National Public Radio’s ‘Freakonomics’ Repeats Charlottesville Hoax

Posted by M. C. on April 1, 2019

https://www.breitbart.com/the-media/2019/03/31/national-public-radios-freakonomics-repeats-charlottesville-hoax/

by Joel B. Pollak

National Public Radio’s Freakonomics podcast interviewed former White House economic adviser Gary Cohn and repeated the false claim that President Donald Trump referred to neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, Virginia, as “very fine people.”

The podcast, first published March 13, aired March 31 on WBEZ-Chicago. It includes a passage in which President Trump’s remarks at a press conference in August 2017 are deceptively edited to convince listeners he referred to neo-Nazis and white supremacists as “very fine people” — when, in fact, he had specifically condemned them.

(CNN used a similar deceptive edit from early February through early March, and has yet to correct or retract its claims.)

The Freaknomics transcript is as follows:

While putting together the tax plan, just eight months into Trump’s term, came a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

MARCHERS: Anti-white, anti-white, anti-white.

MARCHERS: Jews will not replace us. Jews will not replace us.

There were counter demonstrations as well, and violence. Trump’s response is now infamous.

TRUMP: You had some very bad people in that group. But you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides.

And it did nothing to ease the tension; Gary Cohn, by the way, is Jewish.

Cohn’s disappointment was well-documented at the time, including by Breitbart News, though it is not clear what, precisely, had bothered him in Trump’s response.

Freakonomics does not mention that Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin, who is also Jewish, defended the president’s remarks and said they had been mischaracterized.

Breitbart News and others have repeatedly debunked the false claim about “very fine people.” The full transcript of Trump’s remarks makes clear beyond any doubt that he specifically excluded the neo-Nazis from “very fine people.”

Several of Khashoggi’s Killers Were Trained in US – News From Antiwar.com

Posted by M. C. on April 1, 2019

This new revelation is almost certain to add to Congressional calls to further stem ties with the Saudi government, specifically so US training and equipment aren’t involved in routine atrocities such as this.

Pipe Dream

https://news.antiwar.com/2019/03/31/several-of-khashoggis-killers-were-trained-in-us/

In a further blow to US-Saudi ties, reports emerged this weekend on the October murder of Jamal Khashoggi by a Saudi kill team. The kill team’s leader, Maher Mutreb, and other members, had apparently been trained by the US government in the past.

It’s a familiar story, heard often enough when the US aligns itself with a country with a flimsy human rights record. The trainees were part of ongoing routine training operations meant to increase the ties of rank and file Saudi figures with the US security state.

During his training Mutreb, a colonel in the Saudi apy agency, apparently went so far as to try to befriend Khashoggi, likely gathering more intelligence on him, but likely also making his murder all the more uncomfortable…

Defeating the Counterrevolution – Antiwar.com Original

Posted by M. C. on April 1, 2019

We can and must defeat them by disempowering the instruments of control – the FBI, the CIA, and the entire national security bureaucracy – and making an example in this most egregious case. John Brennan must be charged and prosecuted. The FBI cabal that turned a federal law enforcement agency into an arm of an incipient police state must be held accountable in a court of law.

https://original.antiwar.com/justin/2019/03/31/defeating-the-counterrevolution/

It was a close call. We barely escaped losing our old republic and succumbing to rule by an unelected bureaucracy of intelligence officials. A “special counsel” – a creature with not a lick of constitutional legitimacy – was given de facto unlimited power and allowed to run rampant through official Washington, settling old scores, and creating some new ones. Lives were destroyed – innocent lives, of which there are few and far between in that vicinity – and dragged through the muck and mire. Demagogues, armed with one of the least plausible conspiracy theories of all time, drew up new rules whereby one measured truth or falsehood. These were the Bizarro World rules, which operate on the general principle of the least evidence there is for a proposition the more likely it is to be true.

It was and is a conspiracy theory built largely around the conceit of the perpetrators. After all, how could their candidate – smooth, (over-prepared), backed by over a billion bucks, leading in every poll, and so obviously destined to take the prize – wind up defeated?

This is the question torturing the liberal mind, and coming up with answers none of which explain the flaw in their supposedly flawless strategy. After all, they had a computer program named “Ada” named after the first woman in cybernetics that told them every move to make. Yes, identity politics dominated the Clintonian strategy to that extent…

The 2016 election revealed the real class lines in this country: not rich versus poor, white versus black, or north versus south – although these factors count to some extent – but the alienated versus the well-adjusted.

Are you adjusted to the idea that the community you once knew is gone and irrecoverable forever? Does it bother you that you can’t get through the day without ten milligrams of oxycodone? Is your monthly visit to the Veterans Administration hospital a ritual of enforced humiliation and minor but painful torture?

Wouldn’t you like to wipe that smug self-satisfied smirk off Jeff Bezos’s face?

These and many more often subtle but unmistakable signs are the insignia of alienation. And when they become so acute that even such worthies as legislators, journalists, and even cloistered academics must acknowledge them, what you have is a revolution on your hands…

Western Culture Has Died A Politically Correct Death – PaulCraigRoberts.org

Posted by M. C. on April 1, 2019

Individuals Are Not Important; Only Category Membership Is

https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2019/03/30/western-culture-has-died-a-politically-correct-death/

Paul Craig Roberts

It is amazing the power that politically correct kooks have acquired over language, art, and literature. It is a sign that the West is culturally dead.

When high museums rename paintings because some emotional weakling declares the name to be offensive, it becomes obvious that the custodians of Western culture have lost their belief in Western culture.

When universities cover up murals because of a claim they are offensive to people whose presence on the campus is miniscule if present at all, you know that learning is no longer the purpose of the university.

When a people are afraid to use the words and terms of their forefathers, you know they have been intimidated to abandon even their own language and ways of speaking.

Western culture today consists of pornography, sexual deviants, whining wimps devastated by mere words, self-hatred, and craven cowards afraid to stand up for themselves against the onslaught of hate directed toward them by political correctness freaks.

The political correctness people are the most alienated and emotionally weak element in the society.  Yet they dominate in the media, entertainment, universities, and art world…

What Your Sons and Daughters Will Learn at University

By Philip Carl Salzman

Universities in the 20th century were dedicated to the advancement of knowledge. Scholarship and research were pursued, and diverse opinions were exchanged and argued in the “marketplace of ideas.”

This is no longer the case. Particularly in the social sciences, humanities, education, social work, and law, a single political ideology has replaced scholarship and research, because the ideology presents fixed answers to all questions. And, although the most important thing in universities today is the diversity of race, gender, sexual practice, ethnicity, economic class, and physical and mental capability, there is no longer diversity of opinion. Only those committed to the ideology are admitted to academic staff or administration.

Universities have been transformed by the near-universal adoption of three interrelated theories: postmodernism, postcolonialism, and social justice. These theories and their implications will be explored here.

Replacement “Revenue” – EPautos – Libertarian Car Talk

Posted by M. C. on April 1, 2019

That will be one way the “revenue” could be recovered.

But here’s another – darker – source:

A federal tax on property.

Why not?

https://www.ericpetersautos.com/2019/03/30/replacement-revenue/

By eric

Do you remember when repeal Obamacare became repeal . . .  and replace? In other words, government managed and government-enforced “health care” is now a given.

The government will simply diddle with the particulars.

And diddle us.

It will be the same with speed-limited cars, once those are fatwa’d here – as is now all-but-inevitable given they have just been fatwa’d there  – in Europe, where about a third of new cars sold here are made and so will be made with the same tech embedded in them and ready to go.

Think DRLs – the absurdly always-on headlights that almost all new cars have had since the ’90s, when GM began installing them in all its new cars because some of them were built (or sold) in Canada, which required them.

It will be the same with Intelligent Speed Assist – the euphemism for the EU-mandated electronic nanny which will force cars – force drivers – to obey all speed limits.

But this raises a practical problem.

Speed limits are designed to collect “revenue” – via selectively applied “fines” (a euphemism for taxes) applied to drivers who ignore them. Which is almost every driver.

On purpose.

For exactly that purpose – i.e., to collect as much “revenue” as possible by making almost every driver a de jure “speeder” ripe for a roadside mulcting. The fact that everyone who drives has received a “ticket” – that is to say, has been roadside taxed – is certain proof of a confected rather than moral offense.

The whole point of speed limits is to make everyone an “offender” – so that everyone can be made to pay. In principle and  – eventually – in fact.

But if drivers can no longer “speed” because their cars won’t allow it, what about all that lost “revenue” – which is many millions of dollars and upon which many counties and cities depend for their various make-work/wealth-transfer schemes?

The answer comes easily enough.

The government will simply raise other taxes…

Must the West Beg the World for Forgiveness? – LewRockwell

Posted by M. C. on March 30, 2019

Slavery and Invasion

Is the white race, as Susan Sontag wrote, “the cancer of human history”?

NO.

Buchanan’s post has me baffled. Is this the same Buchanan that advocates the wall at the US Southern border?

Now no one denies that great sins and crimes were committed in that conquest. But are not the Mexican people, 130 million of them, far better off because the Spanish came and overthrew the Aztec Empire?

Maybe, maybe not. We will not know. A lot that would be different could have happened in 500 years.

Did not 300 years of Spanish rule and replacement of Mexico’s pagan cults with the Catholic faith lead to enormous advances for its civilization and human rights?

Probably, after the killing stopped. But we claim to be doing the same in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria. How is that working for you, Pat? I am thinking you would admit – Not well.

Did the Aztecs have a right to be left alone by the European world?

If so, whence came that right?

The right to be left alone belonged to the Aztecs just as it belongs to every individual on today’s planet. Mr. B you are suppressing your inner Libertarian.

Behind this demand for an apology from Spain and the Church is a view of history familiar to Americans, and rooted in clashing concepts about who we are, and were.

Query: Can peoples who are ashamed of their nation’s past do great things in its future? Or is a deep-seated national guilt, such as that which afflicts many Germans today, a permanent incapacitating feature of a nation’s existence?

There is no reason for anyone to be ashamed of what ancestors from hundreds of years ago did. People have been doing bad stuff to other people ever since there have been people. No one’s ancestry is pristine. Not even the Jesus’.

The thing to do is help prevent it from happening again. If you are Libertarian think NAP, Non Agression Principle.

Apologies and reparations: Take slavery in the US.

The make up of the US is so different from 1840 it would take 10,000 pages of regulations to figure who had to apologize and, of course, pay whom. Native Americans, the Irish immigrants escaping the potato famine, Western and European immigrants of 1880 on, Koreans, various Asians. Do they pay for something that happened 200 years ago?

The democratic party is all about “fairness”, right? Unfortunately, Nancy, Bernie and Occasional-Cortex could have 10,000 pages knocked out in no time.

I think what underlies this to a great extent is the thought of receiving ‘free government money’ and, of course, votes in return.

The 900 pound invisible gorilla.

I am more concerned about what is happening today. Particularly the rampant child sex slavery in the Middle East.

Have the Western peoples who conquered and changed much of the world been, on balance, a blessing to mankind or a curse? Is the history of the West, though replete with the failings of all civilizations, not unique in the greatness of what it produced?

Or are the West’s crimes of imperialism, colonialism, genocide, racism, slavery and maltreatment of minorities of color so sweeping, hateful and shameful they cancel out the good done?…

Keeping It Unreal | The Blog of Author Donald Jeffries – Punching Nazi’s

Posted by M. C. on March 30, 2019

I seem to recall a presidential candidate that was good at hurling the Nazi epitaph.  Let me think , it will come to me.

https://donaldjeffries.wordpress.com/

posted by Donald Jefferies

The National Socialist Party died in 1945, at the same time its leader Adolph Hitler was escorted to Argentina. Following the show trials at Nuremberg, some of the last Nazi leaders were sentenced to death. Others were rewarded by being ushered into America under the CIA’s Operation Paperclip, where they helped establish NASA.

Although the Nazis themselves have been gone for more than half a century, the term “Nazi” itself has a universal appeal, and a staying power that appears to be immortal. When someone is called a “Nazi” now, those affixing the label don’t mean a literal member of the National Socialist Party. They mean, instead, whatever they want it to mean. It is the slur that fits all sizes; leftists routinely paint anyone who doesn’t believe in 57 genders with it, and conservatives use it almost as freely.

Alex Jones, de-platformed guru of the conspiracy world, talks about Adolph Hitler and the Nazis more than he talks about Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung and every “globalist” in the universe combined. Others on the right resort to it regularly. Donald Trump, Jr. and right-wing author Dinesh D’Souza both compare today’s liberals to actual Nazis. Conservative Jonah Goldberg’s 2008 book Liberal Fascism opined that Hitler and Mussolini merely held more extreme versions of the philosophy of Hillary Clinton and other modern liberal icons.

Since the election of Donald Trump, the disastrous two-party system has become emboldened, as those who irrationally hate or love him dig their heels into partisan Democrat or Republican rhetoric. Alex Jones, Dinesh D’Souza and others have taken to focusing on the old Democratic Party’s ties to slavery and segregation, and pointing out that Hitler and the Nazis were hardly Reaganites advocating small “gubmint.” Today’s Republicans do, however, share Hitler’s affinity for building up the military. Can’t cut that gargantuan defense budget.

The Nazi platform also called for universal health care, which is anathema to “conservatives” who cling to fond memories of doctors making house calls, and a simpler medical system that disappeared with Richard Nixon’s creation of the HMO profit-driven nightmare we enjoy today. Leftists argue that Donald Trump, despite being the most pro-Israel president of all our pro-Israel presidents, is somehow a “Nazi,” too. His campaign rhetoric against bankers, for instance, still holds more significance with them than the fact he has surrounded himself with former employees of Goldman Sachs.

There is a whole school of thought out there that holds that it’s perfectly fine to “punch a Nazi.” The web site canipunchnazis.com boasts, “It is always OK to punch a Nazi.” This violent mantra has become so popular that establishment newspaper The Boston Globe headlined an article, “Why you shouldn’t punch a Nazi.” One Ben Ferrari actually started a kickstarter campaign called “Always Punch Nazis,” to finance a comic book anthology “about our country’s battle against racism.”…

With the invention of “hate speech,” whatever that is, it was inevitable that some views would not be tolerated by our increasingly authoritarian rulers. Flinging “Nazi” at your opponents is fair game, and now apparently punching them is, too. If it’s considered acceptable to just walk up and punch someone because they “offend” you, then we are no longer a civil society. As long as they are “Nazis,” or “racists,” or “neo-Nazis” or “white supremacists,” or “white nationalists,” that is. But don’t shoot a robber- that’s against the law.

Adolph Hitler never had any idea what he created.

Unvaccinated Children Taken in SWAT Raid – The Organic Prepper

Posted by M. C. on March 30, 2019

Apparently there were no family pets. They are usually the first to go.

https://www.theorganicprepper.com/unvaccinated-children-torn-from-parents-in-horrifying-late-night-swat-raid/

By Dagny Taggart

Warning: If you care about parental rights, this story will infuriate you.

On February 25, a pregnant mother took her 2-year-old son to the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine clinic in Tempe, Arizona because he had a fever of over 100. The doctor instructed the mother to take him to the emergency room because he is unvaccinated and she feared he could have meningitis.

The doctor called the emergency room at Banner Cardon Children’s Medical Center in Mesa to let them know the boy would be arriving.

But after leaving the doctor’s office, the boy showed signs of improvement. He was laughing and playing with his siblings, and his temperature moved closer to normal. Around 6:30 pm, the mother called the doctor to let her know the toddler no longer had a fever and she would not be taking him to the emergency room.

In Arizona, parents may decline vaccinations for their child based on personal, religious, or medical exemptions, but the mother was still concerned that the Arizona Department of Child Safety (DCS) would come after her. One can’t blame her for being afraid, as unvaccinated families have been targets of dystopian crackdowns and witch hunts of late.

The doctor assured her DCS would not come after her. According to police records, the mother then agreed to take her son to the hospital.

This is when things took a particularly nasty turn, reports AZCentral:

About three hours later, the hospital contacted the doctor to advise her that the child had not shown up and the mother wasn’t answering her phone, according to police records. The doctor contacted DCS.

A DCS caseworker called Chandler Police and “requested officers to check the welfare of a two year old infant,” according to police records. A caseworker said he was on his way to the house.

It was about 10:30 p.m. when two police officers knocked on the family’s door. The officers heard someone coughing.

Officer Tyler Cascio wrote in a police report that he knocked on the door several times but no one answered. (source)

The police then asked a neighbor to call the mother to let her know they wanted to speak to her. Meanwhile, the boy’s father contacted the police:

Police dispatch told the officers that a man at the home had called requesting that they call him. They called, and the man identified himself as the sick boy’s father.

The officer said they told the father they needed to enter the home for DCS to check on the child. The father refused, explaining that his son’s “fever broke and he was fine,” according to police records. (source)

Then things escalated.

Despite the father’s attempt to assure police his child was fine, things escalated.

The caseworker informed officers that DCS planned to obtain a “temporary custody notice” from a judge to remove the child for emergency medical aid.

Officers then consulted with the police criminal investigations bureau and SWAT.

Yes, SWAT.

I know – it is outrageous and terrifying.

After 1:00 AM, officers kicked down the family’s door.…

CNBC reports that speaking at the Washington Post’s technology and policy conference on Wednesday, former Facebook chief security officer Alex Stamos explained how Mark Zuckerberg manages to make decisions and business moves that eventually prove profitable but seem like huge gambles initially. According to Stamos, Zuckerberg can do this as he can almost see into the future because the CEO is “sitting on more data about what people want to do online than anyone else in the world.”…

Watch: Netanyahu Campaign Video Boasts of Lecturing Obama in Oval Office

Posted by M. C. on March 29, 2019

No wonder Obama didn’t like Bibi.

Congress invited Bibi to capital hill to lecture Barry on who is in charge.

https://www.breitbart.com/middle-east/2019/03/29/watch-netanyahu-campaign-video-boasts-of-lecturing-obama-in-oval-office/

by BREITBART JERUSALEM

The Times of Israel reports: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu published an election campaign video Thursday showing a contentious meeting he had with former US president Barack Obama and touted his defiance versus the American leader.

The video clip, which was taken from the PBS documentary “Netanyahu at War,” shows footage from the May 2011 Oval Office meeting between Obama and Netanyahu, with the narrator saying the prime minister “lectured” the US president on the Israeli-Palestinian peace process. During the Oval Office meeting, in front of the media, Netanyahu spoke directly to Obama about the complex status of Jerusalem and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Commentators in the PBS documentary were shown describing Netanyahu’s behavior toward Obama as “outrageous” and “humiliating” for the US president. Relations between Netanyahu and Obama were known to be strained throughout the overlap between their terms in office. Netanyahu shared the video on his personal Twitter feed.
