Milk Price Supports Don’t Have a Leg to Stand On

Posted by M. C. on December 31, 2012

Red Alert! The farm bill is in limbo. Milk prices may go to $8 per gallon. If big brother doesn’t continue to subsidize milk producers they may actually have to charge a realistic price. This will of course reduce sales as the public is used to paying what they think is a good price.

What they THINK is a good price because if you add in the taxpayer supported subsidy plus the cost of storing excess dairy product the government buys from farmers, milk I believe is a really expensive item.

Didn’t I read where Domino’s and Pizza Hut’s stuffs crusts with cheese due to a government (taxpayer subsidized) program  to use up excess cheese? Read the rest of this entry »

Sandy Hook Will Not Be a “Wasted Opportunity”

Posted by M. C. on December 20, 2012

The cause and probable effects of the Sandy Hook/Newtown disaster is summarized as well as I have seen here.

Foreign wars and empire building making the US the enemy of the world.

Remote control killing making the US the enemy of the world.  Anesthetizing us to government sponsored violence.  Killing with no casualties on our side.  Ain’t life a dream?  Has your militarized police department purchased its fleet of drones yet?

Destruction of Constitutional rights-communication privacy, unlawful search and seizure, elimination of due process making the US citizen the enemy.  I wonder.  When I send an email who gets it first?  The intended recipient or Janet Napolitano?

Obama’s memorial speech was an obvious political opportunity and show of power. Read the rest of this entry »

Clash of Political Positions

Posted by M. C. on January 22, 2012

Robert Cogan’s Clash of Political Positions in the current Erie Reader got me to thinking about political tags from a Libertarian viewpoint. Mr. Cogan presents an enlightening comparison of political philosophies, primarily liberal, progressive, conservative and Libertarian. He describes many characteristics of each breed that I agree with. There are many unfortunate similarities also. These groups are not at all what they pretend to be. There are few real conservatives for example, at least not in the paleo-conservative Robert Taft tradition. Read the rest of this entry »

Keeping the Keynes Delusion Alive

Posted by M. C. on August 6, 2011

Gary North  recently explains the difference between Keynesian and Austrian economics in terms simple enough even for me. He then asks the question why we continue down the Keynesian road to oblivion.

The world economic situation is one giant example of un-leashed Keynes. Government intervention in the marketplace, pumping fiat money into the system and generally enlarging that monolith that is government. The system doesn’t work but government’s typical solution is more of the same. The emphasis on MORE. Why indeed do we continue down this dark road? Read the rest of this entry »
