Your Phone Is Listening and it’s Not Paranoia

VICE is playing this down, strange. The fact is you ARE be eavesdropped.

Because unless you’re a journalist, a lawyer, or have some kind of role with sensitive information, the access of your data is only really going to advertisers.

Does this sentence make sense to you? That aside your information goes to advertisers through Google, Facebook, Amazon etc. The point should be what is being done with your info that we aren’t told about.  There is an agenda.

A couple years ago, something strange happened. A friend and I were sitting at a bar, iPhones in pockets, discussing our recent trips in Japan and how we’d like to go back. The very next day, we both received pop-up ads on Facebook about cheap return flights to Tokyo. It seemed like just a spooky coincidence, but then everyone seems to have a story about their smartphone listening to them. So is this just paranoia, or are our smartphones actually listening? Pentagon contract became identity crisis for Google

It tells you something when the same Google employees that gleefully work on more and better ways to spy, data mine and sell you to the highest bidder and the government balk at Google’s weaponized AI program.

It tells you something about Dr. Fei-Fei Li and the employees that remain.

  • This data can be compiled into a ledger that details your actions and preferences
  • This can be used to control behaviour, help  you reach goals and reshape society
  • Google admits the video is ‘disturbing’, but stresses it is a thought experiment

Now, an internal Google video has leaked that provides an unnerving glimpse into how the firm could use that wealth on information to control your behaviour.

The video sets the scene for a Black Mirror-style future in which machines know your needs even before you do, and are able to manipulate you to follow their own agendas.

I have recently removed Google Search from this website and replaced with a search engine without the privacy concerns, but has similar capabilities.   The search bar at the top of the website is the most used and essential feature for you to research the many thousands of pages I’ve published over the last 20 years….

I was shocked when I read that statement from security researcher Nick Petrillo almost eight years ago. But since then, the situation has only gotten worse.

Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations require cell phones to have tracking technology that can pinpoint their precise location, especially in densely-populated areas. Law enforcement, intelligence agencies, and hackers use this data to track you wherever you go. It’s also now possible to merge cellular calling records with location information. Data mining personal information and working for other government agencies like the NSA is OK. Still, even Google employees might have a little integrity. It is hard to believe they didn’t know what Google was about when they signed on.

Watch for the headline “3000 Google employees quit”. But don’t hold your breath.

Google and it’s government masters won’t let this stop them.

We believe that Google should not be in the business of war. Therefore we ask that Project Maven be cancelled and that Google draft, publicize and enforce a clear policy stating that neither Google nor its contractors will ever build warfare technology.

Google is implementing Project Maven, a customized AI surveillance engine that uses “wide area motion imagery” data captured by US government drones to detect vehicles and other objects, track their motions and provide results to the Department of Defense.

Recently, Googlers voiced concerns about Maven internally. Diane Greene responded, assuring them that the technology will not “operate or fly drones” and “will not be used to launch weapons”. While this eliminates a narrow set of direct applications, the technology is being built for the military, and once it’s delivered it could easily be used to assist in these tasks. Never mind Facebook, Google is the all-seeing ‘big brother’ you should know about — RT US News

Google doesn’t do this behind your back. On a desktop, Google Chrome allows sites to access your computer’s camera and microphone by default. On a smartphone, agreeing to an app’s terms of service allows the app to do nearly anything, from accessing your phone’s camera and location, to recording your calls and log your messages. The Facebook app, for example, requires 44 such permissions.

But amid all the furor, one monolithic entity has continued to harvest data from billions of people worldwide. The data gathered includes a precise log of your every move and every internet search you’ve ever made, every email you’ve ever sent, your workout routine, your favourite food, and every photo you’ve ever taken. And you have allowed it to happen to yourself, for the sake of better service and more relevant advertising.

Google is a ‘Big Brother’ with capabilities beyond George Orwell’s wildest nightmares. These capabilities are all the more chilling after Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc., cut its famous “don’t be evil” line from its code of conduct in 2015. Read the rest of this entry »

(ANTIMEDIA) — The salient facts of the new Cambridge Analytica scandal are bad, and the optics are even worse for Facebook, which is already facing multiple battles both in legal courts and the court of public opinion. But this really is just the spilled pot of a long-boiling problem: growing discomfort within our citizen-consumer class over predatory data mining and the unaccountable shadow agencies and corporations being given access to our private lives via social networks. Big Brother has been privatized, and it may turn out to be far more dangerous than anything George Orwell predicted.

Typically, Facebook has been able to duck, dodge, juke, and jive its way out of such entanglements because of the sheer ubiquity of social media in our daily lives, the market value of the company, and its ability to manipulate public opinion. But this time is different. The company hit the politicized buzzsaw of the 2016 election, which is still grinding and sparking from accusations concerning the use of Facebook to spread propaganda (which in reality, of course, is nothing new). Google’s Attempt To Censor ‘Gun’ Backfires Spectacularly

Mozilla FireFox, Duckduckgo, Opera, Start Page…there are so many alternatives to Deep State friendly Google that do not store and track your searches.

We know by now that Google is not really our friend. While it is the largest search engine in the world and owns the second largest (YouTube), it also seems to think that, because it’s a private company and has the right to do certain things, it’s obligated to do those certain things.

Most recently, the search engine decided to restrict what you could use its Shopping feature for. They didn’t want you looking up anything to do with guns.

It did not go as planned.

Early Tuesday morning, Internet shoppers started noticing and documenting the digital gaffes. Users received error notices when they searched for glue guns and water guns, toy guns and airsoft guns, nail guns and nerf guns. The algorithm is apparently so strict that even the color “burgundy” triggered an error because it includes “gun” in the spelling.

This set off something of a parlor game on social media. Turns out, adults don’t like it when faceless bureaucrats try enforcing arbitrary restrictions — federal, corporate, or otherwise.

Casey “Stable Genius” Smith found that Google now censors “Laguna Beach.”

Other censored searches included the movie Top Gun, bands like Velvet Revolver and the Sex Pistols, and even the Indianapolis Colts.
