In which of the countries we have attacked or invaded in this century — Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Yemen — are the people better off
than they were before we came?
And we wonder why they hate us.
Just like here at home it is about control. Not improving life.
The problem is there are fewer sheeple over there than here.

As with every other act of random killings here in the United States, the media misses the big one: The culture of ongoing violence that the national-security establishment has made a permanent part of America’s governmental structure.
For 27 continuous years, the Pentagon and the CIA have been killing people in the Middle East and Afghanistan. That is a long time to be killing people. And not just a few people. When we include the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi children who were killed by the 11 years of sanctions on Iraq, the number of people killed by U.S. forces surely exceed a million. Granted, not the 6 million killed in the Holocaust, but nonetheless a very large number of people killed. Read the rest of this entry »

The West still seems at a loss to understand why this is happening. Well, guys, here’s why: You need to get out of the Middle East and stay out. It really is that simple. And you guys have been told that repeatedly for decades. But the real reason Western governments refuse to listen is because they’re pretty much safe against suffering the consequences of Western government Middle East meddling. It’s the public that pays the price, not the politicians.
The public pays in civilian and military lives and taxes used to support the military and the bankster profiteers. Read the rest of this entry »

Near the tenth anniversary of the US war on Afghanistan – seven years ago – I went to the Floor of Congress to point out that the war makes no sense. The original authorization had little to do with eliminating the Taliban. It was a resolution to retaliate against those who attacked the United States on September 11, 2001. From what we know now, the government of Saudi Arabia had far more to do with the financing and planning of 9/11 than did the Taliban. But we’re still pumping money into that lost cause. We are still killing Afghanis and in so doing creating the next generation of terrorists.

From our longest war, Afghanistan, comes word from U.S. Gen. John Nicholson that we and our Afghan allies are in a “stalemate” with the Taliban, and he will need a “few thousand” more U.S. troops – to augment the 8,500 President Obama left behind when he left office.
Committing the US to go to war over Montenegro? McCain needs to declare victory and retire.
Historically, the Balkans have been an incubator of war. In the 19th century, Otto van Bismarck predicted that when the Great War came, it would come out of “some damn fool thing in the Balkans.” And so it did when the Austrian archduke was assassinated in Sarajevo June 28, 1914, by Serbian ethnonationalist Gavrilo Princip.
Why are we fighting the Taliban? They never attacked US. We attacked them. The result of Bush’s fake news back in 2002.
It’s time for your nap Senator McCain.

There is no delicate way to put this: The federal government’s “war on drugs” in the U.S. has been a stupendous failure. The only way it doesn’t look quite so bad is when it is compared to the mess we have made conducting a drug war as part of the rebuilding of Afghanistan.
More importantly, Afghanistan is responsible for 90 percent of the world’s illicit opiates, such as heroin, and opium production increased 43 percent just in the past year, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime reported in October.
Whoops. Read the rest of this entry »

The scheme was to destroy the Soviet Union’s economy by luring it into an unwinnable war in Afghanistan. The method for doing this was for Osama bin Laden, working for the CIA, to invite fundamentalist Muslims in Saudi Arabia and other countries to Afghanistan, where the U.S. military would arm and train them (Operation Cyclone). Engdahl believes that the weakening of its economy led to the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Now we are doing it to ourselves. Sad, ridiculous. But criticize and one becomes a traitor.

Russia invaded Afghanistan in 1979 and left after 9 years, realizing it was a no-win situation. The US invaded the ‘graveyard of empires’ in 2001. Sixteen years later there are no signs of leaving.
Russia fights Al Qaeda and helps their ally, Syria, fight ISIS. Syria is in Russia’s neighborhood. Al Qaeda attacked the US. Saudi Arabia financed the operation. ISIS has sworn to destroy the U.S. The US supports Al Qaeda and ISIS in overthrowing the main stabilizing force in the Middle East, Syria. The US pays Saudi Arabia to do the same. Spanish born philosopher Santayana said those who ignorant of history are bound to repeat it. He also said only the dead have seen the end of war.
There was a predominate superpower hell-bent for world hegemony via compliant puppet governments. Military bases and an all powerful navy were spread throughout the world. Control of the Middle East was crucial. This superpower played allies and enemies against each other to further it’s agenda. Promises were repeatedly made and broken. Western powers all wanted a piece of the Middle East action.
The Middle East was made up of numerous tribes and sects, each of which had their own particular needs and goals. Many of these groups were at odds with their neighbors and religious variants.
This superpower was unable to recognize these rivalries let alone deal with them. The overall situation was incredibly complex. The superpower did not let ignorance hinder its efforts. Read the rest of this entry »

How many times have we heard Obama say we are leaving Afghanistan?
As many times as we were promised Guantanamo would close?
Obama is a perpetual motion lying machine. A perpetual spending button has been added to his control panel.
The still in process US-Afghan Security Agreement commits fifteen thousand US troops and billions of dollars to support US and the Afghans. There is no limit specified for the dollar part. We will be OBLIGATED to provide perpetual financial support. Read the rest of this entry »
