Would You Please Remove Your Mask While Talking to Me? – LewRockwell

Posted by M. C. on March 30, 2021

The longer you can be kept from having a child, the better. That act of delaying others or distracting others from having a child is an important focuses of many of bad actors in modernity, because they know what having a child does to a man. It tends to bring the teenage years to a prompt end and to give him focus.

1.) If you know masks don’t work, and

2.) You know that you will no longer be wearing them in your life, and

3.) You know what a lie it is you are perpetuating by wearing a mask, then

4.) I’d like you to ask you to stop letting others lie in your presence.

Stop letting people speak to you while they are masked.

Once you know what is a lie and what is not a lie, it’s not just your moral and ethical duty to not speak the lies, it’s also your moral and ethical duty to challenge the lies spoken in your presence.

That is an important difference between man and child, woman and child. You are one or another. You are not the amorphous gray space of misbehavior known as “teenager,” popularized by marketers after World War Two in order to make money selling to that demographic.

A Person Is Either Child Or Adult

You are either child (one with no reproductive capacity) or adult (one with reproductive capacity). The turning point from childhood to adulthood is when more must be demanded of a person. They are an adult.

Childhood is when men of valor and women of virtue are formed. The adult years are when they are called to action and sharpened into a tool for good, a warrior, one who shapes the world around them and advances causes good and righteous.

Modernity Wants You To Delay Adulthood Indefinitely

Modernity wants you so badly to not recognize that. It wants for you to extend the teenage years, adolescence, not until twenty years of age, not until thirty, but until forty, fifty, sixty, or beyond.

If they can convince you to eschew all responsibility and to outsource any duty that matters, the marketers and others can keep you an emotional and reactive teen all your days. They can keep you as the emotionally manipulated dream customer that they’ve always wanted: a perpetual teenager with money to spend. In that state you are the marketing industry’s ideal.

Take the government’s Universal Basic Income, spend obediently, play video games, smoke weed, watch smut, play with your self, sometimes maybe even screw around with someone else, feed your taste for the exotic in many ways including eating epicurean delights from far-flung cultures, perhaps travel occasionally, do enough good in the world to calm your conscience, when you get worked up give very vocal and easily contained opinions on social media, concern yourself with the most frivolous of things, and most importantly stay docile for the next ten or twenty or thirty years while your betters on this earth put all the right systems in place to figure out what to do with your kind.

The longer you can be kept from having a child, the better. That act of delaying others or distracting others from having a child is an important focuses of many of bad actors in modernity, because they know what having a child does to a man. It tends to bring the teenage years to a prompt end and to give him focus.

Having A Child Can Bring Such Focus To Life, Especially For Men

Having a child does this for both man and woman, but it is an especially poignant and sudden wake-up call for a man, who has no shocking-and-impossible-to-ignore reminder of his ticking biological clock from the first monthly cycle that brought a woman out of childhood, to the day the monthly cycle is no more. That is a gift women are given and that gift is a hard reminder to ignore.

A man’s loins are a most private and sensitive place. A woman’s loins are a most private and sensitive place.

Blood — a sign of harm and danger in all other circumstances, flows from a woman’s loins for a week every four weeks. It’s hard to overestimate the gift nature gave each woman by having her reproductive system scream in this way “Pay attention to me!”

Men have no such favor done to them. Imagine the work it takes to convince a woman that blood flowing from her most vital parts is no big deal and to ignore it until her thirties forties or longer because career first, fun, distraction, too busy, no big deal, and other narratives.

That’s a big victory for the marketers when blood from the loins is able to be made into “Not that big of a deal, just enjoy your extended teenage years.” To blind so many women to their biological clocks and waning reproductive capacity is one of the most significant harms of this era perpetrated on society.

Terminate NATO – The Future of Freedom Foundation

Posted by M. C. on March 30, 2021

How about just leaving China and Russia alone? What’s wrong with that? What’s wrong with other nations becoming prosperous? The fact is that NATO should never have been established in the first place. Moreover, the biggest mistake in U.S. history was to convert the federal government to a national-security state. The best thing American could do now is terminate NATO and restore a limited-government republic to our land.

https://www.fff.org/2021/03/19/terminate-nato/

by Jacob G. Hornberger

The Washington Post has published a long piece calling for NATO to take on a new official enemy — China. The piece is written by Sara Bjerg Moller, an assistant professor in the School of Diplomacy and International Relations at Seton Hall University. She argues that after 30 years since losing the Soviet Union as its official enemy and struggling to find a replacement to justify its continued existence, a perfect replacement would be China.

I’ve got a better idea. Let’s just put NATO out of its misery and terminate it.

After all, let’s not forget NATO’s original mission: to defend Europe from the possibility of an invasion by the Soviet Union, which had been America’s and Britain’s World War II partner and ally but which had been converted to their official enemy at the end of the war.

But the likelihood of a Soviet invasion of Europe was always nil. The Soviet Union had been decimated by World War II, especially as a result of the German invasion of the country. Even though the invasion was ultimately repelled and Germany was defeated, the Soviet Union’s industrial capacity had been destroyed, not to mention the millions of Russian citizens who had been killed. The last thing the Soviet Union wanted was another war, especially given that the United States possessed nuclear weapons and had shown a willingness to employ them against large cities.

The advocates of a national-security state in the United States, however, needed a new official enemy to replace Nazi Germany, especially to justify the conversion of the U.S. government from a limited-government republic to a national-security state, a type of governmental structure with omnipotent, non-reviewable powers. The Soviet Union and “godless communism” fit the bill perfectly. The American people were then inculcated with the notion that there was an international communist conspiracy to take over the United States and the rest of the world that was based in Moscow, Russia.

To convince Americans and western Europeans that the Soviet Union posed a grave threat to them, U.S. officials pointed to the postwar Soviet occupations of Eastern Europe and East Germany as examples of communist aggression. They apparently forgot that President Franklin Roosevelt had delivered such lands into the hands of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, who FDR affectionately referred to as his “Uncle Joe,” at their wartime summit in Yalta. Was it really too surprising that Stalin accepted FDR’s gift, especially given that Eastern Europe and East Germany would serve as a buffer against another German invasion of the Soviet Union?

It was within this fervent anti-communist environment that NATO was formed. But in 1989, the Cold War suddenly and unexpectedly came to an end, which, needless to say, put the U.S. national-security establishment and NATO into a panic. After all, the Cold War was the justification for both of these institutions. With no Cold War, they could both be dismantled.

Instead, the national-security establishment simply went into the Middle East and began poking hornets’ nest, which ultimately brought terrorist retaliation, which in turn brought the “war on terrorism,” another racket that has kept the national-security establishment in high cotton.

Meanwhile, unwilling to let Russia go as an official enemy, NATO began gobbling up former members of the Warsaw Pact, with the aim of placing U.S. troops and missiles ever closer to Russia’s borders and with the hope of provoking a reaction, which ultimately came about in Ukraine.

As Moller argues, however, Russia poses no real threat to Europe and, therefore, cannot be seriously considered to be a justification for NATO. Instead, she argues, it’s time to replace Russia with China, owing to China’s rise as an international powerhouse. The reasoning is classic empire-think: If a nation starts to prosper and rise, it’s best to put it down before it gets too large and powerful.

‘Second Amendment in the Firing Line’ – Ron Paul’s 29 Mar. Column

Posted by M. C. on March 30, 2021

https://mailchi.mp/ronpaulinstitute/2a-115342?e=4e0de347c8

Mar 29 – Gun control was already a Biden Administration priority before the recent shootings in Georgia, Colorado, and Virginia. In fact, the House of Representatives passed two gun-control bills weeks before the shootings.

One of the House-passed bills expands background checks to include private sales, including those made at gun shows. Under this bill, someone who is not a licensed federal firearms dealer cannot sell a firearm without first relinquishing it to a federally-licensed dealer. The dealer must then conduct a background check on the prospective purchaser.

The second bill allows the federal government to indefinitely delay a background check, thus indefinitely delaying a gun purchase. Other legislation introduced in Congress would create a national firearms registry, which would only facilitate gun confiscation.

This same legislation would forbid anyone under 21 from owning a gun. The ban does not apply to the military, so it will not stop the majority of gun violence committed by 18-21 year-olds.

The bill requires Americans to obtain a federal license before getting a firearm, but individuals cannot receive a license unless they undergo a psychological evaluation. The psychological evaluation mandate could lead to individuals losing their Second Amendment rights because they once suffered from depression. It could also cause people to lose their Second Amendment rights because someone told the police they may become violent.

Police officers in 20 states and the District of Columbia already have the authority to take away an individual’s Second Amendment rights based on allegations and without giving the individual due process. These “Red Flag” laws are supported by politicians of both parties, including some who claim to be pro-gun rights.

For example, former President Trump supported Red Flag laws. President Trump and Congressional Democrats were on the verge of reaching a “bipartisan” deal to expand Red Flag laws in the fall of 2019. Fortunately, the Democrat attempt to impeach the President ended all efforts at “bipartisan” deals to take away our rights.

A psychological evaluation could also be used to deny an individual Second Amendment rights because they may engage in “domestic terrorism.” Among those likely to be considered as potential “domestic terrorists” are opponents of US foreign policy, mass surveillance, the income tax, the Federal Reserve, and – ironically – gun control.

There is also legislation to reinstate the assault-weapons ban. Like the original ban, which was in effect from 1994-2004, the new legislation bans an arbitrary list of firearms and will do little to reduce gun violence.

Criminals and psychotics are not going to be deterred by background checks and licensing requirements from obtaining a firearm. There will be a black market to service those who cannot obtain firearms by legal means.

By discouraging law-abiding Americans from owning firearms, these laws leave millions of Americans defenseless against gun violence. There is a reason why most mass shootings occur in gun-free zones.

If Congress is serious about protecting Americans from violence, it would repeal all federal gun control laws. A good place to start would be with the Brady background check law and the misnamed “Safe and Gun-Free Schools” law, which leaves children defenseless against mass shooters. Congress ending the unconstitutional and anti-liberty war on drugs would also greatly reduce gun violence. Gun control, like all attempts by government to control our lives, makes us less safe, and less free.

Vaccine Passports: Your Ticket To Tyranny

Posted by M. C. on March 29, 2021

Mainstream media is reporting that the Biden Administration is seriously looking into establishing some kind of Federal vaccine passport system, where Americans who cannot (or will not) prove to the government they have been jabbed with the experimental vaccine will be legally treated as second-class citizens. The system will quickly morph into a copy of China’s “social credit” system, where undesirable behaviors are severely punished. With Covid dying out across the country as herd immunity is reached, “vaccine passports” seems more about more government control than public health.

Journalists Attack the Powerless, Then Self-Victimize to Bar Criticisms of Themselves – Glenn Greenwald

Posted by M. C. on March 29, 2021

The same Gannett/USA Today where people in Philadelphia, York and other places that couldn’t find Erie on a map, dictate what gets printed in “Your” Erie paper.

https://greenwald.substack.com/p/journalists-attack-the-powerless

Glenn Greenwald

The daily newspaper USA Today is the second-most circulated print newspaper in the United States — more than The New York Times and more than double The Washington Post. Only The Wall Street Journal has higher circulation numbers.

On Sunday, the paper published and heavily promoted a repellent article complaining that “defendants accused in the Capitol riot Jan. 6 crowdfund their legal fees online, using popular payment processors and an expanding network of fundraising platforms, despite a crackdown by tech companies.” It provided a road map for snitching on how these private citizens — who are charged with serious felonies by the U.S. Justice Department but as of yet convicted of nothing — are engaged in “a game of cat-and-mouse as they spring from one fundraising tool to another” in order to avoid bans on their ability to raise desperately needed funds to pay their criminal lawyers to mount a vigorous defense.

In other words, the only purpose of the article — headlined: “Insurrection fundraiser: Capitol riot extremists, Trump supporters raise money for lawyer bills online” — was to pressure and shame tech companies to do more to block these criminal defendants from being able to raise funds for their legal fees, and to tattle to tech companies by showing them what techniques these indigent defendants are using to raise money online.

The USA Today reporters went far beyond merely reporting how this fundraising was being conducted. They went so far as to tattle to PayPal and other funding sites on two of those defendants, Joe Biggs and Dominic Pezzola, and then boasted of their success in having their accounts terminated:

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Biggs fundraiser was listed as having received $52,201. Pezzola had received $730. Biggs’ campaign disappeared from the site shortly after USA TODAY inquired about it….

Friday, a USA TODAY reporter donated to Pezzola’s fundraiser using Stripe. Stripe told USA TODAY it does not comment on individual users. A USA TODAY reporter was able to make a $1 donation to Pezzola’s fundraiser using Venmo, a payment app owned by PayPal. After being alerted by USA TODAY, Venmo removed the account.

Soon a PayPal account took its place. PayPal caught that and removed it, too.

Wow, what brave and intrepid journalistic work: speaking truth to power and standing up to major power centers by . . . working as little police officers for tech giants to prevent private citizens from being able to afford criminal lawyers. Clear the shelves for the imminent Pulitzer. Whatever you think about the Capitol riot, everyone has the right to a legal defense and to do what they can to ensure they have the best legal defense possible — especially when the full weight of the Justice Department is crashing down on your head even for non-violent offenses, which is what many of these defendants are charged with due to the politically charged nature of the investigation.

The right to a vigorous defense has always been a central cause of mine as a lawyer and a journalist (it also used to be a central cause of left-wing groups like the ACLU, years ago; it was that same principle that caused then-candidate Kamala Harris to solicit donations last summer that went to protesters charged with violent rioting). A federal prosecutor was recently referred for disciplinary procedures for publicly threatening to charge some of these Capitol protesters with sedition, one of the gravest crimes in the U.S. Code. That is how grave the legal jeopardy is faced by these people trying to raise money for lawyers.

What makes all of this extra grotesque is that, as The Washington Post reported, most of those charged with various crimes in connection with the January 6 Capitol riot, including many whose charges stem just from their presence inside the Capitol, not the use of any violence, are people with serious financial difficulties: not surprising for a country in the middle of a major economic and joblessness crisis, where neoliberalism and global trade deals have destroyed entire industries and communities for decades:

Nearly 60 percent of the people facing charges related to the Capitol riot showed signs of prior money troubles, including bankruptcies, notices of eviction or foreclosure, bad debts, or unpaid taxes over the past two decades, according to a Washington Post analysis of public records for 125 defendants with sufficient information to detail their financial histories. . . . The group’s bankruptcy rate — 18 percent — was nearly twice as high as that of the American public, The Post found. A quarter of them had been sued for money owed to a creditor. And 1 in 5 of them faced losing their home at one point, according to court filings.

This USA Today article is thus yet another example of journalists at major media outlets abusing their platforms to attack and expose anything other than the real power centers which compose the ruling class and govern the U.S.: the CIA, the FBI, security state agencies, Wall Street, Silicon Valley oligarchs. To the extent these journalists pay attention to those entities at all — and they barely ever do — it is to venerate them and mindlessly disseminate their messaging like stenographers, not investigate them. Investigating people who actually wield real power is hard.

The Trans Ploy: Rachel Levine and the Left’s Reality Subversion Trap – LewRockwell

Posted by M. C. on March 29, 2021

Emboldened by their success on the racism front, the left is attempting to subvert more and more obvious aspects of reality. They have become so audacious that they are now publicly challenging undeniable physical facts such as biological maleness and femaleness.

And here is where Dr. Levine comes in. While the left has been cultivating transgenderism for some years now, it was hitherto mostly on the periphery. The national level democrats had not dared to try to impose this agenda openly on the mainstream. But now – having been able to invert reality in other areas – they sense their chance.

https://www.lewrockwell.com/2021/03/vasko-kohlmayer/the-trans-ploy-rachel-levine-and-the-lefts-reality-subversion-trap/

By Vasko Kohlmayer

“Transgendered men do not become women, nor do transgendered women become men. All (including Bruce Jenner) become feminized men or masculinized women, counterfeits or impersonators of the sex with which they ‘identify.’”

– Dr. Paul McHugh, the distinguished professor of psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine

A strange scene unfolded a few weeks ago on Capitol Hill. The setting was the confirmation hearing for the position of the US Assistant Secretary for Health.

The candidate put forth by the Biden administration was one Dr. Rachel Levine, who previously served as Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

The candidate, however, was not your run-of-the-mill physician. Levine is what these days is called a transgender “woman.” In other words, Levine is a biological male who says that he is a woman.

The hearing presented a sight that many people found unsettling. Those who tuned in would see Levine sitting in a citadel of American government dressed in a woman’s clothes wearing a wig and make-up. Anyone who looked more closely could immediately see that the person whose credentials were being examined by the senate committee was no woman, but a middle-aged, somewhat overweight man donning external paraphernalia of womanhood.

Dr. Rachel Levine who has been approved to be the US Assistant Secretary for Health. Dr. Levine is a biological male who says that he is now a woman.

Even a child could recognize the true sex of this person, because no amount of make-up, jewelry, female accessories or painted nails could cover up the obvious fact that Levine is a man. Born Richard Leland Levine, his maleness is encoded on the deepest level of his physical being. As is the case with all biological males, Levine’s cells carry genetic material that contains a pair of XY chromosomes which irreversibly establish his sex as male. As we have pointed out previously, it is not possible for anyone to traverse the biological gap that separates men and women.

Levine himself has, in fact, lived most of his life as a man. For many years he was married to a woman and in the course of his marriage he fathered two children.

And yet, contrary to the obvious physical reality before their eyes, the assembled senators at Levine’s confirmation hearing kept pretending that he is a woman.

By agreeing to behave in this manner, they had fallen into what could be called “The Left’s Reality-Inversion Trap.” Contrary to what some people may think, the left’s push of the transgender agenda is not some temporary embracing of a strange new fad but an essential expression of its modus operandi.

Because its ideology is based on lies, the left has to subvert people’s sense of reality in order to gain and maintain power. It is because of this that the left continually seeks to compel the public to agree to things that are not true. The further we go along this road, the greater the left’s prospects of success. This is the reason why every country where the left has managed to seize control has become a veritable twilight zone where everything goes topsy-turvy. In the communist country of my youth, we had to agree, among other things, that bondage was freedom and freedom was bondage. In that alternative reality the Soviet Union was the freest country on earth while the United States was the most oppressive. Nothing could be further from the truth, but we had to pretend that it was so. The interesting thing was that most people were aware of the truth, but they still went along with the lie. They did this because they were pressured to do so, and the cost of non-compliance could be quite steep.

As the crisis of American society intensifies, the left’s challenge to reality is becoming ever more brazen. Some eight months ago they began claiming in earnest that America is a racist country. This was a bald perversion of truth. The fact is that nowhere in the world are black people (as well as all the other minorities) given so much help, support and leeway as they are in the United States. In fact, American blacks are the most privileged minority in the history of the world. So much so that they enjoy more rights and privileges than the white majority. Just ask any university admissions department. Nevertheless, the lie of racism has gained wide acceptance especially among those of liberal persuasion. Their claims of systemic racism notwithstanding, social justice warriors have still not been able to point to one single racist policy, law, ordinance or rule – whether federal, state or local – in the United States. So complete is the dearth of evidence for their charge that they have been reduced to claiming that racism in America is actually hidden and unconscious. It is, of course, difficult to fight such invisible racism, but we can be sure, they say, that it exists. Your questioning of it is the very proof of its existence with you being the purveyor of this societal malady.

In one of his first acts as President, Joe Biden signed an executive order that forces schools to allow biological boys who identify as “girls” to compete with real girls in sports and use their locker rooms to boot. Shortly after loosening this in-your-face disruption of the natural order of things on the American people, the left plowed ahead with nominating a “transgender” individual for the position of the United States Assistant Secretary of Health.

The main objective behind this move was to desensitize American people to aberration and make it appear normal. What the left essentially did was to present a cross dressing man and say: “This is the woman we have nominated for this high federal post. And even though the candidate is obviously not a woman but a man, you are not allowed to say so.” Sadly, all senators on confirmation committee chose to ignore the proverbial elephant in the room and went along with the travesty. Not one of them asked Dr Levine about his curious attire and comportment. Such question would be completely appropriate in a forum whose objective was to assess the candidate’s suitability for the job. Good judgment is certainly an important qualification for such an important position, and one would have liked to hear what Dr Levine had to say on the obvious incongruity of the whole situation. As an intelligent person who is a Harvard- educated physician, he must know that gender dysphoria has been until very recently treated as a psychiatric condition and that the purpose of the treatment was to align the patients’ mind and thinking with the reality of his or her biological sex. This is clearly the wise and reasonable course of therapy given the poor prospects faced by transgender individuals. We have discussed earlier the negative outcomes and miseries that this lifestyle entails for the vast majority of those who fall victim to it. Also, one would like to hear Dr Levine’s view on the obvious physical impossibility of biological males becoming genuine women and vice versa. The game of pretend that transgender individuals are forced to play surely does not contribute to their psychological stability and emotional well-being. This is certainly part of the reason why depression is so widespread in the transgender community and why the attempted suicide rate there is nearly fifty percent.

We should not let leftists get away with their sabotage of reality and we need to call them out on their deceit. If we allow them to proceed with their lies, they will use their gains to destroy the structure of our society in the same way their brethren have done everywhere they have managed to seize complete power.

By way of update, the Senate voted last week to confirm Dr Levine as Assistant Secretary of Health. The vote went down almost entirely along the partisan lines. The Democrats all stood firmly behind the left’s agenda of reality subversion. However, forty-eight Republicans voted against the nomination. And even though most of those who opposed said they did so because of Levine’s advocacy of puberty blockers for young people suffering from gender dysphoria, one cannot but suspect Levine’s own transgenderism had something to do with the way they cast their vote. This means that they must have heard from their constituents who were disturbed by what they saw at the hearing. This is good news, since it shows that there are many people across this country who oppose the reality-denying excesses of the morally deranged left.

Spain to become the first country to implement a 4-day work week | Disrn

Posted by M. C. on March 29, 2021

40 hours worth of work in 32, in hot, sunny Spain.

This should give the Catalan separatists that extra time they need.

https://disrn.com/news/spain-to-become-the-first-country-to-implement-a-4-day-work-week

by Peter Heck

The country of Spain is about to embark on a 3-year trial period of having a four-day work week rather than five. Spain’s government has opted to use the $59 million recovery fund offered by the European Union to assist roughly 200 companies reorganize their production schedule to fit a 32-hour model instead of 40.

The first year of the trial, the government will fully subsidize the additional costs associated with the change for companies. In year two, that subsidy will drop by 50%, and then by 75% for the last year of the experiment.

The only legal stipulation on the companies is that they maintain full-time contract salaries for their employees even as they adjust to less working hours. In other words, all employees will see their pay stay the same, even as their hours are reduced by eight per week.

“It’s not using the European funds for Spaniards to work less, it’s about seeing how we can improve productivity and competitiveness of our companies,” said lawmaker Héctor Tejero, who is pushing the plan in the Madrid regional assembly.

While many are cautiously optimistic about the plan, others have expressed concern that a pandemic-devastated economy is not a healthy breeding grounds for employment experiments.

Father Jailed For Talking About His Teenage Daughter’s Trans Hormones

Posted by M. C. on March 28, 2021

Canada-Progressive heaven

That border can stay closed.

As previously reported, the BC Supreme Court ordered that Hoogland’s daughter should begin receiving testosterone injections when she was 14 years old, regardless of parental consent. The court further declared that if either of the girl’s parents referred to her “as a girl or with female pronouns,” that parent would be considered guilty of family violence.

https://thefederalist.com/2021/03/26/canadian-father-jailed-for-talking-about-court-ordered-transgendering-of-his-teenage-daughter/

Jeremiah Keenan

By Jeremiah Keenan

Last week, Robert Hoogland was arrested at the British Columbia Supreme Court in Vancouver for speaking against court-ordered testosterone injections for his teenage daughter. Hoogland was denied bail, and Justice Michael Tammen issued an oral decision last Friday confining Hoogland to prison until his case is tried on April 12, 2021.

Hoogland’s arrest has garnered significant attention, nationally and internationally, and prompted an online petition for his release. Noted psychologist and author Jordan Peterson tweeted about the case repeatedly last Thursday, pointing out that he had predicted such imprisonment was “inevitable” back when he took his stand against the “pronoun laws” in Canada’s Bill C16.

The night of this ruling—Feb. 27, 2019—Hoogland granted an interview published in The Federalist in which he refused to obey the court’s demand he refer to his daughter as a girl, “because,” he protested, “she is a girl. Her DNA will not change through all these experiments that they do.” For this, and similar statements, in April of 2019 Rob was deemed guilty of family violence and put under threat of imminent arrest should he dare to refer to his daughter as a girl again, whether in public or in private.

Hoogland kept quiet for the rest of 2019, hoping that if he cooperated with the courts he might be able to get his daughter off testosterone on an appeal. In January 2020, his appeal failed.

Desperate to get his story heard, Hoogland began granting interviews to The Federalist and other outlets in February 2020 in which he criticized by name the doctors involved in prescribing his daughter cross-sex hormones. While Hoogland carefully avoided using his daughter’s name in interviews, he felt he could not fight the laws and rulings if he remained the nameless and faceless “CD” of court documents.

“What kind of father would I be if, let’s say in 5, 10 years my daughter is detransitioning, and she turns to me and says… ‘Why did none of you do anything to stop this? I was a child. None of you stuck your neck out for me back then. You just let me do it because I was a… immature kid, thinking this was something great,’” he said in an interview. “When my daughter asks me that question, I’ll say… ‘I did everything that I possibly could.’”

“Whatever happens to me pales in comparison to what’s already happened to my daughter,” he said then.

Hoogland’s urgent belief that people needed to know what happened to his daughter was certainly not shared by the attorney general of British Columbia, Daniel J. Pruim, or Justice Tammen in court last week. Pruim argued that Hoogland should be denied bail while he awaited trial on the criminal contempt charges brought against him last year.

The Vancouver Cybercrime Unit compiled a lengthy police report documenting when Hoogland referred to his daughter “as his ‘daughter’” and noting that he “[used] female pronouns numerous times.” The cybercrime report also underscored numerous interviews in which Hoogland criticized by name the doctors involved in giving his daughter testosterone.

While the names of those doctors—Brenden Hursh and Wallace Wong—had originally been published by the courts in public documents as public legal records, they were hastily anonymized as negative publicity arose for the case. Wong, a child psychologist who referred Rob’s daughter for testosterone when she was 13, came under particularly heavy fire.

Pro-family activists complained that, according to Wong’s own statements, the youngest client in his children-only “gender therapy” practice was not yet three years old. It also seemed Wong may have hinted to potential clients that by making fake suicide threats (“Pull a stunt. Suicide, every time, [then] they will give you what you need”) they could get the Canadian health-care system to fund their “treatments.” Nevertheless, the court bought the idea that Hoogland’s daughter had to immediately begin taking testosterone in order to avoid suicide.

Tuesday morning before his arrest, Hoogland told me in a phone interview that he did not regret his choice to speak out publicly under his own name. When asked whether he regretted saying Wong and Hursh’s names, he was emphatic: “No.” Hoogland views the doctors as “criminals” who were “doing something wrong,” harming healthy children with cross-sex hormones that render them sterile.

Hoogland’s point of view was not acceptable to Justice Tammen last Friday in court. Noting that Hoogland broke the anonymity bans on doctors’ names deliberately, Tammen concluded that he must be strictly punished.

Tammen pointed out that even after a warrant was issued on March 4 for Hoogland’s arrest, Hoogland still provided an interview to pro-family organization Mass Resistance. Tammen asserted that the anonymity orders and publication ban were “intended to provide privacy and security of the person to [Hoogland’s daughter] and [her] healthcare providers.”

“CD’s detention is necessary to maintain public confidence in the administration of justice,” Tammen declared. Towards the end of the hearing, Hoogland raised his hand to speak. “I do love my child. That’s why I did this,” he said. “I did what I thought was right.”

In an interview shortly before his arrest, Hoogland said what others can do about his case is: “pray—anybody can pray.” And “Educate people. Tell people what’s going on… talk to your neighbor and say, ‘Hey, this is what’s going on in the world’…. To even do a simple thing like that… that’s commendable; that’s courage to me. To even do a simple thing like that.”

Hoogland sits in jail today in the North Fraser Remand Centre in Port Coquitlam, east of Vancouver, until the conclusion of his trial in April.Canadian Father Robert Hoogland Jailed For Speaking Out Against Court Ordered Cross-Sex Hormones for His Own Daughter

Update

On March 26, this author received an update from a close friend of Robert Hoogland’s who has been able to speak with him on the phone a couple of times over the past week. She wrote that “due to covid protocols” Rob is being kept in an individual cell and not being allowed any in-person visits. “He can only [take exercise] for a couple hours a day so the living conditions are not ideal, akin to solitary confinement.”

She expressed concern for Hoogland’s mental health, noting that he has been under “extreme stress for the past 2.5 years” since doctors informed him that they would begin treatments on his daughter on the sole basis of her own consent.

Hoogland’s trial for breaking gag orders is scheduled to begin before Justice Michael Tammen on April 12. If sentenced, he could face up to five years in jail. Why Is Everyone In Texas Not Dying? | ZeroHedge

Posted by M. C. on March 28, 2021

The CDC has a very helpful tool that allows anyone to compare open vs closed states. The results are devastating for those who believe that lockdowns are the way to control a virus. In this chart we compare closed states Massachusetts and California with open states Georgia, Florida, Texas, and South Carolina.

Authored by Jeffrey Tucker via The American Institute for Economic Research,

I’m sitting at a bar in Texas, surrounded by maskless people, looking at folks on the streets walking around like life is normal, talking with nice and friendly faces, feeling like things in the world are more-or-less normal. Cases and deaths attributed to Covid are, like everywhere else, falling dramatically.

If you pay attention only to the media fear campaigns, you would find this confusing. More than two weeks ago, the governor of Texas completely reversed his devastating lockdown policies and repealed all his emergency powers, along with the egregious attacks on rights and liberties.

There was something very un-Texan about those lockdowns. My hotel room is festooned with pictures of cowboys on horses waving guns in the air, along with other depictions of rugged individualism facing down the elements. It’s a caricature but Texans embrace it. Then a new virus came along – as if that had never happened before in Texas – and the new Zoom class took the opposite path, not freedom but imposition and control.

After nearly a year of nonsense, on March 2, 2021, the governor finally said enough is enough and repealed it all. Towns and cities can still engage in Covid-related mischief but at least they are no longer getting cover from the governor’s office.

At that moment, a friend remarked to me that this would be the test we have been waiting for.

A complete repeal of restrictions would lead to mass death, they said. Would it? Did the lockdowns really control the virus? We would soon find out, he theorized.

I knew better. The “test” of whether and to what extent lockdowns control the virus or “suppress outbreaks” (in Anthony Fauci’s words) has been tried all over the world. Every serious empirical examination has shown that the answer is no.

The US has many examples of open states that have generally had better performance in managing the disease than those states that are closed. Georgia already opened on April 24, 2020. South Dakota never shut down. South Carolina opened in May. Florida ended all restrictions in September. In every case, the press howled about the coming slaughter that did not happen. Yes, each open state experienced a seasonality wave in winter but so did the lockdown states.

So it was in Texas. Thanks to this Twitter thread, and some of my own googling, we have a nice archive of predictions about what would happen if Texas opened.

  • California Governor Gavin Newsom said that opening Texas was “absolutely reckless.”
  • Gregg Popovich, head coach of the NBA San Antonio Spurs, said opening was “ridiculous” and “ignorant.”
  • CNN quoted an ICU nurse saying “I’m scared of what this is going to look like.”
  • Vanity Fair went over the top with this headline: “Republican Governors Celebrate COVID Anniversary With Bold Plan to Kill Another 500,000 Americans.”
  • There was the inevitable Dr. Fauci: “It just is inexplicable why you would want to pull back now.”
  • Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke of Texas revealed himself to be a full-blown lockdowner: It’s a “big mistake,” he said. “It’s hard to escape the conclusion that it’s also a cult of death.” He accused the governor of “sacrificing the lives of our fellow Texans … for political gain.”
  • James Hamblin, a doctor and writer for the Atlantic, said in a Tweet liked by 20K people: “Ending precautions now is like entering the last miles of a marathon and taking off your shoes and eating several hot dogs.”
  • Bestselling author Kurt Eichenwald flipped out: “Goddamn. Texas already has FIVE variants that have turned up: Britain, South Africa, Brazil, New York & CA. The NY and CA variants could weaken vaccine effectiveness. And now idiot @GregAbbott_TX throws open the state.” He further called the government “murderous.”
  • Epidemiologist Whitney Robinson wrote: “I feel genuinely sad. There are people who are going to get sick and die bc of avoidable infections they get in the next few weeks. It’s demoralizing.”
  • Pundit Bill Kristol (I had no idea that he was a lockdowner) wrote: “Gov. Abbott is going to be responsible for more avoidable COVID hospitalizations and deaths than all the undocumented immigrants coming across the Texas border put together.”
  • Health pundit Bob Wachter said the decision to open was “unforgivable.”
  • Virus guru Michael Osterholm told CNN: “We’re walking into the mouth of the monster. We simply are.”
  • Joe Biden famously said that the Texas decision to open reflected “Neanderthal thinking.”
  • Nutritionist Eric Feigl-Ding said that the decision makes him want to “vomit so bad.”
  • The chairman of the state’s Democratic Party said: “What Abbott is doing is extraordinarily dangerous. This will kill Texans. Our country’s infectious-disease specialists have warned that we should not put our guard down, even as we make progress towards vaccinations. Abbott doesn’t care.”
  • Other state Democrats said in a letter that the decision was “premature and harmful.”
  • The CDC’s Rochelle Walensky didn’t mince words: “Please hear me clearly: At this level of cases with variants spreading, we stand to completely lose the hard-earned ground we have gained. I am really worried about reports that more states are rolling back the exact public health measures we have recommended to protect people from COVID-19.”

There are probably hundreds more such warnings, predictions, and demands, all stated with absolute certainty that basic social and market functioning is a terrible idea. The lockdown lobby was out in full force. And yet what do we see now more than two weeks out (and arguably the lockdowns died on March 2, when the government announced the decision)?

Here are the data.

The CDC has a very helpful tool that allows anyone to compare open vs closed states. The results are devastating for those who believe that lockdowns are the way to control a virus. In this chart we compare closed states Massachusetts and California with open states Georgia, Florida, Texas, and South Carolina.

What can we conclude from such a visualization? It suggests that the lockdowns have had no statistically observable effect on the virus trajectory and resulting severe outcomes. The open states have generally performed better, perhaps not because they are open but simply for reasons of demographics and seasonality. The closed states seem not to have achieved anything in terms of mitigation.

On the other hand, the lockdowns destroyed industries, schools, churches, liberties and lives, demoralizing the population and robbing people of essential rights. All in the name of safety from a virus that did its work in any case.

As for Texas, the results so far are in…

I’m making no predictions about the future path of the virus in Texas. Indeed for a full year, AIER has been careful about not trying to outguess this virus, which has its own ways, some predictable and some mysterious. The experience has, or should have, humbled everyone. Political arrangements seem to have no power to control it, much less finally suppress it. The belief that it was possible to control people in order to control a virus produced a calamity unprecedented in modern times.

What’s striking about all the above predictions of infections and deaths is not just that they were all wrong. It’s the arrogance and confidence behind each of them. After a full year and directly observing the inability of “nonpharmaceutical interventions” to manage the pathogen, the experts are still wedded to their beloved lockdowns, unable or unwilling to look at the data and learn anything from them.

The concept of lockdowns stemmed from a faulty premise: that you can separate humans, like rats in cages, and therefore control and even eradicate the virus. After a year, we unequivocally know this not to be true, something that the best and wisest epidemiologists knew all along. Essential workers still must work; they must go home to their families, many in crowded living conditions. Lockdowns do not eliminate the virus, they merely shift the burden onto the working class.

Now we can see the failure in black, white, and full color, daily appearing on our screens courtesy of the CDC. Has that shaken the pro-lockdown pundit class? Not that much. What an amazing testament to the stubbornness of elite opinion and its bias against basic freedoms. They might all echo the words of Groucho Marx: “Who are you going to believe, me or your own eyes?”

UK Supreme Court Judge Expects People Will Be Forced To Wear Masks, Stay Home For Ten Years | ZeroHedge

Is there a climate lockdown in your future?

Authored by Steve Watson via Summit News,

British former Supreme Court judge Lord Sumption has warned that “social controls” brought about by the coronavirus pandemic may be kept in place by governments for up to a decade.

“It’s politically unrealistic to expect the Government to backtrack now,” commented Sumption, who has been highly critical of the government’s ‘totalitarian’ lockdown policies.

The judge compared the reaction to rationing after the Second World War, which went on for nine years, adding that this time “I think it may be even longer.”

“An interesting parallel is the continuation of wartime food rationing after the last war. People were in favour of that because they were in favour of social control,” he said during a ‘Sketch notes on’ podcast.

“In the 1951 general election, the Labour party lost its majority entirely because people with five years more experience of social control got fed up with it. Sooner or later that will happen in this country,” he added.

Sumption’s warning comes in the wake of Public Health England officials stating that restrictions will remain in place for as long as other countries have not vaccinated everyone, a process likely to take years.

England’s chief medical officer also recently asserted that the pandemic restrictions, which have been in place on and off for a year, have “improved life” for some people.

Despite promising an end to restrictions in June, the UK government yesterday extended emergency COVID laws until October, with Health minister Matt Hancock refusing to say how long they will remain in place after that.

Lord Sumption also noted during the podcast that scientists skeptical of lockdown policies have been “subjected to an extraordinarily unpleasant campaign of personal abuse”.

“I know a lot of people that would prefer not to put their head above the parapet,” He continued, adding:

“From the very moment I started to make these points I began to get emails from politicians who agreed with what I had to say but that they themselves didn’t dare to speak out. That I think is a very serious state of affairs.”

The judge also argued that governments are using the virus politically, noting “They have consistently tried to maintain that the virus is indiscriminate when it is perfectly well-established that it primarily affects people with identifiable vulnerabilities, particularly in the elderly.”

Speaking about the draconian crack down on anti-lockdown protesters, Sumption said “People ought to be entitled to voice their differences (of opinion),” adding “If the only way you can enforce distancing is by beating people over the head with truncheons then it’s not worth it.”

Now that Brits have allowed society to be permanently deformed, with polls routinely showing vehement support for lockdown and other pandemic rules, things are never going to be the same again.

Having allowed the precedent that the government can put the entire population under de facto house arrest on a whim, look for the policy to be repeated over and over again with different justifications that have nothing to do with COVID-19.

As we previously highlighted, one of those justifications will be man-made global warming, with climate lockdowns set to become a regular reality.
