Calling Someone Without Texting Them First Officially Classified As A Hate Crime

Posted by M. C. on February 23, 2021

https://babylonbee.com/news/supreme-court-upholds-ban-on-calling-someone-without-texting-them-first

U.S.—An appeals court judge in Texas has ruled this week that calling someone without first texting them to see if you want them to call you is officially a federal hate crime.

In the decision handed down on the case Mason v. Metfield, the court upheld a lower court’s ruling that calling someone without just hitting them up with a text, or else just not contacting them at all, fits the federal definition of a cruel, hate-filled crime that is motivated by malice and being really annoying.

While many people have opposed the category of “hate crime” or else feel the term is used too liberally, the ruling has proven to be extremely popular, with over 98% of Americans saying they agree with the judge’s decision.

“Calling someone without texting them first is hereby declared a hate crime,” said the judge solemnly as he banged his gavel down. “May anyone who does this be torn apart by rabid wolves, fed to the wolves, put back together using the miracle of modern medicine, and then have the process repeated.”

“And may God have mercy on his soul — eh, or not. It’s cool with me if God wants to show no mercy. That’s His prerogative. I’m not telling God how to do His job or anything, but if it were up to me, that guy would be a goner.”

EconomicPolicyJournal.com: What Bill Gates is Really Up To

Posted by M. C. on February 23, 2021

“I have no problem with a guy making investments wherever he wants, that is the American way. But when such an investor attempts to sway governments to move the entire world, through regulation, in a direction that will benefit him that is a different story. It appears we are at the “different story” stage when it comes to Bill Gates.”

No doubt the plan is to turn the land into producing crops that will be the ingredients of the fake hamburgers that he says rich countries must adopt.

Look for climate lockdown.

https://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2021/02/what-bill-gates-is-really-up-to.html

Bill Gates is out with a new book, How to Avoid a Climate Disaster: The Solutions We Have and the Breakthroughs We Need.

He is hitting the talk show circuit promoting the book and the idea that the planet is headed for a major climatological disaster that will end the human species.

Setting aside as to whether or not there is some climatological disaster developing, Gates’ book should really be named “How I Plan to Make Even More Billions By Getting Governments to Fund Every Mad Scheme I Have Invested In”.

Gates would like for you to think of him as the sweater-wearing billionaire next door.

The only association he lists on his LinkedIn page is the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

In reality, he is running vast enterprises in many sectors of the economy.

He has invested in a company that is trying to produce lab-made “breast” milk.

He is now the owner of more farmland than anyone else in the United States:

No doubt the plan is to turn the land into producing crops that will be the ingredients of the fake hamburgers that he says rich countries must adopt.

Since he runs his operations privately, it is difficult to know everything he is invested in but it appears that everything he is promoting that is visible (along with his demands for government action) is usually tied up with massive personal investments made by him.

One sector where he has vast investments, that may be too difficult to hide since he has brought on too many billionaire buddies as partners, is the energy sector. With so many partners, something might leak so he is being a bit transparent about his investments.

He even mentions offhandedly his energy enterprise, Breakthrough Energy, in his new book and reports how he roped in his billionaire pals to join him, curiously, just before the Paris Agreement was signed:

In September, two months before the Paris conference started, I emailed two dozen wealthy acquaintances, hoping to persuade them to commit venture funding to complement the government’s new money for research. Their investments would need to be long-term – energy breakthroughs that can take decades to develop – and they would have to tolerate a lot of risk. To avoid the potholes that the venture capitalists had run into, I committed to help build a focus team of experts who would vet the companies and help them navigate the complexities of the energy industry.

I was delighted by the response. The first investor said yes in less than 4 hours. By the time the Paris conference kicked off two months later, 26 more had joined, and we had named it the Breakthrough Energy Coalition. Today, the organization now known as Breakthrough Energy includes philanthropic programs, advocacy efforts, and private funds that have invested in more than 40 companies with promising ideas.

Note he is clearly talking about investments here and not non-profit donations.

So just who might be in this group that Gates summoned via email to send checks?

Breakthrough Energy lists as among its investors:

  • Jeff Bezos, (founder of Amazon and owner of The Washington Post)
  • Saudi billionaire HRH Prince Alwaleed bin Talal
  • Michael Bloomberg, founder and owner of Bloomberg News
  • Richard Branson
  • The manager of the largest hedge fund in the world, Ray Dalio
  • Reid Hoffman, co-founder of Linked-In
  • Abigail P. Johnson, chairman of the parent company of the Fidelity mutual fund company
  • Jack Ma of Alibaba Group
  • David Rubenstein of The Carlyle Group
  • Ben & Lucy Ana Walton (WalMart)

It is quite the list. With this group as part of his investment team, he has some pretty serious players who now have an incentive to not promote a narrative about climate change that is different from that of Gates.
Oh, and by the way,  Breakthrough Energy has ten senior “policy advocates.” Yes, ten, including the following who are all Washington D.C. based:

  • Allison Zelman, Director, U.S. Policy and Advocacy, has worked in three Presidential cycles, in senior roles on the Hillary Clinton campaign and both Obama Presidential campaigns. She founded the Obama Alumni Association and lives in Washington, D.C.
  • Conor Hand, Manager, U.S. Policy and Advocacy, among other work has done stints with Bernie 2016, and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative.
  • Robin Millican, Director, U.S. Policy and Advocacy, was a senior strategy consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton.
  • Abigail Regitsky, Senior Associate, U.S. Policy and Advocacy, was professional staff for the majority on the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis
  • Cristina Shoffner, Associate, U.S. Policy and Advocacy, worked as policy advisor to U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow and Senate Democratic Leadership and prior to her Senate work, she was appointed to the White House Council on Environmental Quality under President Obama.

Got the picture? From this one Gates operation alone, there is a massive high-level influence operation promoting the Gates “the world is coming to an end” theme with a slew of billionaires backing the operation.
Here are the firms Breakthrough Energy has publicly disclosed it has investments in:

  • 1366 Technologies, a solar wafer company
  • 75F, a smart sensor company
  • Arnergy, replaces foosil fuel generators with modularized solar +lithium ion storage systems in emerging markets
  • Baseload Capital, invests in sustainable heat power plants
  • Biomilq, cultured breastmilk production
  • Boston Metal, produces steel with less CO2 emissions
  • C16, produces sustainable alternatives to palm oil using biotechnology
  • Carbon Cure, decarbonizes concrete
  • CommonWealth Fusion Systems, fusion energy
  • DMC,  microbial fermentation
  • enVerid, an air quality company
  • ESS, specializes in a “cleaner future”
  • Fervo Energy, a geothermal energy company
  • Form Energy, long duration energy storage
  • KoBold Metals, increases “ethical” supply of battery storage
  • Lilac Solutions, transforming lithium production from brine resources to enable exponential growth of electric vehicles
  • Malta, grid scale energy storage
  • Max, building technology infrastructure and financial services for urban mobility in Africa
  • Motif, A food ingredients company offering sustainable alternative proteins and ingredient solutions for innovative food producers
  • Natel Energy, Delivering sustainable, reliable, renewable energy from moving water with innovations that restore and reconnect watersheds
  • Natures Fynd, a food tech company producing a new-to-the-world sustainable protein
  • Pachama, unlocking the full potential of forests to remove carbon using AI and satellites
  • Pivit Bio,  a new source of nitrogen for regenerative agriculture
  • Quantumscape, reinventing the battery for electric vehicles
  • Quidnet, powers the carbon-free electric grid with long duration Geomechanical Pumped Storage
  • Redwood, building a sustainable future by creating circular supply chains, turning waste into profit and solving the environmental impacts of new products.
  • Sierra Energy, “The path to zero waste”
  • Source, perfect water for every person in every place by making drinking water an unlimited resource around the world.
  • SparkMeter offers grid-management solutions that enable utilities in emerging markets to run financially-sustainable, efficient, and reliable systems.
  • ZeroAvia, “the first practical zero-emission aviation powertrain.”

Just take a look at the above list again, Gates has every possible anti-fossil fuel angle covered.
Every time, he is promoting his climate disaster theme because of fossil fuels, he is pushing spending in the direction of the companies above.
I can’t even imagine the amount of money he is pumping into these companies with his crony buddies. Remember, Gates alone is worth $129 billion. It would be nothing for him to pump in a billion dollars on his own. Combined with his buddies, it must be an enormous amount of money.
And who knows what Gates has invested in other sectors where he feels no pressure to disclose.
I have no problem with a guy making investments wherever he wants, that is the American way. But when such an investor attempts to sway governments to move the entire world, through regulation, in a direction that will benefit him that is a different story. It appears we are at the “different story” stage when it comes to Bill Gates.

EconomicPolicyJournal.com: Prepare for the Coming “Climate Lockdowns”

Posted by M. C. on February 23, 2021

Three obstacles to overhaul must be removed, she says, “business that is shareholder-driven instead of stakeholder-driven, finance that is used in inadequate and inappropriate ways, and government that is based on outdated economic thinking and faulty assumptions.” She is really talking about fascist economics, where governments set the policies of “private” sector firms:

https://www.economicpolicyjournal.com/2021/02/prepare-for-coming-climate-lockdowns.html

AOC with Mariana Mazzucato

Do you think it can’t get much worse than COVID-19 lockdowns?

Think again.

An establishment-connected lefty professor says that in “the near future, the world may need to resort to lockdowns again — this time to tackle a climate emergency.”

“Under a ‘climate lockdown,’ governments would limit private-vehicle use, ban consumption of red meat, and impose extreme energy-saving measures, while fossil-fuel companies would have to stop drilling,” writes Mariana Mazzucato, a professor at the Economics of Innovation and Public Value Center at University College London, in a paper titled “Avoiding a Climate Lockdown.”

The title of her paper is very misleading. She believes climate lockdowns will be necessary unless we “overhaul our economic structures and do capitalism differently.”

[G]overnment assistance to business must be less about subsidies, guarantees, and bailouts, and more about building partnerships. This means attaching strict conditions to any corporate bailouts to ensure that taxpayer money is put to productive use and generates long-term public value, not short-term private profits…Because markets will not lead a green revolution on their own, government policy must steer them in that direction. This will require an entrepreneurial state that innovates, takes risks, and invests alongside the private sector.

From The New York Times:

Her message has appealed to an array of American politicians. Senator Elizabeth Warren, Democrat of Massachusetts…has incorporated Dr. Mazzucato’s thinking into several policy rollouts, including one that would use “federal R & D to create domestic jobs and sustainable investments in the future” and another that would authorize the government to receive a return on its investments in the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Mazzucato has also consulted with Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Democrat of New York, and her team on the ways a more active industrial policy might catalyze a Green New Deal…

Even Republicans have found something to like. In May[2019], Senator Marco Rubio of Florida credited Dr. Mazzucato’s work several times in “American Investment in the 21st Century,” his proposal to jump-start economic growth. “We need to build an economy that can see past the pressure to understand value-creation in narrow and short-run financial terms,” he wrote in the introduction, “and instead envision a future worth investing in for the long-term.”..

[A] charismatic figure in a contentious field that does not generate many stars — she was recently profiled in Wired magazine’s United Kingdom edition…Her ideas…are finding a receptive audience around the world. In the United Kingdom, Dr. Mazzucato’s work has influenced Jeremy Corbyn, leader of the Labour Party, and Theresa May, a former Prime Minister, and she has counseled the Scottish leader Nicola Sturgeon on designing and putting in place a national investment bank. She also advises government entities in Germany, South Africa and elsewhere. “In getting my hands dirty,” she said, “I learn and I bring it back to the theory…

[S]he pointed at an announcement on her laptop. She had been nominated for the first Not the Nobel Prize, a commendation intended to promote “fresh economic thinking.” “Governments have woken up to the fact the mainstream way of thinking isn’t helping them,” she said, explaining her appeal to politicians and policymakers. A few days later, she won.

The world is full of economists with very bad ideas but Mazzucato’s central planning ideas are among the worst. She is filled with ideas that would result in the harassment of individuals and independent businesses. Combine this with the following she is garnering and it makes her extremely dangerous.

bionic mosquito: The Priestly Caste

Posted by M. C. on February 23, 2021

What happens when this priestly class figures out that humans need an artificial god to worship, to go along with the artificial intelligence that have created? Something above the priest – not hidden, but to be known?

http://bionicmosquito.blogspot.com/2021/02/the-priestly-caste.html

Jonathan Pageau had a conversation with Dr. Paula Boddington, who has done work in the field of developing a code of ethics for artificial intelligence.  A few excerpts….

———————————

We are the Priests

Of the Temples of Syrinx

Our great computers

Fill the hallowed hall

Artificial intelligence is creating a new priestly class.  AI – the making of a body that can host intelligence.  This is the work of God…or the gods.  We sacrifice to that creator-god, we trust it – Google, Facebook, the algorithm, etc.  It is the leaders, the tech elites, of these entities that are the new priestly caste; the will of the god manifests itself through them – these priests.

The priestly caste informs the people, telling them to look at the god – look to the statue, look to the AI.  AI is giving power to this priestly group.  The culture war is a war for what comes up first in a search on google.

What happens when this priestly class figures out that humans need an artificial god to worship, to go along with the artificial intelligence that have created?  Something above the priest – not hidden, but to be known?

———————————

We’ve taken care of everything

The words you read

The songs you sing

The pictures that give pleasure

To your eye

How is it that tech companies are bringing about the Kafka state – the insane, bureaucratic, communist, totalitarian state; you don’t even know who to talk to, there is no human on the other end of the line, you don’t know how to appeal.  They game the system by making all of the rules opaque.

I have been thinking about this recently.  Are the tech companies more powerful than state governments?  On the one hand, it seems the answer is yes.  Except that the state can, at any time, crush the tech companies – break these up, destroy the wealth of the founders, etc.

The power remains with the state.  The state uses these tech companies.  Bribes are paid, via central banking largesse, driving up the net worth of the tech elites; these elites know the game.  The stand at attention, knowing that at any moment the multi-billions, tens-of-billions, and even hundreds of billions could be gone tomorrow if they decide not to play the game.

———————————

One for all and all for one

Work together

Common sons

Never need to wonder

How or why

Boddington: Intelligence is the capacity to reach your goals – that intelligence is just instrumental, utilitarian.  It is just used to maximize or increase happiness.  It fits into an Enlightenment ideal of reason – we are making progress, a Steven Pinker type view.

Pageau: I actually don’t mind that way of seeing intelligence – the capacity to reach your goals.  It’s just that there are higher goals and there are lower goals.  The materialist, Steven Pinker world is after the lower goals – the world of whims and desires, pleasures and pain.  Whereas virtue and the good, in the Christian or Platonic sense, is actually the goal – the goal of reality.

Which brings me back to the end, purpose, or telos for man.  What are we made for?  If our entire purpose is to achieve material gain and superficial pleasure, we have arrived.  There is no meaning crisis if we have achieved a life that gives us meaning.  But this isn’t the case.

There are the higher virtues – faith, hope, and love.  Love: fulfillment through other-regarding action; beatitudo.  Intelligence – more precisely, wisdom, is the capacity of using reason to achieve these goals.

———————————

Yes, we know

It’s nothing new

It’s just a waste of time

We have no need for ancient ways

Our world is doing fine

I can’t help but think of C.S. Lewis’s book, The Abolition of Man.  Man has spent the last four hundred years working to conquer nature.  I would have been pretty happy if we just stopped at air conditioning.  But the progress (toward what end…we shall see) is continuing.

From Lewis:

They [the Conditioners – the elite] are not men at all.  Stepping outside the Tao [Natural Law], they have stepped into the void.  Nor are their subjects [us] necessarily unhappy men.  They are not men at all: they are artefacts.  Man’s final conquest has proved to be the abolition of Man.

The end that we are progressing toward is the abolition of man.

Conclusion

I can’t believe you’re saying

These things just can’t be true

Our world could use this beauty

Just think what we might do

What stops this progress?  Nuclear Armageddon is one possibility.  Destroying man’s will through the destruction of meaning is another.  Maybe success by artificial intelligence ethics experts like Dr. Boddington is another.

I hope it is not either of the first two (although each one currently holds a very strong position), and I am certain it will not be the third.  There is only one possibility: we return to the focus on the higher values, and recognize that there is a source of these higher values, a source above man, higher than man, untouchable by man.

Again, from Lewis:

… [the Tao, natural law] is not one among a series of possible systems of value.  It is the sole source of all value judgements.  If it is rejected, all value is rejected.

The human mind has no more power of inventing a new value than of imagining a new primary colour, or, indeed, of creating a new sun and a new sky for it to move in.

A dogmatic belief in objective value is necessary to the very idea of a rule which is not tyranny or an obedience which is not slavery.

Or, as Murray Rothbard notes:

…the natural law provides the only sure ground for a continuing critique of governmental laws and decrees.

Coca Cola Confirms Training Employees ‘Try To Be Less White’

Posted by M. C. on February 23, 2021

The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Salon, and Washington Post have no coverage of this.

All the top sites plus Coca-Cola all want to sweep this under the rug.

Mish

Feb 22, 2021

Is Coca Cola sponsoring racism? That’s the claim. You be the judge.

‘Try To Be Less White’

When I first saw this story I was highly skeptical.

However, the training course is available online and Coca Cola is doing its best to try to back down from the course.

Here’s the course Confronting Racism, with Robin DiAngelo

In this course, Robin DiAngelo, the best-selling author of White Fragility, gives you the vocabulary and practices you need to start confronting racism and unconscious bias at the individual level and throughout your organization. There’s no magic recipe for building an inclusive workplace. It’s a process that needs to involve people of color, and that needs to go on for as long as your company’s in business.

The free into above does not show the ending slide “Try to be less white” but what you can see is galling enough.

The video Tweet by @DrKarlynB shows more of the damning slides.

Coca-Cola Whitewash

Backlash

Late Sunday evening NewsWeek reported Coca-Cola, Facing Backlash, Says ‘Be Less White’ Learning Plan Was About Workplace Inclusion

Coca-Cola, facing mounting backlash from conservatives online, has responded to allegations of anti-white rhetoric after an internal whistleblower leaked screenshots of diversity training materials that encourages staff to “try to be less white.”

A Coca-Cola spokesperson confirmed that the course is “part of a learning plan to help build an inclusive workplace,” but also noted that “the video circulating on social media is from a publicly available LinkedIn Learning series and is not a focus of our company’s curriculum.”

Coca-Cola Logo

The Coca-Cola logo is on training snapshots in the video Tweet.

If Coca-Cola did not authorize and pay for the the training, the slides would not have their logo, Karlyn would be in deep legal trouble, and Twitter would have removed the Tweet.

Who in the hell is reviewing their training materials?

Candance Owens

Best selling author Candance Owens had this to say.

Owens is Founder of the @BLEXIT  organization. “Black people don’t have to be Democrats— still.”

Coke Is Racist

The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Salon, and Washington Post have no coverage of this.

All the top sites plus Coca-Cola all want to sweep this under the rug.

Why Trump Nearly Won

Please recall Politically Correct Educators Vote to Rename 44 SF Schools Including Washington and Lincoln

Also note The Dumbing Down of America is Poised to Accelerate.

If you are looking for a reason why millions of people voted for Trump, look no further.

I intended to do a post on why Trump nearly won but this post will suffice.

Every bit of this is a complete outrage. It is why Trump won in 2016. Had he toned things down a bit in 2020 he probably would have been reelected.

Anonymous Comment From a Reader

It is all over universities now to the extreme. People lose their jobs without any due process if they say anything out of line with the accepted dogma even if you say it outside of work.

Corporations are following along as they have to for PR and marketing purposes.

A serious Trump could have spoken out against this and tried to bring people along to a sensible consensus. Instead, he played to the base and turned of people who might have been won over. Polls shows that most Americans do not like the Politically Correct or cancel culture but they are being run over by the diversity and inclusion masters.

This is like a mixture of McCarthyism and the Cultural Revolution in China. There are some quotes from Orwell that describe perfectly the erasure of history and the felling of statues.

San Francisco is changing the names of school from Washington and Lincoln.

This is getting out of hand and it is destructive.

Face Mask, Money, State, and Human Stupidity – LewRockwell

Posted by M. C. on February 23, 2021

…the so-called experts’ notorious about-face on masks this past March. Having said for weeks that face coverings do not stop transmission of the virus, Anthony Fauci, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Surgeon General, and others, did a 180 virtually overnight.

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2021/02/fernando-chiocca/790793-2/

By Fernando Chiocca

It’s summer. The heat on the streets of São Paulo is over 90°F. Without a facial mask, it’s hard enough to breathe. Nevertheless, 98 per cent of people are wearing facial masks (I do a mental accounting of this percentage every day). They pass by me and I see the torment they’re going through. Many squealing under the cloth that clog his breath, with sweat dripping down his forehead. In addition, these people don’t even lower their masks to leave their noses or mouths out. They spend the days, the weeks pass, the months… It’s been almost a year, and I can’t settle for the daily repetition of this abnormal scene – with varying climates, of course, sometimes a torrential rain and there’s the unfortunate under the umbrella wearing his facial mask. Sometimes it’s the only human being on a deserted street… and he’s wearing his facial mask.

The scenario is shocking to any thinking being, although the masses do not realize and seem to have assimilated an abnormality as something normal. If many people do something abnormal, the abnormal does not become normal, but only common. What is common may not be normal. And obstructing your breathing and hiding your face for no reason is definitely abnormal.

Not only is there no evidence that mask use by the general population reduces virus infection, but there is also no deadly pandemic virus to avoid. The data is available to everyone. Covid-19 was touted as being highly fatal, an existential threat, but it soon emerged that its mortality rate was very low. As Donald J. Boudreaux reported in this article,

COVID-19 INFECTION SURVIVAL RATES (per CDC)

Ages 0-19:    99.997%
Ages 20-49:  99.98%
Ages 50-69:  99.5%
Ages 70+:     94.6%

Seasonal Flu Infection Survival Rate (for population as a whole): 99.90%

This single slice of information should be sufficient to put Covid-19 in proper perspective. It makes plain that the risk that this disease poses to humanity as a whole does not differ categorically from the risk of seasonal flu – or, for that matter, from any of the many other perils that we humans routinely encounter. And because these figures show the estimated chances of survival of those who are infected with Covid, even for persons 70 years of age or older Covid obviously is not a categorically unique threat.

And yet, again, humanity has reacted to Covid in a manner categorically unique. It’s as if a hornet rather than a honeybee found its way into our home, and so to protect ourselves from the somewhat-more-threatening invader we commenced to frantically scour every room of our home with a flamethrower.

These data are confirmed by comparing the concrete result of the year of the “deadly pandemic” with other years: there was no increase in deaths outside the normal increase from one year to the next. And the numbers are available for anyone who wants to see. In fact, what happened was an unprecedented and inexplicable dramatic decrease in the number of deaths from other causes – an indication that probably many deaths attributed to such a virus were actually due to these other causes. Obviously, every death is something to regret, but the fact is that the vast majority of deaths of this disease are from people of age within normal life expectancy.

So even if the facial masks really offered protection against a virus, why would anyone under 70 care to wear them? However, they don’t. Before this mass human experiment, scientific studies pointed out that the universal use of masks does not decrease a viral epidemic (see here, here, here, here, here and here). And after the experiment (which is still in progress) it was found empirically that the studies were right (see here, here and here). That’s something anyone can infer. Here in São Paulo, as I said, the use of masks easily passes through 95% of the population, and the number of “cases” (which does not mean “sick”, only “positive PCR tests”) not only did not decrease but also did not decrease. Another empirical example is the case of Sweden, one of the places where no one wears a mask , not even on public transport, (and which has not imposed quarantines) and the number of deaths per inhabitants in 2020 is the same as in 2015. Despite the evidence, people around here are still wearing masks. And they do it just because they told them to do it. It doesn’t matter that the people who told them to wear a mask are the same ones that days before told them not to wear a mask. Jenin Younes comments on this article on

the so-called experts’ notorious about-face on masks this past March. Having said for weeks that face coverings do not stop transmission of the virus, Anthony Fauci, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Surgeon General, and others, did a 180 virtually overnight.

Here in Brazil we also have our famous youtuber “scientist” prophet of the apocalypse doing the same thing. In this video he laughs at the facial masks saying they don’t work, just to shortly after recommending them. Now these same people change their minds again and say that the masks don’t work anymore, that now we have to wear 2 or 3 masks at the same time!

And none of this is capable of making people question the use of masks; they keep using. In an excellent psychosocial analysis, Julian Rose tries to answer why:

Wearing ‘the mask’ is for those who suffer feelings of fear and/or guilt. Think about it.

One might reject such a notion “No, no, I’m just worried about being fined, that’s why I wear it”. Or “I don’t want to take any risks, the health authorities wouldn’t tell us to wear masks unless there was some protection benefit.”

Are these valid responses? Both are based primarily on fear. Fear of what an authority might do if one was to disobey the rules, and fear of sickness should one not follow the authorities’ instructions.

Indeed, fear. However, these fears are completely unfounded, which means that the basis of this fear is stupidity. As we’ve seen, facial masks don’t protect anyone from viruses, and even if someone gets the coronavirus, the risk of getting sick is small, and of dying, even smaller. Influenza and tuberculosis, to name two airborne diseases, together kill 2,150,000 people worldwide each year (650,000 flu and 1.5 million tuberculosis). That’s pretty much the same death toll that Covid-19 has reportedly hit so far. That is to say, in general, the world is not facing any greater threat than the threats that have always existed.

Regarding the fear of a fine, at least in my region, I’ve never even heard of anyone who was fined for not wearing a facial mask. You see, I wear seat belts for fear of a ticket. What should be a personal choice based on an individual risk assessment has become mandatory in several places. I’ve taken several fines. And a lot of other people I know, too. Thousands of people keep taking this ticket. So, after being one of the great funders of the fine industry, I was domesticated by the whip of the State Master and am today a generally obedient puppy. But I don’t know anyone who got a ticket for being out without a facial mask. In fact, only 327 people were fined for not wearing a facial mask in the State in five months. With a population of 45 million this makes the chance of receiving a fine for lack of facial mask as 0.00000727%, making the fear of the fine even more stupid than the fear of the virus. (With the caveat that the facial mask could actually protect you from a fine, but not from a virus) Of course, this number may vary from place to place, but, thank God, for now, only in some places in China there is monitoring citizens by facial recognition cameras, which can identify people in the same way that license plates are identified, and fine them. Therefore, there’s still a chance to run away from these very rare tax. However, as the Communists taught the world, an even better way than ordering you to do something is to make you feel bad about not doing something. And making a stupid humanity believe the sham that they’re saving lives against a fatal virus by hanging a piece of cloth on his face wasn’t difficult.

See the rest here

18 years later the safe zone in Baghdad is anything but. An armed convoy is needed to get from the US embassy to the airport.

Don’t worry, the military is promised to get more US troops, more US money, more US bombs, more US body bags.

BAGHDAD – Three rockets were fired at Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone on Monday without causing any casualties, Iraq’s army said. Security officials said the U.S. Embassy was the target.

Two Iraqi security officials said that one rocket fell within the perimeter of the vast U.S. Embassy complex, and another fell in the residential neighborhood of Harthiya, outside the Green Zone.

The rockets were launched from the Salam area of Baghdad, and an investigation was ongoing, a statement from the military said.

It said there were no casualties but noted minor property damage, including a damaged vehicle. The Green Zone houses foreign embassies and is the seat of Iraq’s government.

It was the third attack to target the American presence in Iraq in a week. A U.S.-led coalition contractor was killed and other civilians were wounded in a rocket attack outside Irbil’s international airport Feb.16. On Saturday, rockets wounded personnel working for a U.S. defense company at Balad airbase in Salahaddin province.

Why the U.S. needs to lose in Syria

The U.S. supported Al Qaeda in Syria. John McCain called them “moderates,” in the same way the Washington Post called ISIS leaders “austere religious scholars.”It is hard to believe that U.S. intervention in Syria is not a satire written by someone with a truly dark sense of humor. The Al Qaeda moderates that the U.S. supported cut off the heads of children, eat dead mens’ hearts, and sell journalists to ISIS to be beheaded. The Republican and Democratic establishment are allied with Al Qaeda, the butchers of New York City, who spilt innocent American blood. In Chapter 11 of Gus Cantavero’s video adaptation of Scott’s new book Enough Already: Time to End the War on Terrorism, Scott explains why the U.S. is in Syria and how we know our politicians supported Al Qaeda there.

‘Unintended Consequences and The Texas ‘Big Freeze’ Energy Disaster’ – Ron Paul’s 22 Feb. Column

Posted by M. C. on February 23, 2021

But Texas did not only freeze because of Abbott’s Covid restrictions. For the better part of a year thousands of businesses have been destroyed. Recovering drug addicts and alcoholics have relapsed. Depression and suicides have skyrocketed. Children have been deprived of education.

And for what? Texas with Abbott’s restrictions fared no better than Florida with no restrictions when it comes to Covid cases and deaths. The Texas governor knew that months ago when the data from Florida proved that lockdowns, masks, and other restrictions had no effect. But he refused to change course. He refused to follow the brave lead of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and open Texas completely.

Last week Texas experienced a cold snap that resulted in serious statewide damage, death, and destruction. The collapse of the state’s energy grid left millions of Texans in the dark and freezing for days at a time. Tragically, at least 30 people died.

There are many reasons why Texas became like a Third World country, and we should be careful not to pin all the blame on just one factor. But it seems clear that the disaster was to a large degree caused by political decisions to shift toward “green” energy generated from solar and wind and by Governor Abbott’s authoritarian Covid restrictions.

Abbott, who won a “wind leadership” award just this month, oversaw the near-collapse of wind energy generation last week. Yet the politicization of energy generation in favor of “green” alternatives over natural gas and other fossil fuels has led to the unintended consequences of freezing Texans facing multiple millions of dollars in property damage and worse.

Additionally, federal emissions and other restrictions forced Texas to beg Washington for permission to generate power at higher levels in anticipation of unprecedented demand. Governor Abbott finally received permission from the Department of Energy on February 14th, but by then many facilities found themselves off-line due to freezing conditions.

Why should the Federal government be allowed to freeze Texans to death in the name of controlling emissions from energy generation plants? It’s a classic example of politics over people. I guess if you want to make a “Green New Deal” omelet, you have to break a few eggs.

While Governor Abbott was quick to blame energy generators and even the state Electric Reliability Council of Texas, NBC News in Dallas reported that ERCOT “did not conduct any on-site inspections of the state’s power plants to see if they were ready for this winter season. Due to COVID-19 they conducted virtual tabletop exercises instead – but only with 16 percent of the state’s power generating facilities.”

Governor Abbott’s authoritarian Covid executive orders at least indirectly led to lax inspection, maintenance, and winterization of wind and other energy generation plants.

Politicians too stubborn or fearful to change course when facts dictate otherwise do not deserve to remain in office. Governors Gavin Newsom in California and Andrew Cuomo in New York are finally facing consequences for their Covid authoritarianism. When the smoke clears – and it is rapidly clearing – many more of these petty tyrants will fall. That list of deposed Covid tyrants may well include Texas Governor Greg Abbott – and the slumbering Texas state legislature – as well.

Let’s hope Texans – and all Americans – will learn from this and more forcefully demand their God-given liberty!

Help Is On The Way: John Kerry Personally Warms Texas By Flying Private Jet Around

Posted by M. C. on February 22, 2021

https://babylonbee.com/news/in-a-gesture-of-unity-climate-czar-john-kerry-buzzes-texas-windmill-farms-in-private-jet-to-thaw-them-out

FORT STOCKTON, TX—After days of being without power due to frozen windfarms, Texans are rejoicing at the news that Climate Czar John Kerry will personally warm up the entire state and thaw out all the windmills by flying around in his massive private jet.

“John Kerry, reporting for duty!” said Kerry as he swooped in and buzzed the wind farms, pumping heat and CO2 into the atmosphere. “I’ll get these old wind turbines spinning again!”

The Gulfstream, which emits 40 times more carbon than a commercial jetliner, lowered its altitude, belching out a trail of greenhouse gasses above the inoperable field of turbines.

“Yee-haw!” said an enthusiastic crowd of Texans as the massive blades began to turn again. Unfortunately, the blades started turning just as a large flock of endangered pelicans flew by. The resulting carnage rendered the windfarm inoperable once again.

Kerry will now park his plane at a nearby airport and charge the locals 5 dollars to stand behind his jet engines for warmth.
