If it’s the latter then realize the opportunity is here to direct that energy towards what comes next. What comes after the election will require leadership and skill. It will require patience, temperance and most importantly, courage.
It will require people willing to step up, be better and lead. And if you don’t like Trump’s leadership, fine. What will you do to counter it…. and posting memes on Twitter isn’t an answer.
t means stating without irony that the State is truly immoral but you voted anyway. Not because you love Trump, though he’s hilarious, but because you are willing to find common ground with people who you disagree with but who also stand athwart the tide of authoritarian control.
The people you are trying to persuade will respect you for that. The ideas you have will get a better audience.
I used to be that guy. I know what that looks like. Guess what? It looks an awful lot like despair.
And if that’s the best we libertarians have to offer, then this fight for the individual’s spirit, regardless of what happens in this election, is already over.
https://tomluongo.me/2020/11/02/lesson-for-libertarians-trump-rallies-struggle-sessions/
This election season hasn’t been about Trump versus Biden. It hasn’t been about capitalism versus socialism.
It’s not even about liberty versus authority.
As I said in my last article this election is about a simple choice, facing a chaotic future with courage or fear.
Regardless of who wins, my many libertarian friends and colleagues are correct that the ship of state cannot and will not be turned at this point in any meaningful way.
There are forces at work which will unleash hell on earth if Trump wins, which he should.
If the past four years have taught us anything it should have taught us that.
What’s on the ballot tomorrow is something much larger, however, because hundreds of millions of people in the U.S. and Europe are facing an existential choice on both sides of the power dynamic.
The People sense the closing off of escape routes by an oligarch class that rightly sees their institutional power waning in the face of rapid decentralization of information.
Because of this, an inevitable power struggle has ensued. This election has taken on a quality that transcends the practical nature of elections — who will run the consensual hallucination that is the State.
The Davos Crowd is in full control at the moment in Europe and attempting The Black Revolution here in the U.S. They will enact as much of their Great Reset as they can and play every card in their hand and dirty trick in their bag to achieve it.
This election is a nexus, a singularity, that has become an opportunity for an inflection point in history, one where ideas that were forced into the fringe of the political discourse during the last cycle have the opportunity for a real audience in the next one.
And the question I have for libertarians is, “Are you ready to lead or are you going to sit aloof, arms folded, and miss your chance?”
From what I’ve seen so far it’s not promising.
Donald Trump is no Ron Paul, but, honestly, libertarian commentators were moaning about Ron in 2008 and 2012. He didn’t pass the purity test they said and he was encouraging people into the vortex of politics.
That was the wrong read then and it’s the wrong read now.
As Trump holds rally after rally around the country, bringing literally millions of people together a statement has been made.
Courage trumps fear.
Even Obama couldn’t pull crowds like Trump has. This is unprecedented in American politics.
I contend the symbolism of this election far outweighs all other considerations. There’s a spirit animating this election unlike any other I’ve witnessed because not of who Trump is but what he represents.
Earlier in the year, post-George Floyd, the picture was very different. It was much darker. BLM and Antifa, thanks to corporate sponsorship and billions in oligarch money, ran wild in the streets.
Dressed in black bloc, chanting slogans, throwing rocks, sucker-punching suburbanites and burning cities they took over the streets in a crude attempt to force change onto people already scared over a virus.
Videos of white people washing the feet of their new black masters were all over social media. Struggle sessions were brought to diners forced to eat outside thanks to stupid COVID-19 social distancing rules.
With government assistance (because communists can’t build anything of value on their own) they set up the CHAZ in Seattle and failed miserably in places like Atlanta.
All of these projects, however, lost their momentum the moment it became obvious Americans weren’t buying any of it.
They bought guns instead.
They may have bought guns out of fear, but they bought them anyway.
Marxism has been the dominant political philosophy of this past cycle, pushing the nascent ideas of extreme individualism to the fringe.
And it is reaching for the gold ring of ultimate power. The orgy of violence its adherents call for is here. There’s no avoiding it but it doesn’t have to become an all-consuming jihad against the human spirit like it has been in the past – think Cambodia, Vietnam, the U.S.S.R and, of course, Germany.
Millions of Americans saw this future and recoiled from it. Right into the arms of Donald Trump who preached faith in them.
That’s where these mind-blowing rallies, flotillas, caravans and spontaneous uprisings supporting Trump are coming from. Improperly harnessed, that energy can be turned into something truly ugly.
This should be the signal for libertarians to come down off their mountains and declare themselves ready to lead the restitution of culture and civilized behavior.
Marxism can’t bring anything except a few thousand paid agitators to politically-sympathetic jurisdictions to loot, steal and bully people.
The mere threat of liberty brings out millions to sing ‘God Bless America.”
Because the Trump movement is a celebration of that which should unite us — family, faith, community, dignity. After decades of the Marxists dividing us into ever smaller echo chambers we were supposed to be demoralized and beaten.
And judging from what I see from great thinkers like Robert Higgs I can only conclude they are just that, encouraging Ancaps to think this is a winning strategy.
This response is a defense mechanism of people without the capacity to lead.
Bob is right there are problems with Trump but where he sees dismay I see hope.
Why? Again, because this election isn’t about Trump or the State. It’s not about the nation. It’s about the assault on our communities, faith, family and sense of self.
It is an assault on the value of a human life.
And the question we are facing, imperfectly, is, “Are we the Last Man clinging to life like a barnacle in a violent sea or something greater; something with vitality, possessed with the spark of the creative, or even the divine?”
The people at those Trump rallies are anything but barnacles. And Twitter is full of supposed libertarians cynically reminding us that voting doesn’t matter.
It doesn’t, until it does.
For all his faults, Trump did what so many libertarians refuse to do, come off the mountain and lead. He could do this because Ron Paul motivated the people to declare they wanted some of what libertarians are selling.
In marketing terms these are ‘hot leads.’
And we don’t listen to them.
We talk at them, if not down to them.
We treat them exactly as Antifa and BLM treat those that don’t agree with them, as beneath them. People wonder why I hate the term, “sheeple.” Shouldn’t it be obvious? Because you don’t denigrate the people you’re trying to convince to buy what you’re selling.
So, my next question is, “Do you want to be right or do you want to help make a better world?”
Because even if we have the right ideas, we won’t be given that opportunity if we don’t first do the smallest thing we can do, stand next to them. Be a part of something not perpetually outside of it.
If that means voting, then vote. The symbolism should be clear enough.
It means stating without irony that the State is truly immoral but you voted anyway.

The last line of the book is ominous (pg46), “We are indeed in uncharted waters surrounded by blood-thirsty sharks.” This analogy is in contrast to the classic analogy of frogs in a pot slowly brought to boil.

I did something recently that every LRC reader should also consider doing. I made a donation to the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity and thereby received a copy of Dr. Paul’s new book The End of Unerarned Opulence. This little gem is truely Ron Paul’s gift of wisdom to the world. Of course, he is well known to LRC readers as a man of great experience, learning, and judgement. In this book he reflects on the state of the United States in these difficult times. He uses the legend of Dr. Faustus (maybe we should insert Dr. Fauci?) and his pact with the devil as a foil to our moral decline due to our pact with the Federal Reserve and its fiat money. Listed below are my selection of highlights that strike at the heart of our dilemma.
(pg16) Our Founders warned us that without a moral society liberty is unworkable. Though perfection is not achievable, liberty’s basic concept must be understood and accepted by the thought-leaders of society for it to succeed. Simply put, for a free society to exist, the government must protect the right of all persons to life, liberty, and property, and reject aggression as a tool for molding social and economic conciditions. The mess in which we today find ourselves has resulted from the majority of the people refusing to accept this basic rule of decency and honor.
(pg25) The goal orchestrated by the anti-police street violence, is not justice. It’s designed to promote political and economic chaos in order to usher in a radical Marxist political system which they falsely claim will be a utopian system.
(pg34) However, what was not yet understood was the devil’s ability, in this nearly 50 year period [since Nixon removed the last vestige of the gold standard in 1971] of free stuff, opulence, overweening power, and the people’s loss of a moral compass, to establish all the parameters needed to make it a cake-walk for Marxism to take over our entire economic and social system. The existing system of corporatism has become a close ally of modern-day Marxism, and even though they seem to be “strange bedfellows,” they are joined at the hip with the desire to share in the loot and power available to totalitarian governments.
(pg40) The problem with that approach [government imposing morality] is the process of the dictatorial rules to control personal behavior are all dependent on the immoral use of force by the special interests that have gained control over government. Constitutions, no matter how well written, cannot create a moral people. It is the people, not the government, who are responsible for saving America’s soul.
I have written about what can be done as an individual. But what should we expect from our leaders (Mr. Trump?) that could actually work in this fetid environment. Dr. Paul suggests two sites of action that I think could start the long process of regeneration of the body politic. He states that, (pg17) “What needs to be done with the monetary system is not complex. Replace it with honest money. Eliminate the Federal Reserve. Legalize competition.” I totally agree. Could’t the legal tender laws simply be repealed allowing complete open competition in money? Wouldn’t this eventually force the Federal Reserve in the direction of honest money. Dr. Paul also noted, (Pg43) “The day that the “nail in the coffin” ended the Republic, was November 22, 1963. The CIA assissinated John F. Kennedy on that date and carried out a successful coup. Subsequently even the illusion of the fake idealism of “Camelot” was smothered.” If Trump had really followed through on the release of documents still classified and emphasized the truth of this one event (and then also on the assassinations of Dr. King and Robert Kennedy) he might have blunted the ability of the deep state to continue their assault on his own presidency. He should still do this even at this late date.
The last line of the book is ominous (pg46), “We are indeed in uncharted waters surrounded by blood-thirsty sharks.” This analogy is in contrast to the classic analogy of frogs in a pot slowly brought to boil. Dr. Paul’s analogy gives me hope that people will finally recognize the danger of being in the water surrounded by sharks and act to protect themselves from this obvious danger. Perhaps the elites who have foisted this potential dystopia on us have gone too far too fast.

The Masters of the Universe strike down anyone that blasphemes the (false god) WHO.
As we have pointed out on the Liberty Report several times – probably contributing to our being targeted – the World Health Organization is not even led by a doctor, but by a violent Ethiopian communist politician.
If you dare criticize a violent Ethiopian communist, you will be banned from YouTube. It seems that simple.

The former Texas congressman and presidential candidate said that he wasn’t surprised by reports of US involvement in demonstrations that have rocked Kong Hong since March.
“No matter where there’s a revolution starting or stirring, we’re there, because we have a lot at stake,” he told Politicking host Larry King.
Paul sharply criticized statements made by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other US lawmakers warning China of consequences if the crisis in Hong Kong wasn’t settled to Washington’s liking.
He argued that using political unrest in the semi-autonomous territory to “attack” China is “foolish.”

This is how our kids defend oil… America. By doing SA’s and Israel’s dirty work.
Think about that the next time you see a young paraplegic or when you are at a military celebration that suddenly breaks out into a sporting event.
Remember when Obama said was sending 275 troops to Iraq for support and training? It didn’t take long for that number to reach many thousand.
We can’t defeat ME countries that are barely out of the stone-age militarily. Iran is bigger than Afghanistan and Iraq combined and has a real army with Russia as an Allie.
Iran has never attacked US and poses no threat. Iran does pose a threat to SA’s dream of a pan Sunni Islamic state. You remember Saudi Arabia, it is the country that sponsored 9/11 and we pay them back by supplying arms and (more) American lives.
I have seen estimates of up to 1 million troops required to defeat Iran in a full blown war. That means the draft and massive expenditure. We can’t afford either.
There has been a lot of talk lately about the practicality of low yield tactical nukes and nuclear upgrade.
Coincidence?
https://news.antiwar.com/2019/07/18/us-poised-to-send-500-troops-to-saudi-arabia-amid-iran-tensions/
After satellite images showed facilities being prepared for them, US officials were quoted in the media as saying that there is a plan to send “up to 500” US ground troops to Saudi Arabia in response to Iran tensions.
Former Congressman Ron Paul commented on the matter, both saying it accomplishes very little, and warning that historically having US troops on the Arabian Peninsula has been a source of anger among Islamists. Osama bin Laden specifically attributed his 9/11 attack to the US having troops in his holy land. After 9/11, the US made a point of removing troops from Saudi Arabia, and now seems to be in the process of sending them back…

Economic historian, Burton Fulsom, points out that there’re two types of entrepreneurs: market and political. Market is the entrepreneur based in the private sector, whereas political is lobbying the government for your free goodies that are provided via stealing from the American taxpayers.
https://libertarianinstitute.org/articles/reflections-on-ron-pauls-revolution-taxation-is-theft/
Ron Paul’s Revolution: A Manifesto, is without a doubt a cornerstone and gem in Libertarian literature. Some might call it a “soft landing”, but it’s a fantastic entry into exploring Libertarian thought in a perfectly succinct, enlightening, genius way. No offense to Human Action, but to hell with Human Action! I’m joking of course, but this little guy at a whopping 186 pages (if you include the edition with a chapter on the economic crisis) covers all the basic principles of liberty ammunition for any debate, enlightening conversation, and just straight up knowledge to make you a little less dumb…
In Chapter 4: Economic Freedom, I like to think of this as Ron Paul’s “taxation is theft” chapter, but the Super Saiyan form in an eloquent Ron Paul, Southern Gentleman fashion.
In a free society, or economy in this case, everyone has a right to their life and property. Likewise, you don’t have the right to infringe on anyone else’s property. Don’t hurt people, don’t take their stuff. The government is hurting you by forcing you to pay taxes.
The system is set up where people try to use the government to dominate each other. It’s a welfare pissing contest. The people shouldn’t let government do things that individuals couldn’t get away with (taxation = theft, conscription is slavery, war is mass murder, etc.). Let’s not forget, the poor aren’t the only ones who benefit from the state’s free goodies. The rich manipulate government too. Ron Paul explains that “the rich are more than happy to secure for themselves a share of the loot – for example, in the form of subsidized low-interest loans (as with the Export-Import bank), bailouts when their risky loans go sour, or regulatory schemes that hurt their smaller competitors or make it harder for new ones to enter an industry.”…
Government power should just be used to protect individual rights: life and property, NOT control the economy. That’s OUR job as consumers by voting with our dollar in the free market to say what goods will be provided and a what price. We dictate supply and demand. This creates competition amongst businesses to decrease cost and increase quality. Government only distorts this beautiful equilibrium…
“Given that the politically influential and well connected – neither of which includes the middle class or the poor – are the ones who tend to win privileges and loot from the government, I do not understand why we take for granted that the net result of all this looting is good for those who are lower on the economic ladder.”
-Ron Paul
…Like income tax, the draft is a form of slavery. Those appendages of the state basically legitimize that they own you and you don’t own yourself. You’re not allowed to make decisions for yourself. That’s not freedom. That is slavery. The government will just pity you and let you keep some of the leftovers after you earn it, HOWEVER you earn it! This isn’t how a free society prospers because individuals need as much capital as possible to invest and make an economy blossom. Government prevents this from happening through intervening via taxes, regulations, lobbies, tariffs, sanctions, you name it. Ending the income tax all together and not replacing it with anything at all would cut government revenue (wasted tax payer money) buy 40%, but this idea isn’t discussed because it would destroy the state if placed on the surface in the public eye…
It’s up to us as individuals to find the alternatives to government. That’s why you have economists like Mises who advocate for the Austrian School of Economics. This school of economic thought is based off embracing the free-market. Austrian economics is the sword to slay the dragon of the state. Private actors and entrepreneurs voluntarily making decisions based on their emotions, needs, subjective value, and self-interest. This is the only economic system which will make us the most free.
