Barbarous Relic: The one lockdown that’s killing us all

Posted by M. C. on October 9, 2020

Does the State’s virus management give you confidence it’s acting in your best interest?  For me, it’s like something out of Orwell or Nazi Germany.

Without the State there would be chaos, we’re told.  What do we have today, if not chaos?  I haven’t even mentioned the riots going on, where people defending themselves are charged with serious crimes. The rioters hate the police, and seeing the police stand down, peaceful people now fear for their lives and load up on guns.

http://barbarous-relic.blogspot.com/2020/10/the-one-lockdown-thats-killing-us-all.html

In the 1930s, first Hoover then Roosevelt tried to fix the economy that would have fixed itself if it had been left alone, which was the lesson decidedly not learned from the depression of 1920-21 and the Panics of the 19th century.  If it had been left to recover on its own from federal reserve meddling, there might have been a chance the meddler would have been shut down.

But really, there was no chance.  Anyone who understands the FED’s purpose — keeping the biggest banks solvent through counterfeiting — knows repealing the law that established it was not a thinkable option, given the corrupt powers that supported it.

So the FED, supercharged after FDR made owning gold coins a felony, remained on the scene and advanced its career as an untouchable counterfeiter, creating a legacy of inflation, a policy indispensable to a welfare/warfare/surveillance state.  Big, suffocating government doesn’t thrive on direct theft (legislated taxation) alone.

State growth also creates connections with individuals and organizations not formally a part of the State apparatus.  It has a name: Crony capitalism. Since the State deals with others by force and thrives within its sphere of influence by bestowing favors, there are always people seeking privileges, such as protection from competition, tax breaks, or monetary outlays (bailouts).  In return, the State receives support in the form of political endorsements, election donations, votes, and marginalizing the views of those opposed to State policies or the State itself.

Any crisis arriving on the scene, whether State-caused or natural, is subject to State handling.  People expect the State to “Do something,” and it does.  Today, the State is doing plenty about the coronavirus, and no surprise, it is creating a social catastrophe.

What hath the State wrought?

It’s a challenge to document 2020’s outburst of tyranny when so many levels of government are contributing to the mayhem, but here are a few:

(1)  States ordering “non-essential” businesses to close, while letting “essential” businesses remain open.  If a business weren’t essential it wouldn’t be doing business.  Fortunately, some business owners are at least defying the orders

(2) With so many small businesses shut down and employees furloughed or fired, the federal government turned to its counterfeiter to ease their pain — short term relief only, of course.  Most Americans aren’t complaining, but they will when they’re greeted with “monumental tax increases” that could eventually wipe out the middle class.  But the CARES act is rarely presented in such truthful terms.  Instead, the government with its astronomical debt somehow found $2.2 trillion in its back pocket it had apparently forgotten about, so the Treasury (not the FED) passed it out to the people, including thousands of foreign workers living overseas.  Money is truly no object when it’s controlled by the government and its printing press sidekick.

(3)  Stay-at-home orders for everyone, even after the virus has shown an affinity for the elderly with existing medical problems and almost no concern for healthy people under 30.  Lockdowns prevent herd immunity and delay recovery.  People jailed in their homes get depressed, divorced, commit suicide, abuse spouses and children, drink too much, and fail to care for other health issues.  They also tend to stay unemployed if they can’t work from home.  The State knows all this.

(4) Mask confusion.  State health authorities saying early on that masks aren’t needed for everyday activities then reversing themselves. Studies and demonstrations showing the futility of masks, along with their numerous downsides, have yet to remove the mandates.

(5)  Making people afraid to get too close to one another.  We must keep at least six feet apart (unless you’re rioting for a leftist cause).  States have tried hard to outlaw hugs.  We can find ludicrous though often creative ways some people circumvent normal hugging.

(6)  Outlawing or restricting outdoor recreational activities.  Remember the video of the cop chasing a lone jogger off the beach?  Or the young mother who was tasered and arrested for not wearing a mask while watching her middle school son play football?

(7)  Hobbling professional sports.  Fake fans in the seats, along with crowd noises lifted from a video game.  No tailgating.  Announcers and commentators broadcasting remotely or spread far apart.  NFL commissioner Roger Goodell fining two head coaches $100,000 apiece for not wearing masks properly on the sidelines.  And also fining their teams $250,000 apiece.

(8)  Canceling the NCAA basketball tournaments for both men and women.  At first canceling, then allowing under restrictions, the college football season.  Two major conferences have yet to begin play.  TV viewers are seeing cheerleaders with masks strapped to their faces cheering from the stands or from the sidelines, with gaping holes in the bleachers where fans normally sit.  Meanwhile, amid all the PC caution, the players engage in a rough contact sport on the field. But even under duress the free market comes through

At LSU last week, fans were able to purchase a cut out of themselves to be placed in the stands where 82,000 empty seats looked on. The cost? $50.

Depressing, but it’s a choice and a way for the school to recover a bit of lost revenue.

(9)  Criminally, the suppression and in some cases outlawing of a demonstrably effective treatment for SARS-CoV-2, hydroxychloroquine.  The government has never before “restricted physicians from prescribing an FDA approved medication,” according to America’s Frontline Doctors.

Santa Monica cardiologist Dr. Dan Wohlgelernter said during a June 18 interview:

This is an FDA approved drug for 65 years; it’s generic, cheap, widely available. We give it to pregnant women, to breastfeeding women, to elderly patients, to patients who are immune-compromised…

Initially, the FDA issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for HCQ, and CQ but then later revoked it.  During the brief period under the EUA the “strategic national stockpile” amassed 63 million doses of HCQ.  Mylan and Novartis donated millions of doses to the stockpile, with Bayer kicking in another two million doses of CQ.  Trump called it a game-changer on March 21 and that changed the game.  On June 15 the FDA revoked EUA, saying:

Specifically, FDA has determined that CQ and HCQ are unlikely to be effective in treating COVID-19 for the authorized uses in the EUA.  Additionally, in light of ongoing serious cardiac adverse events and other serious side effects, the known and potential benefits of CQ and HCQ no longer outweigh the known and potential risks for the authorized use.  This warrants revocation of the EUA for HCQ and CQ for the treatment of COVID-19.

Most states had already placed restrictions for its use as a prophylactic and by limiting prescriptions to two weeks with no refills.

Twenty-year emergency room physician Dr. Simone Gold was fired for appearing in a video in which she advocated HCQ for use against COVID-19.  The video, which went viral, was removed from social media.  Her employer threatened to fire her colleagues if she didn’t go quietly.

An ongoing evaluation of HCQ called HCQTrial, done anonymously by PhD researchers and scientists under the name @CovidAnalysis (to avoid another “Simone Gold” incident), presents findings for countries that do or do not use HCQ.  As the chart shows, early treatment makes a big difference, and countries using HCQ show far lower mortality rates.

I’ll let the reader decide whether the war on HCQ is at all related to the Left’s war on Trump and the lucrative revenue stream from government sponsorship of a rushed-to-market vaccine.

(10)  If the State is concerned with our health, why aren’t their spokespeople urging us to boost our immune systems?  That’s our first line of defense against any infectious disease, along with common sense.  Why aren’t they now, in October, urging us to load up on vitamins D3, K2, and C especially, along with zinc?  Why aren’t they classifying HCQ as an OTC drug as it is in many countries, to be used as a prophylactic?

Conclusion

In most circles the fact of government’s necessity is never mentioned but always assumed.  Thus, the push for reforms, to get better people in positions of authority, to pass needed legislation on top of the mountains that already exist.  Always — work within the system.  Don’t rock the boat.  Our foundations are still solid.  Rarely does anyone call into question the need for government-as-we-know-it — the State.

And now we’re being hit with black lives matter and only black lives matter.  It is no longer a fringe movement.  It exists virtually unchallenged.  No one, no matter their race, can live long under that slogan.

We already have a government we can live with.  It’s called the free market but it’s been sabotaged by the State.  It’s locked down, meaning not allowed to operate.  We need to set it free.

I’ve written a short book about it and produced a 10-minute video explaining it.

If you, thoughtful reader, want a stateless free market you must tell the world you want it.  At the end of the video I ask you to vote by giving the video a thumbs up or down.  I urge you to give it a thumbs up.  Without your affirmation the stateless free market will forever remain a fantasy and today’s nightmare will only get worse.

The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity : Good News: Fauci’s Out and Common Sense Might Be Returning

Posted by M. C. on August 17, 2020

Recall, Fauci was the “expert” who told us a few months ago that we would never be able to shake hands again.

Fauci’s advice, forecasts, and assessments proved to be wildly wrong, contradictory, and just plain bizarre: Don’t wear a mask! You must wear a mask. Masks are important as symbols. Put on goggles. Stay home! Churches must be severely restricted but Black Lives Matter marches and encounters with strangers met over the Internet are perfectly fine.
Imagine how many thousands of lives could have been saved had the Administration listened to Dr. Atlas back in April. CDC Director Robert Redfield admitted last month that lockdowns were killing more Americans than Covid.

These days it seems there is not much good news out there. People are still panicked over the coronavirus, governments are still trampling civil liberties in the name of fighting the virus, the economy –already teetering on the edge of collapse – has been kicked to the ground by what history may record as one of the worst man-made disasters of all time: shutting down the country to fight a cold virus.

That’s why we’ll take good news wherever we can get it, and President Trump’s hiring of Dr. Scott Atlas to his coronavirus task force may just be that good news we need. As the media has reported, President Trump has sidelined headline-hogging Anthony Fauci in favor of Atlas, the former Stanford University Medical Center chief of neuroradiology.

When Anthony Fauci demanded a lockdown of the economy for an indefinite period he actually seemed oblivious to the havoc it would wreak on the economy and on people’s lives. People like Fauci and others who demanded lockdowns and stay-at-home orders were still collecting their paychecks, so what did they care about anyone else?

Dr. Scott Atlas is not only a former top physician and hospital administrator: as a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution he also understands the policy implications of locking a country down.

On April 22, Dr. Atlas wrote an op-ed in The Hill titled, “The data is in — stop the panic and end the total isolation.” In the article he made five main points that are as true today as when he wrote them: an overwhelming majority of people are at no risk of dying from Covid; protecting older people prevents hospital overcrowding; locking down a population actually prevents the herd immunity necessary to defeat the virus; people are dying because they are not being treated for non-Covid illnesses; we know what part of the population is at risk and we can protect them.

Imagine how many thousands of lives could have been saved had the Administration listened to Dr. Atlas back in April. CDC Director Robert Redfield admitted last month that lockdowns were killing more Americans than Covid. “First do no harm” was thrown out the window and nearly six months of wrong-headed policy has done perhaps irreparable harm to the country.

South Dakota and Sweden did virtually nothing to lock down or restrict their populations and they actually fared better than lockdown states in the US. They had lower death rates, their hospitals were never over-run with Covid patients, and they have an economy to go back to.

We very much hope that Dr. Atlas will not “moderate” his message to please the blob in Washington. Trump’s Covid policies to this point have caused more harm than good. With Fauci out of the driver’s seat we finally have a chance of turning things around.

Independence Day in the Midst of Dictatorship – James Bovard

Posted by M. C. on July 4, 2020

Attorney General Ramsey Clark warned in 1967, “Nothing so diminishes
democracy as secrecy.” But the pandemic response by federal, state, and
local officials remains shrouded in secrecy. We may have seen only the
tip of the iceberg of boondoggles and blunders in government responses
to the pandemic.

https://jimbovard.com/blog/2020/07/02/independence-day-in-the-midst-of-dictatorship/

James Bovard

How many Americans will greet July 4th Day with gratitude that their governor is no longer compelling them to “shelter in place” or “stay at home” so they can celebrate their freedom? Most of the media is ignoring the fact that this Independence Day is occurring under the most dictatorial restrictions of the modern era. But anyone who values their liberty must recognize the Great Political Unleashing that has occurred this year makes a mockery of the Founding Fathers’ intentions.

Earlier this year, more than 300 million Americans were constrained by “stay-at-home” decrees by governors and mayors. These restrictions were justified by mortality predictions from COVID-19 that turned out to be wildly exaggerated. But most of the media has presumed that the dictates were legitimate because they were supposedly based on “science and data” – regardless of pervasive wrongheaded forecasts.

The Centers for Disease Control estimated last week that 24 million Americans may have been infected with COVID – making a mockery of lockdowns designed to force citizens to pay any price for the slightest potential reduction in infections.

Do America’s politicians and media have any special suggestions on how the tens of millions of people who lost their jobs due to the shutdowns should celebrate Independence Day? How should small business owners who have been bankrupted mark July 4th?

Governors across the nation earlier this year proved that the Bill of Rights is a parchment barrier that can be easily shredded by invoking their emergency powers. Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer prohibited “all public and private gatherings of any size” (prohibiting people from visiting friends) and also prohibited purchasing seeds for spring planting in stores after she decreed that a “nonessential” activity.

Many Michigan counties have less than a handful of COVID cases and few if any fatalities. But their economies have been obliterated by Whitmer’s statewide decrees, which have driven unemployment up to 24 percent. Two weeks ago, Whitmer railed that legislators’ “attempts to take away my authority” were “irresponsible, dangerous and foolish.”

Maryland politicians’ COVID crackdown destroyed more than 400,000 jobs, leading almost one-fifth of the state’s workforce to file for unemployment. Even the Washington Post recognized that Maryland’s COVID “restrictions have crippled the economy and paralyzed daily life since mid-March.” At the time that Gov. Larry Hogan imposed a mandatory “stay-at-home” order for all Marylanders, roughly a thousand Marylanders had tested positive for COVID and eighteen had died from the virus.

Despite the shutdown, the number of people testing positive soared to 68,000 along with more than 3,100 deaths. Ravaging Maryland’s economy failed to stop COVID’s spread but inflicted collateral damage that will hobble the state for many years and probably permanently blight thousands of lives.

Oregon Governor Kate Brown banned the state’s four million residents from leaving their homes except for essential work, buying food, and other narrow exemptions, and also banned all recreational travel. Six Oregon counties had only one confirmed COVID case as of last month, and most of the state has minimal infections. But schools, businesses, and other activities were slammed shut by government edict. Almost 400,000 Oregonians have lost their jobs after Brown’s shutdown.

In May, a circuit judge ruled that Brown’s pervasive restrictions were “not required for public safety when plaintiffs can continue to utilize social distancing and safety protocols.” But the Oregon Supreme Court, stacked with the governor’s appointees, quickly overturned that ruling.

The media and many politicians heaped derision on people who publicly protested against the lockdowns that were destroying their livelihoods. But after a Minneapolis policeman brutally killed George Floyd, politicians cheered as mass protests exploded in cities across the nation. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio sent police to disperse attendees at an Orthodox Jewish funeral for violating his restrictions on public gatherings but endorsed mass protests against police brutality.

Twelve hundred health professionals signed a letter declaring, “We do not condemn these gatherings as risky for covid-19 transmission. We support them as vital to the national public health.” Any tattered remnant of credibility retained by public health officialdom was shattered when they declared that supporting protests against police brutality “should not be confused with a permissive stance on all gatherings, particularly protests against stay-home orders.”

Who knew that COVID-19 only infects “deplorables” and reactionaries?

At the same time that politicians joined and cheered mass protests against the police, many states continue effectively outlawing religious services. Would church services be permitted to resume if parishioners promised to cuss the police? The “experts” might also permit a vast rally to confer sainthood upon Anthony Fauci, the media’s favorite lockdown hysteria monger.

The pandemic pried open authoritarian Pandora’s Boxes at all levels of government. Trump’s Justice Department asked Congress to approve suspending habeas corpus for the duration of the pandemic. Norman Reimer, executive director of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, warned, “You could be arrested and never brought before a judge until they decide that the emergency or the civil disobedience is over.” The same type of pre-arrest power could be exercised to detain anyone suspected of being infected or failing to obey lockdown orders. Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee, one of the most principled members of the Senate, tweeted in response to the news of the power grab: “OVER MY DEAD BODY.”

Attorney General Ramsey Clark warned in 1967, “Nothing so diminishes democracy as secrecy.” But the pandemic response by federal, state, and local officials remains shrouded in secrecy. We may have seen only the tip of the iceberg of boondoggles and blunders in government responses to the pandemic.

What did federal, state, and local politicians and health officials know, and when did they know that many of the restrictions they imposed were unnecessary, if not counterproductive? How many states covertly adjusted their formulas or data standards to justify perpetuating lockdowns? How many states have lied or covered up their policies on sending COVID patients to nursing homes, a catastrophe that killed thousands of elderly?

Many locales have canceled their fireworks in order to avoid tempting people from gathering to enjoy the show. The Maryland Office of Tourism offered residents consolation prizes – the opportunity to tune in online and watch a “virtual pet parade” or see a “virtual Independence Day Tour” of the National Museum of Health and Medicine. Maybe the National Endowment for Humanities could supplement those performances by posting on YouTube some videos of 1960s children celebrating the Fourth of July by waving sparklers in the air – behavior which might provoke a SWAT raid nowadays.

All that was necessary to raze limits on political power was wild-eyed extrapolations of potential infection rates. The last few months have established the prerogative of governors and other officials to slap on a tourniquet and cut off the economic blood supply for as long as they claim necessary. The ease with which politicians have captured boundless power should be chilling to anyone who is not a fan of Mussolini. And many governors appear itching to reimpose restrictions based on any uptick in infections elsewhere in the nation.

The Great Pandemic Follies of 2020 have been based on the illusion that government could make life risk-free. But the advocates of shutdowns, lockdowns, and endless prohibitions ignore the risk of dictatorship. That was what our forefathers fought against almost 250 years ago, and their sacrifices and courage should inspire today’s Americans to take far less guff from their rulers.

The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity : Coronavirus Shows Why We Need Separation of Medicine and State!

Posted by M. C. on June 9, 2020

No laws were passed denying these rights. Even that would be illegal and
immoral. But what happened was worse. They were denied these basic
rights by governors, county judges, and even local mayors who used the
coronavirus outbreak as an excuse to rule by decree. They stole power
that was not theirs to take and wielded it at all levels to force
America into three months of house arrest.

http://ronpaulinstitute.org/archives/featured-articles/2020/june/08/coronavirus-shows-why-we-need-separation-of-medicine-and-state/

Written by Ron Paul

It seems like only yesterday. Americans were denied the right to go to their churches. They were denied the right to visit their loved ones in the hospital. They were denied the right to open their businesses and go to work to provide for themselves and their families. They were denied the right to go to restaurants, to bars, to hair salons.

No laws were passed denying these rights. Even that would be illegal and immoral. But what happened was worse. They were denied these basic rights by governors, county judges, and even local mayors who used the coronavirus outbreak as an excuse to rule by decree. They stole power that was not theirs to take and wielded it at all levels to force America into three months of house arrest.

Then, in the midst of stay-at-home orders across the country, the same governors and local officials who locked Americans in their homes suddenly came around with their keys and threw open the doors. Suddenly not only was it OK to go out into the street, it was required to go out into the street!

What happened? A cure? A miraculous vaccine? No. The officials who locked Americans up found a cause they felt required Americans in the streets to protest. Police had killed a black man, Floyd George, in their custody in Minneapolis and suddenly the need to protest trumped the need to “stay home, save lives.”

Suddenly the same health “experts” who told us we must not gather in crowds or there will be death in the millions from coronavirus issued statements supporting gathering in crowds. An open letter on the Floyd George protests signed by more than 1,200 doctors and other health professionals clarified that they “do not condemn these gatherings as risky for Covid-19 transmission.” However, they wrote, “this should not be confused with a permissive stance on all gatherings, particularly protests against stay-at-home orders.”

Did the coronavirus develop some kind of superior intelligence enabling it to distinguish between those who were congregating for a “good cause” and those who were congregating for a “bad cause”? Of course not. What has happened from the beginning of this shameful coronavirus episode is the politicization of public health at the hands of authoritarians.

Two prestigious medical journals, The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine, were forced to retract studies they had published concluding that Hydroxychloroquine was harmful to Covid patients. The rush to print the studies looks very much like a political move rather than one based on scientific principles. Once President Trump revealed that he was taking hydroxychloroquine the mainstream media and even “expert” journals began attacking the drug.

This is what happens when medicine merges with the state. We get the worst of both. We get career bureaucrat Dr. Fauci telling us we can never shake hands again and that we must stay home until a vaccine is found. Meanwhile, doctors across the globe are reporting that this variation of the coronavirus is disappearing on its own.

We have a tradition of separation of church and state in the United States for good reason. The merger of state and church invites oppression and corruption. We need to adopt this same approach to medicine and the state. We now see how this merger has produced the same kind of widespread tyranny and corruption.

The Resistance Grows! – LewRockwell

Posted by M. C. on April 27, 2020

It is becoming increasingly evident that the lockdowns are an over-reaction and a power grab by power hungry and sociopathic authorities not being kept in check.

Henry David Thoreau writes “Disobedience is the true foundation of liberty. The obedient must be slaves.”

As if channeling the spirit of the man who wrote the book on civil disobedience, corona disobedience is on the rise.

Idaho Parents Are Still Taking Their Kids To Parks

Sara Brady, a mother at a local park, wasn’t interested in being pushed around over an illegal and illogical order. Local police trying to control the situation arrested her in a Meridian, Idaho park.

“Police said they made several attempts to get Brady to follow the rules and she refused to comply.” The Rosa Parks of the park can be heard saying to someone “Get Idaho Freedom Foundation on the phone,” as she’s being cuffed, a testimonial to what a recognized advocate for freedom that group must be.

Rather than back down to the thugs, many others in the park stood up for Brady, as can be seen on video footage from the arrest.

Rather than going home to cower after the police provocation, 100 people went to City Hall to protest the shameful arrest.

For those curious to hear the other side of the story, directly from the horse’s mouth, the Meridian City Hall phone number is (208) 888-4433, the mayor’s office is (208) 489-0529, and police department non-emergency is (208) 888-6678.

The most important protests are when people go about living life as they see fit.

Also in Idaho, Christa Thompson of Rathdrum, thought so little of the Governor’s stay at home order that she held a yard sale. Her customers felt the same way. Thomson thought so little of the police who stopped by that she kept having a yard sale for an entire week. She even posted ads for it on Craigslist. Sounds like there are lots of free people in Idaho.

When Life Hands You Lemons, Make Lemonade

Skaters in San Clemente, California were so defiantly using a local skate park during the lockdown, and in such large numbers, that police had to constantly patrol, which had little impact.

The police came through, everyone cleared out, then soon the same group returned or another group arrived. As government is prone to do, rather than coming to grips with the reality of how free people behave, the powers that be dug into their position and tried to leverage their power rather than their sense of reason.

The city covered the skate park with 37 tons of sand to make it impossible to skate on.

Undeterred in their defiance, skaters took to using the newly created “beach” for lounging and drinking ice-cold Corona beers. The skating had stopped, but authorities had been foiled.

But the defiance didn’t stop there.

Dirt bikers in San Clemente took it a step further. The jumps, rails, and half pipes of the skate park that was now covered in sand made it a great place to also ride a dirt bike.

Ohio Bridal Shop Owner Wants to Re-Open, Sues Government

A Columbus bridal shop owner, Tanya Rutner Hartman, has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court against Ohio Health Director Dr. Amy Acton, challenging on constitutional grounds her orders closing “non-essential” businesses because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Hartman is being represented by attorneys from the 1851 Center for Constitutional Law, an organization dedicated to protecting the constitutional rights of Ohioans.

I’ve written a not-yet-published piece outlining how to sue your governor. Email me if this is something that would interest you to have.

Thank You To the Alabama Business Owners Showing Bravery And Never Closing Down

Arizona sheriff candidate and LRC columnist David Hathaway defines all businesses as essential by virtue of existing.

An LRC reader tells the story of an Alabama store owner that never closed down and how that store owner’s strength has been contagious. The entire epistle is worth a read, but this is my favorite part:

“It may not seem like much but seeing this man named Paul out there every day in defiance has given me the strength to persevere with my f— authority attitude when everyone else is cowering in their homes. I just want to recognize his strength publicly.”

Fellow LRC Readers Resisting

One reader recounts the joy of resisting by calling the Malibu police department (818) 878-1808 and giving the PD an earful for arresting a socially distanced paddle boarder.

European Irreverence For The State

LRC reader Mike from Europe wrote about how he and his crew are civilly disobedient by putting LRC thought pieces in easy to access places offline, like bus stops. They also “Hack the official posters made by the corrupt ‘authorities’ and replace their messages with slogans denouncing the current coup…”

Irreverent Mike reads LRC. Are Sabo and Banksy renegade enough to do the same?

So Funny – The Tale Of The De Blasio Snitch Line

Cities that launch snitch lines are welcoming dissent to the corona bans, but people in power disconnected from reality have a hard time learning. The response to resistance to a stupid governmental order is not more governmental orders. That just leads to outright rebellion.

A few petty tyrants are eager to learn the hard way: Riverside County, California has launched RivCoMobile, an app that allows residents to “anonymously” report violations of state and county public health orders. In a more notable example New York launched a snitch line.

Within 12 hours of the launch of the snitch line, I had disobedient people sending me screenshots of all manners of fun that they were having with the De Blasio Snitch Line. The meme artists of our era are unparalleled in their ability to convey potent messages of freedom through symbolism. Using symbols, they speak to the heart of the matter on a sub-verbal level. My favorite depictions have been those that clarified the creepy hitlerian nature of the De Blasio Snitch Line.

“Sic semper tyrannis” is a rally cry to those opposing tyrants. “Death always to tyrants.” Sometimes it’s also fun to just help dig a grave for their ridiculous plans. “Death always to the plans of tyrants.”

Others, less skilled in meme artistry, took to a form of civil disobedience of their own.

Middle fingers, pornography, and all manner of insults and ridicule have additionally been submitted to the De Blasio Snitch Line. “Tip Line Flooded With Penis Photos, Hitler Memes” read an April 21, 2020 New York Post headline.

Classic New York snark” took down the snitch line temporarily, and will probably render it ultimately unusable, until the embarrassing project finally dies a death that is never acknowledged in print.

If you want to try out the state-of-the-art tip line just text: 311-692.

4 Michigan Sheriffs Rebel

Four Northern Michigan sheriffs have refused to strictly enforce lockdown orders, citing property rights among their reasons. Additional concerns cited are the likelihood of armed citizens not appreciating a police officer coming onto their property and a dangerous escalation taking place. The right of self-defense, often referenced as “the Second Amendment,” proves itself daily as a defense against state over-reach.

Sheriffs in Washington, Wisconsin, and Idaho are saying the same. Given that the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association claims 400 members, others are probably doing the same while being far less public about it.

Southern Governors Fear Their People

According to the AP, while some US states coordinate a re-opening “Southern governors do not want to give any appearance of synchronization.”

The article paints states as independent and the governor who behaves otherwise, as a governor who will be in hot water. It’s great to have a governor terrified of his population.

Kansas Judge Protects Churches From Lockdown

U.S. District Judge John Broomes in Wichita has prevented the enforcement of an order issued by Gov. Laura Kelly, commenting “Churches and religious activities appear to have been singled out among essential functions for stricter treatment.”

Public safety is important, but so is following the Constitution,” said Tyson Langhofer, senior counsel for the Christian-founded and conservative Alliance for Defending Freedom, which was involved in the case. “We can prioritize the health of safety of ourselves and our neighbors without harming churches and people of faith.”

The Gadfly Strikes Again!

“I’m on a walk. I’ve been obviously scoffing at people wearing masks. I go down the middle of the sidewalk and they scurry into the corners. Like rats.

“To the few who aren’t wearing masks, I say, ‘Thank you for not wearing a fear-mask.’

“They’re stunned speechless.”

To the managers of the coffee shops and elegant restaurants that have turned into takeaway stands he points out “I’m looking forward to the day where you guys just open up and defy the governor.”

Spend Time With Your Kids

This isn’t civil disobedience as much as it’s cultural disobedience.

In a blow to the idea that two parents must work fifty-hour weeks and children from the age of six weeks must spend their days out of the house, only to see each other for a few hours a weekday and perhaps longer on the weekends: perhaps a bit of cultural reform is offered by a moment like this.

Gallup says 9 out of 10 children report happiness staying home. Of course they do. Their parents are doing the work of parents instead of sending them off to a stranger to be raised.

The Internet Has Its Own Freedom Of Information Act

You probably don’t want Bill Gates, the creator of the most malware prone software on earth, to run your secret vaccine program.

“A cache of nearly 25,000 email addresses and passwords allegedly belonging to the World Health Organization (WHO), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Wuhan Institute of Virology, Bill Gates Foundation and several other groups involved with the coronavirus pandemic response were dumped on 4chan before appearing on several other websites, according to the SITE Intelligence Group.”

The tyrant wants secrecy for himself, transparency for the public. The natural order, and the trends common in history remind one how hard that is for the tyrant to secure. Thank you to the hacker behind this brilliant show of civil disobedience.

Duncan Lemp’s Parents Threatened With Jail For Protesting His Killing

It has been six weeks since a SWAT team shot and killed 21-year-old Duncan Lemp in a 4:30 a.m. raid at his family’s home in Potomac, Maryland, an affluent and sedate suburb of Washington, D.C. Montgomery County Police have thus far refused to provide any evidence on how or why they killed Lemp. But a county prosecutor leaped to action on Wednesday, effectively threatening any Lemp family members who attend a protest over his killing with a $5000 fine and a year in jail.

The reason? Maryland’s strict stay-at-home orders, imposed by Republican Gov. Larry Hogan last month.

Resistance Building To Coronavirus ‘House Arrest’ Orders…It’s About Time!

Posted by M. C. on April 9, 2020

http://www.ronpaulinstitute.org/archives/featured-articles/2020/april/07/resistance-building-to-coronavirus-house-arrest-ordersits-about-time/

Across the country, from political leaders, to small business owners, to parents who just want to take their children to the park, resistance is growing to the authoritarians who have effectively suspended the Constitution and placed most of the country under house arrest. Lawsuits are also challenging unlawful “stay at home” orders. What if all the hysteria-driven orders have actually made the virus outbreak even worse? More scientists are coming forward to argue for the “Sweden model” of moderation rather than lockdown. Watch today’s Liberty Report:

Emergency lines and the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection hotline were flooded with calls reporting noncompliance with the governor’s stay at home order on Tuesday.

The order, which calls for the suspension of all nonessential activity, went into effect at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday and by the evening it was unclear who should be fielding the calls clogging state and local agencies’ phone lines….
