Davos Man and Open Borders | Chronicles

Posted by M. C. on January 28, 2022

Arguably, the organization’s most toxic slogan, spawned by a quickly deleted promo video, is: “You will own nothing. And you’ll be happy.” The saying orginated in a WEF think piece, published by Forbes in 2016, entitled: “Welcome To 2030: I Own Nothing, Have No Privacy, And Life Has Never Been Better.

You could say Parag Khanna is the quintessential “Davos Man.” This silver spoon globe-trotter, a specialist in globalization, wants to change the world forever, openly advocating a mix-and-match “Civilization 3.0” under a decentralized world government. And he couldn’t care less how you feel about it.

The term “Davos Man” was coined by Harvard political scientist Samuel Huntington in a 2004 article entitled “Dead Souls: The Denationalization of the American Elite.” Huntington said that these people made up a very small percentage of Americans and were transnationalists who “have little need for national loyalty, view national boundaries as obstacles that thankfully are vanishing, and see national governments as residues from the past whose only useful function is to facilitate the elite’s global operations.”

Parag Khanna certainly fits the description. He wants to see young people in the global South move en masse to the decrepit North. He wants technocratic elites to manage this human flow using digital passports, artificial intelligence analysis, and top-down social engineering. He wants to erase national borders and re-map the planet according to infrastructure connectivity. He wants mega-cities to come alive with smart sensors and our bodies to swarm with nanobots.

Most of all, Khanna dreams of a “Great Migration.” This would emerge from the “Great Lockdown” that we’ve already seen and the “Great Reset” yet to come. But a brief survey of the American landscape shows that Khanna’s dream of a “Great Migration” is already coming true. It has been since at least the 1960s, in a chaotic piecemeal way.

“I believe we will go from nearly zero migration in 2020 to a re-sorting of billions of people in the unfolding post-pandemic era,” Khanna told a Skift Global Forum interviewer last August.

Khanna’s use of World Economic Forum (WEF) buzzwords such as “Great Reset” and its permutation “Great Migration” is no coincidence. He worked for the organization in Switzerland from 2000 to 2002, and continues to be a top WEF agenda contributor. Having been properly groomed in his formative years, he traveled the world on generous publisher advances, passing judgment from on high along the way.

Unsurprisingly, his prolific output reflects the mentality in Davos, Switzerland, where the WEF gathers: aloof, technocratic, and totally out of touch with normal human emotions. Khanna is aligned with international interests over national allegiance. He exudes intellectual superiority and utter indifference to a traditional sense of the sacred. He may not hold the levers of power directly, but he certainly has the ear of many who do.

Russia and the West: Piercing the Fog of Hysteria — Strategic Culture

Posted by M. C. on January 28, 2022

The fatal mistake committed by Brussels in 2014 was to force Kiev o make an impossible choice between Europe and Russia.

The Mongols separately conquered vast swathes of China, Russia and Iran. Centuries after Pax Mongolica, what an irony that the new pact of steel between these top three Eurasian actors is now an insurmountable geopolitical obstacle, smashing all elaborate plans by a bunch of trans-Atlantic historic upstarts.

https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2022/01/26/russia-and-west-piercing-fog-of-hysteria/

A specter haunts the collective West: total zombification, courtesy of an across-the-board 24/7 psy ops imprinting the inevitability of “Russian aggression”.

Let’s pierce the fog of hysteria by asking Ukrainian Defense Minister Reznikov what’s going on:

“I can absolutely say that to date, the Russian armed forces have not created a strike group that could make a forceful invasion of Ukraine.”

Well, Reznikov is obviously not aware that the White House, with access to arguably privileged intel, is convinced that Russia will invade “any-minute-now”.

The Pentagon doubles down: “It’s very clear the Russians have no intention right now of deescalating”. Thus the necessity, expressed by spokesman John Kirby, of readying a multinational NATO response force (NRF) of 40,000 troops: “If it is activated…to defeat aggression, if necessary”.

So “aggression” is a given. The White House is “refining” military plans – 18 at the last count – for all manners of “aggression”. As for responding – in writing – to the Russian proposals on security guarantees, well, that’s far too complex.

There is no “exact date” when it will be sent to Moscow. And the proverbial “officials” have begged their Russian counterparts not to make it public. After all, a letter is not sexy. Yet “aggression” sells. Especially when it may happen “any-minute-now.”

“Analyst” hacks are yelling that Putin “is now almost certain” to deliver a “limited strike” in “the next ten days”, complete with an attack on Kiev: that configures the scenario of an “almost inevitable war”.

Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Council Committee on International Affairs, prefers to get closer to reality: the U.S. is preparing a provocation to push Kiev to “reckless actions” against Russia in the Donbass. That ties in with foot soldiers of the Luhansk People’s Republic reporting that “subversive groups prepared by British instructors” arrived in the area of Lisichansk.

Luminaries such as the European Commission’s Ursula von der Leyen, NATO’s Jens Stoltenberg and “leaders” from the UK, France, Germany, Italy and Poland announced, after a video call, that “an unprecedented package of sanctions” is nearly ready if Russia “invades”.

They billed it as “international unity in the face of growing Russia hostility”. Translation: NATOstan begging Russia to please invade a.s.a.p.

Of the EU 27, 21 are NATO members. The U.S. rules over the whole lot. So when the EU announces that “any further military aggression against Ukraine would have very serious consequences for Russia”, that’s the U.S. telling NATO to tell the EU “what we say, goes”. And under this strategy of tension environment, “what we say” means applying raw, imperial Divide and Rule to keep Europe totally subjugated.

The West’s fatal mistakes

One should never forget that Maidan 2014 was an operation supervised by Obama/Biden. Yet there’s still plenty of unfinished business – when it comes to bogging down Russia. So the viscerally Russophobic War Party in D.C. now has to pull all stops ordering NATOstan to cheerlead Kiev to start a hot war – and thus trap Russia. Zelensky The Comedian even went on the record wanting to “go on the offensive”.

So time to release the false flags.

The indispensable Alastair Crooke has outlined how “‘encirclement’ and ‘containment’ effectively have become Biden’s default foreign policy.” Not “Biden”, actually – but the amorphous combo behind the earpiece/teleprompter-controlled puppet I have been designating for over a year as Crash Test Dummy.

Crooke adds, “the attempt to cement-in this meta-doctrine currently is being enacted out via Russia (as the initial step). The essential buy-in by Europe is the ‘party-piece’ to Russia’s physical containment and encirclement.”

“Encirclement” and “containment” have been exceptionalist staples, under various guises, for decades. The notion entertained by the War Party that it’s possible to carry both across a three-way-front – against Russia, China and Iran – is so infantile to render any analysis idle. It does call for a drink and a good laugh.

As for extra sanctions for the imaginary “Russian aggression”, a few benevolent souls had to remind Little Tony Blinken and other “Biden” combo participants that Europeans would be much more lethally affected than Russians; not to mention these sanctions would turbo-charge the collective West’s economic crisis.

A short recap is essential to frame how we ended up mired in the current hysteria swamp.

The collective West blew the chance it had to build a constructive partnership with Russia similar to what it did with Germany after 1945.

The collective West also blew it when reducing Russia to the role of a minor, docile entity, imposing that there’s only one sphere of influence on the planet: NATOstan, of course.

And the Empire blew it when it targeted Russia even after it had allegedly “won” against the USSR.

During the 1990s and the 2000s, instead of being invited to participate in the construction of the “common European home” – with all its glaring faults – post-Soviet Russia was forced to be outside looking in on how this “home” was upgraded and decorated.

Contrary to all the promises made to Gorbachev by assorted Western leaders, the traditional Russian sphere of influence – and even former USSR territory – became objects of dispute in the looting of the “Soviet heritage”: merely a space to be colonized by NATO’s military structures.

Contrary to Gorbachev’s hope – who was naively convinced that the West would share with him the benefits of “the dividends of peace” – a hardcore Anglo-American neoliberal model was imposed over the Russian economy. Added to the disastrous consequences of this transition was the sentiment of national frustration by a society that was humiliated and treated like a vanquished nation in the Cold War, or WWIII.

That was Exceptionalistan’s fatal mistake: to believe that with the USSR vanishing, Russia as a historic, economic and strategic reality would also disappear from international relations.

The new pact of steel

And that’s why War Inc., the War Party, the Deep State, however you wanna call them, are freaking out now – big time.

They dismissed Putin when he formulated a new paradigm in Munich in 2007 – or when he returned to the Kremlin in 2012.

Putin made it very clear that Russia’s legitimate strategic interests would have to be respected again. And that Russia was about to recover its de facto “veto rights” in managing world affairs. Well, the Putin doctrine was already being implemented since the Georgian affair in 2008.

Ukraine is a patchwork of morsels that belonged until recently to different empires – Austro-Hungarian and Russian – as well as several nations, such as Russia, Poland and Romania. It regroups Catholicism and Orthodoxy, and has millions of ethnic Russians and Russian speakers with deep historical, cultural and economic links with Russia.

So Ukraine was a de facto new Yugoslavia.

The fatal mistake committed by Brussels in 2014 was to force Kiev as well as the Ukrainian population as a whole to make an impossible choice between Europe and Russia.

The inevitable result would have to be Maidan, completely manipulated by American intel, even as Russians clearly saw how the EU switched from the position of honest broker to the lowly role of American chihuahuas.

Russophobic U.S. hawks will never renounce the spectacle of their historical adversary bogged down in a slow-burning fratricidal war in the post-Soviet space. As much as they will never renounce Divide and Rule imposed over a discombobulated Europe. And as much as they will never concede “spheres of influence” to any geopolitical player.

Without their toxic imprint, 2014 could have played in quite a different manner.

To dissuade Putin to restore Crimea to its rightful place – Russia – it would have taken two things: for Ukraine to be decently managed after 1992, and not to force it to choose the Western camp, but to make it a bridge, Finland or Austria-style.

After Maidan, the Minsk agreements were as close as possible to a viable solution: let’s end the conflict in Donbass; let’s disarm the protagonists; and let’s re-establish control of the borders of Ukraine while providing real autonomy to Eastern Ukraine.

For all that to happen, Ukraine would have needed a neutral status, and a double security guarantee, by Russia and NATO. And to render the association agreement between Ukraine and the EU compatible with the close links between Eastern Ukraine and the Russian economy.

All that would have perhaps configured a European vision of decent future relations with Russia.

Yet the Russophobic Deep State would never allow it. And the same applied to the White House. Barack Obama, that cynical opportunist, was too engulfed by the dodgy Polish context in Chicago and not free from the exceptionalist obsession with deep antagonism to be able to build a constructive relationship with Russia.

Then there’s the clincher, revealed by a high-level U.S. intel source.

In 2013, the late Zbigniew “Grand Chessboard” Brzezinski was presented with a classified report on Russian advanced missiles. He freaked out. And responded by conceptualizing Maidan 2014 – to draw Russia into a guerrilla war then as he had done with Afghanistan in the 1980s.

And here we are now: it’s all a matter of unfinished business.

A final word on the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. In the 13th century, the Mongol Empire established its suzerainty over Kievan Rus – that is, over the Christian orthodox principalities that correspond today to northern Ukraine, Belarus and part of contemporary Russia.

The Tartar yoke over Russia – from 1240 to 1552, when Ivan The Terrible conquered Kazan – is deeply imprinted in Russian historical consciousness and in the debate about national identity.

Is Democracy Dying or America Disintegrating? – LewRockwell LewRockwell.com

Posted by M. C. on January 28, 2022

And, again, if the preconditions of democracy are vanishing, and the preconditions of nationhood are disappearing, is not secession of some kind inevitable and even desirable?

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2022/01/patrick-j-buchanan/is-democracy-dying-or-america-disintegrating/

By Patrick J. Buchanan

“What do we mean by the Revolution? The war? That was no part of the revolution; it was only an effect and consequence of it. The revolution was in the minds of the people.”

What did John Adams mean when he wrote this to Thomas Jefferson in 1815, after both had served as president?

Adams was saying that America, the country that took up arms and fought for its independence from the British, was already a nation — before 1775.

America preexisted the Constitution, Adams is saying. America had been conceived and born before he and Jefferson began to write its Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia in 1776. America had come into being even before Lexington and Concord in 1775.

A corollary of what Adams wrote is that America, and the republic created by the Constitution, are not the same thing.

While America is a country, a republic is the form of government created for that country in Philadelphia in 1787.

“A republic if you can keep it,” said Ben Franklin to the lady who had asked what kind of government they had created for the already existing nation, when he emerged from that constitutional convention.

What, then, are our elites bewailing when they say that populists, rightists and Trumpists have put “our democracy” at risk?

Answer: It is not America the country or America the nation they are referring to, but our political system as it has evolved.

And what is the nature of the threat they see?

A precondition of democracy is that the results of elections be recognized and respected, and if repeatedly challenged, this is a mortal threat. And this is the present peril.

Yet, there are other preconditions, not only for democracies but for countries, that were enumerated in The Federalist Papers:

“Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people — a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs … ”

“This country and this people seem to have been made for each other, and it appears as if it was the design of Providence, that an inheritance so proper and convenient for a band of brethren, united to each other by the strongest ties, should never be split into a number of unsocial, jealous, and alien sovereignties.”

John Jay was describing the preconditions of a nation, a country, a people. Do these preconditions still exist in America?

“One united people”? “A band of brethren”? A common ancestry, common religion, common language, common customs and manners?

That may describe the America of 1789. Does it describe the America of 2022? Or does Jay’s phrase, “a number of unsocial, jealous and alien sovereignties,” better describe the America of today?

Hillary Clinton once wrote off half of Trump’s supporters, nearly one-fourth of the nation, as “a basket of deplorables … racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamaphobic … bigots,” who are “irredeemable.”

Assume that our elites, who often echo what Hillary Clinton said of the populist Trumpist right, agree with her.

Why would virtuous liberals wish to continue in political association with people like this? Why would they not declare that, if an election again delivers rule to such people, we want no part of the system or polity that produced so intolerable an outcome?

Why would the capture of all three branches of government by people such as Hillary Clinton describes not be cause for dissolving the Union?

How could democracy be a superior form of government, if it could deliver the republic to people such as these, and perhaps twice?

If the progressives’ enemies are “Nazis” and “fascists,” why would progressives not rise in resistance and reject their rule, rather than cooperate with them in the governance of the country?

Why would good people not battle to overturn an election that produced a majority for such “deplorables”?

Do the commands of democracy take precedence over the demands of decency? Rather than govern in concert with people like this, why not get as far removed from them as possible?

The point here: Not only may the preconditions of democracy be disappearing, but the preconditions of nationhood may be disintegrating.

Again, the American right is today routinely compared to Nazis, fascists and Klansmen. Why would good liberal Democrats accept an electoral victory and future rule by Nazis and fascists rather than seek to overturn it, by whatever means necessary?

And how do you hold up American democracy as a model to mankind if, after two centuries, it has produced scores of millions of citizens like those described by Hillary Clinton?

And, again, if the preconditions of democracy are vanishing, and the preconditions of nationhood are disappearing, is not secession of some kind inevitable and even desirable?

Ultimately, the logic of our situation must lead us to consider something like this. Western Maryland’s attempt to secede and join West Virginia, and Eastern Oregon’s attempt to secede and join Idaho, may be harbingers of what is to come.

How evil do you have to be to suddenly pull treatment from ailing Florida COVID patients? – American Thinker

How evil do you have to be to suddenly pull treatment from ailing Florida COVID patients?

https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2022/01/how_evil_do_you_have_to_be_to_suddenly_pull_treatment_from_florida_covid_patients.html

By Monica Showalter

Is Joe Biden trying to top the vile, cruel record of blue-state governors such as New York’s Andrew Cuomo, who seeded COVID patients into the nursing homes?

It sure looks like it, given his strange, sudden, and absolute shutdown of monoclonal antibody treatments on patients who are being successfully treated with the therapy in Florida.  For vulnerable, sick people waiting in line for it, including those right up to the date of scheduled treatment, tough luck — go to the back of the line, and see if you can find some other treatment, and hope your COVID does not progress to the morgue.

That’s what Joe Biden is offering Florida, a red state that voted against him in 2020, that maybe, just maybe, he’d like to punish a little, not just for not voting for him, but to erase its record of success on COVID.  He seems to be out to punish Florida by ensuring that Florida’s COVID death count ascends to those of his favored blue states.  Whatever Joe’s motive here, there are no honorable answers as we explore this.

According to Fox News:

The Florida Department of Health announced that it is closing all monoclonal antibody treatment sites in the state after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration rescinded emergency-use authorizations for two particular treatments for COVID-19.

The FDA announced on Monday that it is no longer permitting the use of bamlanivimab and etesevimab (used together) as well as the combination of casirivimab and imdevimab known as REGEN-COV, or Regeneron.

“Unfortunately, as a result of this abrupt decision made by the federal government, all monoclonal antibody state sites will be closed until further notice,” the Florida Department of Health said in a statement.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has spoken out about this outrage, which stinks to high heaven:

“Without a shred of clinical data to support this action, Biden has forced trained medical professionals to choose between treating their patients or breaking the law,” DeSantis said in a statement. “This indefensible edict takes treatment out of the hands of medical professionals and will cost some Americans their lives. There are real-world implications to Biden’s medical authoritarianism — Americans’ access to treatments is now subject to the whims of a failing president.”

No clinical data.  A sudden yanking, with zero time for patients to make alternate treatment arrangements.  A bizarre claim that the treatments don’t work, despite Florida’s record of success.  A death sentence to many.

Russian FM: US Did Not Give ‘Positive Response’ to NATO Expansion Concerns – News From Antiwar.com

Posted by M. C. on January 28, 2022

https://news.antiwar.com/2022/01/27/russian-fm-us-did-not-give-positive-response-to-nato-expansion-concerns/

by Dave DeCamp

On Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said the US’s written answers to Moscow’s security proposals did not contain a “positive response” to the issue of NATO expansion.

“There is no positive reaction in this document on the main issue. The main issue is our clear-cut position on the inadmissibility of NATO’s further eastward expansion and the deployment of strike armaments that may threaten the territory of the Russian Federation,” Lavrov said, according to Russia’s Tass news agency.

The US and NATO both submitted their proposals to Russia on Wednesday night. The full contents of the documents have not been made public, but Secretary of State Antony Blinken and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said NATO’s “open door” policy would not change.

Lavrov said that while the NATO concerns are not addressed, the US response makes it possible for the two powers to begin a “serious talk” on secondary issues, such as arms control and missile placement in Eastern Europe.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made similar comments and said that Russia “cannot say that our thoughts have been taken into account or that a willingness has been shown to take our concerns into account.” Peskov said there’s still room for dialogue with the US, but that the response left “little ground for optimism.”

Lavrov said Russian President Vladimir Putin will now decide on what the next steps are and how Russia will respond to the US. Blinken said Wednesday that he expects to meet Lavrov again “in the coming days” to continue talks on the security issues.

Censorship
Neil Young pulls music catalog from Spotify over “deadly misinformation about COVID”Neil Young Neil Young / photo by Tore Sætre, Creative Commons
After issuing an ultimatum, Canadian-American rock icon Neil Young is leaving Spotify. Earlier this week, he demanded the streaming giant remove his music unless it axes Joe Rogan from the platform, citing the podcaster’s amplification of COVID “misinformation.” In a since-removed open letter to Spotify and his record label, Young said, “They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.”

“I am doing this because Spotify is spreading fake information about vaccines – potentially causing death to those who believe the disinformation being spread by them,” Young said.

After a day of silence, Young posted on his website Wednesday that both he and his label, Warner Brothers Reprise, are willing to take a financial hit — Spotify reportedly accounts for 60% of Young’s streaming revenue. The six-decades-long performer added that allowing content like Rogan’s to stream is “lies being sold for money.”

This isn’t the first time Spotify has been challenged. Earlier this month, a reported 270 doctors and experts criticized the service for similar reasons.

Spotify confirmed it is in the process of removing Young’s entire catalog but hopes this isn’t the end. “We regret Neil’s decision to remove his music from Spotify, but hope to welcome him back soon.”

The Fed Has No Real Plan, and Will Likely Soon Chicken Out On Rate Hikes | Mises Wire

Posted by M. C. on January 28, 2022

The idea that “wages are going up” whenever there is inflation is rather fanciful.

https://mises.org/wire/fed-has-no-real-plan-and-will-likely-soon-chicken-out-rate-hikes

Ryan McMaken

The Fed’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) released a new statement today purporting to outline the FOMC’s plans for the next several months. According to the committee’s press release:

With inflation well above 2 percent and a strong labor market, the Committee expects it will soon be appropriate to raise the target range for the federal funds rate. The Committee decided to continue to reduce the monthly pace of its net asset purchases, bringing them to an end in early March. Beginning in February, the Committee will increase its holdings of Treasury securities by at least $20 billion per month and of agency mortgage‑backed securities by at least $10 billion per month. The Federal Reserve’s ongoing purchases and holdings of securities will continue to foster smooth market functioning and accommodative financial conditions, thereby supporting the flow of credit to households and businesses.

The lesson here is that even when inflation is high and the labor market is supposedly strong, the Fed will still only proceed toward tapering and tightening in the slowest, most cautious manner possible.

Although price inflation is at a forty-year high, the Fed is still unwilling to commit to a rate hike in March, and it’s planning to only end new asset purchases for its balance sheet by March. The Fed still refuses to acknowledge any connection between inflation and the incredibly large amounts of money creation and credit creation it fostered over the past decade and especially over the past two years. After all, in its statement, the Fed emphasized that “supply and demand imbalances related to the pandemic and the reopening of the economy have continued to contribute to elevated levels of inflation.”

All of this, however, only amounts to what the Fed is willing to say right now. The “plans” outlined here are no more than the stated, tentative plans for the FOMC. Whether or not any of this actually happens is another matter.

The Fed Is Prepared to Turn More Dovish at the First Sign of Trouble

Indeed, the Fed’s fear and lack of backbone was much more clearly emphasized in Jay Powell’s Q&A with reporters, which followed the release of the FOMC’s statement.

During the presser, Powell repeatedly emphasized that the Fed must remain flexible and that the targeted policies could change at any time, depending on the economic situation. “We need to be adaptable,” he said, and managed to include the typical dovish remarks when he stated that really the current goal with the balance sheet is—at some point—“allowing the balance sheet to begin to run off.” Although the press released mentioned movement toward quantitative tightening for the balance sheet, Powell repeatedly downplayed this in the Q&A.

So, while some news reports covering the Fed’s announcements today appear to conclude that the Fed will surely begin raising rates in March, that remains very much up in the air. And beyond that, the lack of focus on the balance sheet in Powell’s remarks suggested that the Fed is still very much only at the stage of merely contemplating an end to new additions to its portfolio. Actual reductions are still not on the table.

Indeed, it still looks like we’re looking at a repeat of 2016, when the Fed claimed it was going to implement four rate hikes that year. Only one rate hike actually occurred. Anticipated rate hikes based on Fed signals also failed to appear in 2019, when Fed wathers at Goldman and JP Morgan predicted four Fed hikes that year. What actually happened was one rate hike (from 2 percent to 2.25 percent), followed by rate cuts later in the year. That’s likely what Powell is referring to when he says the Fed must be adaptable and flexible. It must be prepared to become even more dovish at any given time.

The Fed Admits Price Inflation Is Actually a Problem

In any case, politically, it is clear that the Fed has been feeling the pressure on price inflation. The Fed has clearly now abandoned its position—expressed repeatedly last fall—that inflation is “transitory” and no big deal. Powell today admitted price inflation “hasn’t gotten better. It’s probably gotten a bit worse … I think to the extent the situation deteriorates further, our policy will have to address that.”

Powell also stated what has long been obvious about price inflation—namely that it hurts the lowest-income people in the population. “Some people are just really prone to suffer more” from inflation, Powell said. He noted that inflation for the wealthy can be unfortunate, but that “it’s particularly hard on people with fixed income and low income.” It’s hard on people with lower incomes, of course, because those people have to spend a higher percentage of their incomes on food, gasoline, and other basic necessities. Many can’t afford to be homeowners—thanks to easy-money-fueled asset price inflation—and so must keep up with rising rents.

This, of course, pours cold water on all those columns from financial columnists in recent months who have been repeatedly penning articles on how price inflation is actually good for most everyone because when there’s inflation, debtors repay their debts in devalued dollars. That narrative, of course, is based on the myth that it’s lopsidedly ordinary people and lower-income people who benefit from devaluing debt payments. In reality, inflation tends to favor people and organizations with more wealth and higher incomes because it’s those people who are most able to access large loans on favorable terms. Much of the time, people with few assets and low incomes can’t get loans at all. Or they can obtain these loans at much higher interest rates which greatly reduce the benefits of paying off debts with devalued dollars.

One example of this is a column by Allison Morrow last month in which she wrote:

But on the whole, inflation can actually be a good thing for many working-class Americans, especially those with fixed-rate debt like a 30-year mortgage. That’s because wages are going up, which not only empowers workers but also gives them more money to pay down debt. Plus, in the case of a mortgage, your monthly payment will be the same but your house will increase in value…

Neocon stench is not confined to the sweaty flatulence of Bill Kristol’s writing chambers. Yes it’s true that neocons at AEI and Brookings and Heritage and The Free Bacon, etc are all to be expected. It’s like going to the zoo and looking into the chimp enclosure: you expect to see chimps and so you see chimps. But imagine going to the marmoset enclosure and also seeing chimps. Hmmm…what’s going on here? We didn’t expect to see chimps here.

We’ve never had high hopes for the Beltway “libertarian” dogs who dutifully abide the intellectual leashes of their (pay)masters. There are some good pups out there and I’m the last guy to kick someone for trying to earn a buck while retaining as much integrity as possible given the rotten situation.

But come on, man! CATO Institute has hired that wretched neocon freak Cathy Young as a senior fellow?

Cathy Young that “Russiagate” dead-ender (holding on to the lie longer than anyone on earth except for Adam Schiff). Yes, she has a few quibbles with those low-born blue unwashed who viewed the Steele Dossier as a kind of Dead Sea Scroll detailing Trump’s potty-philia, but…but… but…wait! – as she writes herself: don’t get bogged down in the salacious, man, there’s plenty of good evidence that all of it’s true! There’s plenty of evidence that, as disgraced CIA thug Mike Morrell famously lied, Trump is an “agent of the Russian Federation.”

Forget the Steele Dossier, Young wrote, there are…

…plenty of reasons to investigate, from Trump’s just-kidding-or-maybe-not public invitation to Russia to hack into his rival Hillary Clinton’s emails to the fact that his campaign was swarming with people who had ties to Russia or to pro-Russia forces in Ukraine. And let’s not forget that later on, Trump acted in ways that stoked suspicion — such as firing FBI director James Comey, openly admitting that he did it to stop the Russia investigation, and bragging about it in a private meeting with top-level Russians.

Come on, people! Get with the pogrom!

“Libertarian” Cathy Young is no doubt pleased as punch that journalist Julian Assange is rotting away in a British prison for the “crime” of reporting the truth. After all, she still professes the laughable lie that the Russians hacked Hillary Clinton’s computer and publicized her private information via Wikileaks!

She wrote:

…there is little question that the Kremlin meddled in the election with the goal of hurting Hillary Clinton’s chances. Mainly, this was accomplished by stealing Democratic National Committee and Clinton campaign emails and releasing them via Wikileaks.

Little question? There is NO EVIDENCE! For normal people that means BIG QUESTION.

But that doesn’t work for Cathy Young. She has an agenda and she’s just sure that Putin is infecting our precious bodily fluids.

Why is the CATO Institute hiring “experts” who espouse the most outlandish conspiracy theories?

Before his untimely death just over two years ago, Antiwar.com founder Justin Raimondo nailed the anti-libertarian, interventionist duplicity of the rotten Cathy Young:

While distancing herself from the ‘more extreme‘ anti-Russian narratives, which she admits are conspiracy theories with little evidence to support them, Young weaves a ‘moderate’ conspiracy theory of her own – with just as little evidence to support it. She claims that the Russians are supporting the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party of Greece, and Hungary’s ‘quasi-fascist’ Jobbik movement, although no evidence of this is presented. She says in several instances that the National Front party of France’s Marine Le Pen is a Russian front: her ‘evidence’ is that a Russian bank with ‘links to the Kremlin’ provided the party with a loan. One wonders if, say, a British bank (with undefined ‘links’ to Westminster) loaned money to an America political party, would that make them a tool of Perfidious Albion

Who needs actual evidence, anyway, when writing about Russia? After all, as computer security expert Jeffrey Carr points out, there is exactly zero public proof that the Russians ‘hacked’ the 2016 elections – and yet the media ‘reports’ this as undisputed fact.

So what really motivates Cathy Young to hate Russia – the land of her birth – so much? It is her own anti-Christian bigotry (hardly a live-and-let-live libertarian attitude). As the cover art for her cover story about Russia betrays, Young and Reason are the antithesis of libertarians in that they despise anyone with values different than their own.

In fact they represent an even more Stalinist intolerance than their caricature of Putin!

They are the Soviets they pretend to despise.

If Russians who have re-established their freedom of choice (a libertarian concept) after 70 years of communist government-forced atheism decide of their own free will to return to the Christianity established in Kievan Rus by the Apostle Andrew, they must be punished for their choice.

That is the essence of Cathy Young and Reason…and now CATO.

For Cathy Young and the Reason/CATO crowd, libertarianism and liberalism shares a lot in common with Soviet communism: you are free to choose as long as you choose the ideological vanguard which will ultimately rule history for all time.

Cathy Young is a rigid communist and everything she writes should be laughed at. CATO should be forced to eat its own barf.

Bipartisanship: US House Races MASSIVE Ukraine Weapons Transfer to the Floor! – LewRockwell LewRockwell.com

Posted by M. C. on January 27, 2022

The Clinton/Blinken US state department is hell bent on war. Neither the pentagram nor Ukraine are worried about Russia.
Don’t be surprised when the “false flag” waves.

“Said Ukrainian Defense Secretary Alexey Danilov:
As of today, we don’t see any grounds for statements about a full-scale offensive on our territory. It’s even physically impossible… Maybe, [seeing Russian troops] is an oddity to our foreign partners who finally saw that there are Russian forces and they move a certain way.”

In Washington the global US military empire is a bipartisan affair. With a trillion dollar yearly military budget, there are plenty of opportunities for both the position and the opposition parties to thrust snouts deeply into the trough.

While Ron Paul was in Congress and GW Bush was president, we did a good deal to craft a bipartisan antiwar coalition in opposition to the Iraq war and other Bush-ite neocon misadventures.  Then Obama was elected and pursued the same policies of global military empire – but with a better smile – and our coalition disintegrated. Suddenly the Democrats (with a couple of exceptions) were uninterested in the antiwar issue.

Such is the case now, when Obama’s great “success” – the US-led coup in Ukraine – is back in the headlines. Now Obama’s second fiddle is “in charge” of things and those under him who pull the levers are determined to solidify their “great achievement” of peeling Ukraine away from its neighbor and dropping that basket-case into the lap of Brussels and Washington. So for the past five weeks they have been ginning up the idea that Russia is about to invade Ukraine – even when Ukraine’s own defense secretary is practically laughing at Washington’s breathless assertions.

Said Ukrainian Defense Secretary Alexey Danilov:

As of today, we don’t see any grounds for statements about a full-scale offensive on our territory. It’s even physically impossible… Maybe, [seeing Russian troops] is an oddity to our foreign partners who finally saw that there are Russian forces and they move a certain way.

It must be comical for Russia to sit back and watch the US Keystone Kops at the helm of foreign policy blunder and bluster, with Biden’s press secretary insisting that a Russian invasion of Ukraine is “imminent” even as the Ukrainians – who are in a position to know and also in a position to benefit if it was true – pour cold water on the Biden war-fear-porn.

But when it comes to Fed-generated counterfeit money, Congress is always ready to sprinkle plenty around to their favorite causes – usually war and corporatism.

That is why House Democrats are desperately trying to ram through a massive “free weapons” bill for Ukraine before the current lapdog media-driven “RUSSIA INVASION” propaganda dies down.

Just as Big Pharma is rushing to put a new omicron variant vaccine on the market before their Covid gravy train dies out, Washington’s Democratic warmongers (with plenty of Republican fellow travelers) are rushing to send half a billion dollars in weapons to Ukraine before the casual MSM consumer learns (they’re always last to know) that the whole “Russia is about to invade Ukraine” cook-up is another lie.

US military aid overseas is corporate welfare for US Beltway weapons manufacturers who in turn kick back millions to fund pro-war politicians and more millions to fund pro-war “think tanks” who warn us that there are Reds under every bed and that we need to spend moar moar moar!

As The Intercept reports, Pelosi is worried that the “RUSSIA IS INVADING” panic will wear off too soon, so she is “looking to skip marking up the bill and move it straight to the House floor, setting up the possibility of a vote as soon as early next week.”

Angry to be left out of the fleecing of America for foreign interests frenzy, Republicans are racing to offer more of our money to protect the borders of corrupt Ukraine (while foreign invaders are given the red carpet treatment on our borders):

Republicans have offered their own measures. Earlier this month in the House, Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, the lead Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, introduced the Guaranteeing Ukrainian Autonomy by Reinforcing its Defense Act, a companion bill to a measure sponsored by Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chair Jim Risch, R-Idaho. The bill would give Ukraine $450 million from the State Department’s FMF account and impose sanctions related to the Nord Stream 2 project immediately, without waiting for an escalation as in the Democrats’ bill.

Only $450 million? Come on Republicans! Surely you can do better to flush our money down the foreign policy toilet! Slackers!

As the great Pat Buchanan once said, “Our two parties have become nothing but two wings of the same bird of prey.”

Indeed, Mr. Buchanan. Indeed!
