Is World War III Only A Few Days Away?

Posted by M. C. on February 29, 2016

There are 350,000 troops gathered in Saudi Arabia for ‘war games’.  There are 18,000 Turkish troops gathered in Turkey.  Both near the Syrian border.

Saudi Arabia says they intend to invade Syria.  Ash Carter is non-committal about about whether the US will send US soldiers to their death for Saudi Arabia (and Israel).

Russia says they would consider tactical nukes in Turkey.  What about SA?

Joachim Hagopianin in the linked article suggests there may be a US master plan. Read the rest of this entry »

Tom Ridge Confronting Terror

Posted by M. C. on December 20, 2015

Tom Ridge 12-18-15

The attached Tom Ridge editorial appeared in the 18 Dec Erie Times News.  Tom Ridge is a neocon poster boy.  He accepted W’s offer to start the department of homeland security after 9/11.  Ridge is a local hero.  First a representative, then PA governor, had the Erie airport named after him, then made the father of DHS, now an international security consultant making a bundle from terrorism.  The editorial is worth a read to see where Ridge and my editorial response below come from.

Tom Ridge’s 18 Dec editorial on confronting terror was so divorced from reality I am forced to comment.

“(America) has led the free world by tapping into humanity’s courage and sense of duty, not hate, to overcome evil.” So many empty words in such a small space. What sense of duty led the US to tear the Middle East apart? Was it the CIA’s duty to overthrow the Iranian government in 1953 and install the brutal Shah? Was it Ambassador Alice Glaspie’s duty to give Saddam Hussein the green light to invade Kuwait so we would have an excuse to retaliate? Is it our duty to vaporize every Middle Eastern male capable of holding a gun or shovel, broom, hoe or anything that looks like a gun from a drone camera?

And no, Donald Trump is not a ‘go it alone’ guy. When Trump says he has no problem with Russia taking on ISIS fear strikes the hearts of neocons. Anyone that threatens US control and power anywhere on the planet must be put in their place.

Next come the real whoppers. Read the rest of this entry »

Turkey Finally Goes To War In 20 words Or Less-Is The Media Really This Shallow?

Posted by M. C. on July 27, 2015

A few days ago I heard the following paraphrased soundbite on NPR.

Turkey has launched attacks in Syria against ISIS and Kurdish rebels.

Is that it? Such an important development in a complex context and all we get is a dozen or so words.

Turkey has been covertly aiding ISIS and Al Qaida because they are doing the ‘regime change’ heavy lifting in Shiite Syria. Al Qaida has been allowed to freely cross the Turkish border into Syria. Thanks to Seymour Hersch we know Turkey supplied ‘moderate’ Al Qaida with the chemical weapons used in the attacks blamed on Assad. ISIS bad, Al Qaida not so much.

Maybe all is not as presented to us. The key is in the attacks on the Kurds. This may be where most of the Turkish effort is going. Read the rest of this entry »

Fighting ISIS With Our Friends-With Friends Like Them…

Posted by M. C. on September 29, 2014

The broad coalition of countries fighting ISIS with US sure aren’t shouldering much of the load. A few planes here and there and that is about it. Mostly the help amounts to cheer leading. But considering the integrity of our “friends” this comes as no surprise.

Take Turkey, please. Our NATO “partner” funds “moderate” rebels in Syria. They supply gas to the rebels and blame it on Syria hoping to suck the US in deeper. Thanks to Putin and some rare push back from the US citizenry we aren’t as deep as we could be.

Saudi Arabia funded the 9/11 attackers, most of them home-grown. SA does not want to become overtly seen as fighting fellow muslims and has only lately become a cheerleader.  SA takes our money and what weapons they don’t get for free they get at bargain rates. Thank you Import-Export bank.  SA knows it is next on ISIS list.  But why put your own people at risk when you can throw your weight (spelled “oil”) around and intimidate Washington into sacrificing US bodies. Seymour Hersh on How Turkey’s Erdogan, Sarin Gas False Flags and Benghazi All Tie Together

Posted by M. C. on April 9, 2014

Seymour Hersh who gained fame by exposing the Mai Lai massacre, has been commenting lately on Middle East issues and media in general. His latest is The Red Line and the Rat Line.

http://www.lrb.co.uk/2014/04/06/seymour-m-hersh/the-red-line-and-the-rat-line

What is a false flag? Say you wanted to blow up one of your own ships in Havana harbor in order to start a war or staging a fake sea battle in the Tonkin Gulf to facilitate escalation of war. These are false flag incidents.

Recall Obama was being lead down the path of war in Syria by the neocons because of sarin gas attacks in Syria. No opinion was put forth by UN inspectors regarding the origin of the gas. That did not stop the Obama administration, the State Department, the neocons and the compliant media, Bob Scheifer, NPR et al from blaming it all on the Syrian government.
