Iran-backed Houthi rebels, said Flynn, attacked a Saudi warship and Tehran tested a missile, undermining “security, prosperity, and stability throughout the Middle East,” placing “American lives at risk.”
But how so?
The Saudis have been bombing the Houthi rebels and ravaging their country, Yemen, for two years. Are the Saudis entitled to immunity from retaliation in wars that they start?
Where is the evidence Iran had a role in the Red Sea attack on the Saudi ship? And why would President Trump make this war his war?
As for the Iranian missile test, a 2015 U.N. resolution “called upon” Iran not to test nuclear-capable missiles. It did not forbid Iran from testing conventional missiles, which Tehran insists this was.
Looks like trump is hesitant to buck the war party and its lap dog lying media. Michael Flynn does not look to be the smartest choice for “security”.
Trump is grasping defeat from the jaws of victory.

“Putting Iran on Notice”—Stop Acting Like A Sovereign Country?
Ignoring the legal nuances, much of the commentary in the United States about Iran’s activity is both belligerent and inaccurate. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-TN) calls the latest missile test a “violation” of the UN Security Council resolution. House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) stated that the Iranian test “ought to be a reminder …that [Iran] continues to flout international laws…” U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley says the world should be “alarmed” by the test. Former ambassador Mark D. Wallace, head of United Against a Nuclear Iran, labels the test “an unacceptable act of aggression.”
More government lies. Much ado about the wrong things.

I could understand this if the US Navy was firing on Iranian ships in the Caribbean.

Iran is divesting themselves of nuclear material and centrifuges. Our national intelligence estimates have told us Iran has not been working towards nuclear weapons since 2003 or so. Iran is following all the rules. They are getting their money back and sanctions lifted.
As we have mentioned in the past The Haaretz reported Bibi Netanyahu as telling the Knesset that his fear wasn’t that Iran would not meet disarmament requirements but that they would. Uh oh! Read the rest of this entry »

The attached Tom Ridge editorial appeared in the 18 Dec Erie Times News. Tom Ridge is a neocon poster boy. He accepted W’s offer to start the department of homeland security after 9/11. Ridge is a local hero. First a representative, then PA governor, had the Erie airport named after him, then made the father of DHS, now an international security consultant making a bundle from terrorism. The editorial is worth a read to see where Ridge and my editorial response below come from.
Tom Ridge’s 18 Dec editorial on confronting terror was so divorced from reality I am forced to comment.
“(America) has led the free world by tapping into humanity’s courage and sense of duty, not hate, to overcome evil.” So many empty words in such a small space. What sense of duty led the US to tear the Middle East apart? Was it the CIA’s duty to overthrow the Iranian government in 1953 and install the brutal Shah? Was it Ambassador Alice Glaspie’s duty to give Saddam Hussein the green light to invade Kuwait so we would have an excuse to retaliate? Is it our duty to vaporize every Middle Eastern male capable of holding a gun or shovel, broom, hoe or anything that looks like a gun from a drone camera?
And no, Donald Trump is not a ‘go it alone’ guy. When Trump says he has no problem with Russia taking on ISIS fear strikes the hearts of neocons. Anyone that threatens US control and power anywhere on the planet must be put in their place.
Next come the real whoppers. Read the rest of this entry »

According to Haaretz Netanyahu’s greatest fear about Iran is that they will comply with all the nuclear development requirements agreed upon at Lusanne. See here.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a recent meeting of the security cabinet that if a comprehensive nuclear agreement between Iran and the six world powers is indeed signed by the June 30 deadline, the greatest concern is that Tehran will fully implement it without violations, two senior Israeli officials said.
One official said: “Netanyahu said at the meeting that it would be impossible to catch the Iranians cheating simply because they will not break the agreement.”
Netanyahu and Israel’s ambassador to Washington, Ron Dermer, want to see changes inserted in the bill that will make it more binding, and even turn it into one that prevents an agreement with Tehran rather than delaying it.
At home Bibi’s story is exactly opposite of what he and his puppets in Washington tell us. The mossad and US national intelligence estimates agree that Iran gave up on nuclear weaponry a decade or more ago. See here. Read the rest of this entry »

Whom has Iran Attacked? No one.
Whom has attacked Iran? US backed Iraq using US and UK supplied chemical weapons.
Is Iran developing nuclear weapons? Not according to the Mossad and our own National Intelligence Estimates.
From Eric Margolis
In fact, the real issue was not nuclear weapons, which Iran does not now possess, but Iran’s potential geopolitical power.
What Israel really feared was not Iran’s non-existent nuclear threat but rather its ongoing support for the beleaguered Palestinians.
But for the United States, the geostrategic calculus is somewhat different. The Iranian revolution of 1979 profoundly challenged America’s Mideast imperium – what I call the American Raj after the manner in which the British Empire ruled India.
Supposedly Iran would attack Israel if it had a nuke. Israel has 80 to 200 nukes depending on whom you read. Between Israel and it’s US lapdog Iran would be turned into a sheet of glass in a nuclear conflict. The Iranians are not stupid. Read the rest of this entry »

Don’t bet against it. Obama will finish the job AIPAC Congress started.
Romney will too, if elected. He will give away the farm to Israel. He promises to “back” a pre-emptive strike by Israel. To Israel “backing” means US boots on the ground. Read the rest of this entry »

I agree with Robert Cogan’s recent Erie Times letter arguing that an attack on Iran is not in our interest. I say it is hardly necessary by anyone. Another ineptly conceived and implemented war and the resulting sky rocketing oil prices won’t do us any good. One can read where the 2007 National Intelligence Estimates and the CIA say Iran stopped any nuclear weapon research 10 years ago. Read the rest of this entry »
