Yellen-The New Inmate Running the Fed

Posted by M. C. on February 14, 2014

I have heard it said that Janet Yellen, new head of the federal print shop, is like Bernanke on steroids.

My take is she does what is expected, believes what she is expected to believe and won’t do anything that may cause her new power to be taken.

More like a submissive on a leash than on steroids.  None the less her recent pronouncements are just so Bernanke.

Quantitative easing is such a success.  Except at the mere utterance of the word “reduce” the stock market takes a 300 point dump.  Oh ye of little faith. Read the rest of this entry »

Quantitative Easing and the Market, Does Anyone Know What is Going On?

Posted by M. C. on June 23, 2013

Bernanke says the Fed will stop buying bonds (ie slowing the printing presses) and the market bails.  What does this mean?

My first thought is that Wall Street has no confidence in near future economic recovery.  For sure there is great dependence in government safety nets and bailouts.  All at the expense of the taxpayer.  Make no mistake fiat money is a tax.  Inflation lowers the value of what little money we have, in essence taking buying power away.

Crap! Obama Won, Yea! Romney Lost – Our Options Are Limited

Posted by M. C. on November 7, 2012

This begins with Jim Thompson’s editorial in the Oct 31 Erie Times. He is taking Rep Mike Kelly to task.

Kelly has done nothing to cancel Bush’s tax cuts for the wealthy, a massive redistribution of wealth to the top 10%.

Obama has stated he is in favor of wealth redistribution. The difference appears to be to whom the money gets redistributed. No mention that every analysis I have seen says the top 20% pays 80% of the tax. No mention the 53% of earners pay all the income tax. Read the rest of this entry »

Free Money

Posted by M. C. on October 21, 2012

A recent letter commented on Romney’s tax (Romney’s Plan Doesn’t Add Up) plan in Sunday’s Erie Times. The writer says it doesn’t add up. He is right. No one’s does. He says lowering taxes won’t cut the deficit. Right again if you assume the economy won’t take a jump as it did after the Bush II cuts. It is apparent to me that government has grown into a monster. What 9/11 Hath Wrought and What to Do About It

Posted by M. C. on September 11, 2012

I have always been of the mind that the reason we are in Iraq is oil and oil pipelines. Initially we were told we had to capture the weapons of mass destruction. When the public discovered there were no WMDs the reason changed to freeing the people from their yoke. We are performing our divine duty bestowing the nation with democracy they don’t want. Edukashun-DEA style

Mary Sanchez recently had a column taking Michelle Bachmann to task which illustrates the thinking that has us sliding toward disaster. Bachmann rightly advocates shutting down the Department of Education. Read the rest of this entry »
