In 2011, I observed directly and graphically that our war, which was ten years old at the time, had failed to accomplish our objectives and reportedthat U.S. leaders were claiming success where they knew there was none.
US Government. Lying about war for 240 years.

It’s time for the Washington foreign-policy establishment to consider the seemingly unthinkable: perpetual foreign-military operations and occupations do not enhance American national security and economic prosperity.
Overwhelming evidence—currently on painful display in Syria, Afghanistan and Yemen —reveals the stark reality that these operations drain our nation of critical resources, produces a slow-bleed of U.S. troops, and deteriorates our ability to respond to potentially existential battles in the future. Changes must be urgently made if we are to reverse this negative condition… Read the rest of this entry »

The first strange thing to note is that the US, UK and France boycotted the meeting, denouncing Russia for producing the witnesses and calling the event an “obscene masquerade” and “theatre”.
The west closes its ears to Douma testimony
The response from the US, UK and France to a briefing on Thursday at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in the Hague was perverse, to say the least. Russia had brought 17 witnesses from Douma who stated that there had been no chemical weapons attack there earlier this month – the pretext for an illegal air strike on Syria by the three western states.
The witnesses, a mix of victims and the doctors who treated them, told accounts that confirmed a report provided last week from Douma by British reporter Robert Fisk – a report, it should be noted, that has been almost entirely blanked by the western media. According to the testimony provided at the OPCW, the victims shown in a video from the site of the alleged attack were actually suffering from the effects of inhaling dust after a bombing raid, not gas. The problem is inherent for the United States in its need to keep alive a war machine based on inflated military spending that creates enormous pockets of corruption and inefficiency. Just look at the F-35 project and its constant problems. Although Moscow’s spending is less than twelve times that of the United States, it has succeeded in developing systems like hypersonic missiles that are still in the testing phase in the United States, or systems like the S-500, which the US does not possess.
All those missiles on just a few targets and no sign of gas.

Recapping the information on the strike, the US and its allies used the following assets:
● 2 destroyers (USS Laboon, USS Higgins)
● 1 US cruiser (USS Monterey)
● 1 French frigate (Georges Leygues)
● 5 Rafale jets
● 4 Mirage 2000-5F
● 4 British Tornado fighter-bombers
● Virginia-class submarine USS John Warner
● 2 US B-1B bombers
Their ordnance brought to bear consisted of the following: Read the rest of this entry »

Compared to other brutal Mideast leaders, Assad is pretty weak tea. The US/British propaganda effort to paint Assad in blackest colors is having a difficult time.
You have to know how to take the money and do what you are told, or at least make it look that way. That being said, not everyone has the skillset of Pakistan’s Hamid Kharzai.

Butcher of Damascus. Gasser of children. Baby Killer of Syria. Tool of Moscow. Cruel despot. Monster.
These are all names the western media and politicians routinely heap on Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad. He has now become the top Mideast villain, the man we love to hate.
As a veteran Mideast watcher, I find all this hard to swallow. Compared to other brutal Mideast leaders, Assad is pretty weak tea. The US/British propaganda effort to paint Assad in blackest colors is having a difficult time. Read the rest of this entry »

The whizzing rocket foray against Syria by the US and Britain and France was a charade. This mini-blitz in a futile quasi-macho display of military bangity-bang was designed to show the world that Trump Washington was determined to prove its superiority over everyone. But it turned into farce. It was what we in the Australian forces during the Vietnam War used to call a ‘Yippee Shoot’ — a gesture of frustration defined as “an unauthorised, illegal discharge of multiple weapons into the bush.”
I hope the eight missiles fired by the UK didn’t deplete their (likely) US paid for NATO weapons ‘stockpile’. You gotta do what you gotta do to keep your top tier US vassal status.
Much like The psycho dictator of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, became notorious for boiling his detainees alive after torturing them brutally. Well, no it seems he’s gone in the other direction. And just in time, too, for the Obama administration to fully embrace them with aid and weapons.

..Theresa May’s reference to “our brave British servicemen and women” was a cynical ploy designed to appeal to the pretentious patriotism that pervades the United Kingdom. In her recourse to flag-waving ultra-nationalism she was enthusiastically joined by most news media which leap on the patriotism bandwagon and imply that anyone who objects to this useless fandango of missile technology must be a non-patriot. …The White Helmets were founded in Turkey by a former British MI5 officer named James Le Mesurier. The group has received at least $55 million from the UK government and an additional $23 million from the U.S. government, both of whom have regime change interests in the region. According to data agency Gov Tribe, the U.S. government has given at least $339.6 million in foreign aid to groups attempting to bring about a “transition” in Syria.
The “transition” that the White Helmets and affiliated groups are hoping to bring in Syria is far from peaceful and well-intentioned. Members of the WH have been filmed and photographed standing and celebrating with Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorists after battles, helping to conduct public executions, and they were even caught carrying around headless bodies.
The Syria Campaign has attempted to cover up these atrocities by dismissing video evidence as “Russian propaganda,” a familiar excuse that has been parroted by government representatives in the U.S. and the UK.

…the U.S. Army’s publication “Special Forces Foreign Internal Defense Tactics Techniques and Procedures for Special Forces” recommends funding terrorists for regime change operations and using false flag attacks to destabilize regimes that were unfriendly to western interests.

To get around the obstacle of public opinion, governments have an extensive history of lying their way into war. This is hard to believe for people who think that government has their best interest in mind, but it is something that rulers have been doing since the beginning of time. In the modern United States, people are led to believe that the establishment accidentally flounders its way into war with the good intentions of protecting the country from harm or liberating an ally in distress.
This strategy of deception was illustrated by the Nazi propagandist Herman Goering, who famously said:
…Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” Read the rest of this entry »

…To its credit, The New York Times — still with blood on its hands from its unwholesome publishing of Judith Miller’s pro-Iraq War screeds — has printed statements by those who oppose rushing into war with Syria. “We would prefer to start with a proper investigation,” the newspaper quoted Britain’s ambassador to the United Nations. It also ran letters to the editor that expressed doubts about Syria’s motivations and Trump’s trustworthiness.
Nowhere to be found was a pacifist: someone who opposes war, all war, no matter what. Nor were there any anti-interventionists: people who say Syria is not our business and should be left to sort out its own affairs. Read the rest of this entry »

Americans desperate for news from the Syrian front, where an alleged chemical attack has prompted the Trump administration to consider a military strike against Damascus, are in for a real disappointment. Any balanced discussion of a possible military offensive against Syria, which Moscow has warned would have “grave consequences,” has been swept clean from the news slate.
On Wednesday morning, in an apparent state of wishful thinking mixed with a dash of masochism, I consulted multiple US news sites to see how the Syrian crisis was being reported. Expecting to find large-font headlines warning of a possible military offensive, not to mention World War 3, I was greeted instead with multi-layered stories on former porn star, Stormy Daniels, and her 10-year old affair with Donald Trump. I’m guessing there was a Russian connection to that salacious story somewhere, but exactly where I could not immediately say. Read the rest of this entry »

World War III: The False Narrative that Fuels Conflict in Syria and Beyond
Quick catch-up:
Amid uprisings in Libya and Egypt, in 2011 Syrians rebelled against their own oppressive government.
Documents from Wikileaks show that the U.S. State Department wanted to help rebels overthrow Syrian ruler Assad in order to strengthen Israel’s position against Iran.
Iran, Syria, and Russia are the main allies in the region with conflicting interests of the USA and Israel.
Turkey is harder to peg. Read the rest of this entry »
