By Walter E. Williams
One of the best statements of how the Framers saw the role of the federal government is found in Federalist Paper 45, written by James Madison, who is known as the “Father of the Constitution”: “The powers delegated by the proposed Constitution to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the State governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects, as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce. … The powers reserved to the several States will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people.” Today’s reality is the polar opposite of that vision. The powers of the federal government are numerous and indefinite, and those of state governments are few and defined.
If confirmed, Brett Kavanaugh will bring to the U.S. Supreme Court a vision closer to that of the Framers than the vision of those who believe that the Constitution is a “living document.” Those Americans rallying against Kavanaugh’s confirmation are really against the U.S. Constitution rather than the man — Judge Kavanaugh — whom I believe would take seriously his oath of office to uphold and defend the Constitution.

You Have the Right To Remain Innocent
By Arsee in AL
Ever wonder why every cop that is accused of something and investigated is suddenly unavailable for comment and is immediately assigned an attorney who has the same, universal reply to the curious public, “We have no comment at this time”. And all while their co-workers are out there using all the power of education, training, and intimidation, along with every dirty trick in the book, to persuade everyone else to spill their guts immediately? Read this book to find out the entire, interesting truth… Read the rest of this entry »

…In a speech at his alma mater—the University of Texas— on February 1, ahead of a five-nation Latin American tour, U.S. Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson declared that many people in Latin America “still live under the oppression of tyranny.” He then singled out the regime in Venezuela:
Tillerson took some questions after his speech. A senior studying government asked a question regarding Venezuela:
So a commonly proposed solution to a lot of the problems in the country is the removal of President Maduro from power. In your opinion, is this removal necessary, and what could the U.S.’s role be in the possible regime change, especially considering the turmoil that could surmount from such a change?
Here is Tillerson’s response:

That thing which progressives consider an ever evolving document, the Constitution, has stopped evolving. It is dead.

…The argument used to justify the possible Flynn entrapment by the FBI, i.e. that there was unauthorized contact with a foreign official, is in itself curious as such contact is not in itself illegal. And it also opens the door to the Bureau’s investigating other individuals who have committed no crime but who find that they cannot recall details of phone calls they were parties to that were being recorded by the government. That can easily be construed as “lying” or “perjury” with consequences that include possible prison time.

Outside Independence Hall when
the Constitutional Convention of 1787 ended,
Mrs. Powel of Philadelphia asked Benjamin Franklin,
“Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?”
With no hesitation whatsoever, Franklin responded,
“A republic, if you can keep it.”

If anyone thinking the government will stop at hacking one Apple phone just isn’t thinking. There are two reasons the FBI will not back off on this issue.
1. They want to set a precedent and get an ‘open sesame’ for any and all encrypted devices. Anyone saying different is either a fool or a liar.
2. The FBI do not want to made to look the fool in the off-chance Apple should win. Read the rest of this entry »

An Erie Times letter writer’s attempt to separate the Mundane’s from their guns, via Article 1 of the Constitution is a nice try but I believe flawed.
We must start with the idea that many founder’s did not want a standing army. They feared it would be used against the citizenry. They may have had some foresight. The government’s (armed) drone surveillance, DHS ammunition stockpiling and FEMA camp construction end game has yet to be played out. The founders also leaned toward a weak central government per the (preferred by some) Articles of Confederation. The vision was no standing armies, just civilians available when called upon to repel foreign invasion, put down domestic insurrection and rogue governmental tyranny. The nation’s defense against enemies without and within was the various state militias. Read the rest of this entry »

Here are some comments on recent campaign excretions from my (former) Senator Santorum and the Newt. The candidates offer quite a strange interpretation of what the Bible expects of us and what the Constitution expects of those who govern.
