Turkey Finally Goes To War In 20 words Or Less-Is The Media Really This Shallow?

Posted by M. C. on July 27, 2015

A few days ago I heard the following paraphrased soundbite on NPR.

Turkey has launched attacks in Syria against ISIS and Kurdish rebels.

Is that it? Such an important development in a complex context and all we get is a dozen or so words.

Turkey has been covertly aiding ISIS and Al Qaida because they are doing the ‘regime change’ heavy lifting in Shiite Syria. Al Qaida has been allowed to freely cross the Turkish border into Syria. Thanks to Seymour Hersch we know Turkey supplied ‘moderate’ Al Qaida with the chemical weapons used in the attacks blamed on Assad. ISIS bad, Al Qaida not so much.

Maybe all is not as presented to us. The key is in the attacks on the Kurds. This may be where most of the Turkish effort is going. Read the rest of this entry »

I Am From the Government and Here to Help

Posted by M. C. on February 9, 2014

I was listening to a government worker bee on NPR tell us how medical costs are behind our federal debt. I can think of several other good candidates.

Empire building

Perpetual war

War on drugs

War on poverty

Department of education

Bridges to nowhere

My take is government is the reason government pays so much for health care.

Pick some industries that are not heavily regulated, if you can.

Televisions, telephones and computers come to mind. Aside from implanting spy ware in software, confiscating and selling electromagnetic spectra I don’t think government interferes with these industries, relatively. The end result of this non-interference is increasing quality and features and decreasing prices. Read the rest of this entry »

Public Broadcasting – A Spigot For It’s Progressive Supporters

Posted by M. C. on November 27, 2013

Personal research I did long ago indicated to me that the many “Foundations” that fund public broadcasting are Progressive and anti-second amendment.

I believe in the 1990s there was a week-long NPR series dedicated to anti-gun propaganda.   I immediately gave up contributing to my local station.  I have not seen any general improvements in the intervening years.

Now we have the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, a name familiar to public media viewers, funding Families USA to the tune of $1.1Million.  Families USA is connected with the Obama Administration, The Herndon Alliance and Enroll USA, the groups promoting Obamacare enrollment.  See here. NPR Kick Starts Hillary 2016 Campaign

Posted by M. C. on February 1, 2013

If someone can come up with anything positive from the last four years please let me know.

I had another NPR moment on the way to work.  Today is Hillary’s last official day as Secretary of State.  It is definitely reason to celebrate.  Oh my, her popularity is sooo high!

The interviewees, particularly Clinton acolyte Dee Dee Meyers, went on and on about how Hillary had accomplished so much.  Oddly no one mentioned anything specific aside from her being a “veteran”.  I can’t think of anything myself beyond enabling and lining the pockets of kleptocrat Hamid Karzai along with his equally corrupt brother.

The job of a Secretary of State is to solve issues diplomatically.  What has been “solved” in four years?  We are threatening our banker China and Iran militarily.  The cold war with Russia is heating up.  We are at war in Africa as well in several Middle East countries.  If someone can come up with anything positive from the last four years please let me know.  Oh wait! Ten Years of Wasted American Lives in Afghanistan

Posted by M. C. on September 26, 2011

I heard on NPR this morning that after ten years of recruitment and training, the Afghan defense forces are totally worthless.  So the US training command is doubling the number of training personnel “in country”, adding 800 “Trainers”.  I think I will call this military Keynesianism.  If you are losing big-time, fix the problem by throwing a bunch more (money, lives) down the black hole.  I won’t bore you with Einstein’s definition of insanity.  I am sure this was OK’d by the Obamatron, who gave it his bobble-headed official pentagon rubber stamp of approval.  If you were wondering why the USA is going to hell in a handbasket, you ought to be able to stop wondering.  Just for the fun of it check out this monograph about Republicans and why Obama is no different from Bush.  In things military I think Bush may have had something of a plan in mind.  A single-celled plan maybe, but a plan.  Obama just gets led by a five sided collar.
