from the beginning.

With Wikipedia, whose leadership allows it to serve as a narrative management operation for the US-centralized empire, it’s the same thing. Look up Juan Guaido, who has no actual political power and no authority whatsoever in Venezuela, and this is what you’ll see:

It’s been that way since January.

With Twitter it’s the same. During and immediately after the April 30th failed coup attempt in Venezuela the site suspended numerous Venezuelan government accounts, some permanently, and earlier this year Twitter deleted the accounts of nearly 2,000 pro-Maduro users. In 2017 we saw the same, with thousands more pro-Maduro accounts deleted. Nothing comparable has ever happened with the governments of US-allied nations.

With Facebook we’ve seen the pages of Venezuela Analysis and TeleSUR English temporarily suspended, along with the permanent deletion of “inauthentic” Venezuelan, Iranian and Russian accounts in conjunction with Twitter. Facebook’s censorship program is directed by the Atlantic Council narrative control firm, which is funded by the governments of the US and its allies.

There is no legitimate reason for these massive Silicon Valley corporations to be acting in the interests of US State Department agendas, and yet here they are doing exactly that.

Friendly reminder that in an October 2017 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, senators spoke with top legal and security officials for Facebook, Twitter and Google in a very disturbing way about the need for a Ministry of Truth to silence dissenting voices. Democratic Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii demanded that the companies adopt a “mission statement” declaring their commitment “to prevent the fomenting of discord.”

Think tank narrative manager and former FBI agent Clint Watts kicked it up even further, saying, “Civil wars don’t start with gunshots, they start with words. America’s war with itself has already begun. We all must act now on the social media battlefield to quell information rebellions that can quickly lead to violent confrontations and easily transform us into the Divided States of America.”

“Stopping the false information artillery barrage landing on social media users comes only when those outlets distributing bogus stories are silenced — silence the guns and the barrage will end,” Watts added.

These corporations are not separate from the US government in any meaningful way, and their behavior is therefore no better than the state censorship we commonly see US government officials decrying in the governments of non-allied nations. It’s arguably worse in some ways, because at least the Chinese know their government is censoring them.

In a corporatist system of government, where there is no meaningful separation between government power and corporate power, corporate censorship is state censorship. The US Constitution protects its citizenry from government censorship, but they remain completely unprotected from the brand of corporate censorship we’re seeing today which functions in precisely the same way. Whoever controls the narrative controls the world, and they’re using corporate censorship to control the narrative.

Our world’s fundamental problem is that the people calling the shots are omnicidal sociopaths, and the only force capable of stopping them, the collective will of the public, is too thoroughly propagandized to do so. The narratives are too tightly controlled, so the people don’t rise up against the oppressors who are driving them toward extinction via climate chaos or nuclear war. We won’t make it as a species if we can’t find a way to overcome this.
